Help with installing CM7 nightly - Defy General

hi, can anyone help me with installing a nightly
version of cyanogen mod? I have CM7 RC-0
installed right now and i am not sure how to
update to the most recent nightly to enjoy a few
improvements made to RC0 already.
Also, will i lose any of my settings/data?

it is very simple...
just go to custom recovery and install from sd card...
tats all u have to do and u will not lose any data or settings..

Thanks a lot for your help!

[Q] CM6 Nightly Is messing up my home and search also

So I was having problems with CM6 rc2 screwing up my home and search buttons and they wouldnt work.
So from reccomendation I flashed to the latest nightly. Well now I'm on the latest nightly I rebooted my phone to fix a sms problem and now the buttons aren't working again.
What do I do?
Is there a better rom then cm6? or is there a more stable nightly that's better then RC-2?
Rc 2 is the most stable. U have to wipe cache and the drive.. Nightlies are not for users who need a stable rom

See and everyone told me the issue I'm having is standard with the RC-2 so that's why I flashed it.
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem I'm having?
Did you file a bug report on the issue tracker? Might want to start there. Or hop on #CyanogenMod on Freenode.

[Q] Questions about nightly builds

Hi, I currently have Beta 6 installed and I was wondering:
a) how to install a nightly build (I've read some different approaches to this, especially which caches to wipe)?
b) is it possible to downgrade to an earlier nightly build the same way?
Thanks a lot!
You have to go into custom recovery then wipe cache partition then delvik then install the nightly. If you want to go back just do the same process as if you are updating.

Hey guys whats the difference between nightly builds and beta 6 ??
The nightly builds are updated more frequently then the beta. It is like versions of cm7 before a major beta release or rc0 release.

When you saw a new advance in changelog , but no maj yet .
The nightly is build with this change .
For downgrade , this is juste a rom you can wipe and restore a old maj ^^
Yer the latest nightly builds came out wondering if that ones running good if anyone's tried it let me know otherwise i wont bother installing it
Thanks guys
Does anyone have a known good link to a tutorial that would help us further understand the process of moving from CM7 beta 6 to a nightly build?

process issue with cm7

so anytime i try to use the market or send a mms msg i get the error of "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." this is on a g2 with cm7 rc3.
first of all rc3 is sooooooo old.... download either cyanogens latest mod by going to rom manager->download rom->cyanogenmod 7.0.3 ->downoad->and check google apps... oh and wipe everything.....
OR even better download htcclay's SuperCM7 by downloading wiping and flashing this....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076691
that'll fix it my friend..
Does anyone have the newest rom manager install file since I can't update it on my phone?

Which ROM for me?

Hi all,
I bought my defy last week. It came with 2.2.2.
I hv rooted it and have installed Clockwork Recovery and 2nd Init (the versions adviced by Quarx).
I am all set to flash a custom rom, but dont know which version to install.(RC0 or RC1, + 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 )
I have green lens. (Soc module, NOT BAYER )
I also wish to preserve my downgradability.(just in case if I wud need to seek warranty in future)
I shall be really thankful if someone could give me the direct link to the ROM best suited for me. Bug fixed ROMs shall be appreciated.

Try everything. I prefer cyanogenmod and the latest nightlys but used miui and leaked gigngerbread for a while. If you dont flash leked gingerbread sbf you can always downgrade to stock

Flash the CEE DEBLUR sbf and then CM7 nightly from 0822. People seem to have much success with that one.

Could I get the link to best version of cm7 ??
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
this is the 110822 BOOT179-4 nightly, im using it, and a lot of others, seems to be the best one so far.
Thanks a lot for the link.
By the way, is this nightly better than the RC1 v2 version being provided by Quarx?
Also are there any bugs reported in this version linked by you?
And lastly, will I have to install any post installation fixes ??
Plz do reply quickly, I cant wait to flash GB in my phone
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
i hv cm7 RC1 v2 installed. How shall i upgrade to this nightly?
Shall i install the zip through recovery? Do i need to wipe data/cache before flashing the nightly?
Will this nightly enable full screen recording?

Q: Which is more stable for GIO, Cm10.1 or Cm7.2?

Q: Which is more stable for GIO, Cm10.1 or Cm7.2?
Everything works on both, so they are both stable, but cm7 is way faster then cm10.1. Cm 10.1 had some more functions and it has more beautiful interface in my opinion, so it it's your choice...
Both
Both are stable. try both and you will notice that CM7.2 has better speed and most importantly better battery life as compared to CM 10.1
thanks. im using cm7.2 for 2 months and is fast and stable. pressed
Which CM7.2 are you guys using?

I went back to Phiexz 7.2 because I was having a dialer issue with MMB. The screen wouldn't turn back on as if the sensor was broken and freeze like this for up to 5 mins.
The only cure was regular reboots, or the cure of not using sensor (both of which inconvenience me).
Sensor isn't broken and didn't have the problem with stock based ROMs.
With Phiexz I find myself rebooting after a lot longer periods of time.
If anyone knows a solution to this please enlighten me because I did like the newer MMB version.

Do a clean install again with cwm 6.0.3.2 (wipe /system, flash rom, wipe /data factory reset). I don't have this problem on cm 7.2 mmb.

I always format everything except SD before and do factory wipe after.
I'm using px recovery because I thought the latest CWM only made a difference for CM11.
I didn't think to try that and I'll run a backup after work and give it a go tonight.
I've got a feeling my phone has been dropped on its head so many times it now behaves like that. Gio is the toughest phone I've seen from low end to high end in that regard (bar the Samsung Rugby Pro my brother imported from America).
I will let you know in a few days if this is the solution my friend.

Seems to have worked using MMB CWM. Nice work my friend.
If they could put on screen buttons and charging in CWM mode that would be joy (but I'm happy so far I'm not having sensor lag in dialer now).
Any ideas why that was the case because pxrecovery is written for CM7.

PX Recovery is based on CWM 5.0.2.6 or maybe .7 and those versions are not completely bugfree. IF you want to use CWM 5, Use CWM 5.0.2.8 by MMB :good: :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: @Soled101 if you want to use the latest CWM with on-screen buttons and charging support, use PhilZ Recovery Which is based on the latest CWM from the KitKat Branch and can flash any ROM (CM7 too)

I'm using CM10.1 because it is better than cm7.2 and more stable. Mm10.1 is very fast.
Most stable cm7
I want to go back to cm7 from maclaw'a cm9 because of a signal problem. Which cm7 is the MOST stable as of right now? Not sure if pheixz's recovery will work with mmb cm7.
If not, I will try ASOP 2.3.7, please tell me what filesystem it uses!

MMB CWM for MMB CM7. I tried px recovery with it and was having problems with my sensor in call (as in screen staying off for up to ten mins).

Just been thinking of MMB CM9/10 projects as setup wizard sometimes force closes, and I want the look of ICS. Guess that CM10 is a release candidate, so should be stable... BTW what does serial number do? It is 'unknown' but I can still make phone calls etc.
