[Q] Stock Alarm Clock - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've recently flashed my phone to use the SRF 1.2. I love this ROM, however it removed the stock alarm clock app. I really enjoyed using the stock alarm clock especially for its 'smart alarm' among various other option it came with. I know that there are plenty of great alarm apps out there but does anyone know how to get the original stock alarm back on the SRF 1.2 ROM?
Thanks in advance!

I love the stock alarm! the easy wake feature that brings peaceful music before the real alarm is tities

Thanks for your quick response! I've downloaded the app directly onto my phone and tried installing but it gave me an 'Application not installed' error. Do you have it's not letting me install this app?
I've also tried copy-paste into the system/app folder using the Root Explorer. However, since the folder is a read-only folder I was unable to paste it in. Is this what you meant by "push it to system/app"?
Also, do you know if this app comes with the original ringtones?

When you use root explorer, you need to switch permissions to read-write (rw). Then push to system/apps. There is a little grey botton on the top in root explorer, select it so it says rw.

Oh good info.
Do we/is there a thread that has a list of the stock apps for quick/easy downloading?

Thank you for the instructions. I was able to install it on my SRF 1.2 ROM. However, for some reason, it didn't have the Smart Alarm feature and was also missing most of the original alarm sounds. Does anyone have any idea on how to get these and to retrieve the Smart Alarm feature?

(Not a direct solution to your problem...) I know I was a bit heartbroken over losing the stock clock but I found a recommendation somewhere to try Alarm Clock Plus. I like it, so while you figure this out, you might give it a shot. It has some good and similar features. Not perfect but a good alarm clock app.

You aren't by any chance talking about the eclair clock, are you? The one on froyo is different than the one from eclair. What were you on before you flashed syndicate 1.2?

[Q] Changing dock on unrooted 2.2

Hi, I am looking to change the dock on my Evo. It isn't rooted and I was just wondering if that was possible? If so can somebody please point me in the right direction? I tried to search, but didn't really know what to search. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
To be honest I don't even know if I am calling it by the right name. I want to change the thing at the bottom of the screen where you click to go to the phone, your apps and add something to your home screen. I would like to pit icons there instead of the stock bar.

set it was the default launcher. It works well.

See this thread, allows you to restore the stock 2.2 Android launcher. Otherwise LauncherPRO is excellent as well (its what I use).
I installed LauncherPro and the big clock is gone is there anyway to get my clock back and use the bottom icons from LauncherPro?
You need to install a widget for the clock. Either hold down on your home screen and select the widget, or download one from the market.

Is there a way to put the stock big clock on there that shows the weather?

Do a search for "fancy widget". It's pretty much just like the HTC clock.
I recommend beautiful widgets because you can change the font/look of it to pretty much whatever you want, as long as you don't mind dropping a few bucks on it.

[Q] How do I disable/remove the toggle widgets in the 3.5 SkyRaider rom?

I installed SkyRaider 3.5, everything is great. But I'd like to not have the toggle widgets on the notification pull-down.
Is there an easy way to do this? I tried making /system/skyraider/widget.user/custom.txt blank, but that didn't work.
It is in the SERVICES JAR. PM the developer. He can point you in the right direction.

Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764787&highlight=Sexy+Rosie
Then go down to where it says "Power Widget Toggles *NEW*"
It tells you there.
That doesn't tell us how to remove it altogether.
nevermind when I rebooted they came back weird
Just removing the text will not remove the notification widgets. The text file allows you to modify what is in the power bar. Learning it blank gives you a default.

Yea, i noticed this. Hopefully ihtfp69 will chime in here.
The answer will be found in the service.jar file. You may be able to remove the file that represents the Power Bar. I am not sure if you need to remove all the files or if you could just remove the one representing the power bar. The other option would be to pull the services.jar out of the prior version of SR and swap them out...
Have you PM'd ihtfp69 to see if he can produce a NO POWER MOD zip? The other person that may be able to help out is Bezerker.

I have, got repsonse today. He says it will be in 4.0.
He suggests putting a single | character in the custom.txt file, it might disable it.

Temp Root Question

I am considering the DInc2, but really enjoy having root on my OG Droid (which is failing me). I can wait for permanent root, but was curious if temp root allows me to make the local.prop tweaks for home screen redraws, push ringtones into system, etc.? I realize I will not be able to use wifi tether for root or flash any ROMs yet, but those tweaks would be nice.
you can delete bloat, so I assume with root explorer u should be able to push sounds, i dont see why not. can anyone confirm this?
also, what is a home screen re-draw?
Moved to proper forum.
not sure about the homescreen redraw because i have no idea what that is. but you don't need root to push ringtones into the system. just make a folder in your media>audio folder on your sd card. if ringtones, throw the files into the ringtones folder and if notifs then make a folder called notifications and throw them in there.

A home screen redraw happens when the launcher and all its Widgets are consumjng too much memory. Coming from and OG Droid, this happened often with the limited memory on the Droid. When you return to your home screen a lag occurs as the phone redraws all the Widgets and icons on the screen instead of the screen just appearing.

I have my tones on the SD now, but I do not like the lag that a 32gb card can have.

[Q] Which apk is the stock TW alarm clock?

I used to be able to access it through my Beautiful Widgets, but now nothing happens when I press the time. I believe it's due to me not having the stock alarm clock installed. Does anyone know what the name of it is? I'm wanting to say it may be integrated into the TWcalendar apk, but I could be wrong.

[Q] Way to modify permissions

I just got the S4, an upgrade to my old LG G2X. Just had a question.
On my G2X, I had it stock rooted and somehow was able to modify permissions for each app from the settings. I would click on the app and scroll down to the bottom and see all the permissions for the app. I could tap each permission individually and it put a white line through the permission disabling it. I don't remember if it was app or kernel or something that aloud me to that and trying find if someone knows what I am talking about and if it would work for the S4?

You can do that using root explorer or rom toolbox. Change apps permissions to different settings if that's what you mean.
