I have to much memory spent on useless MMS messages. Any ideas on how to delete all mms messages? Or I least how to view only mms messages so I can select and delete??
that matter on what rom your using. gonna need more info
But there can't be that many MMS messages so i would just do it one by one really. like i said idk what rom your using but i would hold on a message and maybe setting will come up to delete that one message.

Well basically I am getting charged for some of my text messages and I do not know why.
If I send a long text message will it send as a MMS???
THanks ... this is with T-Mobile
You need to speak to tmobile.
The manual says that an SMS will automatically be converted to an MMS if "very long", but not how long. Can you visually tell when this happens?

Just like when you add a word tot he dictionary it will appear eith "Converting to MMS ..." once it is too long.
if memory serves, it's somewhere between 3 and 5 SMS messages in length where it changes to an MMS.
I always though 5 was the max for text messages on any phone. Then it breaks it down into seperate messages.

Happened to me last week, NOT COOL!
is there a way around this ?
like a config option or something like that ?
is this specific to the desire or android ?
This is standard behaviour for all Android devices, and it applies to the stock messaging app. The reason for this, is that if you are going to send more than three SMSes, it will in most cases be cheaper to send an MMS. This does not of course apply when you have unlimited texts or other discounts.
Until this gets fixed, download a replacement from the market. Try chompSMS or Handcent SMS. The automatic conversion is optional in these.
ah ok
hope this gets fixed fast
using an alternative sms program such as handcent sms or chomp sms gives you the option to break up long text messages into seperate texts instead of converting to mms
Ok, so been on Cyanogen 6.1 for a day now and I am getting duplicate MMS's. The texts are fine, but every pic and slideshow I have downloaded has ended up duplicated.
Am I missing something? Haven't found this issue through google yet.
Wondering now if duplicates from other people is same issue as other one which is I cannot send. Could they both be something to do with corrupt telephony.db?
So you can't send, or getting duplicate mms messages?

When sending an mms, do you have your 3G on?
Yes, 3G is always on. I never turn that off.
Update though, I just loaded Handcent to see what would happen. Even Handcent cannot do MMS's...this seems to be a phone issue then? (Unless there are some requirements to sending mms on handcent I didn't complete.)
Ok, I have adb'd into the folder where telephony.db lives and deleted it. Now Handcent will send mms but regular text program will not send.
Ok, mms is is working now but my shotgun approach doesn't leave me confident in what actually fixed it.
I tried one solution I found online...delete the telephony.db file. This did nothing for sms/mms. In same folder I found a mmssms.db file and when I renamed that it deleted all my txt history. BUt that didn't solve the issue either.
The next thing I was going to attempt was to clear messaging cache from the manage applications. Instead I clicked on Clear Data.
That is when the messaging app changed. The background had been white, but I never set that, now it is black and all mms and sms since that point have worked fine.
Since I still had an old copy of my mmssms.db I just restored that and I had all my previous txts back.
Not sure if this will help anyone in future...but there is my post effort debrief. :^)
how do i setup my mms
i would like to have cyanogen 7 but i have a cricket flashed evo 4g and dont know how to get my mms to work.....does anyone know?
The thread title is the error I'm getting. This, from what I can tell, is not the wifi issue.
I'm stock, rooted and I use GoSMS.
I have noticed recently that when I try to send a picture message that is the large clear resolution that is shows up pending for a long time and eventually wont send, probably due to it's large size. To resolve this, I have started doing the smallest resolution, and thus smallest size when I know I'm going to be sending it to someone.
This works to make sure it get sent, if it decides it can. I get the "Can't send message right now. Too many many unsent multimedia messages" To try and fix it I close GoSMS and all other apps, but usually it takes a reboot to get it to go through. There shouldn't be any messages trying to send, as they will usually give an error saying the message couldn't be sent. I don't like to delete messages so I have one thread with 8000+ messages, mix of sms and mms, so going through and deleting all of the sent messages isn't really an option.
I cannot replicate the problem right now to test and see if using the stock messaging app would fix the problem.
Is there some folder or something that stores the pending outgoing messages that I could look at and see the "unsent multimedia messages" are that cause this error?
Is there some other underlying issue, some kind of buffer, relationship between received mms and sending, or anything else like this?
Any help would be appreciated.
I instaled RC8.1 few days ago and I for me everything works perfect but i notice that when typing long SMS messages instead of merging them in 2/3/.../6 sms messages it makes it a MMS after 160 characters. I looked in settings for a solution but i couldn't find it, is there any way to change that or I will have to separate messages manualy?
Also some times it just keep "sending" message.
with this release my phone sometimes don't receive all the messages......someone else have this problem?
I think I received all messages, but some of them wouldn't send it just say sending and leave it that way...
As far as I remember, since first release of CM10.1 long messages are converted to MMS by default, and there's no option to change it to multiple SMS
See in mms settings. Or just install other sms app (slide messaging shoud do the trick) and change there. This will fix the problem.
Sent via blue dots...
Thanks, I will check that app later
Thx, i'll try that
Btw any news about not sending some messages?
Converted my HTC M8 to GPe 5.0 last year and recently updated it to 6.0, and since then every picture MMS I receive is compressed to the point that when you open it, its too pixelated to view. As well I cannot send MMS anymore.
I've tried Google Messenger and Hangouts for MMS with no success in sending. I've verified my APN settings with my carrier but still not luck. Not much comes up when I search the web for this problem, but other possible solutions include disabling any ad block (which didn't work) and uninstalling Pushbullet (which I don't have).
Anyone else experience this?
Does the problem apply to pictures only?
Can you send a text MMS? like a group text
Have you checked the permissions for the native messaging app?
Have you checked your maximum message size setting?
Have you tried deleting your APN and restoring or recreating it? sometimes looks can be deceiving

No, I cannot send any MMS both group and photos.
Messenger has full permissions for everything it's requested.
Maximum size limit is 300kb, which is far below my carrier limit (and I cannot change it).
Yes, I've deleted and manually created my APN with various settings at least 3 times just to make sure.
I am having a similar issue with the latest GPE MM RUU.
Seems like group messages from iPhones in particular get stuck and need to be "manually downloaded" after they fail. Sending SMS messages hang on the first attempt as well. I have to wait for it to fail and then try again.
Well found an odd fix that appears to have worked for me.
Went into SETTINGS > APPS > Settings Icon on the right top > Default APPS the default BROWSER APP field was empty. I set it to Chrome, rebooted the phone and within seconds the MMS messages were sending and receiving..
