Sup guys. I need help with rooting my HTC Desire HD, i want to use Unrevoken but i have a problem: in the compitable list it says htc desire not htc desire hd, does the hdh also counts as a desire? Thx guys and sorry for my bad english
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Hi xOMG. I am not sure about Unrevoken, but as far as I know, the Desire HD actually can be rooted using VISIONary+ app.
The app has been removed in the Market. But you can go to this site and download the apk file for installation. http://android.modaco.com/content/software/320350/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/
You may consider downloading any file explorer from the market so that you can install the apk file. Read the steps carefully before you use VISIONary+. Do it at your own risks. Lol.
EDIT: Oh by the way, your English is not bad and its perfectly understandable. Really.
Cheers. =)
I tried V+ but it "Crashes" after the black screen, had to wait more then a minute, is that okay? Should i try it again?

I am at version number 1.8....
I need to downgrade to root. I was always of the understanding that my device was already rooted I have s-off and i just checked in bootloader.
I just want to know what is the best way to back up my data before hand?
So once i am rooted i can put it straight back on?
Yes. You have to have build number below 1.72xxxxxx in order you to use VISIONary+ to root your device. Else the rooting process will not work. I have my build number 1.32xxxxxx when I first bought my Desire HD. So it means I do not need to do any downgrading.
Pauly_k, in the first place, what are you planning to back-up? The stock ROM? If you are planning to switch to other ROMs, the app ROM Manager from the market, can be used as a tool to switch ROMs and also back-up ROMs. If apps and everything I would recommend Titanum Back-Up app.
When you do a Radio S-OFF and/or ENG S-OFF exercise, you do not need to on and off it back everytime. You can just leave it OFF all the time. It will not affect your device in everything e.g. performance. OFFing it allow you to gain full access into other area in your device such as to flash new radios.
Unless you wish you send back your device to HTC for say, warranty purpose, then yes of course you have to ON it back. Lol.
Cheers.
Hi everybody, I'm very sad and desperate. I used a tutorial on CyanogenMod wiki to root my HTC Desire Z and flash CyanogenMod custom ROM into it. I just wont to try it. After few days, I decide to unroot my phone, but I was so silly, that I used tutorial I found via Google to do it but, the tutorial is was only for T-Mobile G2, now I have HTC Desire Z, with S-OFF and T-Mobile ROM and I'm unable to flash stock ROM. So, pls can anyone help me? Thanks a lot!
Why did you want to unroot?
Sent by my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
I want to flash back stock ROM, so I think it's "necessary"... I'm so dumb. Now I flash back CyanogenMod, but don't know, how to flash back stock ROM...
You didnt do a nandroid backup of your stock rom? Could just flash that over then unroot from there.

I don't have any backup... Now when I power up my phone, it came with white screen with HTC logo on it
I unrooted a DZ today using the guide in the G2/DZ wiki
If you need any help hop over to #G2ROOT IRC
Already saw it, but correct me if I'm wrong, this tutorial is only for T-Mobile G2, because of this - PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1 - but I have O2 Desire Z

Did you use the method in the wiki to root your phone?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
I used manual from CyanogenMod wiki, but as I realize, they both are same.
So you have the partition7 backup?

I have two bin file on SD - part7backup-1310501326.bin and part7backup-1310064212.bin - but I realy don't, how I should use it.
If you need step by step advice I really do recommend heading over to #g2root irc.
Have you got to go back to stock for warranty purposes or did you no like any of the roms you tried?

I perform root only because HTC promise Gingerbread update till end of Jun, but nothing happend, so I did it. But am not satisfied with CyanogenMod ROM, it's drain my battery, and also I have troubles with Gmail notification.
OK, I'm going to try IRC.
GB update has just started to roll out.
If your not comfortable following the instructions in the wiki. #g2root is the best place, the guys there a very helpful and knowledgeable.

Am stupid, sorry for that! Didn't read the whole wiki entry... now I know what with part7backup... But I have one more question... Should I correct this command - /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.19.531.1 - to /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.34.405.5 - because as I realize, zip you linked me contain 1.34.405.5 ROM version.
Depending on your software version you may not need to use that command. Go in to settings>about phone>software info. And check your software version.
Sent from a phone that is not a HTC Desire Z
I have CyanogenMod 7.1 RC, but in location you pointed me, there is no SW info...
Umm, ok. If you put the PC10IMG.zip on the root of your sdcard and boot into bootloader. Depending on your software version it will either accept the PC10IMG.zip or give you message about your software version being higher than the other update you are trying to apply.
If it accepts the PC10IMG.zip let it flash then continue to follow the instructions in the wiki.
I would like to put a quick disclaimer here. I'm no expert on the ins and outs of rooting. So follow my advice at your own risk.

Most of them won't notice, I sent my 1st rooted, s-off DHD back in, but I'm American, and AT&T doesn't know anything about development. but the ACE hack tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821) can easily reset your DHD to stock, just press "o" ... simple eh?
If I helped you, please hit thanks!
What carrier are you with

Click on the filefactory link in the first post. These are the newest available RUU.
From your location tag, since ur from UK, the RUU roms available from the link above are only for Three_UK, TMobile_UK and Orange_UK.
As a reminder rooting and downgrading after the repairs from these RUU will require a goldcard, the warranty repair center will upgrade your rom anyway to the newest version anyways as per their procedure.
The ACE Hack tool return to stock above only works for for AT&T, Telus and WWE CID HTC__001.
Forgot to mention my dhd is unbranded I've read the advanced kit but its quite hard to understand :/ can anyone help me with a breakdown of what I'm supposed to do?? The user above who said just press 'o' what does that mean?

Hi guys I have a HTC wildfire, and when I got it, it was locked to Orange (UK) and
thought I would root it, I followed a full guide here on XDA and I used HBoot x.2 to x.1 downgrade then rooted with revolutionary and it has successfully been rooted with ClockworkMod Recovery v.2.5.0.1 and with any rom I flash, it will say "NO service" requesting a sim unlock code at lockscreen unlock.
I REPEAT ORANGE (THE ORIGINAL CARRIER) does not give me a signal.
Does anyone know whats wrong?
Do I need a newer radio?
I went to some market stools with people that have the XTC clip to unlock phones and they needed to find out the original carrier, I told them 'Orange' they said they can't do it because every sim card they tried, they couldn't get a signal so they couldn't modify it.
Thank you.
Try to Reflash the Radio.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
Yeah, most probably going to need a radio reflash... check out the complete wildfire index (stickied on the wildfire development forum) to find a list of radios.. try them all one at a time, and one should work!
Good luck!

Yeah, update: I flashed a Rom that came with a radio update but it was the same radio so I guess reflashing was the solution lol, thanks

So i flashed the Desire Z H-BOOT on my T-Mobile G2 so I can use sense UI (specifically sense 4.0). Th radio is outdated on the H-BOOT I used and wanted to upgrade. I don't know if this would be a noob question, but can I just flash the regular radio that the G2 gets in the OTA (26.13.04.19_M) or is there a specific radio for the Desire Z so I can use that? I had a problem where I can only hear calls when a headset is plugged in or speaker is turned on. I think its the radio but i searched everywhere and can't find a solution to my problem...
Thanks in advance!
There is a radio thread in the developement forum with all the files and instructions you need, follow them closely. You can flash whichever radio you want in that thread and I don't think there is a clear way to tell which is "best" unless you know someone in your area that has tested the different radios, it depends on your location, carrier, distance from tower, etc. Some give more siganl but drain battery faster, some are battery meisters but siganal is not so good. Try a few and see what works best for you, just remember to follow the instructions carefully.

hey man thanks for the reply.
i dont know if there are specific radios for the desire z cuz i have the desire z hboot. the radio i flashed is the same one i had when i had the g2 hboot. you think that their might be a radio specifically for the desire z or is the hboot outdated?? ill have to look into that.
thanks again for the reply!

No, there are no specific radios just for the desire z. I have the eng hboot 0.84.2000 for the desire z installed, my phone is through Bell Canada but I actually get better reception/battery with a T-Mobile radio, don't remember which one at the moment(been a few months sinse I flashed it). Not sure but I think that is the only eng hboot available, maybe someone who knows for sure will chime in....
sent from my Desire Z using XDA premium app
Alright thanks bud! I guess my proble might be with the actual hboot. I'll see if I can find an updated version. You know any xda posts where I can find all of the desire z hboots??
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA
No expert on this, but I don't think an outdated Hboot would cause your earpiece issue. I've never changed from the stock Desire Z Hboot on my phone (purchased Dec 2010) and never had any such issues over multiple ROMs.
Its not clear from your OP, did you flash a new ROM yet, or what ROM are you on? Did you wipe data, cache, and Dalvik before flashing the new ROM?
Agree with Redpoint73,earpiece issue is ROM or hardware,I assume you also wiped the EFS data ? Good practise but not sure will help your problem, no need to "update" your hboot, nothing to be gained.
Wipe your cache and see if that helps,if not try a different ROM ILWT CM 7 is a good effort

I know it isnt a hardware problem because ive never dropped my phone into any liquids, nor have i dropped it from a large height. I was running the ICS JIBwich rom thats sense 4.0. Thats when I noticed the problem. I then restored one of my backups (the instructions from virtuousrom.com told me to) and i still had the problem. Im on CM9 beta and still have the problem.
Im pretty sure its a software issue because i saw some other people have the same problem when migrating to the desire z hboot from the g2 one.
i think im just gonna go back the g2 hboot and then try again with the desire z hboot another time. I just want a stable ICS rom wether its sense or not lol. the sense rom was very stable up to the point where i noticed the earpiece problem.
Thanks for the reply though!
EDIT APRIL 25,2012: So i went back to the G2 HBOOT and still have the issue. It can't be a hardware problem because it happened right after I installed the Desire Z HBOOT. Right now im using the G2 Slim v1.6 ROM and i still have the issue. I saw somewhere that someone was running android 2.2 and when updated the problem was fixed, but I want to keep my rooted phone.
Anyway, thanks for your help and Ill keep searching for a solution to my problem.
