I would really like to get the 3D, since my Evo's battery is dying and it would presumably cost about to same to upgrade after trading in my Evo to sprint for $150.
So, if I am correct, I'll be able to trade in my Evo, and then use my $150 upgrade to basically get the 3D for $50?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've never done this before.

I've heard the $150 went to $100 today. However other stores do buybacks too (Best Buy, RadioShack).
But yes, if you go to a corporate Sprint store, you can hand over your Evo for an instant credit on your purchase.
just traded my Evo in for the Evo 3D at bestbuy, they gave me 137 for it, plus sprint gave me an upgrade early so it only cost me 74.99, they didnt seem to care that i was rooted and running a custom rom

So im looking to upgrade from my Evo 4g to a Evo 3D the only problem is i dont quite know what would be best. I got my Evo 4G around october and its in really good conditions since i have had it on my Otterbox defender case most of the time. Is there a way that I can trade the OG Evo and get the Evo 3D? I can only spend about $100 on the Evo 3D. What would be my best choice?
Sorry if i make some mistakes my main language is spanish
I would take it to sprint, and see what they offer for your trade in, or try to sell it on ebay, you could easily get 200$

Start with friends/co-workers, or bump up to ebay.
Take it to radio shack they will give you $100 for it towards the purchase of a evo 3d but since you just bought the evo 4g back in october unfortunately you will have to pay full price $599 for it minus the $100 trade in

I would never pay that much for a upgrade. The most im planing on paying is $100 even if i have to renew or extend my contract.
Well I hate to break the bad news to you but you're never going to get a good phone with that kind of budget

Yes, but you need to have the $150 upgrade credit and trade your Evo to get that deal. The OP got his Evo in October, probably not going to get the $150 upgrade credit.
I know sprint has a "buy back program" where they will give you 150$ for the EVO 4G and you will only have to spend an extra 50 to get the EVO 3D. I am not sure how long they are having this offer but I know for sure lasts till the end of June.
*Note: you have to renew your 2 year contract for this to work.

Full Price is $399.99.
If you are over 1 year into Contract Sprint will "reset" your account to 24 months. That will lower price to $199.00.
Sprint will also credit you $150.00 for old EVO 4G. If it's version 2.2 Froyo DON'T update it !! you can probably get $300.00 for it on Ebay (at least $200.00).
Keep in Mind EVO 3D is not Rootable yet. And could be a very long wait.

My apologies I don't know whether to put this here or in Q&A.
I went to Sprint, RadioShack, Best Buy, and the spot on the XDA website and got several drastically different trade-in values for my phone. The range has been from $50 to $80 (over $115 on a best buy giftcard). I then see people here and on google+ selling it for $100 to $250 for thiers.
My original plan is to wait for someone to miss the physical keyboard enough to trade their Epic Touch for my Epic. But I doubt that so how much is this phone really worth? Sprint still sells it over $500 and I know I can't ask the $499 for it ($300 probably still be to high) so what is reasonable (and most profitable) asking price (or price range)? OR is there a way to get more for trade-in?

no one here is going to really get 200-250.
you can find very good condition epics on craigslist for 125 all day with all accesories. i just bought a "bricked" epic yesterday to play with for 51.80 on ebay. im sure ill get it running in a matter of minutes of getting it.
these people asking 225, but then claim we are all a freindly super happy community should sell them on here for a more appropriate price to thier geek buddies.
I see. Well I guess criagslist is my best bet. I'll have to wait until November when I'll have extra money.
Sent from my un-rooted Samsung Epic 4G with XDA Premium
I would think the retail price of the Epic will plummet soon after the release of the Touch so it may be harder to get anything over $100 selling a used one. I know there have been recent instances of people getting $200 for Epics (usually unlocked ones), but most sales are in the $125 range as austin420 said. I'm probably going to ditch mine once I upgrade next month, so we'll see what the market dictates then.
You're probably right. Also anyone know how much the Epic Touch is with the one year $75 upgrade (cause clearly $199 is more than just $150 off)?
Sent from my un-rooted Samsung Epic 4G with XDA Premium
I sold mine for $215 but it was new (backup phone). My current Epic is in near mint condition and I'd be thrilled if I got $150 for it once the replacement drops.

I would personally pay a little more for a phone from here than I would from craigslist. I just feel like I can trust you guys a little more and I think take the same care with your phones that I take with mines.
Nothing would be worse than the get a perfectly working phone on craigslist at the time and then have it stop working a week later due to water damage. Sure, I can happen anywhere. I'm just a little more trusting about you forum strangers.
I went to my local sprint store today and they said they will give 125 for my epic if I was to preorder the e4gt.

3% to PayPal and 9% of grand total to ebay IIRC and shipping was not included. Anything more than what gazelle or buymytronics was offering was gravy to me honestly. I didn't want to deal with craigslist either for some reason...

Ok let's try this, how much would YOU be willing to pay for:
-Used, fully functioning Samsung Epic 4G runing Android 2.2 an has never been rooted.
-Orignal Box and Manual
-Original USB charger
-2GB AND 256MB MicroSD cards and adapters and small protective case for them
Or would you be willing to trade a Samsung Epic Touch (even if was just the phone with no charger or microSD) for the above? (Really wants this phone x.x) Though I don't expect any one to want to trade at least not for another couple of months.

You might get $120 for it but people are gonna be disappointed with no 16gb sd card since that's what it shipped with.
You might find someone willing to trade for the epic touch if you throw in $150+ with your phone.
I think your best bet is to order the epic touch when you find a deal, wirefly had it for $130 pre-order a couple weeks ago, then sell your epic4g to recover most of the cost.
Edit 2: I have seen some epics trade for nexus s 4g's so that might be something to look at as well.
The thing you have to think about when trading/selling phones: are you selling a phone and an upgrade credit, are you buying a phone and an upgrade credit? That's why newer phones sell for so much more because it cost someone their upgrade credit to get it.
Ok thanks

And you guys are so helpful ad looks like $130-$170 is all I get for this phone. Best Buy gives $107 gift card or $76

Okay. Well first of all, Verizon doesn't provide in-house insurance. They go through a 3rd party - such as Asurion. And secondly, I *think* as long as you're paying your monthly insurance payment it should go through, but perhaps you should contact them and make sure that the policy has indeed crossed over to your new phone.
If for some reason it hasn't carried over and someone gives you a hard time about it, stop into a store and tell them your assurion fell off when you did a sim change. They'll usually throw it back on for you.
It -should- carry over, though. If you purchased a different type of insurance (such as Protectcell) then you'll just want to call that company, cause it's usually transferable.
Not sure what I went through. All I know is that I don't pay a monthly fee, I paid the 100 straight up.

I was looking over sprint's website yesterday and noticed the E4gt is $99 and you get a second one free. And they give you $98 if you trade in a e4gt so i was considering adding a line to my account so I can get my friend off craptro pcs and buying her a e4gt. Then activating the second one on my line and trading in the one I am using now essentially getting two phones for a dollar plus tax. Would this work or is it an account credit?

unless your e4gt is a beat up piece of crap, you can sell it for more than 98 dollars on craigslist or ebay and get cash money, not a service credit.
round here, a good condition epic touch with a clean esn goes for about 250.

I was wondering if any one who had a ns4g and used the sprint insurance was sent a galaxy nexus. I've known people who have gone from an epic to epic 3d and now a gs2 just by putting in a insurance claim. My nexus needs to be replaced and I'm trying to figure out if I should use the insurance or just by a used phone since I'm not eligible for an upgrade.

If there's nothing wrong with your device it's definitely "morally dark-gray" to try to finagle an upgraded device for free but if there's something wrong with it why are you asking us? Use the insurance that you've been paying for.

There is a laundry list of problems with my phone. I don't want to get stuck with and gs2 or epic 3d which I think would be downgrades. Another ns4g would be fine. I will be paying for the insurance deductible, which I still pay for monthly, and instill plan on upgrading in a few months. I am not trying to get something for free.
I just want to know should I pay my$100 for a replacement or go buy something from craigslist to buy some time.

If there's something wrong with your phone you won't have to pay the deductible. Just take it to a local Sprint corporate store, sign a form absolving them if they lose your data (make a backup and restore it to stock beforehand obviously) then give it to them for about an hour. They'll either fix it on the spot, order a replacement at no cost to you or if you've had 4 or more/ assurion is out of NS4Gs you'll be offered a similar device of your choosing.
