Seriously, it’s about damn time. The Wireless Charging Battery Cover for the HTC Thunderbolt first showed up back in April, but just like the multimedia dock (which has gone completely MIA), we’ve been stuck without it. The good news is that it’s looking like you can walk into a Verizon store this weekend and pick one up, however that may be your only option for purchase. For whatever reason, we’re not seeing it listed in Verizon’s online store at this time. Cost is $29.99, but don’t forget that you’ll need the charging pad which is available for $69.99.
Cheers ___!
I called a few corporate owned stores in the Nassau/Suffolk area this morning and none of them have this in stock, actually they all say it is absolutely not available yet. If anyone has any luck tracking this down can they possibly post a picture of the packaging back and front as well as the receipt so we have the VZW sku numbers. The website listed a part # of HTC6400WLDR before they removed the page a few months back. OP was quoting droid-life.com on this one and I'm wondering if they were sent some bad info...
Picked up the back and the charging mat. Not worth it. Charges slower and heats up the battery to about 46°c

Was thinking about getting this but I think I'll just stick with my Trent battery and call it a day. It charges just as fast as plugging it into an outlet.
$100 to charge wirelessly seems a bit steep to me
If they made one for the extended battery, I'd give it a shot.
Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use a dock? I mean the point of this is convenience in charging the device

Anyone know if there is a release date for this yet?
The last rumored release date was April, so who knows. Have you seen the price though? $40 for the battery cover and $70 for the pad, ouch. And it adds a little hump to the back of your phone
I was wondering the same thing, I've been waiting for a wireless charging setup.

Yea that price is rough. The problem is that I have very little to no reception at work and it just eats my battery. I keep my phone plugged in while I am at my desk but take my phone with me when I leave so I am plugging and unplugging thirty times a day...

Same. Ill definitely be buying the wireless charging stuff. Checked my phone.. time without signal 91% eeeeek lol
Where do you look that up?
If you're at 91% something is wrong, also the pad is a one time investment it will work with any device that you get the cover for, so you can charge this phone and then your next phone so the price isn't as bad as it seems when you consider a new OEM charging cable is like 20$
I wonder if the QI inductive battery cover will be compatible with an old palm touchstone charger? Those are super cheap right now. Or if it would be as simple as doing a touchstone cover/charger combo conversion similar to the ones done with the EVO, but simpler because the contacts are visible on the inside of the case?
Just me thinking aloud but I would love to see if there is any interchangeability with these standards and googling isn't turning up much.

I've tried this, but when I have them both in my cart, the pad shows up as $52.49 and the Cover is still $29.99
And it won't allow you to add the Charging Pad to your cart if you have the Thunderbolt selected as your phone. I had to select the LG Revolution to be able to add the pad to the cart.

I had the same problem, after chatting extensively with an agent i was told there is an issue with these, they issued a help ticket and it should be fixed tomorrow. She also said the induction cover fits both standard and extended battery.

Both? Really... I may just get this then...
i'm still waiting for them to allow us to charge our phones wirelessly just carrying the phone around on us and not have to rely on barbaric electrical outlets.
I called vzw customer care and after a bit of a workaround and speaking to internet support he just had me go ahead and purchase the charging pad for $52.99 after my 25% off discount and then went into account and added the charging door at $0.00 and noted the reason

I don't see how it could work with the extended battery. There isn't enough of a bump for this cover to work. The bump we do see in the pics is for the parts added to the cover to make the wireless charging work. I did just order it though and had no problems with adding it to my cart. Hope i get it by friday.
I received this combo last night. While I do not own an extended battery I can confidently say this won't work with it. The hump in the inductive replacement cover houses the hardware that allows the charging process to work. No room for anything else.
That being says it works flawlessly. Put the cover on, plug the pad in, put the phone down, the pad beeps and away it goes.
Only downside is that it adds thickness and will require me to mod my car charging cradle for the phone to fit with this cover.

Had a feeling about not working with the extended. Thanks for the info
How do you find the charging when compared to plugging in phone directly? Does it take longer?
Thanks,
Bryan
Sorry, but I just put it down and walked away. I think it was around 50% when I put it down and charged to 100% when I grabbed it like 2 or 3 hours later. But I'm totally guessing. No solid stats recorded yet.
Tonight Ill put it on there and record how much she charges in an hour.
Will they honor this deal in store? I would probably buy it if there was a case that would fit the battery and still allow wireless charging.

Looking at the lil idiots guide that came with the pad, it says it outputs at 1000ma. so it should charge it just as fast as a physical connection.
My output says 500ma. It's pretty slow. This came off the HTC door instructions and not the LG mat instructions.
I had to modify my otterbox case for it to fit by removing the padded backing in the shell.
I also do not get a full charge. It gets to 100 but when I take it off it jumps right down to 95. Anyways I know the last 10% is truly based on efficiency but I would say that inductive is not the most efficient means when compared to conductive.
Bottomline: cool idea, would I have paid full price, probably not.

I am usually on the go and have had problems with my vibrant dying on me. I would like to buy a spare battery and wall charger which are both efficient/quality and affordable. I use my phone extensively when I travel and it acts, almost, as a life line for me. Please advise with information on potential solution.
Thanks.
P.S. This question may have been asked before but can someone provide updated info/links.
Heres the wall charger I use - http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Battery...ccessories&hash=item4aadd9fa50#ht_4889wt_1313
not sure about the battery because i paid a little more for the 1650mah one
this battery comes with a 3 year warranty - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BATTERY...ccessories&hash=item231427e052#ht_1381wt_1313
I bought an OEM spare battery with charging box on Amazon for about $25 six months ago. Maybe it would be cheaper now?

Awsome 3500 MA Replacement Battery With cover
Hey Brother, I run a Largecar for a living, and I use my phone more than anybody else I know of, including, navigation and as a speedometer!
This battery's worked out really well, and its incredibly priced right!!
The cover works perfect on my T-959 Vibrant even though its advertised for an I9000 which essentially are the same phones!!

Oh and BTW one more thing, when you go to Modding/flashing your phone, don't use this battery, take it out and use the OEM Samsung one, because its lacking some signature or code internally, and I found out the hard way, it wont allow ODIN or CWM to function right!! ODIN fails to pass until I swap to the OEM, and CWM wasn't acting right as well
Hope it works for you, It sure has for me!!
My battery is completely dead and is swollen to the point where I cant even get back cover on. I was looking to pick one up locally and I live in Chicago and thought it would be pretty easy to find replacement. Its not at all. Even the Sprint stores say they are all out of stock for replacement batteries for the E4T they only have the extended ones for 100bucks. I really dont want to be out of a phone a the few days that it will take to ship. Are there other phone batteries that work in a E4GT that may be more common that someplace like best by will have in store. Thanks
The OG epic....make sure u return that battery to Samsung and make them send you a new one. It may take 3 weeks, but your gonna need that

Just came across same problem in Orlando. 2 sprint stores, 2 batteries plus, 2 radio shacks, and one best buy. Nobody has our battery. Batteries plus could order it for me, and it'd cost $45. I ordered 2, plus an external charger off amazon, paid for overnight shipping, total cost $33. Regular shipping total was $14 I think.

Order on Amazon. I don't know if best buy carriers them in store but the do carry an extended battery and radio Shack has the same one as best buy. Check stock at stores around you. Or take it to your service provider, I think Sprint might switch it out. You can get the one from best buy or Radio Shack for like $25.

Cool, a sprint store gave me a battery even though I was out of warranty. Actually they didnt even see my phone. I pulled out the battery and showed them it was about to explode. She grabbed it took it in the back and brought out a new one. Its a 1500mah but she said to come see her tomorrow and shed give me the 1800. Very nice of her.
Also guys don't forget ATT and T-Mobile have Galaxy S2 in case something like this comes up again. Lots of swollen batteries lately.
Any sgs1/sgs2 battery will fit but sgs1 batteries are only 1500mah instead of 1800. You can find pairs with external chargers for about $25 on Amazon, Hyperion, anker and empire are the best non OEM brands. I'm actually going to sprint tomorrow to get mine replaced if they have any in stock around here, and then once I get a replacement I'm gonna order a pair with charger off of amazon so I have 3 i can rotate to help prevent the bulge reoccurring. Mines not super bulged but once it drops below 40% it will flicker and shut off and when i reboot its dead until I plug in and reboot then it jumps back to 40%+. Its quite annoying

Hi,
I am on the latest available software. All of the sudden, got the black screen with red edges at the periphery. Reboot and battery pull did not help. Would recur as soon as phone boots up. So I restored to factory settings, which solved it.
Now my phone shuts down as soon as battery goes down to 60% or so. I have to plug it in, then I can turn it back on, and it shows there is stiill more than 50% charge left. So my phone now needs to be charged every 2-3 hours with any usage. It is 1 year old.
Any ideas? Do I need to buy a new battery, or is this more serious issue (with phone itself)? I do not have the insurance, so taking it to the store is going to be a bit expensive.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks
Sincerely,
Check your battery, it most likely has gone bad. For some reason, when this phone is about a year old, the battery will mess up.
How to check if battery is bad:
Take it out, spin it on the table. If it doesn't really spin, it's fine. If it continues to spin, the battery is definitely going bad.
I'm saying this because my phone battery messed up back in August, while my dad's E4GT got messed up last week.

Well, Not quite. It is true that I have to plug-in to start the phone, but the battery IS NOT discharged. That's the interesting part. I usually still have more than 50% charge left when the phone shuts down. That's what worries me the most.

It's your battery. Try the spin test.... it'll spin. (May not look like it's bulging much but when you compare side by side with another battery you'll notice it.
Sounds like what my wife was going through a few Weeks ago. Turned out it was the battery. Check Anker batteries on Amazon or Ebay. $20 get you two batteries plus a travel charger. Ever since I replaced my wifes battery, she never had any random shut downs any more.

Unless you were one of the first people to buy your E4GT you should still be in the 1 year warranty... meaning it should be covered at no cost. TEP is definitely covered according to corp store folks. IMHO just head over to Sprint store and push them to do a battery exchange for free.
They could push you to do the mfr. claim... but most won't.
Thanks Everyone!
I think I am just outside of the year warranty. I got mine a few days after the release. Will try Anker from Amazon. Spin test is definitely positive. We have another ET4G phone in the family, bought at the same time, and its battery did not spin. Will get two replacements as I suspect the other will die soon as well.
Thanks again.

They are replacing batteries free of charge outside the 1yr warranty. Both sprint and Samsung are, with Samsung you have to mail in the battery and wait to get a new one, but if you end up buying a replacement its a good way to get a free OEM as a backup

Did u go to a corporate repair center? 3rd party vendors/franchise repair centers don't seem to have alot of batteries in stock, the one near me doesn't even sell batteries. If you need to contact Samsung, I just called the support # on the website and got a rep in about a min. I explained my phone was just over a year by about 2weeks and my battery had swollen and was causing the phone to run extremely hot and randomly shut off. He then said that they warranty the battery separately from the device and it has an 18 month warranty and he was going to email me a shipping label to send my battery in. I printed the label put it in a bubble wrap envelope with the battery and put it in the mail. 10 days later I received a brand new OEM battery in a original plastic box. No charge for anything. I had already ordered and received an anker replacement from amazon for $8 so I didn't have to go the 10days with no phone. But for $8 I now have 2 batteries a brand new OEM and a brand new anker. The anker was labeled 1800mah but when i received it it was a bit thicker and heavier than my bloated stock one, I put it on my tester and it registered at 1950mah. It came charged at 85% and lasted all day ~12hrs right outta the box. The first 15% dropped fast, about an hr then it stuck at 70% for over an hr while I was on the web the whole time and then evened out and settled down.

Ebay is quite possibly the worst place they could have directed you to. Ebay batteries are generally Chinese mock ups with less than stock Mah and inferior cells. Grab the anker batteries and call Samsung, politely hassle them about the battery and they'll give you one.

Just an update. I called Samsung and told them of my woes. They said that since my phones were purchased in October, they were no longer in warranty, but he said that when he ran my dec numbers, it showed as still covered. I was emailed shipping labels and have to send proof of purchase along with my battery back to Samsung. I have purchased a few Anker batteries that will hold me over until the new OEM ones arrive.
Thanks everyone for the assistance.
