I've been bouncing back and forth between optimized shift and the hybrid sense 3.0 roms and since the hybrid has gotten more stable I've been sticking with that.
I feel like I remember reading somewhere to use the gb leak radio 05.06 with the 3.0 roms? but I was getting horrible service with that so I switched to the 4.08 radio and things haven't gotten much better. Does the ROM have any affect on my signal or should I just keep flashing radios until I find what works best for me? Thanks in advance for your help!

Alright thanks I wasn't sure. Appreciate it.

radios helped a lot for me,the hybrid prl is useless in my neighborhood but I noticed different averages between signal measurements.some gave me around -100dBm,others around -91 and -92. for me I'm outside northeast philadelphia and 9.01 seems to be the best with an average of -87. not the best quality compared to others but it's the one that gives me the best signal
Maybe ill try the 9.01 since I'm in northern Delaware that isn't too far away. The hybrid prl is for alltell towers or something right?
Sent from my Hybrid using XDA App
Ok. So I just flashed the 9.01 radio and updated the prl and it went from 52997 to 52341 is that moving backwards or is that just how it goes? Sorry for the noob questions but my prl never changed when updating before.
Sent from my Hybrid using XDA App
it's a negative value so the closer to 0 the better,-89 is better than -102 for example
I know the dbm is a negative value. I just didn't know if the prl being a lower number made it older or outdated.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
older yes,outdated....highly unlikely if you're service is fine
Alright cool. Thanks for your help bud.

After I rooted the phone I have been getting really bad signal everywhere I go. The Speedtest.net app says my download is about 500kbps down and 79kbps, I have tried multiple servers. This is significantly slower than I was previously getting and is very apparent in use. In settings I have seen signal strength between -120dBm and -80dBm. I have the latest radio, pri, prl, and have tried multiple roms with the same result. I am presently running the evervolv alpha 15. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You should go to a stable rom instead of a alpha rom

I NEED help finding the .30 Radio everyone keeps talking about. I heard it gets better service and i live in an area where i get very little service! PLEASE post a link tto it or to the thread. Thank You SOOOO much! Also, if you can, post your thoughts on the .30 radio or recommendations of radios! One last thing, I get HORRIBLE battery life , if you can't answer about the radio please give me KERNEL recommendations!
Phone: T-Mobile G2
Rom: meXdroidMod Pre-GhostChili
Kernel: Umaro Kernel 2.6.35.13
Android Version: 2.3.4
Here is a link to all the radios available and info on how to flash.
Thank you sooo much!! Just flashed the .30 radio and my service is AMAZING!! YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!!

From my experience with meXdroidMod roms, they suck when it comes to battery life so switching roms might help. But that's just my 2 cents
* Thank you. That is all......
A radio is not gonna change your battery life as drastically as you are hoping for. Changing roms like the above poster suggested is your best bet.

That's depends on your definition of drastic though. Switching from the .17 radio to .30 radio have me an extra 2.5 hrs a day because where I worked at the time my phone wasn't getting horrid reception for 8 hours at a time. I would consider that drastic but not everyone will have results that differential
* Thank you. That is all......
Can anyone help explain how to match ril's of a radio that's flashed? I keep seeing that on a development thread. Supposedly it may or may not give you better reception/gps lock?

Just curious what radio you were on prior to flashing to .30 since there is a newer radio, Vision_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03 available. I'm wondering if .30 is somehow better than the newer .03 and maybe that's why you flashed it rather than the newer radio.

I personally get better battery life on meXdroid than any other rom I've ever tried. Most people that complain about battery life on this mod don't calibrate the battery after flashing. Also meXdroidMod is the only rom I know of that uses waydownsouth's tweaKr script that allows you to undervolt your cpu and set profiles that react much faster than setCPU. I can get 20 hours of heavy usage out of one charge, or about two days if I'm using it lightly, but to each their own....

Here is a link to a radio to ril automatcher that has been updated to support the latest two radios. Just flash this zip in recovery and you're good to go!

Also don't forget .30 came from an aosp rom and .03 came from a sense rom. So if your on aosp I would stay with .30

It actually really depends on your location and phone. everyone gets different results with each modem. Me personally I use EC05 on any ROM. even EG22.
Just test each one til u see which is best?
Some one correct me if I am wrong but modems are not ROM dependent. I am running EE03 I think on Bonsai 4.1.3 I am thinking of going back to stock modem to try for better battery life.

You are correct Taz, modems are not ROM dependent. However for the EG22 leak ROMs I have found the EG22 modem works the best. Just about any modem on Froyo seems to work well. Some have reported more bars with certain modems but I always found I could have 1 bar then hold my phone a different way and get 3 in the same spot. No modem worked well in my house so I got an Airave.
To the OP...whatever works best for you since you are on froyo.
Thanks gentleman

How do you have yours set up? I have CM7 with Savaged Zen and it runs faster than any other ROM/kernel combo I've tried.
Im not running setcpu so its not overclocked or underclocked

Good luck with that kind of find...
If you're looking for a sense-like feel, why not just go with a sense ROM? I personally use Synergy ROM and everything works super fast, no issues, and service seems to be better than when I had CM7 on it. That and sense ROMs also make full use of the phone's hardware, such as the camera...
The support and extras are a pretty sweet deal, as well.

Signal strength is not universal. You can have the same signal strength on your phone but it will display as a different number of bars based purely on your ROM. CM seems to be one of those ROMs where I have a really good signal yet I'm only showing about 2 or 3 bars. Its just the way the ROM displays it. Flashing another ROM and getting more bars doesnt mean your signal strength is any stronger or weaker at all.
Also, if you're looking for a sense feel then just get a sense ROM. There are a lot out there to choose from. I'm actually thinking of running Boot Manager on my phone and flashing a sense ROM alongside CM7 so that I can make use of the abilities of the sense ROMs when I need to.
I switch between Fresh 4.22 and CM7 pretty regularly and love battery life/performance of both. I use Tiamats 4.1 SBC on CM7 and the stock kernel on Fresh, although it would be choice if there were a Sense SBC kernel.

I keep coming back to Mik's roms. On MikG now and love it. Battery life is great too but then I use all the app tricks I can find. App2SD / DroidWall / SetCPU / StartUp Auditor. If your signal strength is bad just call Sprint and ask for an Airvanna. Once it's hooked up you should be up to 4/5 bars constantly. That's been my experience.
Have you tried team nocturnals merge Rom its sense based with an soap feel its pretty nice if you are trying to have your cake and eat it too

Fresh Rom 4.22
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046622
Hello all, I noticed recently that my upload speeds have been floating around the speed that my download is usually at. This started happening about two days before my first root. It's what actually lead me to root my device and try out some of the modems. I'm currently rooted with FC22 modem and the stock rom. Have any of you ever experienced this and have you ever come across a solution? Thank you.
You are not the only one having issue on dpwnload/upload speed. Usually speed control is only done by isp or carrier. So, the best way would be call your carrier and find out what's going on. They can fix it for you.
(You may need to go back to your stock rom and call them. Once they fix the speed, you can go backed to leaked rom. The speed would not change on leaked rom.)

i have better results with FC24 than i did with FC22 you may want to give it a try.
Yeah, I tried both FC24 and FD02 modems, I'm currently testing FC22 to see if it would increase my download. So far though upload is still much faster than my download speed.
yeah i had the same problem it fixed itself after a day or so...my upload was like 3000 kb/s now its like 300 and download is around 400

Welcome to the Sprint NOW dial up network! =)!
FC24 was definitely the best modem for me. I haven't really had enough time to test out FD02.
Wacky u/l And d/l speeds are a result of the leaked roms, not all phones are affected, only ics leaked roms, weird that it started before rooting? I had the same issue, back to GB, no more problems.
Pp.

Just to clarify, I'm on the stock EL29 rom but rooted and currently on the FC22 modem. The problem seemed to go away when I'm connected to a tower close to home, actually my speeds are close to 1mb/s download now. But when I'm connected to a tower near my work the download and upload speeds both float around .30mb/s.
