Sooo, I just tried flashing Damage Control 3.5 a few hours ago and since then my phone has been absolutely horrid to me. I tried flashing the PC36IMG.ZIP but it wont let me for some odd reason. I've tried flashing different roms (as long as different radios). All to no avail, the only things I can access is the main recovery screen and the Clockwork recovery screen.
If anyone can help me out here so I don't have to pay the $100.00 claim to get a new phone I will gladly donate to XDA for all they've done thus far.

Shoot, well I guess the best I can do is try to reformat my card and go from there. I'll report back with my findings.
I think i can help, but i might be a bit off since there not enough info on the post.
Anyhow, you will have to:
1) Download a new Image (stock?): ex. qap.la/~netarchy/BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip
2) Doanload a stock kernel: qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip
3) push both images to your /sdcard/
3.1) adb pus file BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip /sdcard/
3.2) adb push netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip /sdcard/
4) reboot your phone in recovery mode (hold volume down, click power)
5) wipe data/factory
6) whipe cache
7) advanced -> wipe dalvilik
8) Install zip from sdcard
9) choose zip from sdcard: (you should see the BurntDroid-1.0-Froyoized-netarchy-signed.zip there, choose that one, and say yes whe asked)
10) repete number 9 with netarchy-toastmod-4.0.3a-signed.zip
11) now choose +++++
This should get you to a working phone. You will have root and a decent kernel.
I ope this helps.

This is what happens to me when I try to install a rom/kernel. It will work its process and do the "Writing Boot" and "Deleting Files." But once it gets to "copying files," the loading bar will slowly move to 1/4 of the way full, and once it reaches that point it will say Istallation Completed. Does this information give anymore details for help?
Edit: I did try that method, And the same thing happened.

That was the first thing I tried doing. It would do the "Checking MD5 sum..." and then it would just give me an error. I just formatted the sd card (after copying everything to my computer) so im going to transfer my backups back to the SD and see if that does anything.

Does the radio really matter though? I mean, I have a feeling that even if I do flash the new radios that I'm still going to be stuck doing what I'm doing now.
This is exactly what it says when I try to do a restore:
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Error while flashing boot image!

I download them from here, then I set my phone as the "Disk Drive." Or USB Storage when using CM. Move the roms to my phone, then reboot into recovery and flash from there.
Update:
Just tried flashing a different firmware using the old way. With the recovery-windows.bat method.... Seems to still be freezing on boot though. :/
ive seemed to have fixed it. i wiped phone like 10 times. reformatted sd card, installed the rom called virus. it went to bootloop. so i let it do its thing. when i woke up today, it was perfect!

Sounds good man! I'll try that too and see if it works.
Update: Now it's not even turning on and when I plug it in, the orange light just flashes. I know the battery isn't dead because I had it plugged in all day. So, I guess that means I can take it to a sprint store tomorrow and have them be just as confused as I am about the situation, but without having them know that the phone was rooted? Wish me luck!
P.S. Maybe I'll be upgraded from a Nova to an Epson screen? Wishful thinking....

haha yea maybe! that'd be nice, but im sure they would know if you rooted. even if you did, some employees root their phone as well, or at least these 2 dudes at the shop i go to have, so they help me out when i cant get answers here, which, so many people do, thats why i try to keep in contact with certain people on ehre via skype(branden.allert) or aim(backongb561)
I wen't into the Sprint store today in town... The lady was absolutely no help at all. Plus they didnt have any EVO's in stock. So I just decided to screw it and file it as a claim under insurance. I should be getting a replacement in 5-7 days. Hopefully I wont have the screen separated, light leaked, white spot in the lower right of the (NOVA) screen in this next one.
Downloaded mikfroyo v4.5, wiped, flashed nothing. Ok tried it again, would get stuck. It will do a full boot, let me run some things, then all of a sudden reboot again, so my bf who is the genius, cant even figure it out.

reboot recovery, factory reset, cache, dalvik (sometimes my bf tells me to do battery stats, boot, and of course cache) then i install the zip from my sd, let it do its thing, then reboot. works fine everytime. Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
this is what someone else told me to do, (i copied and pasted it) think hes right?
"Ok. I suggest using Rom manager to switch to amon ra recovery. Once you've done that, do a complete wipe ... Including cache, dalvik, boot, data, and system. Flash Rom. Allow 5 mins after initially screens before downloading apps and making changes. This allows the Rom to settle. After you've done that, you can move on with your setup. I would suggest staying away from Rom Manager, you won't need it.
MikG is the replacement to MikFroyo. I've never heard of a MikFroyo 5.x"

Rom manager to switch to ra is right. But I prefer to do it manually. But the letting the rom 'settle' is dumb IMHO roms shouldnt have to settle only kernels do

Flash amon_RA style supersonic recovery v3.08 found in Dev section thru hboot, vol- and power while phone is off, first download the one with PC36IMG.zip in the name move it to the root of your SD card delete all of the name except PC36IMG.zip make sure there no extra .zip extension now boot to hboot(bootloader) by either powering off the phone or a battery pull the hold vol- and press and hold the power button holding both until the white hboot screen opens. Follow instructions to update recovery (volume up) then don't reboot when asked (volume down) now select recovery and press power to boot into recovery. Go to wipe and wipe everything from factory reset/data wipe all the way down to dalvik-cache, repeat atleast 3 times for each option then hit the back capacitive key to return to main menu (search key/magnifying glass works as the power button does) go to flash zip, navigate to your rom zip and select it, press the search key and then press it again to start the update, when finished updating press back button, go to reboot and press the search key wait til the rom boots, should now work without issue as long as your download is ok, if you are backing up apps in titanium backup restore the app only and no data restoring data can cause bootloops/random reboots after the app restore

Hi guys.
I have some question, mostly out of interest really that may help me understand flashing etal better.
When in CWM recovery, if I want to flash a new ROM, I use a fullwipe.zip that I found on this site, to, well, wipe the phone
The last thing wipe.zip says is make sure you install a new ROM.
Now, as I have, afaik, performed a full wipe, if I were to reboot after the wipe and before flashing a new ROM, would I brick the phone, or would it just boot into bootloader etc...
Would CWM recovery still be present on the phone after the wipe is it just running in ram or something?
I also have a load of other questions. But they can wait.
Cheers dudes.
Greg.

I've never done this, so I'm curious to know what happens exactly.
But as far as i'm aware if you were to boot the phone without a rom installed, you would just get a blank screen or maybe the splash screen. Recovery stays installed, which is good news because you need to get back there to install a rom or the phone won't work. So to do that you would have to plug the phone in and use adb to get back to recovery with "adb reboot recovery" or if that doesn't work, pull the battery, hold vol down + power to get to bootloader and then get to recovery that way to install a rom.
If you run the phone without os you get stuck in a bootloop i think. After that not sure what happeness. It's always easier to install 4EXT recovery, dowload any ROM you like from here and flash through 4EXT. No need for any full wipe scripts since a full wipe is format data/system/cache, erase dalvik which is very simple in 4EXT.

answer on your question:
CWM still works, even if you flashed a fullwipe or "superwipe".
But, i just want you to know, that you get other problems if you tried to unlocked your bootloader via htcdev, within flashin new roms.
Lol i dont get it,you wiped her,why would you want to blast off into oblivion
Interesting though, rather start picking my rom out?
Theres so much choice now
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
If you do that you will be stuck in boot loop as no OS is installed and yes you will still have CWM available. To get out of the boot loop just remove the battery. And then just press vol down and power to get into hboot and then you can get into recovery from there.

Hey dude. It was purely out of interest.
I was thinking about this after i flashed the LC ICS ROM.
I used CWM to full wipe and flash the new rom zip, but it seemed to install very quickly.
So quickly in fact I thought that it couldn't have installed correctly.
I didn't want to reboot incase the rom hadn't taken and I bricked my DHD so I ended up restoring a nandroid backup I'd made before wiping the phone.
But if CWM recovery would remain on the phone even after a wipe, then I can take the gamble that it had installed.
Cheers for your answers dudes.

Lords ICS does install pretty fast. But it just works... so there's little/no risk there. I try to always do a full wipe before installing but lately with his builds, I've only been wiping dalvik and cache and updating with the newest build. If something doesn't work, then I wipe and see if I get the same behavior with a full wipe. Multiple Nandroid backup points let me restore to whatever point in time that I want. It's a great approach.
Best of luck and have fun!

Runs well, the otly first poopy impression I have is the pictures from the camera!
Any suggestion on a 3rd party Camera app?

I've found better luck with Pudding Camera and Camera 360. For me, the camera is the only hit or miss item atm. Folks have been posting ideas to get it working right, such as disabling the flash or putting it in burst mode with on 1 photos set. Also try clearing the data from the app too. Peruse the development thread... There's a lot of camera tweaks being offered here and there.
Another note, video is also problematic in the rom too... Really, so long as I can scan barcodes using amazon, I can get by otherwise. I look forward to your thoughts as you dig in... More updates are coming daily from Lord!

Hey dude.
The camera is a real deal breaker for me. With two kids and one on the way I want a good camera and camcorder.
Cheers for your comments though guys.
Greg.
I'm absolutely confused with how to root my SGH-T999 properly. I know I'm suppose to use the search function and read everything and anything before I post a thread, but I'm seriously overwhelmed with what's what.
So far, I'm trying to follow this guide, but when I go check the md5, it says it's not a match between the file I downloaded and the md5 # on the download page. I figured that since my phone is 4.1.1, I should use this image, but again, I try to check the md5 sums, but it comes out as not a match.
So I'm super paranoid that I might mess something up and brick my phone.
I'm betting you checked the md5 after extracting it. The md5 on the download page is for the file exactly as you downloaded it.
You don't have to worry about an update 'path'. You can get the latest and flash it as per the instructions.

Oh thank god. Yeah, I was checking the extracted file. Thanks for clearing that up.
One more question: Let's say I want to use CyanogenMod 10. Once I've rooted my phone with this method, I could get ClockworkMod recovery (via ROM Manager from the app store) and download the CM10 mod and install the CM10 that way?

Yeah, you can use TWRP or CWM to flash roms. It's preference. You don't HAVE to have CWM to flash CM10.
I never used TWRP, but I'm absolutely content with CWM. Hasn't failed me once. Don't fix what's not broken, right?

Alright ****. I think I messed something up.
I installed ROM Manager and downloaded CM10. I then went through the options of rebooting it and installing. But now it's stuck at a spinning circle with "CyanogenMod" in the center. I have no idea what to do or how to get out of it. I've tried forcing it to power down by holding down the power button or doing the three button press (volume down, home and power), but either way, it just shuts down, vibrates a little and reboots itself back to the spinning logo screen.
EDIT: Ok so I've pulled the battery and went into recovery mode. Then I "wiped data/factory reset" and I think I got it to work now. It seems to be at the CM10 home screen now

I freaked out thinking I had to reinstall the apps and data but everything seems to be there.
Again, thanks to everyone that helped.

Will do. Scared to power off my Nexus 7 now lol =]
Doing a factory reset in the recovery clearly states it only wipes the userdata, cache and dalvik cache - not your internal storage. I prefer to do everything my self manually instead of using ROM Manager, GooManager, Recovery Manager, Nandroid Manager, etc which makes a mess of my internal storage.
And it happened again.. This can't be normal. Anyway, did another wipe. no worries but this seems to be happening a lot with other users..

In case there is any confusion.
Factory reset through twrp will NOT wipe your virtual sdcard (ie /data/media)
Factory reset through stock recovery WILL wipe your virtual sdcard.
Yeah, I got that now. Lol I got play with the device tonight and figure out what is causing it to boot loop.

It would be nice if you posted your findings to help others.
