Does anyone out there now for sure if someday we'll be able to access Bluetooth or at least the Serial Port a BT device is paired to?
My WM app already has this capability...seems a shame that the same cannot be done in WP7...
As far as I know not even Mango solves that.
I could be wrong of course...and truly hope so!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Nope, Mango doesn't include bluetooth capability. I don't know what functionality you need to use, but would sockets help? Or are you connecting to something other than a PC?

Hi All,
Long time viewer, first time poster.
Firstly would like to thank many of you for posting awsome information and providing a great deal of help to people like myself who rely on these places to get the infor required to really enjoy our PDA/Phones
Ok now to the problem
I have an XDA 2S with the latest Rom, i use it for business because of the WiFi and its ability to browse websites and support Putty
However since getting it i have had nothing but problems with using Bluetooth on it , i now have 6 different Bluetooth Brands ranging from Nokia, Ericsson, Blueant and Jabra and to date none have provided me with quality Bluetooth voice...... Well nothing like my Nokia or NEC mobile phones.
The issue i have is that voice is constantly breaking up, even when the phone is like 30cm away from the Bluetooth, i have tried everything but one thing!
And this is where i need to probe the wisdom of some of you
1. Is there a way to upgrade the Bluetooth Drivers on the phone? IF there is can some one direct me to either downloads, Litriture for reading or to any websites that talk about it.
2. Is there a way to upgrade the Bluetooth Firmware from version 1.1 to 1.2? The guy i was speaking with from O2 said that he has heard/seen people do it in some cases was successful and in other cases destroyed the phone to the point where a re-load had to be carried out.
Any infromation on this problem that others can share with me would be greatly appreciated, if anyone else is having this same problem please do share your experience with me and if any work arounds let me know
Mobile Spec's:
O2 XDA 2S
Firmware 1.40
Radio version 1.12
Bluetooth Headset = Nokia HS-26W
If i lack any information please let me know.
Thank you in advance
Cheers,
David.

Thank you Rudegar i appreciate your assistance
Is there a way on my O2 that i can see what stack i have?
Once again thank you for your reply.
Cheers,
David.
Update: I have the BT 1.0.0.0 Build 3900 BT stack on my O2 XDA-2S not sure if the Update will work on my phone, dont really feel ike bricking it yet, so if anyone has had any measure of success with upgrading the BT stack on the same model phone i am interested to hear the reports.
donno if it looks like this it's vidcomm

What sort of bluetooth does the orbit have, is it MS/widcomm/broadcomm?
Basically i want to use a particular software, and the requirements say this
'MS Bluetooth Stack (WIDCOMM / Broadcom is NOT supported)'
I tried the software on my XDA iis with no luck, but i believe that it has broadcomm.
Thanks in advance.
A software package I run on my Artemis (Labview PDA vs8) requires MS BT only, and it works fine for me, what is it you are trying to run? - Mike

Well if you believe it is a Broadcomm, then the software acts like it should, by not supporting the BT Stack, doesn't it?
well yes, but i want to know wether the software will work on the artemis. the software is btcrawler, you may have trouble finding it, as it is discontinued, but thanks for your replies.
If it need the MS stack then it will work on the Artemis, put it on and try it - Mike
By default has Orbit/Artemis m$hit bt stack. I tried 2 make widcom/broadcom from HTC Universal's (helmi_c) but i never made HFree profile 100% working(not even on Uni) - no chance to answer call with pressing button on BT Headset
alright, now i got it Sorry...
You're right, i did not find the Tool, but i had not very much time searching for it, but i think it will work with the Artemis BT Stack.
okay, thanks a lot for everyones replies.
The device is Holux GPSlim 236. The phone is Hermes. The phone will pair without question on a 6.0 rom, does not matter who cooked it.
It will specifically not pair with 6.1 roms.
I can see the device when scanning for bluetooth devices, i can choose it, it asks me for passcode, but will not accept the "0000" as the passcode. (tried hardware and software keyboards). IF i type in a passcode OTHER than "0000", it appears to pair, i can see the spp slave service and select it, but once the gps software tries to talk with it, it asks to pair again.
Something is definitely different in the pairing process between 6.0 and 6.1.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Also see thread about it here from the Himelaya:

Thanks,
Rock
Did you select it as a serial port? You have to do this after you pair the device with the phone!
I am not familar with gps units, does it have a pairing mode like a headset? I know with my Plantronics headset, if I let my phone discover it without the headset being in pairing mode, the phone says it pairs with it, but it really doesn't, so I put it in pair mode then turn on bluetooth on my phone and pair up as normal(0000 passkey) and all works fine.
I have exactly the same GPS unit and have no problem pairing it with the probably 15+ WM6.1 roms I have tried.
Try leaving the battery out of the 236 slim for a few minutes and see if that helps. (can't remember is there is another way to reset it)
Bluetooth Pairing with 6.1
In the latest PC Pro magazine in the UK, there is an article on WM 6.1. It says:
"There's another neat feature in WM 6.1, namely that when you try to pair the phone with something like a GPS dongle or hands-free kit that has a fixed PIN, the operating system will cycle through a set of common codes (0000, 1234, 8888 and so on) to try to find the right one."
It goes on to say that there is the potential to get locked out of the pairing if it goes wrong.
I have to say that I have not had any problems pairing with my GPS unit and my car kit, using a number of 6.1 ROMs. Indeed I have seen no evidence of the above software routine trying to pair for me. Possibly, that routine will only appear in the production ROMs, rather than the development ones which we use on XDA Developers.
I had issues with the same device on some roms. I eventually changed BT drivers from WM6 and all went back to normal.
On some WM6.1 roms things went OK though.
Try not using any password when you try and pair it manually.
If it asks would you like to pair your device automatically select no and do it manually.
I was having this problem but WM6.1 does not require a bluetooth passcode for most devices.
mines gps is a holux 240 and i have the same probs

You are not the only one
I reverted back to the 6.0 and it pairs without issue. I am thinking that alot of these cookers do not pay much attention to the development of bluetooth in some of their roms. Its not like I changed something on the GPS, so something must have happened with the software.... Still investigating. I hope it works on schaps new rom.

this method paired my jabra automatically, it didnt even ask if i wanted to do it auto, i juck clicked "pair" and there it was.
When pairing the holux 236 on the other hand, it would ask for a passcode, then reject it if you put in the correct code of "0000". If you canceled it, it would appear in the connected devices list!!, but still ask to pair once the gps application tries to connect. VERY jacked up.

Did that article describe any way of disabling that feature? That functionality could easily trick a simple bluetooth device if it is not expecting such a rampage of codes...

No, there was no mention of if it could be disabled.

Wam, which rom are you using now that it works with? id like to download and try it. The 5 or so ive tried did not work.
I power cycle the device without any change in pairing succession.
Thanks!

Does anyone know if it is possible to use my Dash's data(internet) on my ipod touch? Through BlueTooth or broadcasting using the wifi somehow?
TIA

Thanks it seems to work fine just a little slow on the net. Thanks again.
No problem, you can't do it via. Bluetooth which is due to a limitation of the iPod touch rather than the phone. WiFi is the only other way

Is it limitations or restrictions set by Apple? Would jail breaking a ipod help that?
The Apple Bluetooth stack in the Touch is currently used for the Nike+ thingy and also in the latest software, for A2DP. Everything else is clearly restricted by Apple. I doubt JBing would help, think probably you would need to rewrite the Bluetooth stack, drivers and write software to handle whatever you wanted to do, e.g. file transfers.
Seems like a big job and with no technical documentation, a difficult one too!
Any news on the bluetooth situation? Did the J16 change anything, or are we still screwed on BT keyboards and Wiimotes?

JI6 does not allow HID mode devices.
Maybe with froyo since the Tab might have have it set up properly. Just wild speculation on my part, but it would make sense.
Unfortunately, it making sense is also one of the main reasons Samsung probably won't do it.
