Install apps from Amazon app store - Flipside Themes and Apps

I don't know if anyone has heard of this app, but as I was trolling the net looking for any 2.2 android roms for my sister's flipside, I came across an app in the android marketplace called, "Non-market Apps Enabler" by Bandroidx. It costs $1.69, but after installing it, I now had the option to uncheck or check install apps from non market sources, or whatever the thing says. So now I can install apps from the amazon marketplace or and 3rd party site and not have it blocked by ATT. Of course the phone it rooted and unlocked. Give it a try guys.

Yes, that's how I unlocked my unknown sources. I would have loved to been able to do so the running codes way, but I'm just not that comfortable doing that. Couple bucks to make my phone MINE seemed worth it to me. Plus, since I have link2sd, when I installed it, it immediately linked it which makes the app think it was uninstalled which resulted in a refund, but I was able to keep the app. So I got the app free and still enabled unknown sources. I would gladly pay the dev tho for his hard work.

Remove Amazon App Store and keep apps?

Not sure that I like the Amazon App store running all the time.
While I like the free apps they give away, it requires you to have the appstore on your device.
Any way discovered to remove the appstore and still use the apps?
I don't have the amazon app store. (Not sure I want it now!!) I seem to always read the posts about whatever they gave away for free the next day!
Anyways... Just thinking here- What if you either back up the apk for whatever app you want to save on your PC? or Maybe try backing it up with titanium, then uninstalling amazon (I assume your "freebies" would go bye bye at this point too) and then restore them?
Love to know if this works or if you figure out a viable solution! Good luck...
Nope. The APKs have DRM in them that connects to the Amazon app, which then checks with Amazon to make sure you're authorized to have that app and run it. You're SOL unless you want to unpack and hack each and every app and its update.
Apparently it's up to the app maker whether or not they want to have the DRM, but all of the free-app-of-the-day's have had this DRM.
Blah, that sucks.
Don't know if I like to have Amazon App store on my phone.....
What's the big deal with having it installed? Seems like a small price to pay for the paid app giveaway. Granted, it takes a couple megs of storage, but other than that I don't see all that big a problem.
yeah really, imigine if you weren't rooted youd have tons more apps you can not get rid. Amazon wants to give away apps every day hecks yeah i'll keep their app
I've had the Amazon app since it came out, and cannot notice a difference in performance or battery life.

If it causes battery drainage, try freezing the amazon app via TB and see if the free app still works?

Last >$5 app I got from Amazon was Zenonia 2 I almost pissed my pants because I was hesitating whether to buy it or not
I can live with the Amazon app store. I have been getting the free apps since Angry Birds. I have a lot of apps. I use it to store the apps until I find a use for them or download into a different device. It also is the only way you can get app updates.

+1 on that. I was initially hesitant to keep amazon app store. I realized it aint a big deal keeping it there. It gets me some of the paid apps for free that i really want... and also provides updates. i think its totally worth it.... even more if you play games on your phone coz most of the featured apps are games.
I like the amazon appstore for the free apps and also because you can load the free apps on more than one device. My wife has a rooted Nook Color and I put the amazon appstore on there, now she can have the same games on her phone and the Nook Color.
I still use the official Android Market when I actually buy an app though.
Is this the Amazon MP3 store? I tried to look for it in the App Market but I have no idea what it looks like lol.

You're not gonna find it on the android market, it's a direct competitor to the android market made by Amazon. The reason they're giving away a paid app for free every day is to try and build a userbase and lure people away from the android market. A lot of the paid apps on there are also less expensive than the same apps on the Android Market.
You can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011
Wish there was a fix...all of my valid apps from them continue to tell me I need to reinstall (Guess the validity check has failed?)

Downloading apks.

My evo is rooted and I want to try some apps before I buy them. I know Google doesn't want you to download apks from the internet so they try to block them. Sometimes I can get them to download and sometimes I cant. Is their any way you can get your evo to bypass this? I don't want an app from the market. Maybe a file I can delete using root explorer or something?

No that's not the problem. All that does is let you install them. I need help downloading them. It downloads them sometimes but most of the time it doesn't.
Downloading them from where? If you are downloading them from a 3rd party site, then the problem is with the site itself. Unless you are having problems downloading everything. If you are only having difficulties downloading apk files, then try getting them from another source.
I've noticed certain apps do not install, unless installed from the market.
One such app is google maps. After switching to cm7, gapps wanted to install maps 5.31 (current version). I wanted 5.0. Manually installing 5.0 would fail right at the end with a "unable to install" or "installation unsuccessful" message.
Pushing said app to /system/app, adjusting permissions, then rebooting yielded success.
I can install them I just can't download them.
warez is bad mm'kay. don't discuss in thread. pm peeps for that

How are you trying to download them?
Why don't you download them using a computer then transfer them to your phone via USB?
Note: I'm not condoning piracy.
9 out of 10 users have pirated apps before. Its not right but people do it.

I think of if as a free trial, then I always buy them to get the updates. I have a few that I paid for and never use because I went over the 15 minute limit. I also have a few paid ones that are junk, FC a lot and the dev abandoned.

I probably have 10 abandoned apps I've paid for that don't even do anything when you click them; just says no link or something. Some of them from early android days. Bastard devs lol

Yea a buck isn't so bad, but $5+ apps with no trial, demo or free version you bet Im gonna hit up 4******.*** and look for an apk and give it a run.
Ohh 4*****.*** sucks. I got something wayyyy more epic! Lol

If you're using 3g/4g to download, make sure you have the Sprint proxy disabled. It may or may not cause problems.
I kind of understand "trying before you buy"... as long as you buy. I just hate how people feel like these apps should be handed to them, like they're entitled.
I can't say much since I pirate music, but I always make sure to purchase from the bands I really appreciate, especially the lesser known & local bands. That's kind of how I view app/rom developers, they're local to the community... so I always either purchase the apps or use a free alternative.

Market unlocker

I just downloaded market unlocker on my ego 4g an I tried to install it following the instructions that was given but I still can't get it to work....can anyone out there that has gotten it to work help me get it up an running ?....thank you...

Never heard of it until now.Pretty neat little app.
Wtf is market unlocker? And why would one need it? Nothing on my market is locked, unless this tool is for kanging paid apps in which case shame on you, if you're gonna kang something atleast work for it and crack that ish manually lol
I'm going to assume it's like market enabler. Try that. I have used it a few times in the past to get some Verizon exclusive apps.
Boo
Just looked it up. Seems as if it will let u download apps that are not for your specific country or something. No use to me so not trying it out.

Sounds like something I don't need I have ways of getting what I need without some rogue app to do it lol
We are legion, for we are many.
Its not warez guys, its for people in different countries try new apps before they are released.
Market Enabler lets you access paid apps in Android Market
For some apps are just enabled for some specific country and not available to the other countries,so it is very difficult to download many high quality software.Market Enable lets you access paid apps from countries where paid apps are not yet available.

newbie question

Hey guys i have recently bought gnex
i m newbie to android world
do i need to root gnex if i want to install downloaded apps and games on gnex ?
my friend told me that i dont need to root my device for that
is it ?
and how to install apps in that case
Nope... just go into security and check allow unknown sources. You will need a file browser as well to find the apk you downloaded and then tap on it and install it.

dont pirate apps/games.
buy them on the market. without devs being paid, none of this is possible.
if you were asking in general.... play store is where you get it from, there are also alternative markets (amazon app store, slideit)
Unless you really need Titanium Backup or custom rom, you don't have to root. Every phone is make to work out of the box, rooting is for developer options, or access file-system.
Enjoy your Gnex
99.9% of apps work on the phone without a problem. If you want to use other stores **** the Amazon App store then just follow the earlier posts instructions. Apps that require root are mostly apps that can have unintentional adverse affects.

[Q] Android market GONE

Hello,
recently, i decided to root my phone so that i could get the free in app purchases. Whenever i would use Freedom V0.8.4 to do the hack, it would only work for 4 times, and by then the google play store would update. To solve this, i tried disabling the google play store, but that didn't work. So then i did some web surfing, and found that Android Market V2.3.6 doesn't automatically update, so i rejoiced for a moment, downloaded it, and installed it. then when i went to open the android market to make sure it worked, it was nowhere to be found. not in the application list in the application manager, or anywhere else. Then i remembered, before i had installed the market 2.3.6, i had left the "disabled" part checked for google play. Also, when the market had installed, typically it will give you the option of "done" or "open".The only one i could click was "done", as the "open" was not able to be clicked.
Now i am unable to do anything that would require the market. i even tried installing newer versions of the android market, and they either didn't install, or did the same thing as v2.3.6
Please help, i really dont want to do a factory reset.
thanks for any help
My info- att samsung galaxy s3 sgh- i747
rooted
Since you're using an app to get free paid apps, you're not gonna get any help.

Did you try replacing the play store with a a current version and then fixing permissions and not stealing from people that used a lot of their time to bring you content?
