@xda admins - Bada Software and Hacking General

I am a little bit disappointet here, if on the Forum stands BADA OS why we must everyday read android things?
Could you please split the Areas between two very different directions on one device?
Bada is not equal to Wave or WaveII.
Here are enough Android Forums and only one Bada Forum, why we bada developers should life one site by one, with android users?
I have nothing agains android, it should be clear where things should be posted.
A developer of a system wants to read the specific os topics and no android things between. A split of this two very different Topics would help us all to concentrate on the realy interesting things.
Thank you.

This section is called Bada Software and Hacking General. Developers can communicate in the section titled Bada Software Development

no, because bada software developement is made for software for BADA. not software that's not Bada. If we weren't allowed to post that stuff here then the admins would have taken care of it months ago.
This could get a lock if you ask me

Yes man it is unfair to us, there are tons of android Forums here, and only one
B A D A Forum
why we bada users that are concentrated on BADA should read such stuff as porting
A N D R O I D on the W A V E
WAVE not equal to BADA should i explain it another time.
If here would stand Samsung Wave S8500 Hacks --> Then OK, but not to a BADA related Forum.
I don't see any problem in this, the users that wants android can discuess on the other 90% on xda, leave us our forum clean of Android.
Most buyed bada, cause they don't want to have android, and know we cannot get informations that are BADA related, cause of some Android Fans, in our Forum.
A Android user also don't want to see bada in his forum? Or not? Surely Yes, this is normal the name of the Forum stands for its Topics. And port Android on Samsung Wave have nothing to do with BADA.

maybe a sub-forum for Android will solve that war?!

Yes why not? All other OSes have 5 we only 2. Its time to expand.

I agree with this. A new subforum would be great

Suggestion: New "Porting Android" Forum

Hello everyone,
I have a little suggestion to make. I think it is time to call for a "Porting Android" forum.
As I'm sure many of you are aware, there are frequent Android porting threads started all over the forum in each specific category. However a lot of our beloved deviced are based on pretty much the same hardware. Therefore, at least for me as a non programmer, it seems to make sense to try to increase collaboration between the different deviced. I am fully aware the is an IRC channel where all the developers hang out, but I think xda-developers deserves an own forum non the less, where device independent developments could be discussed and all the device specific threads could be bundled. General FAQs as how to run Android could be made sticky to avoid duplicate discussions and increase productivity. Also, maybe some of the noob questions of "when is it done" would stop once the threads are moved out of the device specific rom subforums and people would see that there is actually some development going on, even though it might be for another but similar device.
Now you can go ahead and rip my idea apart.
It would make more sense, as I have stated in the ... blackstone forum? i think? i cant keep track now, they are all basically the same, which is why I say this is a good idea instead of 15k of posts to read through, it would be 15k of more easily searchable threads.
Hi there,
I think it could be a good idea to put "all in one" forum and/or Wiki.
It would be easier for devs and noobs to find infos
I think that, if executed properly, a porting Linux/android section for each device would be very worthwhile.
There could be sticky at the top, with a simple How-to, a comprehensive FAQ, and the latest versions, and then different threads for people to collaborate and work on different features (Android Market, Cellular data/voice, hardware support, etc.). Then, there could be some kind of Questions and Answers thread, for more specific problems/questions.

The only reason I voted against this idea is because Android Porting is different with each hardware and needs to be specific to that hardware. (It comes down to drivers)
For example, I had Android working on my mogul with phone calls, messaging, net access, etc. That's not the case with my touch pro. Though Android installs on TP, none of the uses of a phone are possible yet.
To combine all potential exceptions under one location might be too cumbersome, especially considering the number of devices Android is sought out to work on.
my $0.02.
I think it would be a good idea if each phone had its own section for porting android, kinda how there is a rom development section for phones
The idea behind the thread was to create a single forum for all the android porting going on here to combine the knowledge of people working on different devices running similar hardware.
There are barely 1 or 2 threads about android for every device. Having a dedicated android section for every device would therefore be an overkill.

Will we see WP7 on HD2?

I've just saw a video in this article:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/19/windows-phone-7-in-depth-preview/
The UI is amazingly fast! I thought it would be slow as hell but it seems one of the fastest OS around now. What are the chances will get to see it on an HD2?
No you will not.

Officially, no...
But unofficially, there's a chance...
WP7 developer devices are out in the market now, anyone able to get ROMs from those?
HTC Mondrain rom, my friend
Please keep speculation threads, and threads that don't contribute to the development of WP7 out of the Development and Hacking threads.
~~Tito~~
Seriously, the next person that asks whether or not the HD2 is getting WP7 needs to be banned
Hey, when do we get WP7s on HD2?!?!
Oh,shi-

Now that is here in general ...
And we have many topics on this subject ... locked!

Request for sub-forum: Omnia 2 Android Development

Can I request the Omnia 2 to have another sub-forum for Omnia 2 Android Development, like the one in HD2? This is because currently I don't think many Omnia 2 users aware of the presence of Android development on Omnia 2. It will also be easier for users to browse through instead of putting all the ROM development in one forum.
Omnia2Droid Project Thread @ XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918778
I can confirmed that the project is a long term on-going project as the dev team has promised and now are working on porting of Android 2.2 and 2.3 for future development. Many XDA users has response positively for the threads so I think we deserved a new sub-forum (e.g different sub-forum for different OS development for HD2)

Post approvement for dev fora

Hi,
I was wondering if there could be a Post Approval for developer forums.
For example in the bada section we're doing an android port to the S8500 which is currently in Alpha state.
Now noobs keep asking the same questions over and over again and me and many others are sick and tired from this.
So if it is possible.. please you guys could save our devs a whole lot of irritation
Thanks

[Device Request} New LG Google TVs

I am hoping we can start an XDA forum for the new LG Google TVs just released which have respectable hardware and android. It is rumored to soon get android 4.2.2 so these new devices might present a new and fun development platform. Right now I'm having trouble finding others out there who are interested in discussing issues with these devices while I continue to imagine lots of fun development projects.
At the very least it will provide a central forum for troubleshooting issues and workarounds with these TVs but I imagine with a little work we can start developing ROMs and such.
Anyone else out there interested? What are the requirements for starting a new device forum?
plz post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354
although innovative its not necessary it will get a respective forum...it depends upon several factors which u will find in the request thread...
^^^^ What he said.
