Hi all!
I am looking for a way to get a text based notification for emails.
I am using Missedit! for SMS and missed calls, but I can't seem to get it to work for emails.
Is it me missing the right config?
If I choose to add a Gmail account to the notifications, I get a string like [email1][account1] something, but not something actually usable.
Any tips? or another app to use maybe?
Any help is appreciated!

I've seen similar posts on here but not found the answer to this :
Can you have different sound notifications for sms and exchange emails? I know you can have different ones for gmail and specific contacts can have specific ring tones etc, but i can't seem to get a different tone for my sms messages to my work exchange emails Hopefully i'm just being blind and one of you clever lot will point me in the right direction!!
Cheers in advance!
You can download sms pop-up, a neat little app that adds to the notification capability of the stock sms app.

Create a folder on your sd card called notifications put what sounds you want on it then go into sound settings pick what sound you want as an email notification then go into the sms application where you will be able to set a different sound for your sms
Cheers fella's. The SMS pop-up has cured the issue
I've been trying to figure two things :
1) I take a 5MP pic with my Desire and want to mail it, is it at all possible to resize the picture i mail in attachment ?
2) i'd love to have a different notification sound for my incoming mail than for regular notifications, is it possible ? i can customize my incoming sms messages notification by using Handcent SMS.
thanks
Yves
Don't know about the first one.
But the email notifications can be set directly in the email application (Menu-Settings). The same goes for SMS.
It took me a while to figure out that I have to change the notifications in directly in the applications.

Thanks Ferus,
in the menu section you can say whether you want to be notified but you cannot change the sound of the notification. I wasn't clear on that in my previous mail. I'd like to change the sound just like you can in WM6. a different sound for different events

In the Settings of Google Mail application I have the option to be notified and also select the ringtone.

Yes you're right; however for the Exchange mail or any other POP account you cannot define it.
I gather there is no possibility to assign a specific notification sound for an incoming mail. Perhaps anyone has heard of an application who can do it ?
Anyone has an answer for me concerning the resizing of pictures when mailing them ?
Is it possible to enable HTML when sending and replying to emails within the stock email client? I tried searching through settings but just don't see it. It seems like the stock setting is plain text. Any suggestions without using 3rd party apps? Thanks in advance
Anyone?

I guess this means no one has a solution?
I don't see why they wouldn't allow an option to send HTML or Rich Text emails? I hate responding to work emails in only plain text, changes the whole email chain to plain...
Do you guys do anything else to get around this issue?
I wonder why there is no GMail Notification on the Productivity Lockscreen? Why is there only a notification for the plain Mail Client, but not for GMail?
Am I just blind and can't find the option to activate it, or is it faulty, that means you other guys have GMail notification?
I appreciate any feedback
Probably deliberately missing as HTC use their own Email client
Blame Google, not HTC. Its been ages now but Google changed the Gmail app to improve security and one of the changes is that other apps are no longer able to query to the number of messages unread in Gmail.

I thought that was fixed as of Gmail 2.3.6, I believe.
Others apps are able to use that call function (SMS Unread, MissedIt!, etc)
Has anyone had any luck with this? I would love to have my Gtalk and Gmail notifications on the lock screen when I have new messages...

Only workaround I can think of, off the top of my head would be to install a Lockscreen replacement (WidgetLocker for example) and use an app such as SMS Unread Count OR Missed It! to get those quick counts in there.
I don't know of any app that can give you a quick preview of your unread emails (subject, etc) that's not to say that it doesn't exist; I'm just not aware of one.
can't you just add google mail as one of the accounts within the native app? open the native app and go to menu/new account. you can choose a mail provider, including gmail. don't know if it will run two accounts at once. haven't tried it, and am not using gmail as my main account. so take what i suggest with a grain of salt. good luck.
How can I get notifications from Gmail and whatsapp without showing the actual content? Like we do with sms?
I believe it works from the sms setting. The only reason I no this is because I wasnt getting facebook notificatoins coming up on the screen until I enabled it through the sms settings....
Go in to your sms, settings, scroll down to notification settings, preview message and untick it
