[Q] Nexus S 4g Port?? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know what happened with this? tmillar07 was going to release an possible alpha and I have not seen anything. The thread on acssyndicate.net is closed also.
Just curious, I really really liked the idea.

A 24hr ETA was told by Tmillar; when the 24hrs were up no rom. People got pissed at the broken promise, started raving, one thing led to another the thread got closed.

no port in portugal.

I saw the thread got closed, I was just hoping that the development didn't.

I don't think development stopped, he's probably working on it as we speak and I recall him saying in the thread he was looking for help.

Check the development section, and search for the HDMI development thread. Should be on the first or second page.

That's a thread based on it. It almost seems that the original was hidden [I suppose]. But last I heard its in the Alpha stage, being tested, and a release is on the way. Hope that helps any.
I was going to say something, but I'll just stfu before I get beat down with a ban stick.

It may be because he already had his alpha testers, and easier to close it [temporarily] to prevent the thread from getting spammed up, with "HOW'S IT GOING?!" and "WHEN CAN WE EXPECT IT?" Easier to re-open it after he first round of testing, post bugs, and resume normal life. Again, just my thoughts.
I'm not sure what happened with the OP of that thread but I know toast and Shinzul are working on it for CM7 right now.
Orrebmas has been in contact with his testers and progress is good. He has asked to not release details about development at this time. He did direct me to this post http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/35955-evo-hdmi-out-mirroring.html My guess is that will be the place he will announce it being available for use.

No. lol. shhhh.... this thread will be erased... dont ask questions.
Only for sense for now. I have two cables but aosp is my home

Very disappointed how that went down. Actually made me register on another forums so I could participate and get information on a feature I have been patiently waiting for almost an entire ****ing year...
I'm wondering if shinzul is working with him. Hope there is no problems. I read on the other forum hes thread got locked because beta went to donaters which is against xda rules. Hopefully there's an understanding

Really? I just signed on to xda to thank the original developer for his hard work and now we are doing the hush hush thing?

What happened to aokp?

So i havent been on xda in like a week, i get on hoping to see a aokp update, and the thread is no where to be found. Did my mind dream up an entire rom or did i miss something?
Edit: Nvm, never occured to me to check the general thread, since i never really find anything worthwhile there
kbizzle asked for the thread to be closed. I have heard however that we will see someone else take over AOKP soon enough. Keep your eyes peeled.

your prayers have been answered today. New aokp thread with build 39 is up. check it out.

Man, its nothing to get worked up over everybody. Even if he was in the wrong (which I disagree) its not like hes posting in the dev section or spamming every section.
Considering we haven't had a leak for almost 2 weeks now theres a good chance a lot of people aren't checking everyday anymore. (The usual routes for getting the ota leaks are still not working anyway). Dont know how theirs was released yet.
I for one would not have known until someone mentioned it.
I appreciate the updates immunityx has been giving us personally.

Jb roms

Totally new to this phone. Cracked my tbolt last week, got a used 32gig nexus. Ive unlocked, rooted, runnin liquid jb with imo newest kernel. I went with those first because im familiar with both devs. My question, and i love flashing, what are your fav rom/kernel combos for this phone. I found stock jb to be great, but didbt want to pay extra for tethering. I use it, but not often enough for $30 a month. Thanks in advance dudes n dudettes.

Threads like this have been beaten to death (atleast 1 per day). Go to q&a section, click the "search this forum" tab and enter "best rom".
*edit* they should really stop letting people create threads from the xda app...
good day.

Just a warning to you, threads like this are no longer allowed on xda. My suggestion is do a little reading through the roms your interested in and then do a little bit of trial and error until you find what your looking for.
Thread reported
Uh, i did not ask for "best rom" i asked what peoples favorites are. If you cant read, refrain from commenting. Geez, do people read before they type? Ive been a member a very longtime, never ceases to amaze me how people want to be the first to turn a thread into a flame off. All im trying to do is get ideas. Tbolt has almost no roms compared to here. These threads are active, im trying to keep up. If you dont have a fav combo, dont comment. If it needs to go to qna, thats fine by me.

Officer manning, ive got over 2 years on you and 1000 posts, i know the rules. I dont believe i broke a single rule, but then again, i read my post 3 times before i submitted making sure i specifically did not ask for the best rom. I hope your report makes you feel good though.

With the amount of users and different versions of the device we do get overwhelmed with these types of questions.
Everyone will have different opinions about their favorite ROM, but if you wish to discuss the different features each one has please use one of the threads already created for that.
There is a sticky in Verizon's development section that is a good place to start.

From what I've been told we they are really close, but again they aren't going to put anything out that doesn't work fully so as for a real time frame, when everything works and they feel it's ready for mainstream consumption
Why don't you look in the dev forums. That's where it'll be posted

It's nice to know that you guys are hear to help. I posted this in the Q&A you know since it is a question. It seems that you have forgotten you were once new at this as well.
Ill try not to ask as many questions. Once again I'm sorry.

questions aren't the problem we love to help and inform on anything we know. but asking for an eta when there are already tons of discussions on this and when there have already been multiple posts saying don't bug the devs, thats a problem

I'm not bugging the devs...I was asking the community in general? Its just I came from the Nexus S which had well over 100 roms to the Optimus which only has 2. So I have just been confused why there aren't a few more for this device which is much better than my nexus. Im not even asking for ETA's mainly just if anyone knew about more roms being made. I probably should have worded it more clearly.

jbrooks58. We don't mean to be harsh. You came from a nexus, a device that have open source to a device that is branded by LG running LG software. It takes time to develop for getting around minor hurtles may take weeks unlike on a nexus our dev community works hard and we now have a flashable JB zip. Things are in the works but there are a few things that still need fixed.

Thank you for explaining! I didn't realize one was more open than another. I thought all Androids were open. I still have much to learn. Thanks for clarification.

Hey man those listen to these morons it's not their fault that this is the only place in the world they're relevant.. Ask ur questions there will always be ppl that add to the problem and the clutter when one simple answer will finish the thread instead of being rude and keeping the thread at the top of the page by flooding it with off topic responses

I see both sides of this coin, since i kinda just went through the same thing. I understand that he was just asking a question, but on the other hand there are probably over 10 discussions with the answer he is looking for.
But on the other hand, you are newer than me even, so welcome to the community, try to read and search before asking questions, and try not to double post either, just edit your last post if no one has replied.

The name calling is uncalled for, especially when you're taking advantage of the work that these people are putting in. This community has enough negativity as it is, and we certainly don't need any more.
Egos aside we're all on the same team here. Either appreciate the work or give constructive advice/suggestions. Enough of the insulting.

Also, alot of the reason we only have 2 roms was because we were stuck on ICS. Not many people want to develop on an older OS, expecially when we knew there was an update right around the corner. So it was the waiting game. Now that JB has been released, and the source code has been dropped, this place will start lighting up. This is one of the best phones out right now, and it will start getting attention. So for now, research, read, contribute what you can, and enjoy the ride.
In all honesty none of those thread touch on how close we are to being AOSP, so his question is relevant. In every thread you get the same answer, either "we have already answered that question", "when it is fully ready to go", "were still testing things so it's going to be a few more weeks". I want to make it clear that I'm not complaining, And am very happy with what you guys are doing, but if we had a little better information about what is going on and what the problems are maybe people would stop posting so much.
If you want to know anything about ROM's/AOSP, go to the IRC. They constantly are talking about it on there.
