Gmail sync problem? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have not been receiving my email notifications for the last few days. Only when I refresh or go into settings and hit "sync now" do I get the notification of a new email in my gmail account. I tried clearing data, force stop, and even uninstalling updates (rolling back to 2.3.2 from 2.4.3.1) and still no go!
Anyone else have this issue? Got a fix for me?
EDIT:
I have see this issue in other forums, but I haven't found a fix. Just problems.

do you have autosync turned on for your google account?
settings --> accounts and sync. in here make sure that google is set to autosync, otherwise, you will have to manually refresh in order to get your gmail in.

Yes I do have autosync turned on for all possible accounts including Google accounts.

oh... thats weird.

I've kept my notification disabled for gmail. I just now enabled it and tested and it worked fine. I'll leave it on for a bit and see if that changes.

OK, so I setup the "Mail" app on the phone to sync to my Gmail account, which worked. But the Gmail app still wouldn't sync. Then after a few hours I erased the "Mail" account/sync since it didn't fix the Gmail problem and I really dislike the "Mail" app. A few hours after that I got 6 text messages from "VZWNMN" in rapid succession that were as follows:
"5"
"66"
"5"
"7"
"1"
"1"
And now my Gmail is syncing! Weird, huh?

well at least problem solved huh? haha.. although thats just really weird.

Yeah, I really dislike the mail app and it does have this thing about trying to set up sms notifications that annoys me. Which is why I don't use it.
In any case, I left gmail notifications on and haven't had a problem with it. Maybe something just went wonky for a bit. I was gonna try suggesting disabling notifications, save it, exit app, then re-enable it, then test, but now it seems to be okay

Yea my gmail works fine.

I had sync issues every once in a while with my Eris. Usually I just cleared the data in 'gmail storage' and 'gmail' in manage applications.

Default Mail app not sending notifications from multiple accounts?

Hey there everyone, just wanted to see if anyone's experienced the same problems as I have.
So I have 2 email accounts with gmail, one personal and one work account. I've enabled both of these accounts in both the mail app and the gmail app, and set notifications to be true for both accounts in each app.
Whenever a new email is sent however, it doesn't seem like the default mail app sends any notifications. Another thing is that even when I go into the app and force a sync, the icon on Home will only show the unread count for only 1 of the accounts.
I am still rather confused as to whether 'Sync Automatically' has to be turned on along with either WIFI/Mobile Internet to be able to receive notifications? Do you need to have 'Sync Automatically' enabled all the time, or would an active WIFI connection suffice?
Thanks in advance!
*Update*
It seems the Gmail App works fine, but not the Mail app regardless of whether only one or both are running... any ideas?
Bumping this up...
Anyone experience any problems with the default mail notifications?

G-Mail doesn't push on CM7 RC4

I just updated to CM7 RC4 and everything is working great. I simply thought I didn't get any g-mails recently. I found out they aren't being pushed. Is this a common problem or is this something that I can fix?
May not be a CM thing per se, my gmail hasn't been pushed as frequently either. Verified by using pc browser and sending myself gmail from another account, it was at least a couple minutes before it got to device, was in pc browser in seconds.

I've been using the CM7 nightlies as my "daily driver" for months now. Never had a problem receiving Gmail. Sometimes the phone will let me know there's a new email a few seconds before I see it come into the web interface on my laptop.
The only suggestion I can offer is to make sure that your sync settings are still setup properly. From your home screen: Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync. Make sure Background Data and Auto-Sync are both checked. Then make sure that your Google account shows up below, click on it, and make sure that "Sync Gmail" is checked
Mine can take up to 30 minutes to push mail, used to be a lot faster. I thought there was a setting for how often GMail checked email but I can't find any. So not sure if it ever existed or if Google removed that option. Also not sure if this is only a CM7 thing or happens with Sense based ROMs too.
edit: this only happens on my linked accounts (hotmail, ISP email, work email). mail sent directly to my gmail account comes in almost as soon as its sent. there is no setting in gmail (web based) that i can find that changes the frequency that it checks the other mail accounts, looks like the default is every 30 minutes.

Interval sync settings are generally removed from apps once they achieve true push functionality, since at that point they are moot.
It's odd that we are experiencing such drastically different things. I don't have any idea why mine come in instantaneously while yours take up to 30 minutes. Very strange indeed.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. I was writing my reply as you were editing so I didn't see this when I hit submit.

This only recently started happening as all my mail used to be pushed to my phone a a lot faster. The change happened within the last two months so I think Google changed its policies as to how often they querry the other services for mail.
happens from time to time. go into settings, applications, gmail and clear data / cache. this will fix it.
Note : you will have to go into gmail settings after your inbox syncs and set your settings up again (ringtone, vibrate, etc)

I'm running a sense based rom and I don't have any settings for how often gmail refreshes

Problem has been solved. I'm a moron and didn't check if everything in my Google account was being synced. Everything but Gmail was checked... I feel so stupidstupid

No worries, I noticed the same thing when I installed CM7 for the first time the other day. Took me a while to realize why. It also took me a while to figure out how to turn the vibrate back on when I type a message!
Great rom though.

gmail

I cant get my gmail to retrieve messages. I deleted info and set it up again, but no luck. Is anyone else seeing this problem?
Working here just fine right now and has been all morning.
Is it not receiving them at all or are they just not syncing properly. If its not syncing properly then check to see if gmail is installed to your sd card because i have had issues with it not syncing properly when that's the case.

You've gone to Settings > Accounts and Syncing and checked the box for emails under your Gmail account right? There used to be some options in the Gmail app under Menu > More > Settings but half of them disappeared in the last update for some stupid reason.
Well I checked all the settings and it all looks like they are all ok. I may just have to delete gmail and download again to start over.

GMAIL Sync Issue

Stock ROM, Gmail stopped syncing. No more email comes in unless I manually go and hit refresh in the Gmail app, or go to settings and force sync it. This just started happening. Have the phone for almost a month without any issues, then as of say an hour ago, it just stopped syncing emails. No error messages in the sync menu. Normally if there is an issue with sync, there is a red exclamation mark stating an issue, but there isn't any. It just shows that Gmail was last synced at the last time I manually synced it.
Any thoughts?
Upon further testing, I see that Gmail does have an active connection to the server. If I mark an email unread in Gmail, it immediately reflects on the Gmail client in the Note II. If I send a test email, my Gmail.com shows the new email, but the Note II Gmail app does not until I manually sync it. It's very weird.
Clear data. Should work.
also you might try opening up your settings in gmail, and go through those settings. There is an option there to have gmail sync on or off. I was going to suggest clear data in the gmail app, but that already been suggested.
I used to have this problem frequently on my last phone. I never found a permanent fix but did notice that somehow the settings in gmail would change by themselves and gmail sync on/off was one of them as well as the one where you can decide to let it notify you for every email or just once for the initial email.

Gmail not syncing properly

Hi everyone,
I am having problems getting my Gmail to sync with my phone and it's driving me crazy. I can open the Gmail app and refresh manually and I receive emails, but they don't sync automatically. I've spent days trying to fix this, searched the internet and tried all of the suggestions I could find. So, here's what I've done (each of these I have tried several times at least, except for the factory reset which I only did once):
-Rebooted
-Checked that sync is enabled from pull down menu. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail is set to sync under accounts->settings. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail is set to sync in the gmail app. Toggled off and on
-Enabled background data. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail notifications are enabled
-Under notifications settings checked to be notified for every message, then unchecked
-Using different Wifi networks or data connection
-Cleared Gmail cache and data
-Removed and re-added gmail account
-Overriding filters in Gmail, and disabling overriding filters
-Disabling ad blocking
-Factory reset
Sometimes the messages will sync, other times they won't. When I clear Gmail data it might work for a few messages then stop working for no apparent reason. Sometimes they will end up in "Important" mail but not in the inbox (I set up notifications for "Important" mail and that works SOME of the time). On the web the messages always end up in my inbox. On my Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 they always end up in the inbox and I always get the notification immediately, so no problems with either of those devices.
Any other suggestions I can try? I'm willing to try just about anything. Anyone else have this problem or does it work fine for you? My next move is flash cyanogenmod or update to 4.3 (which I really don't want to do since I know there's no going back), that's how frustrating this is. Oh yeah, I'm using the Telus version of the S3 with stock 4.1.2 and rooted with latest TWRP recovery.
Edit: Forgot to mention that when using K9 mail seems to sync fine, but I strongly prefer the default Gmail app to K9.
Uninstall/reinstall GMAIL
Always works for me when I have issues with gmail.
Heeter
Forgot to mention that I did uninstall Gmail and downloaded it again from the market, but that didn't help. I also tried replacing it with older versions of the gmail app but that didn't help either. Thanks for the suggestion though.
