What is the best ROM with working bluetooth? - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Rooted several weeks ago and running CM6 and loving it, but I need a good ROM with working Bluetooth. Don't realy care if I have to go back to 2.1, your answers and suggestions are welcomed.

If you like the stock espresso, just go with CR's OTA rom, it's stock with root as far as i know.

For me the best rom ever is SlideMr4. It doesnt have the sense launcher thus no sense running in the background but has everything sense does. I love it all the keys work everything works and has a light weight launcher included called helix which like a water down version of launcherpro. Htcclay has his themed version called RemixMr4 I think or something like that. This wont be as fast as CM6 but its not slow either.

Best ROM application for me.

I want a stock froyo OTA with native wireless tethering. What is the best rom?
I think there are only two stock rooted 2.2 ROMs, one odexed and one deodexed.

AFAIK, there is no working native tethering, since that's part of the AOSP and not Sense. You have to use the market app, v2.0.5-pre7, or wait for a stock AOSP ROM to be released.
2 questions.....
1 what is oxidized vs deoxidized?
2 what is ASOP?
I just stick with cyanogen. But my wife loves sense.
I'm guessing your Evo spell-checked "odexed" to "oxidized."
Basically, a deodexed ROM has the app files (apks) rebuilt so they're not pre-cached in a separate place, which makes it easier to tweak/theme some apps and such. It's not a huge thing, you'd know if you needed it.
AOSP = Android Open Source Project. This is just the Android OS before HTC gets it and Sense's the crap out of it. If you don't have Sense, you have AOSP. CM6 is AOSP.
But don't get me wrong, I use Sense ROMs because . . . well, because I'm used to them and there's really only one non-Sense choice out there. I'm too used to the HTC widgets to switch for now.f
Thank you so much you are very helpful. What ROM do you use and why?
I love CM6 I update it every night. Even when I had sense I used ADW. So CM6 is perfect for me. My wife however is not as tollerant as I am. She needs sense and she needs WiFi. I want to get her on froyo but she must have WiFi.

I would try Damage Control 3.5 it lets you have sense, you can use the Netarchy kernel and can wifi tether. it is also froyo.

Custom ROM Help

Hi,
I'm currently running CM6 and loving it, but I'm torn on what to try next... EViO, Baked Snack and VaelPak are all possibilities.
None of the ROM's really have the exact thing I want. Ideally, I'd like a ROM that has the following:
- Sense E-mail App
- Sense Calendar App
- Sense Lock Screen
- Sense Status Bar (with Custom Battery Icon)
- AOSP Contacts & Dialer
- AOSP Messaging (SMS/MMS)
- AOSP Gallery
- 4G Support
- FM Radio
- WiFi/Wired Tether
- Sprint Bloatware Removed (apart from Sprint TV)
- ADK Laucher (easy to add after the fact)
Any ideas on how to get this? I wish I was a Dev... I would build my own
I have been really happy with my testing of Evio. I have installed just about every rom in an attempt to find the perfect rom for me. The 2 i ussually come back to are Damage Control and Evio.
Some are upset that Dc hasnt had an update in a while but in my opinion it works well and is stable and there arent a lot of reasons they need a big update unles they have something to actually improve it.
As for evio VERY very solid rom. My suggestion if you like CM is to try one of these 2 (since evio is on your list i would go witht hat one) Remove all the sense ui crap and then search the forum for ASOP phone/contacts and messaging apks that were modded to work with sense roms. I know i have seen galelry and am pretty sure i ahve seen phone/contacts. the only one i dont think i have seen is messagin. (i am a handcent fan so havent really watched for ASOP messaging).
once you find the apks of the modded apps you can simply remove the Sense versions and replace with the ASOP version. This would give you pretty much what you are looking for at least for the hard parts. the bloat ware and launcher you can easily adapt to any rom. evio also comes with wired and wifi tether apps preinstalled.
anyway of the 3 i would try Evio next and good luck getting everything for your perfect rom set up.

I looked but couldn't find the AOSP apk's that I need. Do you think it will work if I just extract the apk's that I like from CM6, by copying them to my SD card and then moving them to my laptop? I can see MMS.apk, phone.apk, contacts.apk, and Gallery3D.apk in /system/app. Are there any other files that need to be copied with these?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Of all the roms, which do you....

feel gives the best performance and best battery life? There are so many to choose from and I hate flashing one, setting all my crap back up and flashing another. I am on Baked Snacks 1.7 now, as of 11pm lastnight. So far it's nice. Not much diff from 1.5 I was on. I like SenseUI, so I want roms with it.
I hear good things about CM6, but it sounds complicated to install.
I'm running Stock De-odexed right now but I working on my own based off the new OTA. For me, CM6 wasn't hard to install - all I had to do was flash it with ClockworkMod and it worked OotB.
Well, if you want SenseUI, I wouldn't go with CM6 since it's more of an AOSP rom. Check out Fresh 3.2, that's as Sense as it can get with really great battery life (IMHO), on a stock "unreleased" kernel. I've been running Fresh roms since the beginning and still loving it.

CM6 is probably the fastest, not sure about battery life. CM6 is not sense and its also not complicated to install. You just need to flash the google apps as well as the CM6 rom. You can do them both at the same time then reboot. No big deal. However CM6 has no sense and thus can be pretty diffrent and raw feeling at first. If you like sense and you want to try CM6 try out launcher pro with CM6 I hear they got some great sense like widgets, plus you can get some sense like widgets on the market. Other good options are Damage Control and Fresh both are great roms with plenty of options. Baked snacks is good though too so really its hard to say whats the best. It really does come down to prefrence.
Personaly I run CM6 and I use ADW launcher. Its fast, and battery life is great. The options in CM6 are awesome and the options with ADW launcher are awesome as well. However if you go with CM6 you are going to want to play with the settings, it will help you get to know the rom and setting it up will really allow you to apricaite it.
Also I dont use a task kill and I dont recomened using one. However, I have heard good things about juice defender and people are starting to swear by it for battery life. Personaly I get a full day plus depending on usage, so I dont use it. I just make sure to charge my phone before I wake up.
CM6 + Juice Defender + Ultimate Juice is where I keep landing. I've tried several roms, but that combo works best for me. Fast, stable, and I get 22 - 30 hours out of my battery depending on usage.
Yes, CM is lacking 4g and HDMI out, not a big deal for me. The benefits FAAAAAARRRRR outweigh those two things.
Fresh 3.2, everything works
Good info, guys. I have been considering Fresh 3.2...I have been reading that thread quite a bit.
Do you have to flash the kernel separately from the rom on 3.2??

Every rom haas it's own kernel, some come with modded custom kernels, others are just stock. As long as you make sure it's compatible with the rom you are using you can always flash a custom kernel later.
Some guy told me earlier that the first 10% of the EVO battery drains away quick, which mine does. You don't start juding battery like until 90%. Anyone else heard this?
I have tried several roms. cm6 is nice but too many issues right now ie 4g, hdmi, mms broken.
I finally found a good rom; check it out.
[ROM] VaelPak v2.0 (9/6/10) -NonSense -[HTC#7][BFS][OC][UV][FPSU] -3.28.651.1 OTA
This rom you can choose sense or aosp apps and 3 launchers which awd launcher is the only real choice. If you choose awd you might want to change the settings to scroll the apps vertical. And of course this being a htc rom it has the stock bluetooth stack.
I'm using the v2.0 with Kings BFS8 Kernel (9/6/10) -

Vaelpak is a good balance between sense and aosp. I use Launcherpro.

[Q] Finding the right ROM..?

I have been looking around, and I can not seem to find a ROM I think I will like.
I came from HTC EVO 4G running Deck's ROM. Seemed very basic and vanilla Android.
Is there any ROMs like this yet for the Epic Touch? Driving me nuts because I really enjoyed that ROM (that is also the ONLY ROM I have ever used.)
Thanks!
Don't think there any any AOSP ROMS right now. There may be some works in progress. You can run launcher pro or another launcher to get the vanilla look, though! Everything will run the same if not smoother.

Any stock ROMs that fix up the stock experience?

I like the current stock ROM that comes with the phone when you buy it Android 2.3.3 HTC Sense on the HTC Incredible 2 as it runs smooth and all. But I was wondering if there was a ROM that is the same as the stock ROM, but without that annoying location icon on the top. And added more stuff into the quick settings, and fixed the alarm clock issue were the phone freezes the clock app by it self.

Skyraider Zeus 1.3 sounds like the rom for you.
Has all of the above requests that you have mentioned.

If we are going to start mention a good stock rom,we are not going to finish jajaja.i am using Magnolia 2.0 and is awesome but the best way to know wish one is better is try a different rom and then you deside.

Magnolia isn't stock.
Stock? Sabotage is close and a damn good ROM.
I"m assuming he wants to stick with a rom that has a sense 2.1 base such as skyraider or twisted. Magnolia is nice and all, but sense 3.5 isnt everyone's cup of tea, and it can be a bit laggy at times (every 3.5 rom ive tried has had some wierd issue).
As mentioned before, Skyraider Zeus is my fallback for a stock feeling rom. It's got some sense 3.0 features, which would feel like an upgrade to you, but it's still fast, stable and setup on the 2.1 base, where everything works...just better
Just got Zeus, love the ROM except I don't like the notification bar that much, any way to change it to look like stock Sense 2.1? And I think the battery is dying faster with this ROM not sure though...
Try Nitsuj's Gingerbangsense. Great rom, pretty stock and he has a good 3.0 patch to put on top if you want some of those features
