I just recently bought a 3500mAh extended battery from amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042TY68C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A1N1UQZS4G6GV9). I just got done fully charging it, i let it charge fully over night, just unplugged it and boom 10 minutes unplugged with me not even touching it just letting it sit on my desk we are down to 95%. I know you are suppost to cycle these batteries and stuff before u can actually see the fully life of it and i plan to do that. My question is i downloaded battery monitor widget and on the main screen its calling the battery a techno-Li-ion 1425/1500mAh battery. I know this isnt right ive cleared battery stats probably 10 times total now, through recovery and through the battery monitor widget app. Im hopping i didnt get ripped off and it just takes a few discharges for the phone to recognize the new battery? Any help would be appreciated.
I plan on letting the battery get to 15-20% and then charge it all the way up again and do these a few times, as well as clear the battery stats. This is what i read to do with new batteries? Please correct me if im wrong..
When using an extended battery you are not going to get a full charge unless you condition it or you could use a SBC kernel.
how much will u get out of it then without the sbc?
I bought this exact same battery. I used it at the time on my Evo unrooted. The first one that came to me (2 weeks late) wouldn't even power up. The second one they sent me I ran for about 3 weeks and put the stock battery back in. I was about to get 9 to 12 hours on my stock battery and with this extended I was getting the same. 2 weeks into using it the battery life got crappier everyday. To me it wasn't worth the added bulk for the same or less life. Since then I now run CM7 on the Tiamat sbc kernel with my stock battery that is almost a year old and get close to 18-20 hours out of an almost year old stock battery.
I use the SBC kernel, battery monitor widget, and the 3500mah battery. The thing lasts for days. Literally. When the green light comes on at "100%", that means NOTHING.
I ran it stone cold dead yesterday on purpose. Plugged it in at 10:00pm using my 800mah AC charger.
10:00pm: Plugged in, begins charging at ~700mah (max for my charger)
12:45am: Phone indicates 100% @ 4018mV but keeps charging at 700mah
2:00am: Charge rate ramping down @ 4197Mv
2:45am: Charge rate 100mah
3:00am: Charge rate 50mah
4:00am: Charge rate 15mah
4:30am: Charge rate 10mah which it remains at when fully charged (4198mV)
Stone cold dead to green light was only about 3 hours. BUT, stone cold dead to actually fully charged was really double that.
Obviously if the battery isn't dea, it will take conciderably less time. If you charge it with a PC, limiting the total current to 500mah, it will take conciderably longer.
So battery monitor widget calling it a 1500mAh battery doesn't mean anything? Right?

I have the exact same battery and I'm wondering is the percent shown total BS? Mine is showing 87% with 4000mV left after charging overnight with an SBC kernal.

Yea I'm at 8hr40min as of right now @ 17% battery. I've had my display backlight turned down and have been at work the whole day doin nothing with my phone but light texting and posting in this thread. With my stock battery I get around 12 hours before the phone almost dies with regular/mild use.I'm starting to think this battery was a rip off.. hopefully once I charge it back up it will last longer but idk... If anyone has any tips or tricks to make this battery last longer please help me out.

FYI, after 12hrs, i'm only at 70%. That is with very poor signal at work all day, and playing pandora on the way in.

The newest version allows you to override that. Previously, the phone was telling it the capacity was 1500mah because that what the normal battery is supposed to be. The new version let me change it to 3500. So the % estimation should be accurate now. It is claiming I have 70% remaining or 2450mah. And 70% of 3500 is 2450. Now, where it came up with 2450, I have no idea.
The first time after ur charged the battery when u got it did u let it completely die or plug it in when it hit 10% or so?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My first full charge on the same battery I got the exact same behavior. I was on the Stock Kernal that came with CM7.
Second charge, after changing to the Tiamat SBC, my battery is screaming... 6+ hours of heavy usage (video, web, lots and lots of text and 30mins of calling) and I am still over 50%. By now, I would have had to charge the regular battery...
Very pleased with this thing...
well im about ready to unplug mine for the day and see how it goes, i fully charged it with the phone off with a wall charger. And have been cycling it witht he phone off by unplugging it when the light turns green, waiting for the light to turn off, then plugging it back in until the light turns from orange to green again. Ive been doing this for the last hour or so because somone in another thread about this battery said it help him out alot, i did unplug it when i first woke up and it dropped from 100 to 92 within 3 minutes so thats when i tried this cycling, i did unplug it in the middle after doing a dozen or more of these cycles and it staid at 100 for quiet a while then dropped to 99 after about 5-6 minutes of being unplugged and me browsing the web and market this being a huge improvement so id have to say the cycling of the battery does help idk how or why but whatever im not complaining ill post back later tonight once i see how the battery acts.
So far I've had terrible luck with this battery can't get more time than stock. Charging it with an SBC kernal and it doesn't help, was avoiding spending 60 bucks on a battery but I think Ive no other choice.

im at 2 hours with it right now, down to 70% i used it pretty heavily about 30min ago to reflash cm7, savagedzen sbc kernal, download all my apps, setup launcher pro plus, and re confiugre everything. It dropped rather quickly from 100 to where its at now so i guess we will see, BMW is estimating 10hr40min remaining battery life right now which would put it at about where my stock battery would die at around 12-13 hours, so we will see :-\
*edit*
BMW now saying 12hr10min at 70% battery? weirddd...
*edit*
BMW now saying 16hr23min at 65% battery, ive been using it moderately, used 4G for a second and WiFi for a few minutes as well...
Here's why the drop...the Evo along with other phones use bump charging to charge the battery meaning when the light is green you have anywhere between
90 and 100 percent at 89 percent down to zero you should not see such a dramatic drop...its a Evo thing the large drop

go into bmw, go to settings, monitoring preferences, second from the bottom battery capacity, just change that value from 1500 to 3500, took me a while to find it as well.
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if this is nomal. When charging my phone it normlly charges and the percentage moves up in 1% increments. But, when I get to 92%-95%, it jumps to 100% within a minute or so. Is this normal? I am losing 5% of my battery capacity?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in right away. Is it rooted? Maybe wipe your battle stats. That's where I'd start.

I believe its purposely like that. Most phones does this so that your battery doesn't charge fully as that kills the battery life, therefore usually it only charges to 95 - 98% but will show 100%.
I've been experiencing huge battery drops (from 10% up to 20%) after I reboot my phone. Is this a KitKat issue or is it my battery?
In the morning from 99% (after checking a few messages in the morning), I rebooted and I dropped 11% to 88%.
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one. :good:
I didnt found it on reboots, but i have this problem when i enter recovery. 20 minutes in recovery - i dont hace 20% of battery.

Hmmm that's strange.
I've noticed it usually drops more when I leave my headphones in.
full loaded ACE 2.
reboot cost u 5%
first 10 % gone in a few minutes for heavy users and in a few hours when deepsleep !!
what i wanna say.
the first 10 % gone in a few.
after that normal drain.
I often get this, although not as bad. I usually lose 2-5% on a reboot, sometimes up to 10%. The other week I charged it to 100% when it was off, turned it on and had 92%.
so is this actually a problem or is it normal for everyone?. Mine looses 5-8% in the first couple of minutes after I unplug the charger..

ok then, thanks...I just thought that this didn;t happen when I was on GB, but it doesn;t matter anyway..
If I reboot once, I will lose between 5 - 10% battery. However, if I reboot straight after the first reboot, I will lose between 0 - 2% battery. I've never really understood this.

Battery Charging Issue
Is this normal?
When I charge my battery whether it be from mains or USB computer it charges ok, but as soon as it gets to 100% it still says charging for a little time and doesn't report the unplug charger message right away.
With the Jellybean 4.1.2 system I don't get the alert tone when the battery reaches FULL, therefore I have a feeling that when it still says charging even though it's showing 100% that it's actually decreasing power at that point, any help please?
I have tried other batteries, and one in particular goes from 90% right up to 100% and seems to miss that last 10 percent, so I don't use that one now.
I have the most current firmware installed.
Buy a new one

when it says 100%, you still have to wait for a few minutes before it displays the green "full" icon in the upper left corner and asks you to disconnect the charger.
However, the first 5-8% always drains REALLY fast and not proportionally to the rest of the battery drain...
I think It may have been my battery giving me the huge drops. I don't seem to have this issue any more after buying a new one.

what about the initial drain? does the first 10% still drop fast or has this changed too with the new battery?
I just wish that JellyBean 4.1.2 would give an alert sound when the battery has reached it's full limit like Gingerbread used to do.
Who would be the best place to ask them to do this on their next update?
But I think that it does..a very short one indeed, but it does, along with the screen lighting up briefly..

I left my 8.4 charged with the wall charger over night, in the morning I found it's only 94% full, this happened multiple times, and I also tried another wall charger it still happened. The battery chart shows it stopped at 94% (some times 95%) and never went up. Does anybody has the same problem? Is there anything wrong with the battery? BTW, the battery life is not good for me, screen on for only 5-6 hrs on about 30% brightness.

Yes that's exactly the same as mine. I contacted Samsung support and they suggested to do a factory reset to see if it's a problem about software, otherwise I'll need to file a service request.

Let it run down to 10% then recharge. do this a couple cycles. You could also try a battery calibration app that wipes the stats and starts fresh.
Solved my issue a while back.
A restart used to fix my issue but now the tab will say it's 100% charged and then at some point drop 10 or even 40% randomly.
Something is definitely wrong with the battery on this thing.
it's not the battery, but the reporting statistics used that is bugging out.

I found the problem has become worse and worse, sometimes it just stopped at 30~40%, then I said "f*** it", opened the back cover, pulled the battery out and put it back, reboot. Left it charged during the night. The next morning I found it charged to 100% !! Will post back if it really solved the issue after some more cycles.

Hi. I dont know if anyone is still on this post but i have this device and ive had this problem for the last year. It would get so bad with all the discharges that my battery died. I bought another battery and replaced it. I still got -300ma when connected to a 1A chaarger. So i replaced the flexi usb port membrane in hopes that would do it but i only got to 100mA. I bought a 2.4A charger and the tab doesnt even recognize the charger is in. Cant really turn it for service because I rooted it so my warranty is void. Any commentary and opinion would be greatly appreciated.:good:

Custom rom has nothing to do with it. I am running the stock version, and my battery won't charge up more than 64% right now. It seems the problem starts with 96/94% but gets progressively worse. Sometimes it will fix it self for a short time when I replug, but right now even that doesn't work for me.
I checked last night, and I believe the kernel just thinks the battery is nearing it's 100% state. This was a screenshot I took that shows that the battery isn't charging at full power. The closer I got to 64%, the slower the charge went:

Have you tried just using the tablet when it was "fully" charged to 64%? I see three possibilities and I would be curious to know was the case:
1) Your battery is only charging to 64% and when you start using it, it will decrease at a normal rate and you'll get 1/3 less time out of the charge.
2) Your battery is showing 64% for all charges >= 64%. So, it could be at 100% charged and will stay at 64% until you've used up 36% of your battery.
3) It is scaling wrong so that 64% == 100% and the battery percentage will decrease as you use the tablet, but it will decrease 1/3 slower than it used to (aka the time from 100% to 0% when you first bought it would be the same as your time now from 64% to 0%).
Any idea which of those three is actually happening?

Definitely the first one. Right now I am at about 35% and have 2.5-3 hours screen time since the 64% (can't check for a definitive screentime as the indicator doesn't reset unless you charge to 100%). So that would translate to the about 7.5-8 hours I get when I do have a full charge.
I also checked once before when I had this issue by letting my battery completely discharge and then start up my tablet again and I had 1% left, so it was pretty much completely drained. I'll probably charge it again tonight and I expect I will have an even lower full battery percentage.

Also tried that already. Still only charges up to a lower percentage. Only thing I haven't tried is unplugging the entire battery.
It charged up to 100% for some reason last night. The only thing that is really weird that it charged 1% every five minutes from like 85-95% and then suddenly in the last 5 minutes it instantly charged from 95 to 100%. The whole battery thing is just really weird.
