EAP-TLS authentication protocol - Bada Software and Hacking General

Hi everyone.
It's almost 1 year since I bought my S8500.
I think it is a really good smartphone and I will try your Android port soon!
This said, I have one big problem and I don't know who I could talk about it but you: I am a student at Politecnico di Milano and my univeristy offers free wi-fi connection; this connection have these characteristics:
* WPA2 with password and certificate
* EAP-TLS Authentication
No problems with WPA2 and certificate (I successfully installed it on the phone), but, as you probably already know, bada 1.2 doesn't support EAP-TLS, while you can use EAP-TTLS.
This is the problem and the question: what can I do? I tried contacting many forums, but I never reached a solution.
I am not really good at programming, but if it is the way, I'll write an EAP-TLS "program" by myself.
If anybody has got any suggestion, I would really appreciate it!
Thank you and goodbye.

same problem, currently i haven't found a solution yet, needs to find where are stored those settings, then perhaps we could add eap-tls authentication settings in a custom firmware but probably are protected system file, anyway hoping will be added in bada 2...

I have found a link some time ago:
As I cannot post links, you should Google for: static.bada.com/contents/docs/resources_1.2.0/com.osp.apireference.help/namespaceOsp_1_1Net_1_1Wifi.html#c3dfe935675929c6ce0f2ceb7ee0bf1b
I am not sure if this is of any use.
Bye

No ideas?
No one?

Well what was to be said has been said, I see.
So if someone knows how to close this post, I think it can be closed now!
Thank you!

Any news?
So, it has been quite long since the beta release of bada 2.0 was made available and, as I could read on this forum, many people already installed it.
Can I ask you a favour?
Could you tell me if bada 2.0 is provided with EAP-TLS authentication protocol?
Thank you very much for ANY reply

It has option EAP-TLS to choose in WiFi menu while connecting, but i cant tell you if it is working because when i tried do it (KH3) on my university network phone every time resets.. so we must wait for final 2.0.
In my opinion, probability of EAP-TLS working implementation on final Bada 2.0 is very high.

Sometimes it is very hard to get an answer...
Me myself and I
For instance not use WiFi nor BT at the moment.
So no idea.
About bada 2.0...
Maybe we know more in 1 month... if Final version is available.
Best Regards

Good!
That's very good news!
Thank you everyone, I'm looking forward to get bada 2.0 as soon as possible!!

unfortunately Samsung "don't like" TLS authentication, both with my old S8000 and S8500 i've never succeeded in connecting to my university's wifi...

I'm in the same situation...I tryes BBConnect, but it makes the Trinity too slow...and furthermore I didn't get the appropriate account set up, in fact no way to sync with MS xchange...
It would be great having a fast way to "replicate" the account from my BB...and dismiss it 4ever!
Anyone else?
I tried BBConnect 4.0 without success, i missed to activate the option on sim card.

why won't it work?
BBConnect 4.0 should be available for download from the carriers.
Will your IT staff let you?

Have you confirmed with your internal technology straff that they will allow you to use a non-Blackberry device with the Blackberry service? I know there are now ways to use non-Blackberry devices with the Blackberry service (even if they don't work well), but your internal IT people will have to configure your account to do so.
I asked my IT people to do that for me and they completely refused. The reason they use Blackberry (instead of Microsoft exchange, etc.) is because with Blackberry, they have total control over how I use my Blackberry, so they can close any security holes and otherwise restrict my use of the device. For example, we can't use the SD card on our phones, can't use Messaging, and can only use the Blackberry browser for the Internet. While this sucks as a user, it lowers their cost to support since there is much less chance that I will install a rogue application or otherwise screw up my Blackberry and then expect them to help.
If they're willing to let you use it, I'd definitely say go for it, but be aware that at some point you're probably going to have tot tell them that they need to update their server information to start sending the mail to a new device ID. When you do this, they're probably going to ask why, which could open a whole can of worms...
Good luck!
Mike
I would like to use my P3600 i.o. the BB. In this case I could avoid having 2 devices...I asked my IT dept and, as you stated, they did not support it. Now, is there a way to use BB on my P3600 with no help rom the IT dept?
I have the P3600, the BB, and 2 TIM wih the same number (1 normal +1 twincard). Obviuously, I do not want to dismiss my P3600 and use only the BB!!! PLEASE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!
any other help ?
please....!!!
As far as I know, you can have BB connect working, by using the DOPOD WM5 ROM and BB Connect version 2.1.2.52
You should try, it will work.
BBConnect will work with WM6 on Trinity.
Search this forum for bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4_1_.0.0.90.exe this is the BBConnect install for Trinity WM6
Ensure that your SIM has been enabled for Blackberry before you install. The rest is easy.
Good Luck!

Softbank X01HT - Internet Access Connections post 6.1 ROM

Good day all,
Firstly I thank all of you who know their way around these devices and have helped me get my rather sucky Japanese Softbank phone to make sense, look better and work better. Excellent work.
Now I've come to the point here search results are not doing me any good with getting the 3G internet connection and MMS settings working. I've found many good guides on getting the MMS sorted and setting the access server however I think they are now outdated and the password, being now built into the JP default win v5 ROM is not the one listed on the guides I've been mining.
Therefore I ask for some assistance, if ye be so kind.
Has anyone here in JP got the Softbank internet connection sorted after going win v6.1?
THanks and best regards,
Todd Mackintosh
MMS is proving difficult. As you probably know there is a really super program called MMSLite, but it doesn't function under 6.1 for some strange reason. Here is a thread dedicated to *****ing about this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365760
Softbank settings in order to take advantage of the flat-rate Tsukaihoudai discount thing are still working. Here is the old thread detailing how to bring those about:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031
Any questions, just post in those two threads. They are pretty old, but there are still people watching them - or perhaps I am the only one...
Sorry for the late reply. I've been out of the country for some time and my HTC is now ready for an overhaul.
Will get on it.

Android - Wing Linux 0.4pre4 is out

Hi,
For those interested in the effort to port Android to the Excalibur, wing-linux android 0.4pre4 has been released with support for the Excalibur. Installation should be pretty easy (must install to the micro SD card).
For details and download: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki
This project is looking for more developers, so you're welcome to join.
Please Note: to reset your device after using android you'll have to take out the battery. As mentioned, the software does not install to the phone's ROM, so it's nice and safe no flashing!
Biggest issue is that sound doesn't work yet. GSM works if your SIM card has no pin. For information on setting up GPRS, please see the wing-linux forum.
Please test all you can, and report back either here, or even better at the wing-linux forum.
Cheers,
Update:
To fix the problem that the console is rotated the wrong way, after installing, go to the linux folder on the SD card and edit the "default.txt". In the CMDLINE variable, remove "fbcon=rotate:3".
For those of you that want a normal linux console, i.e. so Android doesnt start automatically, change the "4" on the end of this line to a "3" (this is the runlevel)
help
Can you hel me? I want to know if i can to install this so on my excalibur telcel (mexico) and how can i install it?
thanks

Hey great news......
Good going ..........
Hats off to all the geniuses on this project,
and a special thanks to UCCELLINO to get it on our beloved DASH
Hey Just one question ,
Is it the same cab for all the models ?
Tested
Tested!
And...
Success!
It works...
Since it is nowhere near finished ill mention only the cool things...
D-pad works and all of the other buttons too... (qwerty including)
Amazingly good integration for non touch screen phone... (I could almost imagine using it)
I would played bit more with it but to my biggest disappointment
THE SCREEN IS INTERLACED AND FLASHING(flickering) ALL THE TIME
Tested on MDA Mail
I almost forget: Thanks to all the involved geniuses...
I still can't believe it works, simply amazing
woohoo!!!!!!!
cant get it to start it fails and takes me to command prompt
Anyone has screenshot of this new Wing Linux?
Hi,
Thank you for doing this testing... the interlaced screen issue does not happen on my device... maybe there really are different models. I will check this out - it is probably a problem with screen timings. If you want to help, check out the Excalibur forum on the wing-linux forum and try another device profile.... Once I know what other device worked better for you, I can try and support it better within the Excalibur profile.
For other people: there is one main cab to install and then another smaller one to set it up for the Excalibur.
Once again, thank you to all for the help in testing! Next step is working audio and then we can really be on our way

What process did you go through exactly... this may be a bug can you give me any more info?
Just some points:
it must install to the micro SD, which needs atleast 250+ MB free available
you must install two cabs, the main one and then a little one for the Excalibur
in theory, if you do get to a command prompt, you can log in and use linux to start android.

Sorry, no screenshots as yet. But it runs Android Cupcake, and pretty fast too (for an old phone). Really, this project is going somewhere, and Android is very usable on the device with such a great keyboard.
Perhaps a very techy person could make a little video?
All you need is an micro SD card, may be 30minutes and being prepared to pull your battery when you're done...
If you're a linux programmer, that'd be cool too.. I desperately need info on how to reset the Excalibur in software
Cheers

[Q] XPKG6 with 850Mhz UMTS?

Hi all, is there a way to enable the 850Mhz UMTS in the XPKG6 firmware as i am an Australian using Telstra's network. Due to the fact that we get left in the dark fairly frequently in regards to all updates from Telstra (current for us is 1.0) and Samsung, i am currently using the Brazilian BVJJK1 firmware as it is the latest firmware (1.02) that supports the frequencies i need. I'm not the only one having this issue as bruno2k7 also has this problem (link to his thread below). If anyone could shed some light on if or how this can be achieved i'm sure that there would be a lot of extremely grateful people out there.
Jingles.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193692
Please have you installed other firmwares and try to set the network manually? Maybe setting the network manually (instead of the default Automatic) may solve this problem.
Go to Settings => Connectivity => Network => Network mode => (and select the appropriate network in GSM or UMTS mode).
NB: I am refering you to bada 1.2 and not the beta bada 2.0. If all goes well in bada 1.2, hopefully you will enjoy same when bada 2.0 is officially releashed.
Thanks for you time on this spacks. So far i have tried The latest Brazilian firmware (BVJJK1), XXJL2, DDKD1, LUHJH1, XPKG5 and XPKG6. I have tried every setting i can think of in regards to swapping around the amss.bin files, different combos of the Bootfiles as well as the amss.bin, CSC, FFS, etc. The only thing that i have found that works so far i.e. actually boots and gives me full 850 UMTS is the complete BVJJK1 although i will try the LUHJH1 later tonight after work (unless somebody can reply between now and then that it doesn't support 850mhz). Your help on this one is immensely appreciated guys as if i can get it to work then i can update all my friends Wave's as well as we are all on Telstra (850mhz).
Regards Jingles.
Stupid idea...
Did you ever tried mix AMSS (amss.bin) from your country/operator with others Firmware?
AMSS is callprocessor part...
No idea if also apps_compressed is mandatory...
Best Regards

yeah tried that one too lol but thanks All i need is to somehow be able to use the current amss.bin file that i'm using from the Brazilian BVJJK1 firmware in one of the latest 2.0.1 firmwares. When i try it the phone just boot loops. Have been trolling through every page i can find on the topic but have had no luck finding anybody who has gotten this to work yet, although last night i did find a comment on whirlpool that said that my carrier (Telstra) might be looking at updating the waves in Australia to Bada 2.0, fingers crossed i guess.....
Hey all sorry for not getting around to posting a fix for this issue sooner. A few weeks ago i solved the issue i was having by taking a sledge hammer to my fone and smashing the absolute **** out of it.
I then went and bought an Android based handset. Problem solved.
Now before any of you want to go saying "Why not do that in the first place" the reason is this. I bought my handset in one of the first batch released in Australia with the promise from Samsung that Bada was going to be the next big thing or at least be a formidable opponent to iOS and Android. Instead what we were given was a POS that should have been called Beta not Bada. The Original wave offered an amazing hardware set only to be let down by a **** OS that we can't even port Android to. I haven't bothered looking in the topic on how the port for the wave is coming because i can guarantee that it's no better from the last time i looked (no offence to the guys working on this as i imagine you guys are going hell for leather trying to get this sorted. Many kudos guys.)
So good luck guys, i'll be laughing at the rest of you still trying to use your clunky BADA phones while i continue to tweak and update my latest update of Gingerbread.
Actually you were just unlucky
I think all the people who bought the 850mhz capable waves were unlucky...
Too bad you werent able to try even just bada 1.2 and i agree samsung shouldve done something about it.

S8500XPKH1 aviable.

http://www.samfirmware.com/
Here is the new firmware KH1 for S8500, does someone try it ?
Have you seen better things ?
For me : Apps works (But fruit ninja and slice it Reset the phone when install... but it works after.)
Not so lag
New sounds since kg6
No allshare bug in mp3
Fb works but a bit long
Samsung apps bug sometimes (the app close it self and the wave lag if we forgot to turn on the wifi...)
...
I am currently downloading, I'll test later in the evening here (Greece).
I wonder why SamFirmware doesn't provide us with a changelog, along with the F/W.

Not relevant, since SamFirmware has ROM testers that check the FWs before the uploading process. They always test and check the features and aspects of the ROMs.
If you remember,we had info & changelogs for the first two BADA 2.0.1 ROMs. (XPKG5 & XPKG6), but no info for the 3rd (XPKG7), just "a more stable release".
anyways..

no, I didn't. I had many hopes that the CSC "hacking" method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179033 ) could give me the Greek lang, but since my testing came up with errors and the infamous "endless loop boot cycle", I reasoned that it's still too early for an OXC csc file to be found on the net.
I frequently check b_adaspain for an OXC csc for bada 2.0, but I really think it's still too early.
As with everything here in Greece, I'm sure that the Greek translation of Bada 2.0 will be at the bottom of the OS translators' list.

Yes, more samsungapps programs are working, for example GPS programs or apps using camera (eg. Quick Qr Reader)
can we see spoof apps workin on bada 2
yes spoofing apps will be a new feature of bada 2.0, so everyone can steal apps, thats logical...
Short tested...
It seems they closed other stupid Security hole.
Maybe this FIX is also since newer JL2 Firmware... like KF3 and so on...
Will test.

Please understand, that bada Developer nor Samsung are "extreme" happy about Spoofing...
No bada Developer = 0 Apps
I hope you understand what I want to say...
To your Question...
It seems at this time all known holes to install commercial Apps are NOT working anymore in leaked 2.0 FW...
This means not, that bada 2.0 is now unbreakable...
Its NOT my intention to find new hole... From me also 0 support for "Spoofing".
Thanx for reading.
Maybe better now back to real topic.
Best Regards
That FW is really good
bada 2.0 is getting its own polish now
The comparability issues seems to be solved
Now no way to back to 1.2
I just hope that the missing features come back

what about 3g/signal strength for countries outside of europe? what diffrent options do you have in network mode. (eg GSM 900/1800 etc.)
thanks
changes since XPKG7 that I spotted:
- you can now disable the double tap activation feature for the Voice Recognition
- I feel the phone a bit more responsive than before
- at last, KIES via WiFi synchronization works flawlessly! (KIES v.2.0.2.11071_128) however, when you go to SamsungApps, KIES will pop a dialog warning you that app installation is not able over WiFi or Bluetooth. still... who cares! you can do it with the USB cable, or via the classic way (on Wave directly).
- screen rotation a bit faster!
- some apps that now work:
Fruit Ninja
BadaBox (DropBox client)
Smart Office (1.5.2 latest)
Bambuser
Quick QR Reader
