[Q] RssDemon, Evernote don't recognize 4G connection - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've noticed that a couple apps don't seem to work over the 4G connection, namely Evernote and RssDemon. They don't think I have an active connection.
They both work great over 3G and Wifi. Syncing RSS feeds over 3G is slloooow.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Not with those specific apps, but with Dr. Web antivirus this also was the case...it wouldn't update over 4G. All you can do is comment or write the developer and ask them to fix it. It's a relatively easy one, I would think.

Did they fix the antivirus?

Yes, in the last update. But there were some app updates where they didn't. You have to be persistent sometimes. Heck, an old Netflix queue app I used had a WiMax specific setting way before they did, heh.

[Q] Market server errors?

Both my wife and I (both on Fresh 3.1.0.1) are getting server errors trying to access android market tonight. Anyone else having this problem? Tried rebooting, tried routing through wifi, neither helped.
Just flashed king's kernel 4 and i'm seeing the same market issues.

Yup, major market issues here, slow, slow.

EDIT: nvm, seems to be the local tower plus market refusing to go thru wifi. Sorry.

Yes. I'm getting it too. What did you mean about the towers and refusing wifi?

Edited OP. 3G here is spotty, so I thought it might be that market refused to go thru wifi for some weird auth-related reason. I wasn't seeing packets going thru the router, at least. But I turned off wifi, verified that I was able to route packets thru 3G, and still no market.

Gotcha. I do hope they fix it soon. There's nothing worse that being bored and wanting to browse apps. It's funny because I normally don't browse much on the app store. Maybe it's my fault
theres a all around problem with the market for the last hour or so i just tested both my Evo and a old Samsung Moment laying around the house and both are having the same problem.(Also my Evo's Rom is the stock rooted 2.2)
I just flashed a new ROM and thought something was bad. Good to know it's not just me.
Same here.

same here fellas!!
It got me too, hopefully it's just some maintenance, although the least they could do would be to post a notice
It seems to be back up. However, I can't find some apps, and it's not showing free apps in the list anywhere near the top when I search (e.g. my wife just searched for "clock" -- she wants a new clock widget). I'm hoping this is a temporary problem.
Actually I'd really like to be able to filter to get just free apps on a search, but, no go on this.
I think they are SLOWLY getting it back up. I don't have top paid tab in my market. Its loading very slow, and a lot of apps are missing. Hopefully it will be sorted out by morning.

[Q] iHeartRadio not working

Anybody else having this problem? Loads up correctly and everything but won't connect to any stations.
I seem to be having the same problem also.
Me too. On my Evo, when I switched to 2.2 I had this problem. The fix was to toggle wifi while trying to start a station. That fix doesn't work on the Epic. I think this is going to require feedback to the developer.
Drat! This is one I was hoping for.

I heart radio not working for me either.
Do you have Tunein from Radio time. You should definitely check it out it has tons of stations search-able.
I'm thinking the developer has either coded it to only work on WiFi, or made a mistake in the application so it doesn't know how to use 3g or 4g networks to operate.
I use Slingbox and police scanner apps on 3g so I doubt it's an issue with the phone itself.
i had iheartradio connect to a station ONE time, ever on my epic. i've heard its a terrible app and clearchannel never fixes, updates it. and whats worse is a like a clearchannel station which cant be pulled up on tunein or other apps. bogus....
it doesnt work on wifi or 3g for me and nothing fixes. and i get stream podcasts on other apps while on 3g or wifi no problem, def the app.
I have it working WiFi only on an Epic. Strange...
My understanding is that this really an issue of a proxy server inserted by Sprint to filter our internet traffic. Instructions for removing the proxy server setting can be found in the "fix for skyfire" thread (my apologies for not posting the link)

I actually found a work around on accident. I knew that it was wifi only. My other post was my suprise with the FC issues. Ill post the work around on my site tomorrow when I'm not on my Epic (which is flashed to Cricket).
So apparently sprint thinks this is the iphone and we want our traffic filtered and/or proxied. This causes skyfire not to work with its flash video feature (and possibly other video/streaming apps, like a radio app I tried). But you can fix it and here's how (credit goes to sdx thread for the moment, will try and post link when back at pc):
##3282#
Multimedia
Input your msl (find it using adb command getprop, look for msl in readout)
Change rtsp proxy to 0.0.0.0 and rtsp proxy port to 0
Enjoy your unfiltered traffic!

you sir, are the man! ran it through, will verify the fix but this is much appreciated
awesome thank you!
iheartradio is kind of sucking on both wifi and 3g. Happens with both the Epic and Droid X. Pandora runs very smoothly though. This leads me to believe that this app isn't that good. Anyone else experience this?
If you apply the fix referenced in this thread, from the skyfire thread, it makes it work, but ya the app itself is kinda crappy, mine buffers every few min even on solid 3g

I have an older version of iHeartRadio that streams much better than the latest...
radiotime
I stopped using Iheartradio because I found radiotime which is much better in every way
http://radiotime.com/apps/android.aspx
Everyway except that you can't get Clearchannel Communications stations on there.
That's the only reason why I have to use iHeartRadio...

I see. I haven't been unable to find anything I want. I bet clearchannel has a lot of stations huh?
94.5 the Buzz out of Houston is all I care about lol.
Haven't really been able to find a good station. Don't live in Houston anymore... The morning show is actually pretty funny.

4g not waking when uses app, Reddit news

So I am trying to figure out why his is happening. It doesn't happened with any other app that I have including Reddit is Fun, which has been removed from the market place. If I have 3G on the app works fine and it is the only one that doesn't work on 4g. Anyone have any ideas?

this happens with a bunch of apps for me. one of my only annoyances with this phone. alot of apps wont wake the 4g connection. but its a well known bug

Unable to stream (Pandora, Songza, YouTube) over 3G, data works though...?

Data for browsing, etc works like normal... But I'm unable to stream any media on 3G, WiFi is fine and I don't have 4G. On YouTube I get an error about connection to the server being lost (something like that) - App or Browser - and Pandora/Songza just won't buffer, but the apps will load up fine.
Oh, also I on occasion will use WiFi tether to connect to the Wii to stream Netflix, but that works pretty well. Occasionally it needs to buffer.
Any guesses as to why, or more importantly how to fix this? I'm stock and rooted, LG8 firmware, but this was an issue prior to this.
Update prl and profile. Are you in a weak signal area?

So odd. I had updated both following my update to LG8 last week when I was at work... I just updated both again, and now all 3 are streaming just fine. I'm in a good signal area, and so is the are that I like to run in too. Weird. Guess it just needed another update. Thanks for the tip.

I was able to fix mine by changing my Sprint network from CDMA to LTE/CDMA.
WTF. So now tonight it's broken again. Even re-updated the PRL, etc... This is annoying as hell. And on an unrelated note, anytime I try and copy a URL in Chrome it crashes and doesn't copy. And copy/paste everywhere else just doesn't work. So mad.
very interesting...the issue hit LTE evo owners too. ....I have a conspiracy theory but unfortunately can not share it.
those that have contacted pandora get a letter that they are aware of the issue and working on a fix.
I have had the same happen to me, flashed lg8 and lg2 with no change. Still cannot stream.

Have you tried going back even further? Might have to call Sprint today. Bugger.
Try updating PRL and Profile. Used to work wonders on my older phones.
I've done prl, profile, changed modem, and even switched to cdma/lte with no avail. Looks like I'll try flashing another rom tonight and see if it works

Unfortunately, still nothing here. So frustrating.
So I'm not the only one having this problem. I thought I was going crazy.
i have been having issues with my evo3d and s3 for the last few weeks with pandora. i have tired all 12 of our demo phones and they are hit or miss, mostly misses lol.i have had a few customers asking why pandora isn't working too.
Still nothing after another PRL and Profile update. This is some bull.
Sprint is just slow and that's just how things are On 3g. There's nothing you can do to change Sprint 3g network it's old technology.

If that were the case then it wouldn't have worked on my Evo... When it did. So, I'm thinking that's not the case...
Anyway, I will place a call to tech support this afternoon, I just need access to a 2nd phone.
Welp. Call 1 was no help. All they had me do was type in some code on the dial pad that took the phone through the hands free activation process. Didn't work (duh)... And then I was told to clear the cache and cookies on my browser (how that'd help Pandora...?) which also didn't work. He then told me he could set me up with an appointment at a Sprint store. Uhm. No. Have to try another tech.
0 for 2. Again asked to update profile... Even after explaining I literally just did. Same with cookies/cache. When I reiterated that I can't stream via apps or a browser the tech sounded perplexed, and then we got disconnected.
So, is my best bet to unroot and take it in? Lame.

Gmail/Inbox & Apps Autosync?

Hey All, long time lurker here, but totally stumped this time.
So I've got my 10 and I love it, but in recent days it has only been syncing Gmail/Inbox when I'm connected to WiFi, but not over mobile data. I show 4-5/5 bars and LTE service, plus I can browse on the internet so I know it's not a mobile service issue.
Is this happening to anyone else? Is this just like a battery saving option? Did I just accidentally change some setting for this? I've checked all the AutoSync and accounts settings, but couldn't find anything...

Has anyone any idea on this? Myself along with two other people I know with HTC 10 US unlocked devices are having the same issue. However even on Wi-Fi the only way we get any gmail is if we go into the app, or turn off the battery saver. Only way to get gmail on data is by opening the app. Also, it's not carrier related, we are on two different carriers
