I put eg22 not sure if this is correct or not any help is appreciated

It actually really depends on your location and phone. everyone gets different results with each modem. Me personally I use EC05 on any ROM. even EG22.
Just test each one til u see which is best?
Some one correct me if I am wrong but modems are not ROM dependent. I am running EE03 I think on Bonsai 4.1.3 I am thinking of going back to stock modem to try for better battery life.

You are correct Taz, modems are not ROM dependent. However for the EG22 leak ROMs I have found the EG22 modem works the best. Just about any modem on Froyo seems to work well. Some have reported more bars with certain modems but I always found I could have 1 bar then hold my phone a different way and get 3 in the same spot. No modem worked well in my house so I got an Airave.
To the OP...whatever works best for you since you are on froyo.
Thanks gentleman

I was wondering if anyone can help me with picking out a good modem I'm on dk28 right now thanks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I came from the dk28 build so I may be at your taste level.
The most stable build I am running right now is
the "old Marcusant ICS V4" with ei22 modem and the new samurai 3 kernel.
I added the gps fix and this phone runs awesome.
Better battery life, faster 3g, better bluetooth, gps works, etc.
it's like running the dk28 rom, but faster and better.
The old marcusant ics v4 thread is locked, but if you pm marcusant he may still have the download.

The newest is ussually the best but differs from device to device depending on your location etc. Ei22 is the latest but there are numerous such as ec05 ee03 ef02 eh17 eg22 the list goes on there's a sticky in development for modems to flash
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Play with it.
I agree with Biggoron that it does differ from epic to epic, i found that my girlfriend likes the ei22 with legendary's rom.
She says its more to her taste and seems to run better on hers.
I always stick to released modems like EC05 and EI22. They work the best for me. Blew up too many leaked modems.
Hey guys I was wondering what do the modems do for our phones?..
And please don't give me heat about using search or using google because I did both, just trying to get a general answer!! Thanks in advance

modem = radio
Modems are in charge of how your GPS, 4g, 3g and singles run. newer modems can show overall improvement on signal performance. but some are better than others depending on your phone. but normally newer modems run smoother then past modems.
The reason saying why some are better than others depending on your phone is because some modems react differently with this phone.
Lets say that we both put the new FC07 modem on our phones. you might experience better performance than I do. yet if I install the FC06 modem I might get better performance than the FC07 modem.
I have flashed a lot of Rom's, Kernels, and Modems and have always seen an improvement with the newer modems.
Hope this helped
I'm using an ics rom (cm9) to be exact and want to use FC07 modem.. my question is will I have to switch the modem if I decide to use a gingerbread rom again?.. will the modem screw with the signal? Thanks for the fast response

Having a modem that is ICS specific doesn't really matter when going back to Gingerbread. a kernel on the other hand from my experience.. I always got a hangup.. you should be fine when you are on a gingerbread Rom with a ICS modem

You can use any modem with whatever version of android you're running. I am on a GB version, running newest FC07 leak modem, works brilliant. (even though it seems that FC05 worked a bit better....) modems are completely independent of the version of android you're running.
Kernels are android version specific. GB kernels for GB roms, ICS kerns for ICS roms, they do not mix. unless you like bricks.
Thanks bro

Good basic adb usage there.
So I'm asking for sort of a review of smoothness and speed of the new fd roms compared to fc18 or fc22. Thanks for your input?

Hold off until fd05, which has already been leaked but not leaked widespread yet.

You will probably get different answers from everybody. I am still using FC15 myself

Exactly why I said hold off. There hasn't been a noticeable improvement since the mid fc15 builds.

I had some problems with FD02 but it may have been applications. Some applications would freeze the phone or sometime just bringing up messages would lock the phone up. I would just have to wait for lock screen, then unlock and see what crashed. The older versions seem slightly more stable in my experience.
If you are working fine, stable with FC22 there's no reason to be flash crazy. Right now they all have their own issues that seem to be a bit different for everyone.
Wait until a Beta finally shows up, or you hear a lot of rave about a certain new leak and try then.. but right now not 'much' is changing from one leak to another.
huge difference the fd05 is the smoothest release yet
definitely flash
I normally don't upgrade til at least three builds newer are out if that makes sense. Unless there is a huge improvement. I am on FD02 and will most likely stay on it until FD10 is released, if it is released. If you are on a setup right now and its working for you. Hang tight. Cause as soon as you flash FD02/05 then FD10 will be out. Just my thoughts on it.
Are you guys talking about Modem or Kernel?
I have been running the FD10 Modem and Kernel on a FD02 build for the last few days and honestly it seems silky smooth for me. No scripts or undervolting at this point and so far I am getting good battery life out of it too.
I'm on calkulin's E4GT2 v.1.4. (FD02). The only bugs I've seen are that some apps aren't compatible, and the sound notification issue. It doesn't support boot animations and i wouldn't chance flashing any themes. It does support different launchers like go launcher so you can theme it that way. Other than that it is very smooth and solid with EVERYTHING else working including hotspot. Good battery life and no over heating. Came from blazer 4.1 which is awesome and very customizable but caused some battery issues. Although there is a stick FD10 posted in the Dev section, there aren't any custom Roms running on FD10. So I'm gonna stick with Calkulins fdo2 until i see something better. I have tried the goodness and its also good but only 4g hotspot. I need 3g so it was a no.go. Hope this was helpful and as far as SOLID ROMS GO Calkulins are the beast! Thanks calk for all you do. Always go with him first. Sent from my E4GTouch myself oh baby i love this phone
Latest is the greatest ......right? :what:

im on aokp with fd02 kernel and modem, best battery life i have ever seen on my device, also the smoothest ive seen, but its the only 4.0.4 i have ran. The fd02 modem doesnt seem all that great for me though, having more problems in low coverage areas than before. as in it didnt work where it used to kinda barely work.
FC24 modem + 4.1 blazer ROM = perfection.

I will second that. I was using fd05 with decent results but the battery life suffered. Atleast for me fc24 was great signal and great battery too.

Honestly I've had the best luck with EL29. If you're set on a new kernel my best were FB27 FD10.
Let's go over this one more time.... (not trying to be an ass)
Any modem works on any rom. As to which modem is the best? Everyone reports different findings. I think it all matters on your location. The beautiful thing is you can try a different modem everyday till you find the one that works best for you

It really does matter on your location. For me, ALL the modems are useless. No signal. The one I use and "sometimes" have reception "1x" is EL29.
Start flashing away
modem i use
I also found that EL29 is best for me at my location. BX, NY
EL29 for me too. Though I will say there isn't much of a difference with any of them in my experience.

I agree 100%. Up to my opinion the signal is worst on the other modems
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Fe10 has a more consistent signal even in low signal areas for me. Not really any speed difference for me but I don't lose signal as often, but it all differs per user. What works best for you may not work best for others, even in the same area.

This weekend I took the plunge and installed CM9 on my E4GT. Like most people in the dev thread I was having an issue where my phone would lose 3G Data after long periods of sleep.
After looking through several CM9 forums, I discovered that if I flashed the older EL29 Modem the problem would disappear. Thus far the forums are correct, but I'm wondering if it's going to matter in the long run that my phone is using the FE16 Kernel with an EL29 modem. It seems to work fine now, but this is the first time I've had those two not match.
Should I be worried, or do Modems and Kernels not have to match?
Nope they don't have to match, its fine. Heck some people are still using the EK02 modem on ICS builds.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
True. I calls from was using fd26 kernel and I would flash the modem every time a new one leaked out. Never ran into an issue
