I have unlimited gps usage included in my plan. Telenav works on stock but when I downloaded it after flashing sfr1.1.1 it says I have to pay to use it.
Is there a fix to this? The all-knowing sprint reps wanted to just reset my phone.
Sent from my Epic 4G via Tapatalk
uninstall telenav.
Install SDX app remover from here
From this post, download the EC05 package.
Extract the contained system_apps.zip\apps\system\SN28-1100-sprint-signed.apk
Place SN28-1100-sprint-signed.apk into your sdcard under "\sdx\backup\app\"
Run the SDX app. go to manage backups, select SN28-1100-sprint-signed.apk, and hit the restore button.
you must allow root access every time SDX asks for it.
This will give you the old sprint nav app that will update itself to telenav.
or pm me your email address. I have the free telenav that it upgrades to on my phone. I even accidentally downloaded it like 3 times.

Okay my phone was refreshed and I had to reinstall all my apps. I can't see google talk in the app marketplace. I also can't find it on appbrain.
I searched around for a while to try to figure out what was going on, but can't find much other information about it.
I doubt the app was pulled or i would have probably heard of it.
Can i get a QR code or link to the appstore or an APK or appbrain?
I wish I knew as well. I ended up reflashing my rom to get it back...
OP.... what you need to do is download a rom and extract it.
go into the folder " sytem" then "apps"
get the talk.apk our and either adb install it or put it on your SD card and use root explorer to move it to the system/apps folder on your phone.
Hope this helps
hmmm why would I need to do this? was it pulled from the android marketplace for some reason? i'm just curious, i'm pretty sure I had to load it on my phone before from the marketplace.
i probably will just end up using another messaging client, because I don't really want to go through all that for an app I don't use very much.
in any case thanks for the advice, i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who can't find it..
It has been included in every ROM I've installed. Maybe find it in the gapps pack for Cyanogen?
I'm not even rooted... i'm not using a custom rom.. i'm just using the stock sprint issued evo.
I was having issues with the phone and they restored it to factory defaults which made me lose my apps. The last time i rooted was the intial unrevoked (which later was lost with an OTA update)
No idea what to tell you then. Talk is part of the Google apps that are included with the phone. Most every ROM I have installed includes it. Cyanogen doesn't include a lot of these because they aren't allowed to be distributed by third parties and their team is good about sticking within the rules.
If something screwed up you should just factory reset the phone if you only want stock. Better yet, do a proper root and install whatever app you want
http://cyanogenmod-mirror.local.host.name/gapps/gapps-hdpi-20101025-signed.zip. Must be rooted to flash obviously. Do not know if this zip will work with Sense ROMs. It contains all Google apps (Market, Talk, Google Voice, etc.) Good luck. Not guaranteed that this will work. Use at own risk. Do a backup first.

ah i see my problem, i am an idiot. google talk IS preinstalled on the phone. i kept thinking i had to install it, couldnt find it in the market and gave up. i didn't even think to look in the app list on the phone....
that said, yea its about time that i did a proper root. ill have to read up a bit to be sure its easy enough- i have all the OTA updates, and htne ill go for it.
thanks for the replies!
Since at first we will not have access to the Market directly I was thinking that the best way to load aps would be with Titanium Backup. I have an Android phone now (HD2) that keeps the aps I use updated. By using z4root v1.3 or something like it to "root" I could just use my backup from the phone to keep my Adam aps up to date as well as to load them in the first place.
Any thoughts/discussion on this method or other ideas on how best/easiest to do it?
I plan on using dropbox and save all my apks there so I can access them from my Adam and install on the fly

Dropbox is an excellant way of handling it.
I plan to use dropbox to get my Titanium Pro and then use the Titanium batch mode to load the aps so I don't have to do them one at a time. I will have to see if I run into over write problems. Want to start with an initial Titanium full BU anyway on the Adam.
I will probably use mostly the same aps on my phone and Adam. The phone stays updated automatically from the market and I do frequent back-ups using the Titanium batch mode for new and updated aps. If I then did an ap restore on Adam they would all be current and updated as well. This method should keep me current until the Honeycomb market opens.
AppBrain Market Sync
AppBrain Market Sync will not work in this case because the device needs access to the Market for AppBrain to work. Just FYI. AppBrain is really a Market filter and search engine not an app storage depot.
Update: Other tabs have AppBrain working fine so I am sure the Adam will have it working as well.

I'm sure someone will get the stock Google Apps and Google Market running on the Adam in no time...
--edit--
Check out rothnic's thread called Eden Plus for an update.zip package for rooted access and stock Google Apps added.
First and foremost before we do any playing around, even after root, we should make sure full NAND is working. Having a NAND backup that is fully functional is very important. On camera Rohan seems fine with us tinkering around, but when it comes time for his company to pay out warranty costs they will no doubt speak out against rooting.

when i had my g-tablet i was able to do that with titanium. as long as titanium is granted super user permissions it should restore all our apps fine. ideally this is what i'd like to do.
Isn't it possible to just pull the apps from your phone by using ADB?
I know I where able to do this a long time ago, but I forgot how to do it, and I can't seem to find any info on it anymore.
As that would be easier than trying to get titanium backup working.
Yes it is
but Titanium Backup and Drop box are both free so why not use them? Then you can continue to use them to make BUps on your Adam.
Yea, i know there both free, but to use dropbox whit Titaniumbackup, you need the paid version, so it's not completely free
Correct
I don't use dropbox through Titanium. I use both for different purposes. It would be to slow to use dropbox to transfere all of those files.
I use dropbox to transfer the occasional single file and do any printing chores.
I use Titanium to backup my programs. Then I use the Nike network* to move the mass files between devices.
* The Nike network or tennis shoe network is an old computer term for using physical media to transfer files between computers. You use your feet to move from one to the other. I first did this on my IBM 5110 in 1979. The 5110 was an early IBM portable computer that had 8" floppy drives and a whopping 64k of memory. Portable in those days meant any computer smaller than a room.
You have to have root privileges to use titanium backup

Ah, thats the rub! I was going to use this method too until someone reminded me of this.
Awaiting my Adam. I'm hoping My backupPro does the trick for me.
It won't get flash or other pre-installed programs (HTC Incredible) so I'm sure hoping someone is going to put up a thread for "must have" apk's like Flash so we can get to them easily.

Looks like Rothnic has an update.zip package with root access and Google Apps added.
All Adams are shipped with root privilege access. Just need market and SuperUser app installed, access given to TB, install Busybox from TB, and then it should be good to go.
If someone wants to help speed up this process join ##adamroot on freenode.net and help the devs. They are waiting for someone with an Adam to spend about an hour or less working through the kinks.
Or you can send me ur Adam and I'll help get things working
If you have not rooted your adam you can extract and install your titanium backup files with astro. Fyi

A complete newbie question as the Adam will be the first android device I'll own -
Can you back up your paid apps with dropbox / titanium or are they activated by username online?
Yes you can back them up, but you have to be rooted first.

Once you've paid for and app you can always download it again for free from the market (as long as you use the same google account).
If you definitely want to back up the apk, than you use titanium backup or also ES File. Not sure whether you actually need root to do that though.

does anyone know how to get visual voicemail working sense 3.5? And im not talking about restoring a working version from TB, what i need is for it to provision i think thats the key for it to actually work. a third party app is ok but i prefer sprint's.
im looking for the same solutions but cant find the answer yeat
It's posted all over the place, ffs.
Go to the Blazing Roms thread (Fearmede, etc) click on attachments and look for VVM that I attached.
Put it on your SD Card.
Nandroid back to an earlier Sense ROM or the Stock Rooted ROM if you were savvy enough to make one. Use Titanium Backup to back up VVM.
Go back to your current setup. Use Root Explorer, et al to install the VVM app. Use titanium Backup to restore data only.
Open VVM, compose a message to yourself.

Best way to fix it
This way might take some time but it is worth it.
Restore or Flash a ROM that has VVM working
Make sure that it also has sprint zone too (That helps too if you ever have a billing issue)
The install titanium back up App that is free on the market (I am guessing your phone is rooted)
Open up titanium back up
Look through the apps that you should back up - ( I think it is Voicemail and Sprint Zone)
Back up with data.
The reflash the rom that you want
Install titanium back up
Remove all sprint zone and Voicemail Data that you have (under titanium Backup)
Install with data Sprint zone and Voicemaill that you backed up
********Don't go uninstall crazy some apps you need in your phone and will cause damage to it*************

ok gonna try that in a min. but heres what i did
copy the vvm.apk to sys/app and installed it, used tb to restore the data, hadnt provision yet. so i sent a message to [email protected] and it finally provision, lol, still doesnt work. so i went to settings>call> under voicemail "clear voicemail notification" would that be the problem? also when i use youmail all of my latest voicemail are loaded, cant figure out why third party apps work but not stock
I never seen it say it was provisioning it when I used it on Fusion, but it worked. I got all my VM's.
The only time I ever actually get a message that it's provisioned is on MIUI

i know its not my phone cuz it work on shooter and rainyday rom, cant figure it out
I sold a friend of mine my Galaxy SPH-D710. It's rooted and has Calkulins last ROM. The phone works great except for one thing. It WILL not connect to the Play Store for him. I have tried everything except a complete wipe because he has all his stuff on it. I think it's because he associated it to his Google account (naturally) but it had/has some of my paid apps (like Titanium Backup Pro and Busybox pro and such) that he doesn't use. When you hit the Google Play icon it says, "you must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one now?". When you say yes it FCs. I'm trying to avoid a complete wipe and restore becasue it might restore the same problem and I'd hate for his data to be lost if something goes wrong.
Anyone have an idea?
You will probably have to force un install the play store then re install it. I am not sure where to find the APK to do that. I'd that doesn't work factory restore will need to be done.

If I'm not mistaken I believe you can download the latest playstore apk from Google. Just type it in and look for the latest apk..

Try going into app manager and google play then force stop, uninstall updates, and clear data. It should work again after that.

have you tried just reflashing the rom? Some apps wont work correctly if you dont flash it correctly.
Make sure you flash the gapps correctly as well. Try reflashing it and let me know how it goes.
Check to make sure you're not signed in on your computer or another device. If that doesn't help, uninstall updates for each, clear data and reboot.
Open the store and 're enter your information, then after it loads, back out of it and wait several minutes. It should reupdate, and you can try again.

I've had this problem, which has even followed me from my SGH-T999 to a SGH-T999L (stock, neither rooted) when I had to change phones. Specifically Google Now and Google Voice wouldn't sync when on wifi, and this was true not only at home (ie not router-related). All other internet services, including Gmail and Play would work on wifi, and both worked fine on cellular.
Even before I switched phones I did a factory reset and it worked for a little while and then came back. And same after I switched phones. My hunch is that there was some corrupted setting that kept getting restored from backup. Recently I tried clearing data for Google Services Framework and a few other google apps, and again that worked for a day or two, then reverted.
So tonight, based in part on DocHoliday77s advice, I tried the following steps (after Helium backup, to be on the safe side):
1. Logged out of Chrome on my desktop
2. Removed the google account from the phone (settings->accounts->google->sync)
3. Killed all apps running (Advanced Task Killer), for what it's worth
4. Cleared data from every google app (or at least all the ones that looked like google services) one by one in the application manager (all apps)
5. Rebooted phone
So far so good--everything restored easily (much easier than a factory reset), and as with prior resets it's working fine on wifi. But I've been burned before so my enthusiasm is tempered...
Update 5/22/2014:
It's been working continuously since then. There were a few apps which lost their bearings--must have been linked to Google Services, but resetting was minor. Google Voice will still occasionally lose the ability to connect on wifi, but now a simple reboot fixes the problem.
I hope this helps someone in the same situation!
:fingers-crossed:
