Just wondering...does the MIUI camera not support flash??...cus every time i take a pic, theres no camera flash...in low light or otherwise and i had flash setting on auto and on...i really like miui cam but i need flash...running latest release and using tiamat 3.3.3...and ive tried 3.3.8 and salvage zen 2.1....any ideas?
That's odd. When I use MIUI camera, there is a flash icon the upper left corner of the screen. Mine is set to Auto. In low light, pictures are taken with a flash.

So i flashed over and a JRDNEM_U3_2.34.1 based rom... (http://www.simply-android.com/discussion/704/rom-vanilla-w-eclair-1.0.1-122810/p1) and noticed the camera and camcorder shortcuts arent there. I downloaded the camcorder shortcut app and whenever i click it, i get an FC and it goes back to the homescreen. I dont see a stock camera app so i downloaded Camera 360 but the whole process with that app is too slow for me and the image gets stuck unless i play with the zoom slider to reset the camera. Its weird. Now im using Camera Magic and its great but it only captures 1024x768 which is only .8 megapixels. I want to get the camera and camcorder apps working the way they should, what should i do?
Workarounds i found was using ANcorder and Camera360/Fx Camera/Camera Magic to take pics and video but im still looking for the normal use of it. The developer of the ROM seems to have a chip on his shoulder and isnt very helpful so im wondering if any of you guys might have a different solution for getting the camera to work after flashing new ROMs and finding a that as a problem.
Hi,
I flashed my Defy with standard UK MotoBlur Froyo 2.2 ROM but it seems some settings are missing from the Camera software ! (Though it works fine)
Not sure but I have seen on internet people have White Balance adjustment and some other settings. I only have scenes, effects, flash on the screen and Exposure +/- in the settings.
Are there different standard Camera apps on Froyo 2.2 ROMs ?
Is there a better thrird-party free Camera app that I can use from the market.... ?
Cheers,
General consensus seems to be lgcamera best app for photos. ( available from market) also you can patch your phone for 720p recording with same app.
As for stock camrra you have pressed the menu button on phone to see extra settings?
Yes I have pressed the settings, that gives Exp +/-. The little slide away control bar gives flash control, but not much else that I have seen on other stock camera apps.
I got the lgCamera app so I try to use that instead. I was just wondering why it was different. Thanks...
I've tried lgcamera and a number of others on my Defy and none of them have offered anything other than auto white balance. I've got the green lens (aka "SoC") camera, if that makes any difference.
The data sheet for the Omnivision camera module does say that it supports manual white balance as well as auto. It might be something as simple as turning off the AWB enable bit (bit 0) in register 0x5001, in a similar way to that found by franek123 to adjust the jpg compression as discussed in this thread. In fact I'm almost tempted to give it a try, if I can find the time.
I just installed Starburst ROM v1.7 and I just noticed one of the features of the camera which makes the phone take a picture with the volume rocker on the side of the phone, but the volume rocker on the stock phone is for zoom in/out and there is no option to zoom in/out using the touchscreen.... do I say goodbye to zooming in/out for pictures and video?
*** Edit***
.Also, the DSP Manager doesn't work. This might sound like a dumb question but it's basically an Equalizer for music/sound right?
.The LockScreen Mod is not working for me, any fix?

It's pinch zoom.
He also has a link in the OP saying how to go back to the old camera.
Kernel?
ROM comes with 2.6.35.7-LoStKernel+
do you guys recommend installing another kernel? Is Zedomax kernel better?

Personally that kernel gave me LOS. Now I run LoStKernelExp-1.0.0.4 and I don't get LOS, and a little bit more battery life.
I have my epic touch on GB (yeah, yeah i know but i like the stability and power sipping nature of gingerbread), and i was wondering if i could get a mod or get pointed in the right direction on changing the resolution of photos taken by the front facing camera. As well as additional resolution options for the main camera. Im running EL26 but about to got to cauklins modded EL29.
Anyone else give the modded camera a try. I just installed it & I didn't experience any issues. I'll test it some more tomorrow though

Im using Mod rom viper 10 5.1.1
Im realise that latest HTC camera for HDR+ seems like have compress picture to reduce noise in the picture same like google camera apps,
I also try modded google camera apps and the result was almost the same (noise reducing)
which version u installed guys?U have weird noise pattern in low light?
Yeah, super noisy for me too, stock cam takes way better pics.
Are you all on stock or AOSP
I've tried this on both stock and PureFusion, there's always a noise pattern but it's most noticeable in low light pics. The noise starts about 1/4 of the screen away from the home button and continues to the edge of the picture facing the selfie cam. It's only our phone that has this issue so it'll likely never be corrected.
This is somewhat disappointing, as I was hoping this would help camera quality on AOSP roms. I loved LOS, but I couldn't take a good picture to save my life. The stock sense ROM camera really makes use of that camera sensor, as it should. Still kind of bugs me the Google Camera doesn't make better use of the sensor, since it uses the same camera sensor as the 5X/6P (10 has OIS, where the 5x/6p does not), and those phones take great pictures. I know there's more to it than just "your phone has *x* sensor, so we can take some great pics". It's just a little annoying, is all.
