Voicemail notification on Kingdon Virus ROM - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have the latest Virus Kingdom ROM (June 10th) and I am having a huge problem with the voicemail notification. Everytime I turn on my phone, I keep getting this notification that I have voicemail, even though I don't. I tried to clear voicemail notification, then clear voicemail data, but the notification came back within 10 minutes. Does someone know of a way to fix this?
Thanks

The issue is w 2.3.3. Sprint addressed it w the update that should be out today. Then the devs have to incorporate it.

Sprint voicemail not working & wont register.

Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me as I am completely stumped.
Three days ago I flashed an sense ROM and all was well until I noticed people saying you didn't get my voicemail? So pressed 1 and called my VM only to find I had 7 voicemail that I was never notified about. I didn't get a task bar notification, app notification and they didn't show in the VVM app.
I have done the following, battery pull, update prl, update profile, sent activation message to [email protected], says it there is a delay in setting up your voicemail and you message will be sent as soon as this step is complete. I have also tried restoring a nandroid when VVM was working and nothing works.
Im lost and it sux not knowing if I have a VM, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JP
identical situation here, did you ever find a solution? anyone else have this experience? if so, howdya fix it?
bump this...having the same issue.
uninstalled vvm and re-installed latest apk, app generated it's own activation message, but send failed, still no notifications, this sucks...
This was happening to me as well, until I remembered that I had set up a block with Sprint to block 9016 txt msgs from coming through. Check with Sprint customer service or logon to Sprint's site and check the My Devices & Media tab and see if you have any restrictions on the line.
Apparently, Sprint's VVM program needs those text messages to tell it when it's provisioned, when it has messages to download, and when to get rid of the icon at the top.
Nah, this isn't the aosp text issue, it's different, but thanks for the input.
So I took my phone to sprint today, and after an hour and a half working w/ 3 different tech depts, a couple supposed vvm resets (or refreshes), and a full reset of the phone and still no fix, they decide to give me a new phone. Set up the new one (003 w/ 3.29 otb) and no dice, 3 hours, a new phone, and still have the same problem I walked in with. I've uninstalled and re-installed latest apk as well as an older one. What seems to be the problem is the "activation message" is not sending. Sprint says it's a known issue and there will be a software fix soon - my experience w/ Sprint is 6 mo. is "soon" for an update or fix. Anybody know a fix for this?

holyrolla's right check to make sure you don't have it blocked. if you added it before it wouldn't block it. but now for some reason it blocks it. I had the same problem as the op took me a week trying to figure it out. then I remembered I blocked 9016 when I had cm6. unblocked it and within a few hours my voicemail activation was able to be sent.
also compose a message in the vvm app and send it to someone in your contacts, this should get the server talking with your phone if your activation message still won't send

This worked! I blocked and unblocked 9016 text in August on Heroc. Four days before Thanksgiving on Evo for 2.5 weeks w/ vvm working fine...and all of a sudden no vvm. After I replied to this post earlier, I decided to check it out anyway and there it was. Unblocked 9016 and vvm works fine.
Thank you Holyrolla!

[Q] CM7 - Phone Calls don't show or ring?

Hello,
I am running CM7 RC2 on my Evo. I was recently informed by my girlfriend that my phone has her blocked and always rolls her into voicemail. Upon further inspection and testing, I found that my phone actually rolls EVERYONE into voicemail.
I can make calls and receive texts just fine. No issues there. I do not have google voice installed on my phone currently (thought that might have been the issue), but I did before. I have google voice setup to transcribe my voicemails, and whenever someone does leave me message, Google still sends me the voicemail in a text message.
I have Dialer One as my main phone application. The stock CM7 Phone app is also still installed.
Calls do not show up nor light my screen nor play my ring tone at all when someone is calling me. INTERESTING SIDE NOTE: Dialer One does seem to record the calls in my call log (not sure about the Stock Phone App)...
Any ideas? Is this some sort of Phone/Dialer One incompatibility issue?? I know that it used to work, and honestly im not sure how long the functionality has been broken (i rarely receive calls anyways..)
Have you tried re-flashing the rom with the latest gapps?
maybe not "re" flashing the rom with the latest gapps, but when CM7 RC2 was released, I did download the latest gapps and flash that and that was only about a week or so ago.
(was having issues getting the phone to boot without it)
I suppose ill try it again right now, but if im not mistaken, the problem persisted before RC2
Well i haven't heard of this exact problem, but I do know some people had dialer wake lock issues.
i feel stupid now. All i needed to do was reinstall CM7 with gapps and then do the Titanium "Restore Missing Apps + Data" Instead of "Restore Missing Apps + System Data"... Thats all it was
Thanks!!

Voicemail notification on Boost EVO

Does anyone know what ROM's the stock voicemail notification works in? I've removed the Sprint bloatware using SystemApp remove including the vtt-sprint apk which is the Sprint visual voicemail system app and rebooted my phone but the stock voicemail notification isn't working on the de-odexed stock 4.24.651.1 ROM. I know other people said it works on the 4.22 stock odexed ROM and VirusROM Kingdom but I didn't know if there was some fix for other ROM's after removing the visual voicemail apk.
Although what I did notice was that once I received a voicemail the "Clear Voicemail Notification" option in call settings would appear like it knew I had voicemail and if I clear it and leave another voicemail it would reappear as it should so it seems like it may be something that could be easily resolved.
I already know some of you are going to say to install the voicemail notification app from market and I have before but it's a very annoying app and I'd rather not have to use it.
Nah, that's a side effect of having it on Boost but I did noticed when I upgraded to GB I get the voicemail notification but not on Froyo.
Can I ask what GB ROM you are/were using that it worked in? I'm desperate! Lol.
Im running an older version which is Caulkins GB(Spelling). I installed this several weeks ago and it starting showing everytime I got a voicemail whereas every Froyo rom I've had wouldn't show so I'd have to just call my voicemail randomly and see if I had any messages. But like I said, it's not being updated now so I couldn't tell you of an up-to-date ROM that will work.
Went ahead and flashed VirusROM Kingdom B1.3 and the stock voicemail notifications are working now with Boost mobile on my Evo thanks to no Sprint bloatware so I'm happy.
Got sick of the VR ROM because it was missing things like Swype so I flashed the lastest Calkulin ROM and my voicemail notifications work in it too! w00t. Just thought I'd update this in case someone else was having the same problem and was trying to find a good ROM that everything works in with Boost.
Which Calkulin Rom? I have the same issue running MikG and have been working on a fix by trying to swap the VVM app from Kingdom but nothing has worked.
I tried Calkulin EVIO w/ 4.24 stock OTA update and voicemail notify still no go....besides kingdom rev if anyone knows any other roms or a method for voicemail to work let me know. I swapped just about every version of VVM, installed as both user app and system app, I've closed and opened processes and services just to see how the voicemail notification is controlled and I'm still at square one.

Constant Google Voice voicemail notifications

I've been using Google Voice for over a year now, and YouMail before that on my Palm Pre 2, so I haven't used Verizon's voicemail in a long time.
My issue is, every time that I get a text, I also get new voicemail notifications for voicemail that I have already listened to. Sometimes I will get "10 unread voicemail" notifications, most of the time it's one or two unread VM's, it is very annoying.
I've reinstalled the app, cleared data, and I've marked all VM's in Google Voice unread and then read - nothing works
Any other ideas?
I think there is a setting you can change so it does/doesnt notify you via sms/email when you get a vm.
You need to change this on a computer, not the app.

Yes that option does exist, but I am not getting text/email alerts of voicemail. I'm constantly getting voicemail notifications, which I want, just not the same ones over and over
Am I the only one with issues?

I have the same issue on my Nexus 4, 4.2.2. It is very annoying and the fact that this obvious bug has not been dealt with does make me wonder if Google Voice is going the way of Google Reader.... No devs. Maybe Babble will solve it... The only alternative I have found is turning off the integration and sending a text for the voicemail to the phone. Pretty kludgy.
Ugh, hoping for complete Babble overhaul as well. The entire app is a mess really

Oh okay, your first post threw me off because it says you got a text every time.

I agree with this. My problems were different than yours. I didn't get notifications on a regular basis. Then I'd get 10 notifications for messages I never received. Sometimes a phone reboot would send messages to me, but not always. My gmail account had the notifications but they weren't pushed to the app.
I got tired of it, and went back to sprint VM. I wish sprint visual voicemail was an option on this phone. - Note, I am NOT rooted, and use this for business and cannot root (company policy).
I just found this thread when I went searching for solutions to this same issue. Did anyone figure out a solution or a workaround?
I'm also experiencing the same issue.
Me too. Two different phones now. 2013 moto X and droid turbo 64 gig. A lot of times for me it does not seem to be triggered by the reception of a text message. It will just happen. It also seems like it's just related to a few messages in my voicemail. This morning, I got a notification from a voicemail from August 5th that I listen to that day and have been notified maybe 3 or 4 times since that it existed. I'm about ready for the kludgy workaround mentioned earlier to turn off notifications on my phone and turn on text message notifications for it. Also hoping that this post will spark some new interest in fixing this problem or even better remind someone to post a solution that they found.
google voice app settings
I have had the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S3 ever since I started using a Google Voice number. I get my google voice voicemails in Hangouts, so there should be no reason for me to receive a voicemail notification for them. I was just looking through the Sync And Notications section of the Settings inside the Google Voice app, and I found that I can uncheck the voicemail notications. Hopefully this will not affect my receiving notifications for my regular phone number (the one attached to the phone), or receiving hangouts messages with the Google Voice number voicemails.

AOKP 4.2.2 & PagePlus -- no voicemail notification

I'm running AOKP 4.2.2 on PagePlus -- I'm not getting new voicemail notification. I get it when I reboot the phone, but if I have to do that every time, that's gonna suck. Is this a known issue? Otherwise, the ROM is really just perfect.

I can't possibly be the only person who's affected by this...how are you coping with the voicemail notification issue? Right now, I have the phone scheduled to reboot each morning, but it's a pretty bad workaround. If there's no solution for this, I'll have to go back to Gingerbread -- and I really don't want to do that...
Atm I don't think there is a fix. An easier workaround for me is to just Force Close and clear data on the phone app. This will make the notification appear if you have a voicemail and disappear if you don't.
