Hello - Please help me. I just tried to flash the EF02 ROM found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128993&highlight=stuck+in+installing
I am running Swiss Cheese stock deodexed EE03 & modem with cwm 3.0.2.5. I backed up through cwm, then upgraded to cwm 3.1.0.1 (purple), reset, cleared cache and started the new ROM install. It started to install but has been stuck on the "Mounting file systems" step for about 35 minutes now.
Is it safe to remove the battery and try again at this point? Have I done something incorrectly? I followed the post above exactly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes it safe to remove the battrey I would say redownload the file and try again. Good luck.

Thanks for that. I was just worried that removing a battery during a ROM install was a bad idea. Take care.
You may have to Odin to EC05 or EB13 first to get to EF02 ROM. The Clockworks have problems sometimes going from a GB ROM to a GB ROM.
It actually worked just fine going from EE03 to EF02. Esteway was right, I had to re-download the file. I guess I should have run a checksum after the download.
This ROM from decad3nce is pretty amazing by the way. I have almost 1.5 times the battery life and neutralized most of my issues with EE03. Thanks for the response.

So lemme say first i can over from an HTC and love the way this baby works. i was very active in my HTC and flashed and did a lot of stuff to it, also doing a lot to my brother and sisters phones to. Evo and Captivate. my brothers evo like my HTC wasnt that bad at flashing could just download and go. I had so many problems with getting odin or one click to read my phone i was so upset cause i couldnt get to flashing. WELL now my comp is a champ and working like a charm, my phone on the other hand not so well. I once got SRF 1.0.1 to flash but it was real buggy on me, force closes, browser was screwy. Also Odin flashed SwissCheese but was slow. The reason i Odin flashed it is because no matter what rom i try and flash i get stuck on the samsung screen. even SFR 1.0.1 does it too. I have looked all over for the answer and nothing. I know what i am doing when it comes to these androids and am very good at figuring out the solution, but i am stuck. I am 100% sure i have done everything step by step per the devoloper.... just saying, anyone have a clue? think it could be my phone?
Odin back to stock. I have a video made, click the link in my signature.

2 things, first coming from stock EC05 is screwy to begin with and it is best to do all the wipes. It would be much better to either Odin in an EC05 or EB13 prerooted. Then when you pick a ROM is it EXT4 or RFS? If you pick an EXT4 ROM make sure you have converted to EXT4 somehow first unless the ROM says it will convert it for you. If you try to flash an EXT4 ROM on an RFS system without converting, you will get stuck at the SAMSUNG screen.
Okay well here's a little update... I have tried using 3.0.2.5 many times in the past with the same results. Stuck at samsung screen!! I have made sure to use the flashable rfstoext4 before flashing a ext4 rom, even tho SRF converts for you. I feel like a baffled idiot on this because I have done this so many times on other phones and am very quick to figure out a solution if needed... BUT I AM LOOOOOST I did see a few good suggestions I am gonna try... I am gonna odin a prerooted rom and see.
For ****s and giggles I tried to flash the ONE rom that did work for me SRF 1.0.1 and it worked! But very buggy still. Even a fresh dwnload of he rom will not work as it didn't before. Just the one file I downloaded before as its been the only one that worked. Also I tried to flash SRF 1.2 on top of it and still stuck at the samsung screen.
I am confused as to what is going on. I have tried many different things and to no prevail. I even started to think maybe it is the stock rom I am odin'in to but even flashing over the SRF I had the same outcome....
You think it could possibly be a phone problem?!?!

I flashed an EXT4 rom without converting. What can I do to fix this?

Did you try to restore a nand backup of your last working configuration? You can install an RFS ROM like RFSplus or one of the Gingerbread leaks. Pull your sd card out and put it into a computer to download and copy an RFS ROM onto it and put it back into the phone and flash.
Okay, I just spent over 6 hours fussing with my phone. I'll try to keep it short and simple.
My phone was running GB 2.3.3. Then a RandomROM HAWK. I was wanting my phone to run EXT4. But, I could not get it to that. When I rooted it with CWM 3.1.0.1, that did not convert the system. Running the RFStoEXT4 zip also did not work.
I just now un-rooted and went back to stock EC05 2.2.1
I then ran CWM 3.0.0.6, which did successfully convert to EXT4.
"FINALLY!", I thought. I wipe data, cache, Dalvik three times. I go to flash a SyndicateROM 1.2, and I get stuck at the Samsung screen.
I've just spent a long time on my phone, and it doesn't help that there are way too many methods to root, unroot, update, flash this, flash that, and it doesn't help that there isn't one simple way to:
Root
Convert to EXT4
Update to Gingerbread 2.3.3/2.3.4
Without going through endless links. That's all I want to do.
I would do more searching however, I've spent enough time on the internet and I really, really need a break. Could someone please help point me in the right direction?
SRF 1.2 doesn't come with a kernel. Upgrade to purple CWM 3.1.0.1 if you haven't yet and flash a kernel and reboot. You should be good after that

Any particular kernel or just any will do?

Any custom kernel you choose.
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G.
I hate sounding like a pompous jerk but, the OP says in the post that it had no kernel >.< READ MAN READ!!!!
Anyways, to kinda help, Genocide's kernel works perfect with SRF 1.2
here's the link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961614&highlight=genocide
I freaked out when I first tried to go to the ACS Frozen 1.2 ROM. I read that it had no kernel, but thought since I had the stock .tar file already flashed I was good to go.. n00b Mistake..
I used the Genocide 2.0 kernel, which I flashed immediately after I flashed ACS Frozen 1.2 and it worked awesome..
are you just wanting to go with EC05 and the ACS frozen 1.2 ROM?
or wanting to go with gingerbread?
If you put a stock or deodexed version of GB on the phone through ODIN, you should be good to go.
What is your end goal?
To get EG22 (2.3.4) on your phone deodexed and rooted with CWM 3.1, go here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184134
I couldn't get mine to work with Odin 1.85, so I used Odin 1.61 and it worked flawlessly.
I just did this last night, coming from the EC05 ACS frozen 1.2 + Genocide 2.0 combo; so if you need help, let me know
CWM 3.0+ will automatically convert to EXT-4.
FYI, if you end goal is to get GB on your phone, rooted, this will be ONE simple step. You will just ODIN once and when you boot up you will have the following:
EB22 modem
2.3.4
all other stock EB22 stuff
I was running phoenix and started getting f/cs (like i was on hawk) so I decided to go back to stock and ran odin and applied stockdeoEC05.tar.md5/victory_8G_100528.pit and all was good until I put cwm3.1.0.1.tar.md5 on with odin. Now I'm stuck in recovery and when I reboot system the screen just shows the samsung screen and then goes right back to recovery.
I tried to install srf-1.2 and i get E:Can't open /cashe/recovery/log
Any ideas?
Something didn't flash right. Odin in the EC05plus ROM. It is prerooted with 3.1.0.1.

Do you have a link?
05pro? Do you have a link? The links I have found were all dead. I've been having f/cs with every ROM I try. Is there any stable ROMs w/o crap apps... Things seem to be fine for a few days and then I get f/cs and nothing becomes available.
I have recovery v3.1.0.1 running but nothing will flash... still stuck in recovery but not getting any e: messages. I put Genocide2.0_superuser on card and it seemed to flash okay.
You probably had re-partition checked with cwm. Re partition with the rom flash, then REMEMBER TO UNCHECK RE-PARTITION and flash cwm
That did it... what ROMs do you suggest that are the most stable? I really do not care if it's Froyo or GB. I just want stable at this point. I'm back to stock till further...
Urban regeneration, Syndicate 1.2.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to try this frozen for a few days and see if it f/cs at all. If that don't work I'll try the UR 1.2.
Don't forget SFR 1.2 requires you to flash a kernel immediately.
Hello, I'm new with roms and could really use some help.
I used oneclickroot and have clockwork recovery installed. i backed up my phone and installed cyn on it. Everything seemed to be fine until i looked in my settings. Airplane mode was turning on and off repeatedly. I thought it might be the rom... so i did a recovery in CW and cleared caches etc.
I installed ACS and same issue. I've googled, searched forums and no answers to this. I could really use help.
Here are my phone specs as of right now.
Model: SPH-D700
Firmware: Samurai-2.6.35_gen1.0.2
Baseband: Di18
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-samurai+
That's with ACS ICS.
I have no network and don't want to stay with factory settings.

Sounds like you have the wrong modem for the roms you are trying. I would suggest to odin back to ec05. Install clockwork mod , then install randomrom thunderhawk. There is another utility to flash from ec05 modem to ei22 modem. That should clear up your issue. Then you can flash my cool blue theme. Anyway hope this helps. Or another route would be to find the flashable ei22 modem.
Thank you very much!
I had to update to ec05 before i could update to ei22. I have ACS installed. how is thunderhawk and randomrom?
I've heard good things about all of them. Most are getting pretty stable. Make sure to read what works and does not work before flashing. I am currently on ERA beta 3.3. It's pretty darn nice and stable.
I have not had one reboot. Battery life is good on it.
Maybe you can get some opinions of other people's experiences by reading the thread at which the ROM was posted on. That's usually the best feedback.
I just decided last night to switch from Calkulin to Blazer so I could try it out.
The results were disastrous.
I took my phone, which was running on Rogue Desperado Kernel, EL29 Modem, Calk 2.8.1, and backed up everything. Then I booted into ROGUE recovery, and flashed CALKS FORMAT ALL. This was a success.
Then I flashed BLAZER ROM 3.7. This was a success, according to my little black and green screen.
**HOWEVER, upon reboot I was stuck at SAMSUNG GALAXY S II screen. I waited...and waited...and waited. It never moved past this screen.
Then I tried booting into recovery - no dice. I had to download the Stock EL29 Kernel/Modem/ROM ODIN Full Restore and flash everything back to square one.
Once this was completed, I rooted using the Auto Rooter and took my phone to EL29 with CWM. Then I flashed my Kernel over to the stock EL29 with Rogue Kernel (this is easier to use than stock CWM IMO).
FINALLY, I booted into recovery, flashed CALK FORMAT ALL, then flashed BLAZER ROM 3.7. Now I'm back to the ** from earlier in this post - SAMSUNG GALAXY SII is on the screen, and I can't get past it or boot into recovery.
I'm going to run through the steps again to bring my phone back to stock, but I'd really like to try this ROM out. Does anyone have any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
With no background information, it sounds like it may have been a bad download. Have you tried downloading another copy of Blazer rom?
The process you described was correct, and sometimes bad downloads lead to infinite splash screens.

OK it looks like you correct. I re-installed Calk 2.8.1 with no issues and did a restore through Titanium. I then got a message saying "download incomplete" of BLAZER ROM. It's odd, because the download went through fine yesterday and the notification cleared before I booted into Recovery to flash everything.
Now I'm trying to re-download the ROM and the link is down with no mirror. Does anyone have a copy saved that they can create a mirror with?

The EXACT same thing happened to me and I did the same as the OP. I followed the instructions, I thought, verbatim. I'm not a newb when it comes to flashing, I've been doing this for years. Stupid me, I flashed a ROM and locked up the phone for a few hours until I got home from work. The only thing that brought it back was Odin to stock and start all over. The only roms that work for me are cal's rooted stocks, his custom roms and strong Steve's Smurf love ROM. Such is life.
was trying to download the new blazer rom and seems the link is broken so will try later.
PhantomHacker is having issues with his host (see quote below), I'm sure he'll have it handled asap. Blazer ROM is awesome, hope you guys enjoy once he gets it back up and running.

Im not sure if you are or not but if you are trying to download the rom from your phone that is the first mistake. I have had allot of bad luck doing it this way. Always download it from the computer and never transfer it through Kies air always use a usb cable. I cannot tell you how much trouble I have run into when trying to download from the phone or transfer roms/themes wireless.
PH's site is back. Download to PC
OK I'm all good. Someone posted a mirror last night for the Blazer Rom (nibrwr notes that PhantomHacker's site is back up today for anyone else trying to download) and I downloaded it on my phone.
rbtrucking - I know you mentioned to always download on PC and transfer, but I've had almost no issues with the downloads direct to the phone. I did all of the Calk install when I first rooted this way, and the Blazer issue was probably my own fault, I must have ended the download before the file finished and then tried to Flash it.
I downloaded the full Blazer Rom on my phone directly yesterday and flashed it in Recovery and it worked fine.
Everything is working perfectly, and I've got it overclocked to 1.35GHZ. Stable as all hell and pulling over 5,000 on Quadrant, whatever the hell that test is good for.
Thanks for the help everyone.
