Not true...there was a thread in this very forum just a day or two ago entitled "CM7 Camera sound" or something to that affect. One of the post contains a flashable file that gets rid of the annoying focus/shutter sound. Just remember that if you flash a new nightly you have to flash that zip again.
Isnt it just by deleting the sound file? I heard of that, but not sure where it is.
Probably the Sd card root?

Is anyone able to get the notification volume up to what it was in DI18? Since EB13 came around they cut it down to where you can barely hear it and the ringer is obnoxiously loud. Being I text mostly having the louder notification volume would be ideal for me.
IIRC I think someone patched this up in DK28 but I haven't seen anything on it since.

Now make it work on EF02! lol
Yeah if you can make it work for EF02 it would be awesome.
has any one tried this on ef02? it may work fine...i haven't looked at the files but i'd say make a backup in cwm and flash it and let us know if it works...worst case is you have restore a backup no harm done
if it doesn't work then i will make one that works for ef02
well i just compared the stock files from ec05 to ef02 and they are indeed different so i'll have to make a new one for gingerbread...not going to have time to do it today but i'll churn one up soon

There's an old volume hack out there. I can't remember who or where though. The file name Samsung_galaxy's_volumehack, if remember correctly. But you may want to check with your ROM dev .....I know a few ROM's have this hack built in

pritty much because its baked into the camera apk and its a real pita to remove it otherwise
I think so or you have to know what file to take out of the rom to make it work. If I was you I would try out some of the roms there great. Calk rom is very fast and has great battery life too u should try it just remember to a nand backup of the stock so you can go right back to it if you don't like the other roms

Alright I'll root my phone when I get home
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G Touch using XDA Premium
Specifically you have to replace the camera.apk (and its support file) with one that's been repackaged without the shutter sound. Also remove a few other .ogg files from the phone. If you search the forum for "shutter sound" you'll find the appropriate instructions. This was what finally got me to root.
You can actually just download one of the silentcamera apps that will kill the shutter but still leave the little beep. But you want completely silent then you have to root and us the development here on the board.
Hang on, I got this buddy.
Go Here
1: Download the camera.apk (rename it to Camera.apk after unzipping).
2: Move it to /system (should everwrite the stock camera).
3: Change permissions to match all other /system/app permissions
4: Reboot
Also, make sure to delete the shutter and video sounds in /system/media/ui - the instructions in the thread will give you all this info too.
Happy shooting!
Can't you just remove the ogg sound file in /system/media/ui?

No problem. Glad to help!
Does anyone have the same problem that i have; when I'm listening to a music player, it skips and just goes to a new song sometimes. I'm not sure if it's because of the "control apps with voice" feature and it's getting confused or what. I turned off the voice command of apps to make sure but it did it that way also.
I also had what sounded like two tracks going at once....not sure.
I was mowing and it was happening and also driving in the car with the window down it was doing it.

I don't know what you mean service...you mean like crack the case and start trying to fix things? No way.
I never had it prior to rooting or flashing
a custom Rom but afterwards. I found it to be because I want "safely" ejecting my device from my computer. It was my files becoming corrupt from that had no problems after using eject hardware safely

If you want to have louder volume Flash this zip. It was developed by Meltus SG3 Developer but it works on our phone. You can flash the zip or open the zip and place default.gain file to system/etc. and reboot afterwards to hear the difference it really works great with headphones. If you want to change the volume find 'AIF1 Boost volume' and change value from anything 1 to 63. You can edit the files yourself to the volume you want it to be but anything over 63 might break the sound so don't push it. I have mine on set to 60 with PowerAmp it's superloud and I love it LOUD!!!! More info go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136&page=1

Does it matter which recovery you use? I use TWRP and it keeps giving me the flash failed error message. This is actually the first file I have tried flashing since I switched from CWM to TWRP. I can just place it in the system folder no problem. Just curious if this is a know issue with TWRP.
So I edited all the AIF1 Boost volumes to 55... it didn't seem to make a difference. Is 55 too low.? I sent it to the pc and edited it in text pad.. Then emailed it back to myself. Then I used root explorer to put it in system /etc.

I noticed in the file there are some lines that indicate you could adjust the in call volume. If you also adjust this to 60 would that work? Is this mod designed to accomplisht that?

Actually, I flashed this and there is NO difference in volume sound what-so-ever.
And ACTUALLY, I never found any sound "tweaks" that really worked, except
the app. Volume+ version 1.7.1. (Please remember the Version, as any version higher than that will NOT work).
So, if you REALLY want loud, LOUD sound, try Volume+ V1.7.1!!!!
And for the OP, please take the Volume+ v.1.7.1.apk and see why it is the only
one that REALLY makes a difference in volume LOUDNESS...
It seems that nobody can reproduce that performance yet....(Are you man enough for that challenge??)
