Despite using AntTek app to freeze Samsung Media Hub it still shows up in my app drawer and occasionally runs. How can I get rid of it completely? Everything else froze properly.

Have you tried sdx app remover. I know there are other ways, but to me this is the easiest, and you can restore very easy.

Doesn't seem to make any difference. There's still a service running, sometimes automatically and if I tap a leftover shortcut the thing runs like it's still installed. Media Hub, you useless bastich.

You could just freeze it... because it really doesn't do any harm anyway. It is just a widget really. Unless you are using it, it basically isn't even there.
I just saw this app using titanium backup. It can remove it.

If you're rooted you can use Titanium Backup to delete pretty much any apk on your phone. I personally recommend the Pro version because you have the ability to freeze apps too. That way you can freeze an app for a day or so to make sure your device runs okay without it and then uninstall it after that with no worries of bricking your phone. As for live wallpapers, those you can delete regardless, as far as I know, none of them are tied to anything important on your phone, i remove them pretty much with the install of every new rom.
Thanks.......

You can just uninstall the live-wallpapers, I meant that using the freeze function on TiBackup was good for when you are wanting to delete an actual app but aren't sure if it's gonna mess up your phone, that way you can freeze it to make sure your phone still works fine and then delete it later. Just make sure it's a live wallpaper you are deleting.

Transparent missing Genie /news/weather widget

Here is a transparent version of the missing genie widget .. ie the news/weather that is on the stock ics
.
works in at&T but should work in all versions.
Need to be rooted..
copy to /system/app with adb or root explorer.
Not installed
On my Tmobile S3 i downloaded and attempted to install but the installer gave said "application not installed" and gave me no input as to why.
I have install from unknown sources checked in security settings so idk why it doesn't work.

You need to root your device and push the apk to /system/app. (you don't just sideload the apk, as it seems you tried to do).
Sorry
Wow, i feel like an idiot. I should have made sure to reread the entire post. I didn't realize it needed to be a system app.
Copied it to system/app and it works perfectly. Sorry about that.
Is there any way to load genie with out being rooted???
I really really miss this app...

[Q] debloating cm10

is there a way to debloat cm10 instead of uninstalling each app one by one
thanks
:good::good:
Titanium backup pro and batch uninstall
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Can u save that batch for every time use
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
U just select what u want to delete in the check boxes and then click start and it uninstalls them takes about 30secs tto check em off and a few mins tto run if its alot of apps. I usually debloat one at a time in tibu tho so I can backup the few I may want later before deleting, or sometimes ill just backup all the system apps in batch then do a batch uninstall

there isn't much bloat on cm10. what are removing besides apollo.
Live wallpapers
Mms
Emails
Talk
Talkback
And the list goes on

Without talk playstore won't work, removing stock MMS will break picture messaging even with a 3rd party app. Other stuff can be removed but those 2 in your list will break some functionality of the device

Another Option....
Lmao u guys crack me up . I remove some stuff from aosp/cm based roms that I don't use but mostly just stuff that actively runs in the background like tvout or other things that like to autostart. I only do it cuz if i don't use it I don't see a point in wasting ram/CPU and battery on it just chilling in the background for no good reason. But that list is mostly stuff alot of ppl use, or is required for full functionality
Sent from my SPH-L710
You can delete them from the zip with 7zip or a comparable program before installing, but like everyone is saying, there's not much benefit

Wonder when they changed it whenever I removed talk back in the day it would always break my Google accounts. Google must have done some changes in one of the more recent updates to talk which allows the accounts and sync to work without it.

On my evo everytime I would remove it I would get Google account sign in errors and the market would force close. I bet they changed it sometime around when market became play store, or maybe HTC set it up as a dependency in the framework. I don't remember if I ever tried removing it on CM but tried a few times on sense roms only to have to restore a namdroid >_<

Also System Tuner. Titanium is great but back on the evo lte I had a few things that were part of Sense that Titanium couldn't remove but System Tuner Pro did. Then again Titanium is still improving all the time so who knows it might handle those things now.
It wasn't a permission thing it was like a compatibility thing I think. In the list of apps there was a couple that had a different color and you couldn't click on them or do anything to them. They were related to htc sense social integration, some kind of background service or db for friend flow (widget)/ facebook / twitter. System tuner pro plucked 'em right out just like any other app.

Does System Tuner Pro let you remove the nanny software that is integrated into the stock-ish TWiz ROMs? There's some "parental" spyware that really should be bizzaned, that you cannot remove through TiBackup.

That's "smart device manager" yes you can remove it, but I'm pretty sure titanium can handle that one ok too. I know system tuner does since I always delete that too.
