Help me! S-Off and Root Desire 2.3.3 official ?

Hi, I have htc desire with Android 2.3.3 uffical leak 'PVT3 and Hboot 1.02.0001
How I can root it and get it s-off??

Yes it can, Revolutionary currently supports the following Android phones and HBOOT versions:
■
HTC Desire (bravo) 0.93.0001, 1.02.0001

Try contact Revolutionary then. Because they made the prog and we don't have a crystal ball where we can see why it doesn't work for you.

and make sure you follow all steps as they mentioned on revolutionary page

I installed driver, actived debug usb, connect to pc only charge.
revolutionary see my desire but when i put beta key....error beta key invalid.

then you need to contact revolutionary, they give you proper answer

Download the file again, chances are you're using the old version which needs the OLD beta key

do it with revolutionary........before using it properly install htc desire(with htc sync) drivers,adb drivers(if on windows)...google for the drivers....uninstall the htc sync....then run revlutionary ...and the beta key is 3EOf1E7vN1CEe1XJ...rooted my desire with official gingerbread....now on miui....the link for revolutionary is http://revolutionary.io/.....

I just rooted over the weekend, i used Revolutionary tool, and used the HTC Fast Boot Drivers that are linked on that site. Nothing else.
Everything the loaded up fine, after that i was able to just go into Recovery and install a custom ROM.

Revolutionary would do it. Then revolutionary have an SU patch zip file you can run through Recovery, Install zip from SD. Then you can root original 2.3 on Desire

Must I downgrade to root?

My android version is 2.3.3 and software number is 2.37.707.3. Is it a must for me to downgrade so that I will be able to root? Thanks

No! Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352 and everything will be fine. I had the 2.50 software and it worked excellent. One little hint: READ THE MANUAL! Especially the FAQ.

I would also like to ask, is it possible to take a screenshot w/o rooting?

There are several apps on the market. But don't ask me for recommendations. I use CyanogenMod 7 which has a built-in screenshot function.

little help rooting new to htc

hi guys ive just swapped my samsung galaxy note for the one x and its totally different to rooting ,flashing. i carnt make sense of the guides and with me swapping the device i dont want to brick it ect and im going away in 2 day so dont have the time to read everything

[Q] Root and S-OFF Desire Z

I have got an Desire Z wich i want to install a custom rom on.
The phone is completely stock and i am wondering what the best guide might be to root it and install CWM on it.
Also i read that Visionary is tricky on this type of phone.
So what is the best guide ? Also version numbers :
Android : 2.3.3
Kernel : 2.6.35.10-g53a84f9
Software nr : 2.42.405.5

Do a quick google search of these 3 terms
Cyanogen wiki htc vision root
Xda wiki vision
Strawmetal root desire z pdf guide
Only use one of these guides, others may not be too safe, you will need to downgrade first, any of the guides will get you moving along. I suggest to read all three

I rooted mine ages ago, just an offer to wickedd if he needed it. I saved all the files also.

Can someone please repost Strawmetal files,as his links are dead...Or post a direct link to another safe method to root DesireZ?Thanks in advance!

Write permissions after marshmallow root

Hi
I have m8 sense version that I update to marshmallow Im s-on.
After the update I flash trwp 3.0.0 and boot of gpe and the supersu 2.67
every thing look OK ( I have checked with root checker and I'm rooted) but when Im trying to use app that need write permissions like Adaway that need to write the hosts file
its says that I dont have write permission
And after any reboot the file goes back to default
Any idea ?

You need to flash this zip file :
m8-mmgpe-wp_mod.zip
from the thread above and this will fix the write permissions problem

I agree that the link in Post#2 could have used some additional explanation.
But I thought it was a bit strange that it seems like you spent time looking for another thread, when one with the solution was already provided?

Were you trying to say you flashed a GPE based ROM? Because that is not what "boot" means (boot.img just refers to the kernel, hboot is just the bootloader).
Based on your wording, I can see how the user in Post #2 thought you were on a Sense ROM (and supplied the wp mod for Sense). If you are trying to say you found/posted the right wp mod for GPE, than that makes more sense (no pun intended).
