Hi
I have 2 questions:
1. Is it possible to create a playlist directly from the folder which has been uploaded to the SD card? A lot of my music doesn't have any tags, so in albums/artists/genres these tracks end up being under one huge Unknown folder, which is really inconvenient.
2. Is there a way to create different profiles/modes? E.g: Outdoors, Meeting, Silent, Normal? Old SE phone used to have it..
Thank you!
1. If you have winamp, you can add all of your music to playlist, select them all (ctrl+a) then right click > send to > auto-tag, wait until all done than click apply all. now your music will have artist, title, album etc. About create playlist directly from folder, well, I don't know about that

Is there a way to import other playlists (.m3u specifically) into the HTC audio player/manager? I've browsed and searched with Total Commander, and can't find where they are located. I found a folder located at Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng called "playlists". But the folder is empty (I created a short playlist in the HTC player to help in locating the folder).
Anyone know the location, format of the playlists, and if there is a way to import or convert existing playlists from other applications? I have CorePlayer too, which works well. But I like the way the HTC player is integrated into Touch FLO 3D.
I wouldn't be that hard to re-create the playlists manually in the HTC interface. But its bugging me that there isn't an easier way to get it done!

I know this is a semi-old thread, but just found it using a search. Have you figured this out? I'm trying to do the same thing on a Topaz. I did read in one post that the playlist files are .asx. I've tried copying .asx files directly to the HTC playlist folder you mentioned, but that doesn't seem to work. The playlists show up in the Library>Playlists screen, but they appear empy when selected.

I have the same problem. Originally the playlists will go to Storage Card\playlist. HTC player sees the playlists but come up empty. If I copy the playlists to Application Data\HTC\Audiomanager_Eng\playlists, the playlists are double in my playlist view.
Both will be empty but I can add songs to the playlists which are in the HTC folder. Please help..
Solution
I found the solution in another thread. Install the attached file Playlistmgr.cab on your device. (i hope i attached it correctly) Then run the program and open an existing playlist. Within that program, in the "File" menu select "HTC Audio Manager". Then select "Save Playlist As" and give the playlist a name (i belive it can be the same name). The program should automatically save the playlist to the correct location for HTC to recognize. You will probably have to perform a soft reset before the new playlist will show up in TF3D.
Hope this works for you.

Try creating an empty file named .nomedia in the folder you don't want the media player to use, if your using copilot this will be the /sdcard/copilot/ folder, you will also need to reboot after doing this
Thx i will try it immediatly
What is the best music player on the Desire ?
Something that ideally supports mp3, m3u, flac, wmp, wav ogg
Stock supports MP3 and WAV. Flac is supported if you root and install CyanogenMod. I haven't found any player capable of playing M3U, WMP or OGG yet.
I'm pretty sure MortPlayer plays .ogg (brilliant music player BTW) - I could be wrong though...
If installing CyanogenMod allows for flac playback then then pushes me that much closer towards rooting my device - just need the courage as I've heard one or two stories of people bricking their phones. I wouldn't consider myself that much of a noob with these things but I hope someone can come up with a noobs guide to rooting your Desire...
TuneWiki is the best, has more than just music playback!

Ahem... The built-in player supports playing OGG files...
Thanks for the tips. I prefer MortPlayer which can play my files even if they are not perfectly rendered ID3 tags and have no album cover.
One thing that annoys me about most of the newest phone on the market is that it requires you to create a playlist of some sort.
Back in the days when most players would work just by simply playing all the files inside a folder.

Meridian can do that. You can navigate through your sdcard, long press the desired folder and play all (and a few other options)

Not mine it doesn't. Copy and pasted files into a directory and played. Not until a few days later did I set up a few playlists. This was using the stock player but was also playing around with TuneWike and 3 at the same time.

Thats something thats annoyed me too. I just want to play files in my folders, not spend ages making a playlist........ Just downloaded Meridian and its doing what I want. Thanks for the tip off.
I just make sure all the tracks within a folder have the same 'Album' name, that way when you sort by album, they're all grouped correctly.
You can do this in Windows by highlighting all the tracks within a folder, then right click and go to "Properties | Summary | Advanced" and update the 'Album Title' field.
It can be instant, or take a minute or so to update the album name, depending on what type of ID tag it uses.
Is there a way to add specific folders to the music player? On my phone, the player automatically adds voicenotes and audio from whatsapp which is pretty annoying. I would like it to choose only the music folder.
anyone?
Put a blank file in the folder named .nomedia
This will prevent android from scanning the folder for any media (music, pics, videos, etc)

I am really surprised to see that .nomedia had any desired effect in your case. I'm trying to exclude those files in my WhatsApp folders from appearing in my Galaxy s3 music player as well as in the gallery. I can do whatever I want, these files ALWAYS are visible.
When trying QuickPic i am able to exclude mentioned folders and no pictures apper in the QuickPic gallery, but they do prominently appear in the Gallery app. the same goes for audio files. I tried to exclude them from DoubleTwist media player. Actually they never appear there, no matter i have a .nomedia file placed or not.
I have no understanding, which folders are scanned for media. And I cannot say that ALL folders are scanned because that would mean my mp3-ringtones under Ringtones shall appear in my music player media list?
So for me it is hard to believe that the .nomedia trick will do the desired effect (keeping WhatsApp media files out of my galleries and media players).
Actually browsing the web a bit, it seems I am not alone with this experience and I am surprised, that there is no clear description about that ominous .nomedia file. I do not say it has no effect (it does have in QuickPic - but that is about all), but not the effect everyone is talking about.
So I am really curious how you managed to have those files eliminated from your media lists (gallery, music player) by simply putting the .nomedia file in the respective directory
Thanks
mtfh
The .nomedia file did the trick just fine on the S3 mini. Thank you.
@mtfh: a late answer but, after creating the .nomedia file, try restarting the phone. Also, I guess it depends whether your (music player/photo gallery) app reads for .nomedia files to ignore those directories. In my case, I created with ES File Explorer a .nomedia in the following locations:
WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Audio/
removed the audio files from the stock music player
WhatsApp/Media/WallPaper/
removed the whatsapp custom wallpaper folder in the stock photo gallery
As for:
WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images/
I actually liked having that folder in the photo gallery to check all whatsapp pictures in one place (without opening whatsapp itself), so I left this folder intact.

I know I am going to seem dumb as dirt, but we just got our first smart phone a few months ago. I am learning a lot with it, but I just cant figure out how to do this. I can figure out how to tap the lower left corner while in my files to create a folder. But for the life of me I cant figure out how to do this. If I click on the music note on my player it brings up a list of all my music and the ringtones, but I cant do anything with them other than shuffle them or delete. I cant find a specific folder with all ringtones in it. I have dl a couple of apps that have ringtones. Can anyone give me a step by step?

Do it like this:
If you have all your music files in a folder called Music, rename the folder by adding a dot to the folder name with a file explorer app. (like this: .Music)
This way the albumart isn't visible in gallery (have done this myself)
Keep in mind that some music player apps aren't able to find the music in the folder when done the above.
In my case Pulsar+ couldn't find my music in the folder if I let it scan for music.
Omnia (from the same developer as Pulsar+ is working fine tho.
With Omnia I have to manually tell Omnia in which folders contain music.
While Pulsar+ just scans the phone for folders containg musicfiles and I can add exclusions afterwards.
Keep in mind also that some file explorer apps can't find the folder after you have added the dot in front of the folder name.
I am using Solid Explorer and have to enable 'show hidden folders' in the app settings after I have added the dot.

Now inside my SD card, i cannot create .XXX folder as it says "You must typre a file name" Error. BUT, inside Music folder - when i copy my music albums i renamed them to .music succesfully.
Now, the albums are neither appearing in my gallery nor on my samsung music player

I am sorry to hear that my suggestion didn't work for you.
Then i would suggest to revert the changes you have done and hide the folders containing albumart in the gallery app itself, like user brunsman6229 suggested.
