Has anyone tried this genuine samsung cable ? I would like to know if this is a true OTG and not just a microUSB to USB adapter. Also, does it support usb mice and keyboards etc ?
I'm not allowed to post links yet, but it is available on mobilefun already.
I have bought dealextreme.com/p/micro-usb-on-the-go-host-otg-adapter-pair-50774 My 16gb flash works fine, but mouse dont. I tryed 2 mouses. One is simple with usb wire, other is wirreles. But no one worked. When I connect, just nothing happned. Any idea how to make it work?

Pls post that otg cable pics.
I bought the OTG cable. It works like a charm and it cost me 15euros. At least it's got the Samsung logo on it.
I bought a Samsung charger too and guess what. The microusb is moving when insert it in the phone. I have to keep it in place in with my hand to charge it...

If it's the wireless one: It could use a driver that GS2 don't has or it's recognized as a high-power device, in the last case though the phone should print a warning...
What are the different items I can connect to my Note via the USB On The Go adapter?
Apart from USB thumb pen drives, do external hard drives, wireless keyboard and mouse, gamepsds work?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
they all should work out of the box, except for hard drives, which will need additional power
I want to try this feature but cannot find an adapter that works. I bought one off eBay but that was no good, the supplier stated it was for the Galaxy Note but didn't work on Gingerbread 2.3+ which was odd as obviously the Note ships with Gingerbread 2.3
I contacted Samsung who said I needed the official Samsung OTG cable but they don't sell to Joe Public .. trawling endless sites to find a supplier came up zero.
So if anyone know of a supplier (UK preferred) of one of these compatible adapter / cables please let me know
Good to see someone started this topic, very useful..
I have the Galaxy note and managed to connect my Keysonic keyboard with builtin mouse with no problems. I have the otg adapter and when I plugged in the wireless adapter the note picked it up as a keyboard and mouse, worked great.

Also the scrolling on the mousepad worked!!

Nokia OTG Adaptor
Does the Nokia OTG adaptor work with the note? Anyone tried?
Thanks a lot for the Amazon link I also found the identical one on the UK site here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aftermarket...NQXS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324042438&sr=8-1
I shall order one and report back
EDIT: this arrived and I can confirm it does work. Thanks to the OP for this link

I've just tried my N8s adaptor but no luck I'm afraid. It's connector to the phone is thicker and simply won't fit into the Note.
Nokia (at least the official cable) uses the "correct" Micro USB A for Hostmode.
You have to get Micro USB B for the Note.
(B cable fit in A but not otherwise)

Anyone try a generic USB Gamepad? I have a PS3 copy/generic USB that would be cool to hook up to it for emulator games.
I have the original adapter and it's working great:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-R205UBEGSTA-Adapter-Packaging-T-Mobile/dp/B006FYBC70
USB gamepads should work when ICS is coming. Its in there.
dose this mean that not any OTG cable will work!
most are working but some are cheap quality
and some not well made
i bought several OTG cables from a seller on ebay and all worked

Are you referring to those external hard drives that take power from the USB port?
What about those external hard drives that take on a separate power supply, those that are attached to a power socket? Anyone tried plugging in one of those to a Note?
ok I just buy one and it did work fine with sandisk 64gb.
so it's confirmed that it can read portable drives.
looking forward to owning one.
What kind of adapter should I buy ?
Or any cheap $2 mini-usb to USB adapter is fine.
And do I need to do anything first or just connect and go?
Thanks
I believe any mini USB adapter is fine but your charger should double as an adapter (unless you wanted a second one).
On one machine I plugged it in an it was recognized immediately, on another I needed to install some drivers. It should be easy to find them if you need them.
EDIT:
I just did a quick search, the Samsung website has drivers.

Umm..what do u mean " charger should double as an adapter" ?
Oh my goodness. Disregard my post. I completely misread what you were asking. I'm sorry :silly:
I think the adapter you are looking for is called a USB OTG (On the Go) adapter. I found one on eBay for a couple of dollars. I should be receiving it in a few days, and I'll post back with a review.

This is the adapter I ordered off of eBay from eforcity: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300743162602
It arrived today, and so far its working perfectly. If you install StickMount (free!) from the Play Store, you can mount a USB drive on your Galaxy Nexus. Also, plugging in a USB mouse works immediately, with no configuration needed.

Thanks !!
ordered the same one from Amazon for $1
Just ordered two of those adapters. They convert Micro USB 2.0 to USB 3.1.
Best price is 1.28!
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-...-0-5-Pin-Female-Data-Adapter/32431393932.html
Let me know if it works for you. I ordered http://aliexpress.com/item/2015-New...onverter-Adapter-For-Macbook/32390876259.html some time ago and the connector won't even fit into my OP2..
weird.. They look the same to me. I will definitely give a feedback!
I ordered this one...
http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6845583073.html
Still not received atm.
EDIT : fits perfectly, work with charger but not with OTG cable...
i have ordered a few off ebay. hopefully they will arrive in the morning. its good that they do these things as i have heard some people saying the cable that comes with the 1+2 wont connect to some laptops. for myself i have not had that issue but i want some backups for safe keeping.
I bought 5 from eBay for $2 ea. They work fine and I have tried them on a lot of different cables and charges both cheap and quality ones.
Good to know that most of them do work. I noticed that the OPT cable is slightly wider than some usb slots. That might be the reason why is not fitting into some laptops.
Find the UK equivalent here, http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/301706225746
ordered 2 will see how these perform and give feedback.
I have 3 of these. They work fine for charging. But NOT with my SanDisk 64GB OTG Flash Drive With micro USB connector.
Tomorrow I will get this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010HWCFDA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Hope it works with my OP2
I think those adapters are only for charging and not for data transfer :/
Ok. So I got it today but unfortunately, my OP2 does not recognizes the device. I've checked "OTG storage"
in Settings>Storage, tried to reboot.. NOTHING. Not working!! Shame on you Kingston..

Have you tried formatting it to FAT32 via your PC and then plugging it in the phone?

I tried to format in Windows and Mac to every format possible, including Fat 32 but NO!! Not recognized...
Yeah I am in the same boat. I bought a OTG cable and it won't recognise any usb drives. I did read somewhere that there has been some issues with OTG on OxygenOS.

Maybe your flash drive draws too much power from the phone? I assume this product was meant to be used with a Macbook Air rather than a phone with USB Type C, but I could be wrong.

As said before, some of these USB Type C adapters might not be suited for data transfer. Have you checked that?
They work alright with data transfer connected to a PC. I will buy a USB 3.1 Type C OTG Cable proper and see how it goes.
It does work just fine with my imac, under OSx and Windows.. But not with my OP2...
OTG does work fine for a friend of mine with a similar Sandisk flash drive and adapter. Pic included.

I think it was intended to facilitate moving files from an older phone. Mine is due to arrive any moment. I think we will all have some real answers soon.
Except most old phones do not have USB-C

You plug the USB C end into the Pixel and then use another cable to connect an older phone (presumably one you're already using with the older phone). Micro USB/Lightning into the older phone, USB into the adapter. The adapter can also be utilized for OTG - USB C into the Pixel, flash drive/other USB device into the USB port.

Also to use OTG. Plug that in, and you can hook up a keyboard, mouse, removable drive, someone elses phone, whatever.
Could someone clarify. I plugged the adapter in how I was directed by a thread at the "pixel community". The thread referenced a way to use the adapter to transfer files however I plugged it in set the settings to xfer files and nothing. Does the adapter go into the pixel or the (in my case) Note 7? The thread listed a way to make these transfers upon start up but I'm way past start up. I need to transfer a couple apps and a big phone log and a truck load of texts. Any help out there?
