I'm using Anonymous Rom v7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117368). It's the first Epic rom I've used without FLAC support, and I'm wondering if there is some easy way to re-add or re-enable FLAC support.

Does Gingerbread have native support for FLAC playback?
Currently OpenDesire seem to support certain FLACs and players like Andless and Meridian support all FLACs.
But its best if Android itself has native FLAC support.
Hi guys, just to confirm whether GB / CM7 support 24 bits flac format? I have an album in 24 bits flac, can't be played in stock music player of CM7.2.1.8 + aNa kernel. I have to download and play with Meridian player!
Gingerbread does not have native support for FLAC playback. some custom roms do have.
as mentioned before some apps support flac playback. i can recommand poweramp music player. works fine ;-)
+1 for power amp

Hi,
When I tried to play a FLAC audio file, I'm really surprised and disappointed. How could HTC doesn't add FLAC support to its devices. Anyway, I'm looking for FLAC support, I found PowerAMP application. It plays well and I pleased when I tried its equalizer etc. settings. I'm planning to buy its full version. But really, is next update (2.3.3), add FLAC support (since there is no update to my country I can't check it)?
Like my title says, is there stock support for .FLAC files in any custom ROMS. Even if there is support, can I use them as Ringtones/notifications.
Of course, this question is related to Motorola Defy.
I haven't tried yet to play .flac on Defy so I can't point you a ROM or app to use, but I'm just wondering why would you like to use flac format for ringtones? It's not like it will sound different (better quality) than regular mp3's/ogg's through Defy's speaker.
Just Convert your .flac Ringtone to mp3! For exmple with this converter!
cm7 supports .flac!!!
sorry for my bad english

Is anyone else having any issues with flac playback? I thought it was natively supported on the Note 2, but I'm getting "the player does not support this type of audio file" error whenever I try to use the stock player on my phone (not rooted). I've also downloaded several other players that purport to support flac playback and they give me the same error. I know AT&T apparently removed flac playback from their version of the Note 2, did T-Mobile do so as well?

I think it depends on the kilohertz (KillaHurtz lol, ironic). I have an extensive FLAC collection, and all play well on the T-889.
I don't think it will play anything above 48khz.
**Edit
-Confirmed it is a khz limitation. I have plenty of FLACs at 44-48khz (I tried a Bassnectar album @ 44khz) which played fine. However, a copy of Nirvana - Bleach @ 96khz will give the same error you detailed on the stock player. Tried both thru poweramp and experienced no errors. Hope this info helps !
So what happened from any of the custom stock ROMs including the rooted stock ROM to this ROM?
I'm asking because when I first got this phone I didn't root or ROM it and it had hardware decoding for my full length mkv movies. And they played just fine in the native video player. No shipping or slide show and no out of sync audio. When I first rooted and keep a rooted stock ROM on it. Everything was still fine. I tired fre3 ROM and it was fine. Jellybomb was also fine. But they didn't have working tethering always crashed. So I moved to this ROM. And now I no longer have working hardware decoding for mkv.
Why is that? What is the difference between this custom ROM than a rooted stock ROM? Is there a way to add it back in so that it can be played natively?
Thanks in advance

Liquid smooth is AOSP and all the other roms you mentioned are Touchwiz (based off of stock).
Yes I understand that. However that really has no bearing on what I'm asking. I guess what I'm asking, if I can make it clearer. Is why was mkv removed from the native video player. The native play that comes with android not TW not SENSE but android. It has direct access to h/w decoding for all formats it supports.

This way you don't need a third party player to play these formats. This way it can be played natively with the android player that comes with every version of android regardless of the OEM and their silly UI.
That's all I was asking. If a developer of Liquidsmooth could answer or let me know they're looking into it. That would be great.

If you want an answer from a developer, then you should ask in the developer thread for LiquidSmooth.
