MSN Messenger for my artemis?

Is there a way to get MSN Messenger onto my phone for free or is it a purchase only? I found an old version of Messenger for pocket pc 2002 ( it was via a thread at this board ) which after installation on my phone showed the MSN icon but didn't do anything. There was some update file which I needed as well to make it work but microsoft had deleted it. I'm just looking for messenger the same as it is on my pc, with standard smileys, etc, not one of those messenger clones. Thanks.

Thanks man. Unfortunately, after it goes through the process of trying to install the .CAB file on my phone, it says installation unsuccessful. Not sure why tbh. On their error screen, they say it could be insufficient memory, device may not support it, or that my carrier (T-Mobile) may not allow it. As it installs, it doesn't give me an option to install to either the device or my storage card. Any suggestions?

Excellent, I got it working! I tried out duttythroy's 1.80mb cab file and it worked. Well actually, it said successful install but there was nothing to find of the program anywhere on my device except in remove programs. So I decided to look in my device/windows folder, and all the WLM files were in there. I clicked on the WLMMessenger.exe and it went through the set up process, merging contacts and signing me in. Thank you JamminJaguar and duttythroy.

No problem, now buy my Nike.

Actually, I ended up installing this, uninstalling it and reinstalling it, because I did something wrong with the setup. On the first install, messenger, windows live services and and search bar all showed up on my phones desktop which was great. This time, it's not showing at all for some reason. Maybe because on the second install I decided to untick the search bar and services? So I've copied the WLMMessenger.exe from the windows folder and pasted it into my device/program files folder and that works.

it just so happens, i had that particular .apk in my recycle bin lol

'spare parts' has the same thing but a bit nicer to use

dude my hand set is sumsung galaxy 5.ur posted application does nt work on my set.but i need that application.plz plz help me.my phone memory is too low.i cannt install so much applicatipons.can u plz uplaod this application for that set.plz plz..

I´m also looking for this application, i tryied to install it in my HTC Aria and it failed, it says that it couldnt be opened as an APK file.
Is there any alternative program to use?

Oh boy... Ok, you have only 16 posts... Install "Astro file manager" (download via the Market), click on the apk, open with Astro, and proceed as usual for the install.

was looking for this yesterday because I reflashed my phone to stock with CWM. thanks for this. now my recovery image is perfect!

I still can't move installed files to my external SD. I installed the app but when i choose "move do sd" it stil move the app to the internal app.
I am now for days trying to discover a way to move games to my micro sd. There is no point in have a 32gb sd and use it only to videos and music. And with app2sd and all apps in Google Play doesn't work with Optimus 2x.

Has anyone got the G1 version to work on the G2 and if not will there be a version for the G2?

^ hmm good question lol i didnt even think of that

after thinking, it says you need a vcast subscription so seeing how we arent on verizon i dont think there is any way to get charged.

Everytime i download this it will not work and says "download unsuccessful" help anyone" i miss this app!

you have to download it via computer, you cant just download it on the phone, once you down load it on the computer, drop the file into your SD card. then use a file manager to view the SD card and install the app from there.

ive downloaded via dropbox and transfered through usb to my device and it always gives
'Application not installed'

Worked great here on my G2. Thanks

do you have a file manager like astro?
if so, all you have to do is go to astro and open the file on the SD card and it will ask u if you want to install it...
other wise try to down load it directly from a computer save the file copy it into the SD card and then try astro... maybe the drop box is whats causing your error message...

yeah ive tried both through dropbox and through astro. same result

thats wierd, it worked fine for me... i dont know what could cause that

not sure either it worked fine on my vibrant
ill see if i can find another apk to install

just ripped the old apk i had on my vibrant off and that one installed

It simply means, you put in on your sdcard but not in any folder of that sdcard, just copy of from your download folder to the main "sdcard" directory. (root)
You say you have problem when flashing it, can you be more specific? You end up in bootloop or... ?
You really need to follow the MildWild's instructions.
1.Full Wipe
2.Flash part1
3.Complete reboot(that means, you let the phone boot up, dont try to restart it to recovery)
4.Let it settle for a few minutes
5.Reboot into recovery
6.Flash part2(DONT WIPE ANYTHING before flashing part2)
7.Reboot and enjoy.

Check your Downloads folder in root or connect USB to PC and check for recent updated folders:good:

I'm not aware of any problems installing from the downloads directory, I do it myself

I always follow MildWilds full instructions ive got the 2 files in the downloads file so what your saying it to take them out of there & paste them onto the sd card next to the closed files?

took the 2 files out of the folder as instructed deleted everything flashed part 1 rebooted then nothing just the htc startup screen so left it for a while so removed the battery flashed part 2 but same onl startup screen what is supposed to happen after the fist part is flashed?

yes using 4ext recovery its not that am totally new at this but its got me lost

all cool guys i'll be sending you all a thanks for your help but it must have been corrupt files that I downloaded cos I downloaded them to my pc then pasted them on the sd card it works like a treat

Anyone else having the app crash when you go to the mildwild-settings-notification area energy saver (don't know what the correct english term for that is, using the german rom at t he moment) and try to open the menu for possible display brightness settings?
Not a huge problem, but if it happens for everyone, it'd be a small bug

Settings> display> brightness works fine for me

Desire in mess

Hi guys I have Htc Desire and it is acting wierd since My brother pulled battery out while it was sending 2 email.
Since then I gett all errors like android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly and lots of other like google services stop.
I need my contacts but as I enter contacts It gives me that acore error and returns me to homescreen...I dont care for data just contacts..
Also phone wont search for wifi and it turns by it self bluetooth and it wont go to airplane mode..
Help please..It did not sync all contacts to google and I have like 1500 of them inphone and on google just 35.

Try downloading a contacts app from playstore and if it manages to run ok you could back them up to SD card then do factory reset.

Press phone/people/menu/manage contacts/export to sdcard (mite not be exact, depending on rom)
That will copy all contacts to a file on ur sdcard (v card r something then save the file to pc, just incase for future) then u can factory reset ur phone.

Cant go into people cause it gives instant error that throws me out in homescreen.
I can be swift and press all that in 2 secs but then I end up with vcf file with nothing in it or few contacts,,

Balls, have u tried htc sync? U can backup contacts, data etc via that.

Yes I did..no luck

Maybe you could try safe mod.

Only other way i can think is possibly pushing a different contacts.apk via adb commands
Try here to set up adb and fastboot, follow the guide to learn how to push an apk to /system/app, or may even work pushing it to /data/app
Try several, I previously used go contacts but there are plenty on the play store which you could download
Hope that works, though I've never tried this myself don't think you've got anything to lose.
