Today IM+ announced that their IM+ app for Windows Phone is submitted to Windows Phone Marketplace for approval. So we can expect the app in 3-5 days. If you have a developer device, you can download the XAP file to test out the app before it get published in the marketplace
Enjoy!!

Too much... hopefully 5 bucks, but I expect at least 10.
Hopefully they will have fixed the caching issue of profile pics of users in the contact list. It made the entire application very slow, especially when you go over 50 online users with offline users invisible.

$9.99 Apparently according to WPCentral. Why anyone would spend ten dollars on what should be free in the first place is beyond me. Messaging apps should never cost more than the app they mimic on the PC.
$12.50 on the Australian store.
You have got to be kidding me.

Of course not. But I haven't had Mango ever since I bought the device. So I didn't have a good WLM client. Besides Miyowa, which isn't bad after the last update, but still doesn't come close to WLM on WM 6.5. So I'm living without a decent WLM app since I bought the device and I can definitely wait the next few months until Mango will be released.

If you're happy to wait, that's all well and good for you personally. All I'm saying is that it's not an acceptable reason for Microsoft to block WLM apps, because we are definitely not going to be seeing Mango for a good while yet.
Unfortunately the Miyowa app is absolutely awful, so intentionally preventing us from gaining a decent alternative is a ridiculous move by MS.

I agree that Miyowa is not the best IM out there, but what makes it so aweful for you? And if your device is developer unlocked, there's still Li' Messenger for you to deploy and use.
The app was working good earlier today, but it has stopped connecting for me. Probably just temporary, but the toast notifications are still coming through and I can't get back into the app to turn them off lol
A very over priced app. Will never buy it on this price, rather download different messengers for yahoo, msn and others. If this was android it would have been free.
COmpetition hasnt started yet, you are losing your customers before even getting them. Please do something before some other intelligent developer takes this opportunity from you. Anyways great work! it is appreciated.

I find it awful because it crashes constantly, and does not support a feature as basic as multi-location sign ins, which is a dealbreaker for me.

I had constant crashes too, when I used an SD card that was not supported on my HD7. After I replaced it, Miyowa worked like a charm. It's still not the most satisfying WLM app, I agree. But it's better than nothing.

Always in the NYC Microsoft press event, with the Samsung protoype...
At the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival (Microsoft Advertising)... WP7 in october!
Awesome. And a much better recording than the presentations at MIX.
It's much more clear the phone don't lag, and how smooth using the interface actually is, when watching this video.
Not to sure I prefer Pink over Blue, but hey! always good with possibilities.
Now that is pretty awesome!

The vocal search seems pretty cool
Great to see the pink accent colour - while it wouldn't be my choice, that means they've added a few more since the leaked and unlocked ROM.
GMail support showed up in the leaked rom already, if you clicked 'set up email account' you could choose it from a list.

get ilomilo early even though u cant browse for it in your marketplace.
Just got it here in oz even though it can't be viewed in the marketplace yet.
Instructions:
Go to the ilomilo article at pocketnow.com USING YOUR WP7 BROWSER.
Click on the marketplace link at the bottom of the article.
This should launch marketplace on your phone, and wallah! Ilomilo appears
Or just go to xbox live games in the marketplace with your phone.
Do not search for it as it won't come up that way for some strange reason.

Anybody?
PocketNow dropped some really awesome details on Windows Phone 8. Now that the information is public Paul Thurrott can talk about it a little more open and honestly with probably more credible evidence.
Some points he discussed that are interesting:
-Windows Phone 8 will be based on the Windows 8 kernel and now Windows CE like it currently is.
-Will launch together with Windows 8 and share an integrated ecosystem thanks to the same code, user experience, and components.
-Data Smart
-App to app communication
-Internet Explorer 10 Mobile
-Shared components with Windows 8
-Companion experiences with Windows 8 (HELL YES)
-SkyDrive integration
-Skype app
-NFC and Wallet
-Improved Local Scout
-Camera Improvements
-Better business features
I'll update this post with greater detail. But in the meantime check out Paul's site for details here.
What feature are you most excited for??? Sound off.
I'm personally most excited for the "Companion experiences with Windows 8". Syncing content between the Xbox, phone, and laptop/desktop/tablet will be awesome.
My ideal future would be to be at the local coffee shop and maybe get a text on my phone and since the phone is in my backpack it could instead show on the messaging hub in Windows 8. I can reply there in Windows 8 and the phone will show the message as both read and replied to. Awesome right? We'll see what the future holds.

Ideally the OS would be smart enough to figure out which networks to use to optimize data usage if you were tethering and not on wifi. But I'm sure there are solutions to make a good user experience.
Seem like nice features to me. I guess the big question is which phones will get the update though.. Tempted to get the Lumia 910 when it comes out here in the UK or Titan 2 but I hate this game of "Will I ever get the new OS when it comes out" that I've had with Android till now. Though seeing as no phones are being announced to launch with it, my wisest guess would that Nokia aren't going to forget their flagship phones lol, HTC.. not so sure =P

It will be interesting what phones get the update. I want to say I think most devices out right now will be able to work with it, unless the new kernel requires different hardware.
I know this isn't the most convenient option for OEMS and companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Google since you want to push innovation forward. But...in countries like the US where carriers still have more power than they should phones need to be able to last two years for two years of upgrades.
Obviously if you buy a phone at the end of it's lifecycle you can't expect to get updates two years from purchase but it's not hard to believe they can try for two years of software support from initial release.
What other features are you guys stoked about in WP8?
Last i heard microsoft was eyeing an october launch for the win8 tablets. Hopefully they release apollo around then too.

Flash storage has nothing to do with OS upgrade. MS policy is to support 2 years for each devices. Dont see why they won't be supported. May be Gen1 won't be able to benefit from all the new hardware features that can be used by apps, but that is it.
I hope so.... but I'm not optimistic

I think the biggest advantage doesn't lie with us consumers, but instead the developers!
I don't know much about coding, but from I've come to understand is if they share the same kernel it can make creating an application that works on a laptop/desktop/tablet and a phone a lot easier. By saving developers time, energy and resources they might feel more incentive to create applications for Windows 8 / Windows Phone 8.
Another added benefit: the sales of "PCs" can boost the number of apps. When you go buy a new laptop, tablet, or desktop running Windows it will add to the total normal of devices that a developer can target on the platform. With the increased marketshare devs will be more compelled to add the app to the Windows Phone Marketplace with the increased ease with their code.
Consumers / You and me...win! With more quality apps added to our arsenal we get to reap the rewards of WP8 and Win8 sharing the same kernel.
WP8 info looks good.
Finally an upgrade from windows mobile.
It looks like it will have an accessible user file system. My main problem with WP7.
Also more languages beyond .NET/silverlight. It will get a lot of standard apps ported which were written in C++.
Targeting of business is long overdue and will improve the software for everyone.
I hope it has more VOIP integration. I think that is the future.

Another good reason to buy a phone sim free. You pay for the phone over the course of the contract anyway so it's never free.
Also the deal MS have is that they have to push every second update at least. So you should be upgraded to 8107 soon. (They skipped 7740 and they can only skip one)

It may not be free, but still cheaper with AT&T in the United States. If you buy the phone at the no contract price, your monthly payment for service is not any cheaper. You just have the option of cancelling without paying $350 minus $10 for each month you had service.
If you are going to keep the phone for 2 years and don't want to switch to cancel or switch to a prepaid plan, it is cheaper to buy it on contract.
And, if you want to switch to a prepaid plan, it is still sometimes cheaper to get a phone with a contract. The HTC HD7 for AT&T is $0.01 if you get a 2 year contract, but is $449 if you buy it for a prepaid plan. So, it is about $100 cheaper to take the contract and then cancel after a month and pay $340. Then switch the phone to a prepaid plan.
They are out of stock for the HD7 for the prepaid plan, but not with a contract, which is funny since it is the same phone.
Is this a windows thing or what? I can't seem to send video through sms, is there a way around this??? Also I received a 3gp file, which I know even a flip phone can play it, but WP can't? I can hear the sound but not the video? This is crazy, we're at ver 7 of windows mobile and none of this is possible? WM 6.5 was able to do this
Windows Mobile and Windows Phone are two totally different products. Windows Phone was completely rebuilt and has very little in common with Windows Mobile. You will not find the exact same functionality between the two products.
One current omission is the ability to send your own videos through SMS/MMS. This feature will become available in the next update scheduled for release sometime this month. You can forward SMS/MMS that have video content in them that have been sent to you, you just can't send your own videos.
Also I have had no issues with 3GP video files, as they play just fine on all my Windows Phone devices.
It's reported to be coming very soon in the Tango update, i.e. Windows 7.5 refresh.
Well I just think it's ridiculous that in this day and age, a company like Microsoft would write and os that doesn't have the most basic feature that has been around for a decade, its not their first mobile Os. Yes one would argue that the first apple iPhone didn't even have mms, but it was their first mobile os, Microsoft has been in the game way too long to have miss something like this. I do like WP but I really think it shouldn't take an update to have something like sending a video through text to be implemented, I don't even think we have the option to send it through email either...correct me if I'm wrong.

Windows Mobile and Windows Phone are two completely different beasts. Windows Phone was effectively MS saying 'yeah ummm... we got it wrong' and starting over from scratch. Regardless of MS' history, this OS is still in its infancy.
EDIT: Also, Windows Mobile was an OS that existed before iOS revolutionized what the term 'smartphone' actually meant. So, again, their mobile OS history is effectively moot.

So you like sending at max a 600kb file through MMS? Why not just e-mail the video or upload to youtube this way it has the best video quality possible?
I agree & I've been pretty vocal about the lack of video mms. But luckily we'll have it in Tango. Which should come within a month, if rumors hold true. But it's still easily the best OS available.

I think that is exactly the same logic Steve Jobs used to downplay the lack of MMS in the original iPhone. Needless to say, the market disagreed...and Apple relented.
Joel
I'm sure it's not 600k anymore w most of the smartphone, regardless it should have been a standard feature to have. You can argue that wp is the first or whatever but I'm saying still, it should have been there, shouldn't be that hard to code it into the os.
600kb is set by the carrier and not the phone. MMS was available on the iPhone 3G. Apple had to work with AT&T to get mms allowed on their network.

Based on the Tago ROM's released you are able to send about 3 sec max of VGA not HD video taken by a phones camera via text. But as far as I understand those ROM's were from the Tango SDK dump. Maybe the final release will allow longer video's. I also know Tango is to provide multiple attachments to a text.
People still send video through MMS? Didn't that die when screens stopped being 1.2"?

I think it's ridiculous that in this day and age people don't research a product before they buy it. So many random things people are beefing about that a little digging could have prepared them for, especially when locking oneself into a 2 year contract.
I really don't care that MMS video isn't there...
I don't complain the infrared isn't in phones any more, its because its obsolete. IMO MMS is obsolete. its a restrictive and expensive way of sending stuff, that you can send much more in an email.
MMS was really only made as an alternative when phones couldn't send emails.
I am sorry for posting this here as I didn't see a Q&A section. Now that MS has killed Spotify + Groove Music, what exactly is going on? I am frankly tired of them stalling all the good things that are actually freely available on other platforms. I am talking about apps like Flipboard etc.
What's next? Insta? WhatsApp? It has now come to a point where even an expensive flagship is nothing more than a paper-weight.
When you ask that arrogant Nawzil on FB, the smart-ass laughs at you and sinkers at you as if holding some precious information that is going to magically transform your life.
Anyways, I will not make this a hate-thread and want to focus on the way ahead. Is it a kill and abandon mission? Or walk on and see?
Windows 10 Mobile is clearly facing the same fate as Windows RT. No offical statement from MS that it will be abandoned, but no new devices is coming, no new apps and current apps is losing support. And the OS itself has not seen any new features for a long time, still missing night mode and bluetooth has been buggy for years.

You forgot to add to this list: Bill Gates told to the Fox News reporter, he switched to Android
Looks like it's time to say "Bye bye, Windows Mobile"...

haha..I read that too. I don't care much about what Billy uses. I need to know if it is time to jump ship? Or is something really remarkable just round the corner. Which I honestly doubt. But the devs here at XDA were making some really good progress hacking Lumia. But this too has been a silent room for a long time. So are the senior devs here too given up?
My next phone OS definitely will NOT be from Microsoft.
P.S. I've got free LG X charge from Xfinity Mobile (also with free unlimited calls/SMS) and now I understand what I really need (I mean incredible battery life). Unfortunately this X charge has an awful camera (like most of LG budget handsets). So, I hope, someone will release similar phone with good modern camera(s) and same (or more powerful) battery, with similar power savings.

So point it. There is no progress, there is no need for it because no new OS futures or system capabilities. OK, I will pay someone to make 950 bootloader unlocked and change the system font...nothing more. Give a break

For me, the choice is sad but easy: I like Windows phones and dislike Android and iOS. I expect to stay until they no longer provide security updates.
I'm not optimistic about the future of Windows on phones yet the options I know of seem worse.
Your responsibilities are to yourself and it's not as if you are only allowed to switch once. What works best for you at this time?

Thank you for your reply my friend. Something very strange happened yesterday. I shifted to my Nexus 6 after 2 weeks of usage of my Lumia 950XL. And the moment I turned it on, something hit me hard. I missed my Lumia. I dragged my feet through the day with my Android device. And what did I do the moment I reached home? I ripped open my Lumia, put my SIM in and fired it on immediately.
This has never happened before. I used to have cravings for using my Lumia in the past. The simplicity, the speed, the security. All of it. I however never swapped my SIM in a day's time ever before. And now I don't feel like going back to my Nexus at all. Though it isn't laggy in anyway with (Stock 7.1.1). I just felt a kind of aversion to it.
What works for me? Lumia hands down. However, what worries me is the fact that slowly and steadily, every app will go quiet. It has already started. Flipboard is gone and so are a bunch of others with it.
Feels like MS is on some kind of suicidal mission with WP.

We have tried VERY HARD to incent app devs. Paid money.. wrote apps 4 them.. but volume of users is too low for most companies to invest.

Of course we'll continue to support the platform.. bug fixes, security updates, etc. But building new features/hw aren't the focus.

Yea I read. All the news blog channels are declaring the OS dead, RIP and what not. However, as long as the basic apps like WhatsApp and Insta work, we are good. Otherwise it would be seriously crippling. Even then, I don't think I would sell my 950XL.
Same here. Will stay with my Lumia 730 until basic apps are alive. Just feels so bad to move to other platforms after using windows mobile
Even planning to upgrade to an used 1520.
(Have a Nexus 5 for backup)
hold , windows phone 10 still works good and bug fixes on the way .

The UWP apps with mobile support should continue to get updates and work on mobile for a while (2+ years or more) unless a developer pulls the app. The legacy apps will eventually expire off...So unless you are gung-ho crazy over certain media apps (because Groove is dying) or want a Google store experience for some reason, there is no need to move to another hand set platform over apps. However folks should do what works best for them...I personally still find Android somewhat unintuitive so even though the huge amount of apps is there I still only use a handful. I am planning on buying a VZW Elite X3 soon and use that while waiting to see if Microsoft is really aiming for an Andromeda device with Windows Core OS.

Well. I will be honest. I've jumped ship. I've got myself a Xiaomi Mi Note 2. I am honestly very happy. This is just not done. They have a history of abandoning products and I should have known it. My bad Microsoft.
So much bluetooth problems with Windows 10 Mobile, since the it was released. I can't understand that Microsoft never have and never will fix it.

With Bluetooth? If I stream music from Spotify or Groove with Bluetooth and try to use the device at the same time, like open the Maps app, the sound will start to stutter or the sound quality will turn bad. Sometimes it also just stops playing, and I have to wait for the music app to reload before it opens.
Sometimes Bluetooth does not auto connect, sometimes it can't connect at all and I have to restart phone.
Reading the MS feedback forums it seems like the Bluetooth problems affect all devices and all versions of W10M.
On witch phone? Mine is 640 xl.
