Just use what I posted above, its the easiest method to root 2.2. All you need to do is restart to clear the temp root.

Unrevoked will install clockwork, then you can install amon RA. Lets not jump the gun you still need root lol.
the way your rooting right now is the way i rooted my phone! i think i ran into that exact same problem back then too....i think i pulled my battery and started over....i cant remember...its been like 7-8 months.
also...what you can do...is run the RUU for 2.2 to wipe your phone (also do a factory reset beforehand too and back up your sd card on your comp) and then start over.
or try a different way...try unrevoked or xHausx's method: [ROOT] ~~~ HTC EVO - Auto Root ~~~ v2.5 (4/25/11) - xda-developers
after you got your evo rooted....flash Amon_RA recovery ([Recovery] [09-Feb-2011] RA-supersonic-v2.3 - xda-developers)
hopefully this helps ya out!

it says step 4 wipe?
and step 5 install rom? what does that mean.. im already rooted with unrevoked 3
i was on 2.2 i downgraded to 2.1 then did the root...is there any clearer instructions? thanks !
Unrevoked isn't correct root look in the sticky topics to root correctly you need to boot into recovery to wipe when you do you select wipe the select dalvic catch and wipe data factory reset then select flash rom select cm then wait until its done then reboot you have installed cm I'll see if I can find I link for rooting

Yes you can should be fine unrevoked isn't full root i.e. root/nand unlock its just root you need nand unlocked so follow the tutorial from the beginning. Its like starting over no biggie the reason it said to use unrevoked because its a root method just not a full root method

Did you change kernals I heard there were gps problems with cm and kernals what cm are you running? Cm6 rc2 from 8_15 or the nightly? Also try putting the power control widget on you're screen and pushing the gps button on that that's been my fix in several roms some of them have it off by default

I just learned that the current iteration of BFS breaks GPS on many devices. BFS isn't part of CM, but if you're using one of the custom kernels with BFS and your GPS isn't working, thats the cause.

Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
do not use unrevoked it will permanently curropt your radio. unrevokied 3 is now out of date, thanks to htc's latest security update. use an alternative method if you happen to have a mac, i have a very nice 2 or 3 command root kit for you... testers wanted
So u cant use unrevoked 3? I do not have a mac i have a pc. I really want root mine. Im coming from the hero

I did not have any problems rooting my EVO using Unrevoked3. I followed the simple instructions and the process was painless. Before getting my EVO, I rooted my Droid Incredible using Unrevoked3. As for it being outdated as stated by someone else, I'm unaware of it. Check out the second link above and read for yourself. Happy Thanksgiving.

unrevoked does not work on any 3.30 evo software because of the new hboot security. it will not gain root, just corrupt the radio.

Ok, so I have a samsung captivate, and with the captivate i do not have to root to flash recovery and then a custom ROM.
But, my friend has an EVO and wants a ROM. Only problem is he's running 2.2, which as I've read hasn't been rooted for evo yet.
So, can I bypass needing root by simply flashing recovery and flashing custom ROM?
Regards
Smith

Unrevoked does NOT touch your wimax keys.
Thanks everyone, I had read that using RUU to unroot might prevent you being able to root again thats why I asked.

The method of unrooting is all dependent on the method you used to root with in the first place. Unrevoked (pre 2.3) vs. Alpharev (post 2.3). what is your hboot and radio and recovery?
