Ok I'm on a rooted G2 running the virtuous sense Rom. I've had back UPS of every Rom I've ever used yet the last time I switched something went wrong and the phone was stuck on the HTC screen I went to bootloader and I went into recovery and tried restoring stock but the only one it showed was the backup before the wipe. My SD card still only has 8gb out of 16 I have like 10 SONGS I'M guessing they still have to be somewhere on the SD I can't find then with astro. Is there anywhere j can get the stock G2 Rom I just wanna go back to stock that's all. Ty in advance n sorry for the question if its noobish

I'm pretty sure CWM defaults to your last backup; I don't have multiple backups right now so I can't verify but, I'm remember there being a means to browse the available backups.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
to browse all your backups you made with cwm go to the root of your sd card then cloworkmod folder then backups.
It wasn't finding them I guess it usually did n list them in recovery. But I want to the root and found them in clockwork I moved them to the SD and it found them no problem not sure why that happened but thanks for the help? I was panicing there for a min

[Q] Error restoring /system!?

Just tried to go back to a fresh backup(30 min old) and I get the message "Error restoring /system!" after a while. Happends on all my backups, with latest Rom manager and latest recovery. I saw a thread somewhere about deleting su-backup, file is not found when trying to with adb so I guess I don't have it. Couldn't find anything else about it, what can I do?
I had a similar problem. I solved it by using ext4 recovery instead of cwm.

You can't just restore the backup? or your phone isn't turning on and stuck on a white screen?
It's just the backup that fails, luckily I still had all ROM files on my SDcard so I flashed Ultimate Ace and now thats what I'm using. Root is back as well, however I still very much need all my apps and settings.
Would you please post a guide on ext4 recovery? I've gotten used to CWM, can you have them both at the same time?

To be honest there both pretty much the same as each other. I just use ext4 because ARHD flashed it when I first installed it. You cant run both together.

Same stupid error with 4EXT
There has to be some solution to this? I seriously can't be the only one with failed restores?
Is it every backup that fails? Or just the one. It could just be a bad backup. As for getting apps etc back, there's an app called "app extractor" (search all one word) which can actually pull your apps and data from a nandroid backup. I believe titanium backup can do this also. Hope this helps.

I just restored everything with TB, forgot it existed. But still, now I'm afraid of changing roms since backups doesn't work. And yes it's all backups, even my original rom backup which has worked before, I'm suspecting the issue came along with cwm 5

All I can suggest is to switch to the latest 4ext recovery. Download the 4ext app from the market and install from that.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I have tried with 4ext as well, it is now the recovery I mainly use because it provided alot more information. But it still gave me the same error, and every time I try I have to wipe and re-flash which means all my settings resets...

Word to the wise. Never restore any system data and settings
I never do, that's why I have to set them all over again, as for system apps I don't think I use any of them except market and gmail.

If someone's still interested: solved the problem with /format system. after that i could easily restore my backup w/o error.

[Q] Can¨t create Nandroid backup

Okay so I noticed this unusual problem yesterday.
I´m using CWM 5.8.4 at the moment, and seems that I cannot make any Nandroid backups.
When I boot into recovery and start making the backup it starts normally and starts backing up the system, but after a while my HOX just freezes and reboots.
I´ve already tried with CWM 5.8.4, the CWM based 6.0.1.5 and TWRP 2.3.1.0, and issue still persists.
I´m not new to flashing, I do know the right procedures, and methods, right now I´m just wondering why the recoveries crash while trying to backup.
Solutions and suggestions?

No easy way huh? I´ll wipe everything and see if that helps.
Okay to clear things out, I wiped everything, literally everything and installed ROM again with a full wipe and now everything works again
Still can't understand what caused the problem though.

[Q] CM10, lost my nandroid backup "no files found" in CWM

Hi !
I've used CyanogenMod 10 for 2 weeks now. Before I installed it, I had done a nandroid backup through Clockworkmod Recovery, to co.e back to the Stock ROM if any problem happened. During these 2 weeks, I would do some updates CM10 was giving us. Then, there's a few minutes ago, I rebooted my phone into CWM and tried to find my old backup (I ain't done any other one, or wipe, or nothing else) and, however, "No files found".
So now I'd like to know, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE ? Is it cause of the daily updates from CM10 sometimes including a change called "6.0.2etc.", which remains me of the CWM version ? I'm really scared I lost it... Now when I look to the new release of CM10, a nightly includes a fix for the error "not recognized backup format type of file" or something like that, should I update and would that resolve my issue ? I'm becoming paranoid, I've got many problems with flashing ROMs and I'm now afraid of updating CM10, cause my CWM is still in 5.8 despite the "6.0.2" changes in the change logs...
What should I do, is my backup still remaining ?
Thanks

Well, actually when I booted into CWM an hour ago, it was in 5.8.4, so it's still the old one... So I wonder if I should update CWM, or updated CM10 which would maybe solve my problem with the backup file fix, but it doesn't completely looks like my issue... I will try anything you suggest in the morning, it's 0:46am in France ^^ One thing's sure, CWM is still in its old 5.8.4 version.
The problem is just I can't see my backup anymore, why and how can I retrieve it ? :/
Thanks overall

What is pc ? And I have access to SD from my files explorer app, I think it's the same with CWM.

Caught in boot loop after restoring nandroid backup

I recently switched from a Samsung phone to the HTC One V, rooted it, and installed a CM 10.1 rom. I created a nandroid backup in TWRP of my stock rom but after I tried restoring that backup the phone boots up past the Virgin Mobile logo but stays on the white HTC screen and never goes past that. It just freezes there. My only solution is flashing back to stock which I've tried but when I try flashing a Rom again I still can't restore my backup when something goes wrong. I've tried numerous times but I get the same result every time. This is my first HTC phone so I must know, did I do something wrong? Is there a different process on HTC phones when restoring nandroid backups? Someone please help me out.

Process is right.... But u have to flash the kernel in fastboot again....
Thank you but I've already tried flashing the stock boot.img file via fastboot after restoring my backup but I still get the same result when trying to boot up the phone. Is there anything else I can possibly do to fix this issue?
