Hi everyone
i have 1 really annoying problem after updating the official 2.2. When I lock the phone, while listening to music, after 20-30 sec the music stops (doesnt matter the player). There isnt a problem when its unlocked. Does it looses the connection with the SD card or something? Some may say its nothing or stupid but its a big deal for me. Any ideas ?

Try to factory hard reset your rom, (turn off, now press power on + vol down key) once you see android with ! , press the volume up and down keys simultaneously and do a factory reset / wipe
Before that backup your stuffs and also format sd card if you doubt some RW probs.
Thanks a lot. It works now

I have a problem with my O2 XDA IIs, the sound works perfectly for playing MP3's etc both on the internal speaker and on the external plugin headset!
Where's the problem? I hear you asking!
Well, the sound does not work at all when in a call, the caller can not hear me and I can not hear them, although the call is connected OK. The only time I can hear the caller or be heard is if I plug in a sync cable or put the device in the sync station, at that point it works ok when in a call. I belive this to be a power requirement as it also works when I plug in the car charger?
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this problem, it has only been occuring for the last few days and I have not changed anything during this time which could have caused the problem... I know that's what they all say, but it's true this time!!!
Have you tried getting rid of unusual programs running in background? (Try 'Startup Manager' to take off some startup programs) or wait until any expert put a word on it.
There are only 2 entries starting and they are both the same as they have always been, the problem does appear to be quite random, as though every time I remove the sync cable something either happens or does not happen??
Does anyone know if there are any switches or anything attached to the sync connector on the phone which might be causing the problem?
I had a problem not unlike what you describe. It started after the battery ran very low on the phone while I was away from home.
The Phone would only work while in the cradle, and wouldn't work when out. The Speaker Phone function disappeared also.
I re-flashed the ROM.
I downgraded the ROM.
Re-formatted the storage card.
Took the Phone apart looking for a switch that might be stuck.
All to no avail.
Contacted Qtek who wanted me to return the phone.
So I tried one last thing before I gave up.
I left the phone with the Battery attached to run down again. (I left it for about a week)
re-charged the phone and its been fine ever since.
The conclusion I came too was it is a software register on the phone that was corrupted and the total drain of power cleared it.
When you ran the battery totally flat did this not clear all the stored data and installed apps etc? Only I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it?
Couldnt tell you sorry, I had already lost all data/apps with the reflash/formating.
No worries, if you hear or find anything elsewhere about this problem please let me know as this is getting very very annoying now!!!
Patch
Hi guys
This is a tipical problem of the BA. I had the same problem at the begining. This are the steps to solve it:
1. Backup your data (only contacts & meetings)
2. Hard reset of the device (press micro + On/Off button + reset)
3. Install the "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" patch
4. Do not restore a whole backup (you will have the same problem again)
So it would be work fine. If you upgrade to the lastest ROM you will get this bug fixed too.
Good luck!
Hi i have the same problem and try a diferent approach.
Upgrade radio to version 1.15.
Problem appear to be solved.
I upgrade the rom yesterday, once i have change the board, and downgrade the rom.
What is this "PDA2k_UniDirectional_Patch.sa.cab" and what does it do exactly? As I'm already using the Radio 1.15.00.
Sound Patch
This file fixes the problem when you do not listen to the person who has called you.
You can download it from:

Hi all, first time posting on this forum
Had the Desire since last Friday and for the first time tried out the FM Radio on it. All seems well at first but after a few minutes use the app just stops responding completely and the Radio continues to play whatever your currently listening to. You can still manipulate the on screen buttons but nothing happens at all. You cant change stations, re-search for stations doesnt work its just effectively stops the current station from playing, or change anything via the menu button. The app power off button on the top right stops working and the only thing you can do to make the Radio work again is rebooting the phone
This is very frustrating because i use the radio on my phone alot normally. Is this a software fault or hardware fault or something else im missing here?
This would be a software issue. Would you be willing to try a Hard Reset? By performing a Hard Reset, this will return your phone to the state it was in before the first time you turned it on (factory settings). This will hopefully eradicate any software bugs that you are experiencing with the handset.
Note: A Hard Reset will not remove the data and files that are in your phone’s microSD card. However, a it will permanently delete all your data and customized settings, and will also remove any applications you've downloaded and installed. Be sure to back up any data and files you want to keep before you do a Hard Reset.
A Hard Reset can be performed using two different methods:
Method 1: Performing a factory reset via settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.
1. From the Home screen, press MENU and then tap Settings.
2. Scroll down the screen and then tap Privacy > Factory data reset.
3. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.
Method 2: Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button..
3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
4. Press VOLUME UP to start the factory reset.
I had the same issue a while ago, I haven't used the radio since as I can't be bothered with the hassle of finding out why.
Factory reset seems to have worked a charm Will test some more later but seems to have corrected a right pain of a problem
Nice easy solution, thank you Mastoid, your help was greatly appriciated

no problem Bud, anytime
No, i was wrong. It hasnt sorted the problem as its back exactly as before. Is it just a poorly written app or a fault elsewhere
Ok after the problem persisting i contacted Orange and got the handset replaced but to my disappointment the new unit is doing exactly the same thing
I havnt even been able to pinpoint what triggers this from happening. Sometimes it happens after a few minutes with it on in the background whilst casually playing with other apps, other times after it stops working and locks up after a phone call and other times after the Radio has been playing and the the phone is otherwise idle and you press the power button to bring the screen back on
The only things that are the same on both the old and new handsets are the sim, earphones, and 8gb SD card that were swapped between the old and new phone but surely they could not be the issue???
I have read on other threads/forums that a few other people are having identical problems but im really at a loss and cant believe its because i have had 2 faulty handsets in a row with the same problem
It's not a handset problem, the FM radio app locks the phone up so something is going rogue.
The strange thing is my Dad got the Desire as well and ive tested the Radio a couple of times now at length and his works perfectly without freezing up. Could it be something sim card related? I shoved in my own reformatted 8gb sandisk SD card...could there have been data on the original SD card that it accesses whilst the FM Radio is in use and as the original 4gb card's not there the Radio player locks up? Corrupted software twice on 2 seperate handsets? I really havn't got enough tech knowledge to know if these things are possibilites or if im way off track
I would guess it is most likely due to another application running in the background which is taking resources or preventing the radio application from getting resources and then the app starts to lock up. I really don't feel like removing my applications 1 by 1 and testing though.
I had a similar problem it turned out to be the task killer I was using. I put it on the ignore list and restarted the phone and its working normally now.
I don't know if its same issue as yours but might be worth a try
Unfortunately not - the only app i installed was 3G Watchdog. Suppose the only thing to do now is uninstall that too and retest
I have exactly same problem , it's totally random, we need to contact HTC about this problem , it is clearly software problem , really i think that all units are faulty ,manu people just didn't test radio yet. My friend also has same problem.
Europe stations.
ok , i just contacted htc support and their response is to try to boot desire in safe mode, i just did that , and again freeze , radio is playing in background, but GUI is totally out of sync in fm radio app , buttons doesn't react
mines been fine, mines unlocked - used radio loads this last week, on and off for around seven hours a day, is you're desire branded/locked to a network? maybe oranges software?
i've the same problem, also randomly the radio starts to scan for new stations... it's really annoying but i managed a way to stop it, simply putting my finger on the "picker" a couple of seconds stops the scan.
I've got also a problem while listening to mp3s, the phone randomly switchs between tracks when in standby.
like magic , can be reboot by the key Combination....
Is there any key Combination to reboot desire?
SOLVED

Well I've been in a situation where an app has crashed and no buttons worked including power. I had to remove battery but I'm sure this would have worked. You may need it one day. So be grateful.
Unfortunately, this completely skips the "silent boot" app on relaunch.
Great tip
I still reboot my device once a day....WM bad habit
this is NOT a factory reset? just a reboot? is that correct? could the users having the "phone won't shut down" issue just use this instead to reboot cleanly?

It's not a factory reset or hard reset. The key combination just does a soft reset. Give it a try; it won't hurt.
thats great!!! thanks. I always have problem opwering down the phone to restart, so will try this instead. cheers.

when i first got my hands on the desire after installing and deinstalling apps I got the error about a lack of space available when trying to install apps even though i only had 3/4 apps installed, so i got rid of the task manager and now i just reboot the phone after installing or deinstalling apps or if i have been on youtube or doing a lot of browsing, it seem to keep the phone running smoothly and havn't seen the out of memory error
ive not looked in to this so it is just a presumption, the phone runs a clean up on shut down and this is the reason why the phone seems to hang when shutting down as it is deleting unused files, I noticed that when you shutdown (power off the phone) after heavy use it would always take a lot longer shut down the first time, if you then done a power down for a second time shut down was quite quick.
or maybe im talking s********
ive tried the key combo and it seems like a forced reset rather than a reboot? anyone care to comment?

I know what you're talking about. That's what I thought too (ie, the phone does a clean-up at shutdown). But then why doesn't this happen on the HTC Legend? I have both devices and the Legend has no issues shutting down regardless of up-time.
Anyway, I've noticed that rebooting the phone will often recover chunks of internal memory. Presumably it's just freeing some from some sort of cache. I've not noticed whether it behaves the same if I reset via the key combination versus shutdown-and-then-power on.
Thanks for the tip!
I'm glad I found this out, When my phone gets to baggy to access a app killer or even to get the power off menu I use this, So much faster than removing silicon case then back then battery and then having to stick it all back together
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It works, but then it hangs on the white HTC screen.
I'm sure some of you know of me and my recent phone problems of it having a random bootloop every few times I press the Bad Power Button I've had. I found a solution for a while which consisted of 2 apps, One that's a widget that allows me to lock my phone and another which is an app that allows the sensors on my phone to work continuously so that If something moves in front of it it will turn on. Now One day as I sat down i heard a faint vibration and finally noticed my phone fell into a bootloop once again.. I did the normal and tried to make it to Recovery Mode and then Wipe the Cache..After many many tries... More than Normal.. I finally got into Recovery Mode and wiped my Cache..But even after doing so it fell into the bootloop once again shortly after I finished wiping cache..Didn't even get a chance to hit "Reboot Phone". Did the same thing a few more times before giving up and resorting on trying to go into Download mode.. I can't even get into Download mode since When I hold down the VOL + VOL - Buttons and plug in the USB it continues to vibrate.. I have No clue what To do Next. I WOULD love to just return to T-Mobile and receive a replacement But I fear that they might find it is rooted and charge me for the full price of the phone.. Also I'd love to have transfer all of my messages and Other Personal Data off my SD card to my laptop.. Help Please? If there is a way Can i take everything off my SD without having to completely get it out of this bootloop ?
so yesterday i found that my volume buttons dont work when i press them. the volume up button is fine but volume down is strange. when im playing some games or just doing something with my phone randomly volumes down without pressing anything. and when this problem occured my phone became slow like when im scrolling the app drawer, playing games. tried factory reset, different firmware. nothing worked. now i cant even go to download mode cause it auomatically like presses volume down and reboots. any help? is my phone messed up?
Phone will be slow (JB/GB) if you have memory swap and card is not good. For swap you need class 10 GOOD card

well actually i was at stock rom no swaps no nothing. and i think i resolved the problem when wiping system. i was messing with pimp my rom. then i got fc statusbar so i factory reseted. after few hours i was getting lag, volume buttons were lagging so hard that when i pressed volume down it would work and when i watch videos, play games the sound gets down. vol up was fine tho.
