[Q] stock calander, stock my touch music - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to get the stock calender and mytouch music back on the phone without reverting to stock. I currently have the most recent stable release of CM7.
My wife wants them back because A) she liked the weather on the stock calendar app. B) she liked the stations on mytouch music. I believe I can get around problem B by giving her the slacker radio app.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can try a rooted stock rom, I believe nbetcher and/or chiefzreloaded both have one floating around. If you want to stick with cm, your best bet is getting beautiful widgets or fancy widgets from the market. I don't think there's a way to get those stock apps on a non-stock rom.

stock apps
Yeah, the stock apps require the Sense libraries, which of course are not in the CM ROMS. They will not run on a non-Sense ROM. Something like Beautiful Widgets can replicate functions but aren't quite the same.

Custom ROM Help

Hi,
I'm currently running CM6 and loving it, but I'm torn on what to try next... EViO, Baked Snack and VaelPak are all possibilities.
None of the ROM's really have the exact thing I want. Ideally, I'd like a ROM that has the following:
- Sense E-mail App
- Sense Calendar App
- Sense Lock Screen
- Sense Status Bar (with Custom Battery Icon)
- AOSP Contacts & Dialer
- AOSP Messaging (SMS/MMS)
- AOSP Gallery
- 4G Support
- FM Radio
- WiFi/Wired Tether
- Sprint Bloatware Removed (apart from Sprint TV)
- ADK Laucher (easy to add after the fact)
Any ideas on how to get this? I wish I was a Dev... I would build my own
I have been really happy with my testing of Evio. I have installed just about every rom in an attempt to find the perfect rom for me. The 2 i ussually come back to are Damage Control and Evio.
Some are upset that Dc hasnt had an update in a while but in my opinion it works well and is stable and there arent a lot of reasons they need a big update unles they have something to actually improve it.
As for evio VERY very solid rom. My suggestion if you like CM is to try one of these 2 (since evio is on your list i would go witht hat one) Remove all the sense ui crap and then search the forum for ASOP phone/contacts and messaging apks that were modded to work with sense roms. I know i have seen galelry and am pretty sure i ahve seen phone/contacts. the only one i dont think i have seen is messagin. (i am a handcent fan so havent really watched for ASOP messaging).
once you find the apks of the modded apps you can simply remove the Sense versions and replace with the ASOP version. This would give you pretty much what you are looking for at least for the hard parts. the bloat ware and launcher you can easily adapt to any rom. evio also comes with wired and wifi tether apps preinstalled.
anyway of the 3 i would try Evio next and good luck getting everything for your perfect rom set up.

I looked but couldn't find the AOSP apk's that I need. Do you think it will work if I just extract the apk's that I like from CM6, by copying them to my SD card and then moving them to my laptop? I can see MMS.apk, phone.apk, contacts.apk, and Gallery3D.apk in /system/app. Are there any other files that need to be copied with these?
Any help would be much appreciated.

What is the best ROM with working bluetooth?

Rooted several weeks ago and running CM6 and loving it, but I need a good ROM with working Bluetooth. Don't realy care if I have to go back to 2.1, your answers and suggestions are welcomed.
If you like the stock espresso, just go with CR's OTA rom, it's stock with root as far as i know.
For me the best rom ever is SlideMr4. It doesnt have the sense launcher thus no sense running in the background but has everything sense does. I love it all the keys work everything works and has a light weight launcher included called helix which like a water down version of launcherpro. Htcclay has his themed version called RemixMr4 I think or something like that. This wont be as fast as CM6 but its not slow either.

[Q] Sense Apps for vanilla/cyanogen

is there any way to get sense apps like the Music, camera, and phone onto vanlla phones or on cyanogen
I was hoping there was a way to get the dialer from a sense rom onto any stock rom. I actually may try that out later this week and see if it works (doubtful).
It requires sense framework for the Widgets as I've asked this before, as far as camera mods and what not I've seen that on vanilla roms but I'm sure there are geniuses that dwell on XDA that could figure it out.

Eventually, there will be hacked up ROMs with bits and pieces from every corner of the earth - I wanted the same thing on my Nexus (stock with the HTC cam) and there were a few options (though all had bugs here and there). Given the G2 was *just* permrooted, it might be a few weeks/months before you see some really creative ROMs.
Other stuff, like the lockscreen, can be changed with apps like widgetlocker and such.
You should definitely try out the Desire Z rom, though. It's all kinds of awesome, with new features that weren't there in previous versions of Sense. Hell, the camera app alone is worth it - makes the stock Android camera app look like a joke.
Sense apps have never and will never work on a non-sense based rom as it has far too much reliance on lots of frameworks (its a messy area).
The closest you will get is a rom like SuperVillain (out later today) that is a Sense based rom but with Rosie (Launcher) and widgets removed so looks like vanilla but still has all the sense apps working.
Keep an eye on villainrom.co.uk or the dev section here on xda for the rom release of SuperVillainZ

Enomther's TheOfficial has the option of both the HTC Camera and the HTC Music app - plus you can install the HTC IME (onscreen keyboard) easily as an APK (there's even a kitchen that lets you customize the colors and such).
Your sig claims you've owned 4 android phones. So you're obviously not a super noob. So my question to you is -
Did searching just not occur to you, or did you honestly believe you were not the 7,548th person to ask this question?
I am not asking about sense widgets because im aware that i need to have the sense framework running but im just wondering about the 2 apps Camera and Music. i know that enmothers rom gives you the option to install the 2 if you want and am just wondering if its possible to do the same for cyanogen.
also i have used the Sense Roms for the G2 but i was never really a fan of non Vanilla android.

A couple of apps may have been REBUILT to work without sense, but its not an easy job and certainly isn't something a lot of people have done.
the HTC IME keyboard was pretty much an entire rewrite of the code based on what the htc one looked like, its not the apk from sense just moved over.
I can't comment on the camera or music, but I imagine these are the same.

There has been a sense app ported to stock. Enom ported the HTC camera to his stock ROM for the Nexus... I remember running it.. That was a great ROM
Sorry, I see this has already been covered... But I know the app wasn't rewritten, it was a straight port, with the stock framework rewritten, so it was a straight app port

I really like the browser from sense, I use lpp for widgets so I'm good there. I asked about getting some sort of plug in for google translate onto vanilla browser and got nothing but flame. Hopefully gingie brings this to us... I mean is there any other plug ins other then flash? Honest question

[Q] A cry of help and answers for CM6 or CM7 users.

So, I went from SR3.5 which I LOVED to the new SR4.0, which I love because of the Sense UI 2.0 and the new customizable rotary lock screen... BUT I've had nothing but battery life issues since...even using chads kernel, or set cpu, and even auto task killers. I notice almost all my apps constantly run all the time, even after force stopping them, they start right back up 5 mins later.
So, I'm taking the axe to SR4.0 until it's fixed...which leaves me with the option of going back to SR3.5 with my recovery...but I've seen all it has to offer.
Even though I love Sense UI, I CONSTANTLY hear great things about CM....which leaves me with a couple questions, since I never used it before...and I know it's not a sense ROM.
Which is more stable and feature rich, CM6 or CM7?
If I go from CM7.0.0 to 7.0.1, 7.0.2, etc...will I have to do a full wipe and start over again, or can I just upgrade it?
Other than Sense UI, and CM7 being GB, what's the major differences between CM and SR?
Is there a way to have the same customizable rotary lock screen like on SR4.0 with CM6 or CM7?
Does CM6 or 7 have the stock keyboard? or is there a way of using the stock one on the rom?
If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
First, you don't want to use a task killer as that could be the cause of poor battery life. SR doesn't really have any bloat apps so I don't know what you would need to kill.
I haven't used CM6 but I see no reason not to go to anything but the more current CM7.
I'm not sure on the wipe question but I want to say no, just cache and dalvik.
As for the lockscreen, yes, SR borrowed that feature from CM7. Even more lockscreen options like lockscreen gestures, etc.
I'm not sure what you mean by stock keyboard, I assume you mean stock HTC keyboard? If so, then no there's no way to use it but IMO the gingerbread keyboard is better..

Thank you for the info! Another thing I'm wondering...I have the stock froyo radio...I couldn't find the info on the CM7 section really, but do I need to change to a newer GB radio to use CM7?

No need to change from the stock radio

[Q] Can I Install HTC Sense apps like Music Player on no-sense roms?

Hey guys,
getting back my M8 soon after display repair and decided I want to try something else, no-sense Android this time from the Original Development subforum.
Thing is, I really like HTC's music player and also the tasks app (albeit being similar to Google Tasks), and some of the widgets like the clock.
Is it possible to install these things without problems on another rom? And get at least the music player and the tasks app? Where would I find these apks? Thanks!

No. Sense apps are dependent on the Sense framework built into the ROM. The apps won't work without Sense framework.
Some HTC apps will work on GPE (and don't know if music player is one of those); but AOSP ROMs, no way.
Your best bet is to find a custom ROM that lets "de-Sense" the apps to your liking. So a Sense ROM that let you pick some GPE or AOSP elements. But the other way around (adding Sense apps to an AOSP ROM) is not going to work.
Okay, well maybe I will find a "minimalistic" Sense Rom or have to go with Sense anyway.
