I want to make sure I have the correct steps before I switch.
1. MyRootBackup, Titanium back up, nandroid backup
2. Copy SFR 1.1.2, Journaling on, rfs2ext4, vision kernel, and theme to zip card
3. boot to d/l mode
4. Odin EC05 modem
5. boot to cwm 3.1.0.1
6. wipe everything 3 times
Now this is where I am not sure of the chain of events I should follow.
7. Convert to ext4
8. flash kernal
9. flash rom
10. reboot to make sure all is good
11. reboot to cwm
12. flash journaling on and theme
13. reboot should be good to go?
I recently moved from midnight EE03 back to 5.3 EC05
copied ROM to sd card
i odin'd back to ec05 stock.
booted to get gps lock
one click rooted with 3.0.2.5
booted to cwm (auto ext4)
when finished flashed ec05 rom
i prefer to start @ step 1 to be sure everything is cleared and reset.
Make sure you have cwm3.1.0.1. Installed.
1)Flash the rom (the rom converts to ext 4)
2) flash a kernel (make sure the kernel supports ext4
3) boot the phone
4) reboot into recovery
5) flash the theme.
No need to odin inless you want the ec05 modem

Sweet thanks was hoping you would see this and give me a answer. Thought I saw something in OP of ACS 1.1.2 that had to be EC05. I have 3.1.0.1 already. I have tendency to over complicate things.
Again Thanks!
It has been confirmed the newer and older modems work

I know as of right now its not possible to update to eb13 from dk28, so i was wondering if someone can make and update.zip so i can update from dk28 to eb13 via recovery. Thanks. I am wiling to donate to whatever dev can make this happen. Thanks. Also not rooted.
First off this doesn't belong in development and second if it can be done its probably in the works already

Do you have clockworkmod? You can use this to flash back to di18, then you can use the di18->eb13 update posted above.

So what you will have to do is flash the ReRFS rom to get back to RFS. Then run the one-click with cwm 2.5.1.0. Then flash that di18 from my previous post.
Basically, you have to reverse the process of how you got to where you are.
Here's a list of the steps and what you will have at each point.
Build - File System - CWM version - next step
1. DK28 - ext4 - cwm3 - Flash ReRFS
2. DK28 - RFS - cwm3 - Reinstall cwm 2.5.1.0 (via one click or manually)
3. DK28 - RFS - cwm 2.5.1.0 - Flash DI18 with modem
4. DI18 - RFS - cwm 2.5.1.0 - Flash Dameon's pre-rooted EB13
5. EB13 - RFS - cwm 2.5.1.0 - Finished. Until you want to install something else, that is.
Use the .exe file from samsung. It works just fine from dk28 regardless of what your running. It will wipe everything but your going to want to do that anyway. It worked just fine for me.

ive tried this and it is not working for me(yes, im a noob). i started from step 3: i have dk28 rfs installed, i have never rooted or done anything to my phone other than use the dk28 update.zip file. im not familiar with odin and would prefer a simpler way to update to eb13 i tried using the above mentioned link to revert to di18 but it keeps aborting on me bcuz of the signature...what now? thanx in advance
am currently on SRF 1.1 and want to get to 1.2
i read that it is compatible with CWM 3.0 but it also says that 3.1 is required....
do i need to do anything to download a neww/diff kernel? i believe i only downloaded one zip file when i went to 1.1, from stock froyo, and everything was included...
my phone/sd card is also riddled with junk so sorta like a pc, i would like to just nuke everything every once in a while and load the o/s and my apks from scratch ;-)
does this order make sense:
1- wipe/format phone storage
2- wipe/format my sd card
3- install cwm 3.1
4- flash to stock froyo
5- odin the recommended SRF 1.2 modem
6- flash the rom (believe only Standard currently exists but TW4 addon would sorta make it like Full?
7- install my apks
thanks!
ps do i need to install a kernel somewhere in between the above steps?

All you have to do is upgrade your 3.0.0.6 clockwork to 3.0.2.5 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13693020
Just flash the zip through clockwork and reboot.
Then boot back into clockwork and flash the 3.1.0.1 upgrade found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115999
Then reboot.
Then go back into clockwork and just flash 1.2 without wiping! If you have problems with 1.2, then wipe everything 3X each (data, cache, and dalvik cache) and flash.
thanks for the reply....
so, i will update CWM and flash the 2.1 rom....
few more questions pls...
what is it with the Syndicate instructions regarding flashing the modem first....i take it that is if i wasn't on 1.1 already?
also, why does it specifically say that there is no kernel.... do i need to install a different one?
finally, if i do want to wipe out the phone and sd....should i do the cwm/rom install before or after that?

You just need to be on an EC05 or newer modem.
If you're coming from SRF 1.1.1 then you probably already flashed Twilight 1.1.1. What does your build status say? If this says Twilight Hajime-whatever, then you're good, but I personally like reflashing my kernel since my phone likes it.
Why wipe your sd? You can just do 3x factory wipe, 3x data cache wipe, 3x dalvik cache wipe. If you truly wanted to Odin back to stock first, reroot, upgrade to cwm 3.1.0.1 then flash kernel then flash rom.
i never went to syndicate 1.1.1 because there wasn't a full version available when i saw it last, only standard...
looking now, i have SRF 1.1.0 / Twilight Zone 1.1.0
so after i flash v1.2 of the rom, i should download and install Twilight Zone kernel again?
not nec to wipe out the card....just thought i'd give it a 'cleaning' and reinstall the apks i needed again.....

As far as the first part, flash the 1.1.1 kernel from the 1.1.0 thread. It's attached to an old version of cwm so afterward you want to immediately flash cwm purple. You'll want the new kernel in place when the Rom flashes.
Ok, I don't know what I did wrong here. I was running a stock EC05 rom that was rooted. I upgraded my CWM 2.5 to CWM 3.1.0.1, and then flashed the 1.2 rom from CWM. It rebooted, the buttons on the bottom lit up, and the screen stays blank. So, I went back into CWM and cleared all data/caches 3x, then reflashed... still nothing. I cannot even restore my NAND backup. I can only boot to CWM3 :/ Now what???

*ugh* ok, i downloaded and updated CWM both times like you suggested to get me 3.1
i downloaded the 1.2 and rebooted into CWM and selected the zip....it looked like it worked but now i'm getting FC errors and my sd card is lagging when i try to access it (from Adao, Astro or even running apps from it)
did the 3x wipe....but i got less FC errors but now i get 'framework' something something errors...
did i hose myself? *bleh*
i tried a reflash again of 1.2 and still hitting FC errors.....
i'm looking for a link to odin back to flash froyo....then following the directions again to flash the twilight kernel and install the 1.2 again...
make sense?
probably my mistake....but now it worked.... after a couple of reboots, i started from scratch...what i did coming from syndicate 1.1.0/twilight 1.1.0:
1) updated to the two new versions of cwm
2) wiped everything 3x
3) flashed twilight kernel 1.1.1 from cwm
4) flashed syndicate rom 1.2
pretty easy, thanks for the help...running super smooth
I have EC05 right now. Yesterday I flashed to ACS MIUI and it seems to work fine. Today I try to upgrade to EI22 with CWM 5.0.2.7 using modem.EC05toEI22.zip, but I get an error every time:
Updating modem to EI22...
script aborted (no error message)E:Error in /sdcard/firmware/modem.EC05toEI22.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I tried re-downloading the file multiple times from different sources and I keep getting this error. What am I doing wrong?
Just had someone had a similiar issue with a modem.... can you odin back to stock ec05 and it completely flash everything?
It could be a hardware problem if your unable to flash back to stock ec05 and it gets stuck at modem.bin
Otherwise I'm sure someone else knows why its not flashing right... oh and have you tried flashing an alternative recovery possibly acs recovery5 its better. One more thing are you flashing from rom managers boot to recovery or your 3 finger salute?

I odined back to stock EC05 then ota'd to EI22. Except now after I rooted and installed clockwork mod I can't boot into clockwork mod, I can only get into android system recovery, which I can't install a custom rom from. I have tried installing ACS CWM and the latest official CWM via odin and I still can't boot into anything but regular android system recovery using the three finger boot.
What is wrong now?

Samsung put a code into the kernel that reboots the original recovery mode every reboot. Download a custom kernel (which will overwrite this setting.) I recommend nebernal for this as it will work on rfs and I don't know if the others will... there is a qbking vid to properly root on ei22 if this is confusing you... Odin the cwm .tar and DON'T have auto reboot checked. After flashing cwm pull battery and reboot into recovery via the 3 finger method... now flash that kernel I told you to download and boom you now have a cwm tha sticks after reboot!!! Now you can flash whatever rom you would like... btw for future reference I'm pretty sure you have to mount/system in cwm when flashing anything from the new miui and cm roms because of the new mtd partition...

Not sure if this entirely right but with the new partition or reserved memory space the system needs to mounted in order for anything affecting or changing the system to work properly. However to do so its in mounts and storage you'd need to go to mount /system in cwm and then try flashing the ec05toei22.zip then it should work.

Can any of us resist trying the next ROM leaked from Samsung when it can be done without losing root or generating that annoying yellow triangle every time you reboot? Not me!
Thanks to SexTape, Agat & Leaderbuilder, I went from FL16 to GA10 quickly & painlessly by doing the following using Mobile ODIN Pro:
Installed the GA10 Modem from my SD card.
Rebooted and saw that GA10 modem works fine with FL16 ROM.
Installed GA10 ROM
After the auto reboot, went through the usual setup of my Gmail account & app restoring.
Tested WiFi, BlueTooth, several apps including Beautiful Widgets which installs on SD card. All fine.
Used Quick Reboot app (free at PlayStore) to reboot into CWM and as expected, it was the stock 3e.
Rebooted and used Mobile ODIN to install Agat's FL16 v0.3.2 recovery after making sure I had a checkmark in the box to clean the Davlik Cache during the install process.
SUCCESS!
Rebooted into ROM then rebooted into Agat's recovery, made a backup & rebooted into GA10.
Bottom line; Agat's FL16 0.3.2 recovery appears to work perfectly with GA10 Stock ROM
AND by following the steps above, I did NOT lose Root or make the yellow triangle appear!
Glenn
P.S. Here are some additional install details provided by Leaderbuilder:
When you grab the GA10 modem and the .tar file make sure you've extracted the ROM tar from the zip file! It should be approx. 886MB.
Place both on you external SD card.
Boot into a current CWM recovery (I'm assuming Agat's FL16 repack) and flash the modem. Then reboot.
Now open Mobile Odin and scroll down to 'Open File' and select the CODE_SPH-D710.GA10_818252_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.
Make sure you 'enable everroot' and 'inject super user' checked too! Use Mobile ODIN Pro Version and you should have no issues.
You will be told that the 'following partitions have been set:
Kernel, system, data, cache, param, modem, hidden.
Then choose to 'flash the firmware' let it check the MD5sum too.
After checking it will reboot and flash the ROM
Remember Mobile Odin does not flash modems; that is why you have to do it first/separately.
Sweet thank you

Yes, your rom and modem are now GA10 but your kernel is now FL16.
Moved to more appropriate General section.
You know, one other thing I noticed is that Mobile Odin can't repartition or flash bootloaders.
So I still have to recommend going to the PC at least once in a while to flash.
Also, the point is valid - without flashing the kernel you're not getting all of the GA10 benefits.
For example, the Exynos exploit patch is in the kernel.
Easier is to do my rooting method for one clicks:
1) Flash stock kernel
2) Flash Agat's repack and then apply subusybox.zip
(Can post link again if needed)
3) Flash back to stock kernel
Just like the hotspot mod I am sure you don't need FL24 but for the sake of continuity I am providing it. Will do Tar files later on.
First of all a huge thanks to Sextape for the FL24 release. Thanks to Calkulin for use of the install script. Thanks to Chainfire for SuperSU. Thanks to Mattix724 for the install instructions which I tweaked slightly.
Flash or Odin this to get Deodexed/Odexed stock FL24 with latest root (SuperSU), su binary and Busybox 1.20.2. These Do Not include a kernel. The Odin Tars include everything else.
There is a version for no data wipe and data wipe. Make sure you don't get them mixed up.
All of the zips wipe cache and dalvik for you so no need to do that separately.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
Also note that if you are using Agat's FH13 or FH23 stock repacks, do not flash the data wipe zips. It will not boot. For some reason those kernels can't be wiped or factory reset.
This is an Ice Cream Sandwich Rom. As I stated earlier it does not include a kernel. So if you are coming from a Rom that isn't ICS you need to first install a Touchwiz based safe kernel. Like Agat's source kernel. So copy the ICS kernel to your phone. Boot into your recovery. Flash the ICS kernel and then flash this Rom. Or if you are using Odin just Odin the ICS kernel and Rom back to back.

Installation Instructions:
CWM zip method.
*Menus may vary between recoveries. The instructions below apply to Agat's recovery but may be the same or similar as other recoveries..
1. Download the ROM zip to your phone.
2. Reboot to recovery, use a known safe recovery such as Agat's source built, or the CWM EL26 directboot.
3. Put your phone in recovery mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold Vup+Power).
3. Select install zip from sdcard.
4. Select choose zip from sdcard if your zip file is on the external sdcard or select choose zip from internal sdcard if you downloaded the zip right to your phone.
5. Select the zip, If you downloaded directly to your phone it is in the Download folder. Otherwise, it is wherever you put it.
6. Select Yes.
7. Wait for a moment while it installs.
8. Reboot.
9. Profit.
Odin tar method.
1. Download the tar to your computer.
2. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold Vdown+Power and follow the instructions).
3. Connect the phone to the computer (You should see Odin put a Com4 or something like that in the ID:COM box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is that something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it).
4. Using a Windows based computer, open Odin.
5. Make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is selected.
6. Click PDA.
7. Select the tar file.
8. Click start.
9. Wait while the ROM is being flashed.
10. The device will reboot and you are now running the new ROM.
11. Profit.
12. If the phone locks up, give it plenty of time if you think you waited long enough wait longer, for any reason take the battery and sdcard out and let it sit for an hour. Put it back together and try again.
Mobile Odin method.
1. Download the tar.
2. Open Mobile Odin.
3. Select Open file...
4. Check the partitions, you should have a Kernel and a System.
4A. Mobile Odin Pro users, you can choose whether or not to inject SuperSU and Mobile Odin as well as enable EverRoot, this its already rooted so no need to EverRoot.
5. Select Flash firmware, follow the prompts.
6. Your device will reboot and begin flashing the ROM.
7. Profit.

Thank you sir! Appreciate it.
You should get yourself one of those Recognized Contributor titles for all the work you've done.
I'd try getting mine but I gotta wait until a small infraction rolls off my account in about 2 weeks.

About a year or so ago I was PM'd in on some discussions about the Dev section. So right after that I thought I would go ahead and submit my Recognized Developer request since I was included in the talks. I was denied :crying: . Didn't realize there was a contributor option but after that I didn't really care anymore. Just kept on doing what I do.
