I have an EVO 4G Gingerbread 2.3.3 and got the new OTA 4.4.651.1
Okay, I didn't do my due diligence and research (not like me) before upgrading to Gingerbread, and like lots of others found out too late that it was going to hose my Netflix and Full HDMI .... now thenew OTA is supposed to address the issue, but still have no luck with finding a Netflix app, and HDMI is a no go either.
I know I cannot go back to Froyo or root yet, so has anyone gotten any info on how the new update is actually making a difference?
Yes I am a NOOB to XDA, and love the YouTube video, but I would really like some input on these issues.
Thanks in advance.
hope this helps
full HDMI will only work with android 2.2 until a.Dev either gets root for 4.24.651.1 and we can use a custom rom or if the guys at teamHDMwIN update the program to work for.gb which they probably aren't.as all new phones HDMI mirror stock.ie Motorola photon evo 3d and g2x. as for Netflix its working. go to Google search newest Netflix.apk click the xsah- link and download mod 2. it will keep saying must update if you click cancel it goes to.your queue and streams like it was on 2.2 there is no update in market yet for tonight tomorrow do what I said.you'll be on. im new myself to xda but this answer was in a few spots.
give me a thanks if I helped you

If it's already loaded on the Evo 4g they al got for free :-(, doesn't that mean its already ported to htc sense UI??? Shouldn't it be able to work on our desires as well???

I don't count on it ever working, but I put playon on mine and it works pretty much perfectly. You can install it on your computer then you are basically steaming but you have Netflix, Hulu CBS,tbs comedycentral, syfy and the list goes on.You can try it out for a couple of weeks for free and then if you want to keep it they are pretty cheap and have several ways to subscribe, from monthly, yearly and even a one time payment for a lifetime subsciption.Anyway I got tired of waiting and got it on sell and haven't looked back.It is more than you can imagine and you can use it on PS3.Xbox,Wii,and several blueray players.Pretty much anything that is DLNP capable .
Anyway didn't mean to ramble but hope this helps.
There is a netflix app available without the checks and already signed. Most have said they can get it running in a gingerbread rom. I haven't been able to get it working on the A7's rom however.

I know that they won't allow it to run on devices that are rooted, but I think if you search the forums you'll find a modded apk that should run.

Thanks,
I had installed the cracked version on my Evo4G and Evo3D, and it installed on the A7 but would never work.
I always ignored the "there is a newer version available" message until I read your post. Works like a charm now... Resolution seems like it sucks a little, but that may have just been the movie I tested with.
Just down loaded from Market. Install and logged in. It works great!!!

I updated to this version and it works well. I've noticed that the resolution starts out bad but rapidly improves. I am really happy with this tablet now. It pretty much does most things I want it to do. Only thing left for me to conquer is moving apps 2 external SD.
Thanks to everyone that has helped develop the mode!
Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that you can adjust the quality of your stream through netflix. Just head to your account page on netflix.com and towards the bottom is a link to adjust the quality.
I've be seaching for the Elocitymod 1.42a, but haven't been able to find it. Can anyone tell me where I can get it or send a link? Thanks

On my completly factory A7+ I got netflix working only through an account on amazon
Still can't find way for un modified A7+ to get HBO GO
more to point. I cant get netflix audio (or any audio) through hdmi on my ~5 yr old Insignia HD TV, is it possible adjusting stream quality will solve the no audio? I tried it on a new 55" Toshiba and audio/video work perfect (and wow, a 3' tall angry bird is cool)
This has been answerd in old threads as, "some tv's audio works, some don't"
Any new fixes?
Anyway to put screen to sleep while still streaming through hdmi?
I am using a galaxy s 4g and running one of the Gingerbread leaks. Unfortunatly, Samsung hasn't released an update for car/desk home that I can download. I can see that the Epic has the new one available. I am sure that it is due to the Epic getting the official GB now.
I am hoping that someone with this device could download the .APK's and upload them for us less fortunate Galaxy S users.
Thanks in advance!
Assuming you are talking about this app:

I tried downloading it twice, but market gave me an error during installation called "-8".

Yea, that is the desk home. Here is the link for the car home which is most important to me. My issue is that the old one that was built for froyo doesnt route the audio correctly through USB with Gingerbread.

My price for doing this is that you or anyone else that downloads this, simply presses the THANKS button.
i said thanks but i am looking for the latest version of the desk home app tried a few leaked versions but they are running old i think...
i just want to add that i am testing ics on sgs now. the version of desk home i tried (froyo cradle v1) crashed, i hope a newe one could run..
anyone who would share it?
I got a kindle fire for my mother. Wondering what the best course of action would be. Looking for a rom that i can install and not worry about updates, so as stable as possible. i was looking through and it seems like there is a netflix bug with the 3.0 roms? that is a bit of a deal breaker. can i get the play store and everything just with root?
can someone at elast tell me if there are any bugless roms? actually a couple bugs are fine, but i think no netflix kills it.
Have you a considered leaving it like it is? There's a lot to be said for the stock ROM for Moms and suchlike.

I agree, the stock rom is pretty hard to "F" up through normal usage.
Just my opinion, I had the same decision to make on my wife's, so I flashed the MoDaCo 6.3 and she didnt even know, except that you can tell by some downloded apps icon's resolution not showing great. But she is OK with that. Also, keep in mind that she doesn't watch movies on the Fire.
I have no problems on ics roms with Netflix. Once you mod the build.prop it will work. For her, I would go with modaco though. Everything works, and it feels like an Amazon device.

I'd say keep it stock too. If she has issues with it, then you can try a rooted rom then.
i just stayed with stock 6.3 and rooted and added the play store with go launcher...can't beat it...
i have no problem keeping it stock. i haven't looked into it too much. but mainly I just need to be able to side load apps, movies, music and books. I just assumed it wasn't possible with stock. the play store would be very nice too, but i'm almost positive that isn't possible stock. plus i'll be doing any tech support so i'd rather her have a nice ics rom that i know well.
i also just noticed aokp is officially supported, i didn't realize. I've got that on my phone and tablet. but there is no thread for the fire on rootzwiki, so i can't really tell what kind of bugs there are. anyone using aokp m5?
getting the play store on stock is possible cause i have it on mine, have you check xda for the aokp m5....you stay this is for your mother,i just leave it stock then cause the ics maybe a little confusing for her....ics is more advance in customization, don't get me wrong about ics...it's good, but there is always problems and it's not yet 100%...good luck in your journey...
Hi Folks
Pretty much a noob at all this roms and apk stuff, however when I got my HOX I was desperate to get Google Music on it. As I live outside the US I had to side load it, I think from an apk I got here.
My HOX hasnt been rooted or anything so still using the vanilla Android 4.0.3, and only recently thought about updating the music app (hadnt considered that the store wouldn't provide the updates automatically)
Music is at version 4.0.9.509.
I see lots of newer apks around for G Music, but most have indications that they are for JellyBean, but with no info on if this excludes ICS.
Can I update to recent versions while still in ICS?
If yes, should I upgrade incrementally, i.e. from one version to the next or can I just install the most recent immediately?
The site I have found for latest apk that has the most clarity is iapktop.com has anybody used this site before? is it recommended or have people had problems from it?
Thanks for any info, its much appreciated!
Seriously, nobody here can tell me this info?
Thought this would be real easy 1 minute answer for you guys running around with your mods and roms and whatnots.
I did try Googling etc for this info, but everyone assumes you already know such basic stuff
