Hi Developers
Some info first -

Carrier: Vodafone - India
Android Vers - 2.2
Baseband version: 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-27227-g3c98b0d haley m4-dev #1

I bought this phone new from a retailer. Its been a couple of days since the device was activated. However I have not received the OTA yet.
Settings > Check updates > Device is up to date.
Is there some procedure to update to the latest Android version.
Any help highly appreciated.
PS - I would like to keep the phone clean with only the official update, and not root it.
I'm a Newbie to the Android family
Off topic, but very important!
Hey Ramesh,
I knw this reply is of no use to you and am being a bit selfish here. But can u plz help me wid sum info on the Nexus one. Am plannin to buy one asap after reading a lot of reviews. Can u tell me what price did u get it for [Am from Bombay] and if its worth it [since its an old model and out of production]?? The Samsung Galaxy Ace is my other option. Would be great if you cud shed some light - more so about the memory for App storage. Thanks in Advance! And sorry again!

[Q] How do I see a "branding" and any news on updates to froyo in Switzerland?
Hello everyone
Please accept my apologies for my rather noobish questions. I am new to that Android business as I was using "normal" mobile phones in the past.
I live in Switzerland and I bought a HTC Desire from a provider independant shop a few weeks ago.
Question 1:
I did not ask at the shop (but I will within the next few days I guess) if I got a branded HTC Desire with my 24month plan with Sunrise (one of the Swiss providers).
Now, is there a way to find out if my HTC Desire is branded? I mean, of course beside having some sort of logo on it which it has not.
Questions 2:
Hoping that it is unbranded I think I should get the update to Froyo sooner than later.
Has anyone in here (preferably from Switzerland) any information of when we might get Froyo? And if someone already got it, would you like to share when that was and what provider you use?
Thanks a lot
Regards
scheuri
Hi there
I have no idea how to check if its branded. But if you got it from digitec.ch, then its not. I got mine from there.
I'm running froyo on my desire for... probably 2 weeks now. If you didn't receive a notifier, you can check manually:
"Einstellungen -> Telefoninfo -> Systemsoftware-Updates -> Jetzt prüfen"
On english devices it whould be something like this:
"Preferences -> Mobile/Phone information -> Systemsoftware-Update -> Check now"
Hope it helps
Kind Regards
Hi Soul
Thanks a lot for your response.
I am trying the manual update every day several times to no avail. Appears that for my phone (still unknown if it is branded or not) the update is not available....unfortunately.
However, given another thread it might be that HTC pulled the Update back. So I guess more waiting is in order.
I do not mind waiting a bit longer, but I really would be upset if I had to wait just because of sunrise. Reasons is: I thought I bought a "regular unbranded" phone.
Thanks again

This is my first post and before I start I would like to say thank you in advance for any help I may get, I do not take it for granted and I am very grateful.
I bought a Clearance Desire from mobiles.co.uk which is supposed to be unlocked and unbranded, when I try an OTA update to try and get froyo I get the message that the phone is up to date. Current Firmware etc is:
Firmware version: 2.1-updated
Kernel Version: 2.6.29.0cb9f166
Build number: 1.21.405.2 CL174215 release keys
Software Number: 1.21.405.2
I have been trying for 2 weeks with no success.
This is my first phone of this type I normally make do with my sons old phone.
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thank You
Frank
You can find what you need in the following thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741518
Thank you, followed the instructions and it updated just fine. Does anyone know why the OTA update cannot be located on some phones? Is it just this update or will I always have to manually update?
Frank
It's not a issue of the device, but rather that you are trying to update a little late to 2.2, although other users had the same problem when the OTA was just released.
In other words, you will most likely get further OTA updates the easy way .
help me!

I have the same details but I got my handset from O2.
Can one of the non-O2 sourced SGN user post their information or confirm they have the same as us.. so we curious O2 users can rest assured?
My phones4u unlocked handset is exactly the same versions.
Hello,
I am very new to the Android scene, I just bought two GN from expansys. And it seems that one of the phones is google version which is fully updated but the samsung version wont seem to update.
Please note: I am in canada and have yet to put a carrier sim in it. just wifi for now. my specs read,
baseband version i9250xxkk1
build number: i9250xwkk5_ITL41D
Should i return this phone for this? The phone works great and has a great screen so I am hoping I can just keep it. I am moving to the uk in feb so I ma thinking once I put a uk sim in the update will get pushed to the device?
thanks for you help.
What's your build name in the build.prop?
its says in my settings that the build number is i9250xwkk5_itl41d
which is weird since most people have just the ITL41D OR F version. mine seems to be longer. maybe this is what the samsung update was?
thanks for the reply btw
I'd just reflash it all to the latest google build if I were you.
sounds good I will reflash it. I can only follow instructions in numberic sequence. is there a link that I could get that shows me how to do that?
thanks for reply
