Hi,
When I try to boot my HTC Desire I get stuck on the HTC splash screen (the one before the screen with the animating 'quietly brilliant' text).
When I boot into recovery (with power button and volume down) I got an error saying

I got another SD card that was empty, reformatted it so it had a FAT32 partition and an ext4 partition and put that in the phone. Now I get the same problem, but the message reads

Whenever I select recovery in the menu and confirm it (with the power button) it shows the HTC screen again.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance,
GilJ
Silly me =[
I fixed the issue like this:
I downloaded "PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip" from **i cant post links, but its from the shipped-roms dot com website** , Dropped that onto the SD card and booted my cell. When asked if I wanted to update I said yes. A reboot fixed the system.
I guess this can get locked.

Glad you shared, it may help someone ;-)

I flashed Amon_Ra's recovery some time ago using the PC36img.zip, and ever since, I can't get out of Hboot, as it keeps looking for an image. Going into Fastboot, I'm getting the same message as some have reported before:

I get this message every time I try to do Fastboot, and it simply pops back into the menu from there.
I have tried:
1. Reformatting my SD card to FAT32 (using the original card), and
2. Flashing a stock RUU back and re-rooting from that.
Both of these solutions coming from threads others have found to solve the problem, but I'm still having the same issue.
I had updated Hboot from 2.02 to 2.10 (probably a poor decision I now know), and the RUU flash says that it is now back to 2.02, but I don't know if I've still got lingering issues from 2.10.
Basically, I can't get out of Hboot without going into recovery and going back to a nandroid backup. This problem always pops up after flashing Calk's Format All (as it formats boot, I'm assuming).
I have 004 hardware.
Any help someone could lend me would be greatly appreciated.
I've noticed this happening since the first time I recovered it from freezing between the Telco's splashscreen and LeeDroid's. (flashed factory RUU over USB, Unrevok3d with AmonRA since mine is PVT4, wiped, flashed Radio ROM and flashed LeeDroid)

Is this indicative of something that needs to be fixed?
(thread recycled since I fixed my earlier problem)
Yeah I'm pretty sure I flashed the wrong ruu. She just hangs on the splash screen when booting the phone and booting into recovery. When I try to flash the right ruu it just says plug in phone. The phone is s-off with revolutionary.
Just one more thing it does when I hold down the vol. down and the power to start hboot it comes up with this

So what i want know is there hope or should I just see how far I can skim it across a lake?
You can try to put a PB99IMG.zip on the root of you SD card and it should do the flash automatic.
Search here in XDA for a correct PB99IMG.zip (there are many but i have not much time now to look for a link).
I don't think you have bricked Desire. Normaly this way should work.

I believe there is hope since you can still go fastboot. I suggest that you delete that file on ur sd card that it tries to install though.
As far as what to do next, I can't give you a confident answer.
Ignore me, I'm a n00b.
steini81 you are a dead set champ
I had to get the rom.zip file from the right ruu and rename it pb99img.zip and put it on my sd card and it flash that way...
thanks for pointing me in the right direction
if you were S-OFF why didn't you just flash a new recovery?
I tried and it just stayed on wait for device
Hi, I used revolutionary to get s-off and unrevoked 3 to get root access on my Telstra HTC Desire and it was all working fine, so I installed rom manager on my phone and then selected Leedroid to update. As soon as it finished downloading and installing my phone now gets stuck on the splash screen and when I enter the hboot menu (vol + -) it says missing or wrong img for something called PB99 and if I try to use the Telstra rom update program from the HTC site it wont flash back to the stock rom it came with because the phone is not being picked up by my pc (running win7 64bit) when I type abd devices into cmd (running SDK Manager). The goldcard I made with g-parted doesnt have a proper backup either. I swapped from CWM to AD Recovery 2 and it picks the sd card up on my pc and I can install roms etc but it just keeps freezing on the the first telstra splash screen. Can anyone help me? PS - I am a noob but am getting some idea after stuffing around with it for 2 days.
This is the error I am getting before it freezes on the splash screen...

I tried moving one from Alpharev on to my sd card and when I try to install from sd it tells me 'can't find update script'...
can you post more info from fastboot? power+back button
do you download the PB99IMG_xxxx.zip file und rename it to PB99IMG.zip?
and copy the file to root directory??
Try with Bravo Downgrader from AlphaRev website.
I'm having an issue getting my phone to restore. I flashed a new ROM, but it wouldn't boot up. It just sat there on a black screen for about an hour, so I pulled the battery and tried to reboot it. Now it just sits on the boot animation forever and will not boot. So I do the power + volume down to get it into recovery and that isn't working either. It goes to the right looking menu, but then it flashes really quickly something that looks like the following:

I choose Recovery and it puts me in the CWM recovery options. No matter what i choose on that menu it just goes to a black screen with the CWM logo in the middle and won't do anything. I can't get it to boot into a ROM and I can't get it to recover my last backup and I can't flash anything new. Have I bricked the phone or is there something I'm not doing right?
Do the fastboot eraseāw command then re flash recovery from fastboot

It sounds like recovery is messed up, are you using trackball or power button to select?
Have you tried to fastboot flash a new recovery?

After following the rooting process in the wiki I had a similar problem...

I resolved this by deleting the PC10IMG.nbh image in the sdcard
w8 w8 w8 !!
Are you, by any chance , using the power button in CWM to use its features ?? ;
Cause as far as i know, at least in my Desire Z , Power button in CWM is for stand by - lock the phone,,,,,
Try using your track ball click to select the features/options in CWM !!
(+) the No image loading thing is normal in bootloader ..... it will show THAT error if you have deleted the PC10IMG from the root of your SD Card !!
PM me if the CWM features are working with the trackball ,, or if you want another solution !! (Chances are ill not follow this thread again )
