hey guys.
I´v tried different ROM the last days and I found out that I wanna go back to the original ROM. The one that came with the phone when i bought it!
I´v be looking on this site and on google. But what i could find is really complicated for me to understand.
So what im asking of is a easy understading guide to how you get your phone back to the original operating system.
plz help a noob
thx.
Hi!
If you want a simple guide to get your phone back to stock, this one might be for you.

Additionally, this is a good thread to check out for other questions about modifying your Desire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH... Haven´t tried it yet but i looks really simple.
Thank you again!

I hope you did a backup of your stock Rom, and if you did just restore.
My suggestion is to stay rooted and run a stock rom with A2SD

Hi there
Im asking if somebody can tell me how to get back to stock. I've rooted my phone using unrevoked and have clockwork installed, I've been playing around with custom ROMs and Ive had fun but I want to go back to stock.
Id like to go back to a completely stock environment on 2.2, its an SLCD screen and I have a goldcard ready.
Thanks for any help

Hi,
may I ask you why you decided to go back to stock? Unhappy with modded roms or simply bored with them? Was it worth it? I am considering playing a little too, but I can't say that I'm not happy the way it is!
Thanks & ciao
Luca
I had alot of fun, and the ROMs that the devs here have worked on are utterly fantastic without question. especially LeeDroid and Pays Rom. Both very good, but really it's A2SD that I can't be dealing with. Other than that Id like to be able to update the GApps. I guess the more things change you want them back to normal

Thanks however I don't really see much that answers my question, I want to go back to stock completely, no clockwork and no root.
Can I do this by plugging in my Goldcard and running an official RUU on my PC?
Yes, and the link is in there as I said.
Thanks for you reply toyface!
However, what do you mean by GApps? Google Apps?
I'm sure I'll root my phone, but 1st I want to have the way back safe in some folders on my pc. I know it should not be too difficult to find the stock rom (plus my phone is unbranded, so no need for goldcard or anything), but, so far, I haven't been able to understand which one is the right one for my phone among the many that one can find on this website.
I guess I need to post this question too!
Thanks again TF
Luca
You're right the link is in there, sorry, it's been a long day, great FAQ btw thank you very much!
Yeah, the google apps as in GMail and the rest of the family. I really like the custom ROMs that the devs here have cooked up, I feel the best is LeeDroid, but if you were going for your first go around ROM wise I'd wait a little bit, there working on getting the Desire HD ROM ported properly, and when that happens, the ROMs will be even better!
Thanks for the advice TF!
I'll pretend I understood exactly what you mean by porting the Desire HD ROM!
However, one other thing that keeps me from rooting now is that I may want to upgrade to the HD and so willl need to get back to stock in order to trade in my phone to the dealer.
Furthermore, I hope we'll see Gingerbread soon and that may be the time to root and flash a cooked rom with android 3 since, as usual, HTC will get there much later than google release it.
One last question, if you can spare some more time: One of the feature I'm after, as stupid as this may sound, is waking up the phone using the trackball. Is it true that this a feature available right after rooting even without flashing any rom. It sound strange to me but I read it somewhere here and nobody denied it, so I guess it could be true.
Ciao TF and good night
Luca
Hi peeps, been looking around this awesome forum for a couple days and sort of figured it out but I have a couple if questions and thought I would ask first. Well root with revoked unless slcd, is that right? How do I find out what i have?. How to back up my important stuff, is there an all in one or a particular set of actions?. And which rom I want, was looking to get the desire hd rom but does everything work ok? And what's with the radio version?. Sorry for the noobie post but there is that much into coming out of that search bar it's a little overwhelming. Thanx for any help in advance.

You can use unrEVOked to root any Desire, regardless of screen. You can't backup completely until rooted, but once done you can do a Nandroid backup which basically creates a shot of your phone at that point so you can return to it - kinda like System Restore in Windows.
The radio is the equivalent of drivers - it allows Android to talk to the hardware. Always use the recommended radio in a ROM thread until you know what you're doing
However, before doing ANY of that, do the following:
1. Go to Settings>About phone>Software information and take note of the software version
2. Go here and see if there is a file matching your version. If there is, download it and keep it safe as if you ever need to go back to stock you'll need to use it.

Thanx for all the info and help. Will have a crack after work. But be warned I could be back later. Lol

download rom manager, or just search for recovery image in the devlopment thread.
cheers!
oh and there will be an option for you in the recovery menu to make a backup, so dont worry, just remember to always nandroid backup before installing a new rom/kernel etc!
Hi, got the image but revoked is missing a driver, tried looking for it which resulted in me downloading the sdk but revoked doesn't seem to see the driver it wants. Do you know which one it's after? Or where I might get it?

If you haven't already... install HTC Sync (for the drivers)... Just remember to uninstall again before running unrevoked...
This worked for me, hope it helps

Got the whole thing going but it obviously needed some input which i had no clue about so I proceded to crumble like a school girl thinking I was soon to be the proud owner of a brick lol. Wehey, i have a rooted Desire. Thanks for your help and patience with such noobie questions.
Hi folks, I have just joined as a friend of mines told me XDA was the place to look for help in sorting out my HTC Desire.
I will do some reading over the weekend and hopefully sort the problem out myself and not need to look like a complete tosser. There is obviously millions of members and endless amounts of topics to chose from.
A brief description of my problem : I installed the HTC Gingerbread 2.33 RUU a few months back and ran into issues with the storage, which I believe the update warned of. Anyway, that RUU updated the handset no problem, but me being me I decided I wanted to revert to a stock rom so downloaded an older version which failed to install on the phone.
I used Revolutionary method to gain S-Off and created a NAND back up without any problems then I tried to run the old RUU and hit a brick wall so to speak. I am now stuck on the TMobile UK loading screen and although I can boot into HBOOT menu I cant use recovery to gain access to the back up or anything else.
My PC is now wont find my Desire as a phone but just a Android Device.
As I say I will do some searching and hopefully find my way through the maze of information.
If I need anymore help I will give full details of ROM Version , HBOOT and exactly how I got my phone into such a sorry state.
Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help me.

Ive tried following them guides dude... its just i dont know the RUU I am after ha... found a tutorial that EddyOS posted am just trying that out
EDIT: EddyOS Tutorial worked
My brain hurts!
I don't really want to ask my question, as I just know it has been answered somewhere else, but I'll be darned if I can find a coherent enough solution for my brain!
I have a Vodafone One X in UK.
Currently it has Android Revolution HD 9.4.1
Android version 4.0.4
HTC Sense 4.1
I want to revert to stock so I can receive the OTA jellybean update and start from scratch - but I am having difficulty.
I thought I could just flash the backup I made when I installed Revo HD (using ClockworkMod recovery 5.8.4.0), but when I do this, it just loops into a reboot just as it is almost booted.
I have tried wiping the caches.
I have also scanned XDA and Google, but am getting bamboozled.
I tried to follow [TUT] Disaster Recovery - How to recover from nearly everything [Updated 28/04/2012] but that lead me to needing the RUU for my phone but the only link I could find required a pay-for subscription.
Does anyone know of a good simple step by step guide to reverting to stock in a very simple way?
I appreciate any assistance.
