Can I flash new roms to a metro pcs setup - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've looked and looked but couldn't find an answer.
So my sister has a evo 4g that has been unlocked/flashed to work with metro pcs and she whats her phone to look and feel different.
She saw that my sgs4g is running a different rom than the original and was wondering if her evo 4g can be like/similiar to my rom?
can a evo 4g metro pcs setup be able to flash different roms without losing the metro pcs setup?

Just make sure you Nandroid back up and use APN BackUP from the market to back up your current APN settings.......once you do that, then flash away!
If anything gets messed up, just restore both of those things and you should be good!

I agree, I did the same thing on Boost mobile and I didn't lose anything. Just don't flash PRLs or any radios and you should be alright dude!!!

Thank you so much for your replies! I'm going to try it out will update in the morning. =D

Evo 4g verizon

Get guys soon I will be getting an evo 4g and will be activating it on verizon now my question is are all the roms flashable without screwing up my prl code

How are you going to activate the EVO 4G on Verizon? As for flashing roms, they *should* have no effect on the PRL.

Won't happen. The DOJ, and FCC would have a very tough time approving it. Much less getting it past Congress. Too close to an election year. Plus if that were to happen then only thing you'll notice is possibly better reception, and a different looking invoice. Why do you think Chrysler still exists?

Oh. I see. I was thinking of something other than hacking the preferred roaming list. Thanks for the update. Take care.

To answer your question, no. Flashing a different ROM won't effect your PRL.
However, it will effect your APN settings for sure. There may be other settings that would be effected as well. Google around for threads about people using Evos on PagePlus. Since it is a Verizon MVNO any of the things that would affect an Evo on PagePlus would effect an Evo on Verizon. *228 may fix some of those issues automatically with Verizon where it wouldn't with PagePlus.
Wondering how you're getting Verizon to accept your Evo in their system, how you're flashing the data settings, and why you're not getting a Thunderbolt instead since it is basically a spiced-up Evo.
The deal fell through does anyone want to trade ur evolution for my nook color

Cricket is a no contract carrier. They're not that large, and they're one of those low price cell phone companies. Unlimited errthing for lyk $60. Literally. I had them at one time, but I NEEDED the coverage.
Cricket has multiple radio frequencies apparently because Sprint phones work on their network, and I know Tmo phones work on their network as well.
Process of flashing a phone? Think you should look that one up.
As for the question...
Try and put Miui on your phone, BUT FIRST!!
Make some type of nandroid back up!!
If you can use Miui and still have your service, then that answers your question. If things don't work anymore, try and get it reflashed. If things still don't work, then you'd have to go back to Stock using your Nandroid back up.
Just a suggestion to try.
I'm not sure but im thinking yeah why wouldn't it work I mean you can probably install it then manually input mms info maybe if you Google it maybe some one might have data working aswell. Good luck i tried its very nice on the epic touch 4g.
Flashed miui everything worked but data it was worth a shot thanks guys

Why did you choose Cricket and not Boost if you were going to go the prepaid route. Boost seems the easy to go since it is literally the same technology and network.

I seem to get better coverage with cricket

[Q] Will I bricking my phone

I want to install the official UVDLJA T-Mobile Rom on my Galaxy S3 and then install Frosty Jb. I have the T999v of Videotron one. Will my phone gonna be bricked or not? And my network gonna work also?
Thank you

You're doomed bro. Turn back immediately.
Should be fine as long as you dont change your modem. I suggest you use mobile odin and unselect the modem. I did this with my t999v wind mobile and its fine.
I asked the same question with similar responses. But could those that had success maybe give a bit more detail on how they managed to odin the TMO stock? It passes the md5 but then fails when flashing, I have flashed numerous times in odin with no problem. Maybe an obvious requirement I am not aware of (stock recovery stock download or some such thing)
Thanks for the answer. I have another question. Before I turn to Frosty, my mobile network was only 3G and H+ but now with frosty, its only the 4G icon. So with frosty im on real 4g or its only a "fake" icon?

T-Mobile has no real 4g. Some roms are coded to just show E and 4g for 3g, H, and H+, while other roms break it down more

[Q] Flashing SPH-L900 from Sprint to MetroPCS?

Hello all. I'm currently attempting to flash my SPH-L900 (Samsung Note 2) from Sprint to MetroPCS. I've been looking 'round the net for information on doing this and I'm kinda spinning my wheels. I'm getting info that the MEID need to be changed to ESN, I need to obtain the SPC (and the MSL would be nice to have as well), Does anyone have any links to a good tutorial or information they could share on this? I've gotten quite a bit of information already, but I want to be sure I don't brick this phone, and I want to keep full functionality (4G data, text, ect.). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
@fhaq While this is not exactly for metropcs it will cover the basics. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35753067 I used it as a guide to flash my sprint note 2 to cricket. You just have to use metro's info in place of the other.

Thanks!
That info was right on point. Now I have a solid base knowledge to work off of. Thanks jlmancuso!
4G speeds?
Anyone know if I'll keep the 4GLTE on the Metro network? I think that it would now that they do 4GLTE.
Doubt it. Most providers use different frequencies for LTE. If they are the same the next issue is our LTE/gsm card is integrated into the board. Not completely sure but think only sprint companies can use the LTE (virgin, ting, etc..).

Well looks like I wont be flashing to Metro then. I didn't even think about different frequencies for LTE.
If the ESPN's are good then you could use one of sprints sister companies. I use cricket and 3g is not bad get between 800k and 1.5 mb. Yes a long way from 4g but if you have WiFi you won't notice the lack of 4g most times.
