Hi, before I get started, yes I'm a noob. Yeah, hate me if you get this all the time, but I'm in a pickle here. You see, I've had my Incredible since early February and I rooted twice. First time I did and flashed a custom rom, it was successful. However, due to my carelessness, I didn't have enough room on my 2GB SD card. I managed to reset my phone. I lost the root, but I managed to root again and got Cyanogenmod 7 as my default rom in a 16gb class 10 SD card. I have a few quarels with it, though. If you guys know about the TV out cable, then you know it's not compatible through Cyanogenmod 7, which made me mad. I wasn't too upset when I discovered that it no longer had 720p recording because I have a 1080p camcorder that's also a dual 10mp camera. I still wanted to have it back, but it wasn't a major loss and then not being able to use the TV cable was very major to me. I was hoping to stream Netflix through it. I didn't want to go back to my stock rom because things kept force closing and then I couldn't do updates on my apps. I tried installing the SkyRaider rom, but to no avail, it was stuck on the white HTC Incredible boot screen. I went back to the Cyanogenmod 7 backup. I figured since I backed up my data to Titanium and put all my contacts to my iPod touch, I could backup my data on my SD card to my computer. Then I could do a factory reset. I took out the older backups except for my latest, but still have them stored on my laptop. I did a factory reset, but it didn't do any good. I tried clearing storage, and that didn't do any good and they both took my to the Clockworkmod settings in order to do that. I don't want to do that, I just want to restore my phone entirely back to the stock rom, unrooted. Then I could reroot. Or if anyone can help me at least go from Cyanogenmod 7 to SkyRaider, I will forever be in your debt! Right now, my phone is on CM7, which is normal, but a buzz kill kind of. The main reason is because of the TV out cable. Sorry for saying a lot, but this is the state of my situation >< Thank you!
Download SR 4.0 and put the zip on your SD Card. In Recovery, do a Factory Reset/User data x2, Mounts and Storage - Format Boot x2, System x2, Data x2, Cache x2, then back to main screen to Advanced - Clear Dalvik Cache x2. Then you can install SR 4.0 or any ROM.
I do this before I flash a new ROM zip, and I've never had an issue.

What does x2 mean? Two times?
Yes. I do things twice, as that's just how I was taught.
First boot may take awhile too, so give it a good 10 minutes.
Alright, I shall try this when I go out to Wi-Fi tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.
Just wanted to say it worked! It actually worked! Quick question. Does this have a Theme Chooser I could download like it did on CM7?

Does SkyRaider 4 have a theme chooser? No, but there a ton of themes available in the themes section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=639

I rooted my Evo for the first time today using the Revolutionary method. Everything went smoothly following the instructions. I downloaded and flashed the latest Evo Classic ROM and I was loving it. It seems to be an awesome ROM. I have 200 MB free space instead of 46MB with all of my apps installed. Everything was great until I went to go to bed. I put the phone on the stock HTC charger and climbed in bed. Less than a minute later it rebooted. The phone has always done that at random times so I didn't think anything of it. Shortly after it booted it rebooted again. It just keeps rebooting over and over as long as it's on the charger! Now it even reboots when it's not charging but the interval is as long as 10 minutes instead of 1.
Has anyone else had this issue? I spent HOURS getting everything just right and customizing settings after flashing this ROM and I really don't want to have to do it all over again. I followed the instructions for flashing the ROM. I cleared the cache and wiped all data. I backed up my apps with Titanium Backup and restored a select number of them. My phone is my alarm clock. Now I can't trust it to wake me up in the morning to go to work!
EDIT: I just restored from my stock NAND backup and it is working fine for tonight. I'm guessing I need to just start from scratch and reflash Evo Classic? I can't seem to find anyone else that had this problem so I assume it was something with my flash or an app I had installed?
I flashed a fresh Evo Classic ROM and started over. Everything was great. I got it all setup and restore my apps. No rebooting problems. Put it on the charger. Worked fine. As a troubleshooting step I opened Sleep, my alarm clock app, and within 30 seconds it rebooted. Obviously something with that app triggered it. I uninstalled it. About a minute later it started a reboot loop in one minute intervals.
Apparently no one has any ideas or I am invisible. I can't post in the Evo Classic thread because I don't have enough posts to earn me the privilege.
Did you wipe dalvik? And what recovery are you using?
I am using Revolutionary recovery (I think?). It is the one that was installed when I rooted following the directions.
I only see two options:
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Clear Cache Partition
I have done both of these each time I flashed. I just flashed again and installed only the Sleep As An Droid app fresh from the market. I opened it and within one minute it rebooted. Obviously this app doesn't agree with this ROM or something isn't going right during the wipe and/or flash.
Any other suggestions for a stable ROM that has the new Sense notification bar with quick settings?
EDIT: I found the Dalvik Cache wipe option under advanced. Doing it now and will reflash and try again.
EDIT 2: Well that failed. I wiped data, cache partition, and dalvik and flashed the ROM. I logged into my Google account, downloaded the app from the market, put the phone on the charger, opened the app, and it rebooted.
Is it rebooting if you don't use that particular app at all?

That recovery is called clockwork. You might think about changing your recovery to amon ra since some people have issues with clockwork because it doesn't properly wipe cache and dalvik
Hey there! Sorry about your issues. I don't always check the q&a, so you are usually better off posting on my thread or pm. I just happened to peep on here today
First. Use this. It's the second step on my instructions to flash Classic. Not necessary, but recommended. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
Second, don't use titanium backup. Instead, use mybackup root (free in market and included with my Rom). Not to bash tb, but mybackuproot has never given me issues while I've heard stories about tb.
Third, once you get amon ra installed, boot into recovery and wipe everything but your sdcard.
Fourth, download a fresh copy of classic from a reliable network, like home computer. Downloading from a phone is bad news (just a tip since you're newly rooted )
Fifth, flash and enjoy!
Please let me know how it goes for you.
Truly,
Tommy

Thank you very much for the reply! I will try your suggestions some time this weekend. I need my phone to work 100% as I am traveling so maybe Sunday I will try again.
I followed all of your suggestions and redownloaded the ROM, installed RA Recovery, cleared all data, cache, and dalvik several times, and reflashed the ROM.
I restored my apps and data using MyBackup Root and it took over 2 hours! I opened my alarm app and... reboot. Back to the same old reboot over and over.
I think I'll just go back to the stock ROM and remove the bloatware and call it good.
Theirs one obvious thing nobody mentioned. Google how to check a md5 sum do that with every rom you download and if it does not say its right don't flash, redownload and check again. Also restore as little as possible through mybackup and if you are restoring things like your alarms or any system settings don't.
As for good roms with quick settings like r2r going green lightning fast, or unleashed r6.
Ps I would suggest useing r2r superwipe before whatever you may flash n wipe both caches a few times first it might help

Also id recommend copying all contents of SD card to computer and wipe SD card then reload everything back onto SD card. I know sometimes the SD card can become corrupt and cause bootloops and random reboots
I checked the Md5 sums of everything I downloaded. I only restored my apps, text messages, and Bluetooth pairings. I even ended up buying a new, larger SD card yesterday and I formated and used it when I flashed.
This afternoon I flashed my latest backup of my stock ROM and used Titanium Backup to removed all of the Sprint bloatware. My phone is running very fast now with over 110 MB of internal memory available so I can't complain.
Maybe next weekend I will try another ROM but for now I need me phone to be working since I do not have a land line and I rely on my phone for work.
You said this happened before you ever rooted? Maybe its a factory defect if u got a.warrenty I would suggest unrooting and sending to them.

I got my original Evo on launch day and it had the random reboot problem from the first month. It was very infrequent at first but after a few months it got worse and worse. Finally, one day it started rebooting in a loop while I was at work. I took it directly to a Sprint store where they ordered me a replacement. The replacement has been great. It reboots on it's own once in a great while (maybe once every two months).
This seems to be very common. The reboots I got when I flashed the Evo Classic ROM were as bad as my original phone was just before it got replaced. The difference is that is definitely software based because flashing the stock ROM fixes it. The reboots I had on my original phone happened when the phone heated up randomly and were not fixed by a factory reset.
Its not normal they keep giveing you defects... I have never heard of.this problem anyway... I would take it bac

My girlfriend had the same issue with her second evo. She had the Black Evo at first than a friend of hers swapped her to the white Evo. She had the issue only on the white evo. She ended up having to replace the phone with another one. That one did the same thing for awhile so we thought it was an issue with an app she was running. I have the black evo and made a exact copy of her phone. I never once had the issue.
Sprint ended up replacing it agian with a line that something was different in the white Evo from the black one that was causing the issue. Ever since that day she hasn't had a problem with her phone. I just rooted and did her rom last night.
My question would be does the phone get hot? Or feel hot? The reason I ask is that the phones processor may restart the phone (in effort to cool it down) randomly. That is something to consider.
Glad I got the black

I kept getting the same thing when i flashed classic. I went back to shooter port which runs butter smooth and is fantastic looking with sense 3.0.
DO THIS TO TRY TO GET EVERYTHING WORKING (no more soft reboot)
-connect your sd card to your computer
-copy contents to your computer for a backup
-copy PC36IMG.zip to your sd card make sure it is on root of sd card(attached to message)
-disconnect usb cable then pull battery
-enter bootloader (vol down + power)
-when it asks if you want to install the new update select yes
-after thats done pull the battery again
-enter bootloader then select recovery ( you should now have amonRa 2.3 )
-flash zip from sd card (vrsuperwipe.zip *thanks to virus*)
-go back and go into wipe menu, wipe dalvik-cache, wipe sdext, battery stats, and rotate settings.
-go to partition sd card and partition for a gingersense rom if you have not done so already. (0 swap, 1024 or 2048 ext2, remaining FAT)
ABOVE PROCESS COULD TAKE SOME TIME, MAKE SURE YOUR SD CARD IS MOSTLY EMPTY BEFORE YOU DO THIS (ONLY HAVE PC36IMG.ZIP ON IT)
-select usb mass toggle and connect to computer
-copy over your choice of rom, i suggest the shooter e3d port by team nocturnal.
-flash rom
-go to flash zip from sd card again this time select TeamNocturnal folder and pick a kernel to flash (try all of them if you would like, some phones run better with different kernels. mine runs well with HDMwIn kernel.
-wipe dalvik-cache one more time and you are ready to reboot with no more random restarts hopefully.
good luck - and please hit the thanks button if any of this works for you
So I was having issues with MikG and my settings.... Reinstalled aosp system apps by accident over sense system apps and it kept popping up with error messages....
So I wiped everything and reflashed MikG 3.xx and it boots up... But all I see is the wallpaper and status bar. I see no clock/apps, and am never prompted with entering my google info and whatnot.
I also deleted the ROM and put it on again thinking it might be corrupt but I still get this problem. Wtf just happened? Did I just brick my phone?
Gonna try and flash my old Deck 1.3d rom and post back with results

did you factory reset wipe?
I factory reset from within amon ra and wiped each thing individually as well. Flashed the full wipe version of MikG 3.11 and it proceeded to wipe everything again. Everything installs fine, but when it boots, it just shows the MikG walpaper, and the notification bar. No apps, no clock, no new user "welcome to android" prompt either. All I can do is turn the screen on and off.... I have to pull the battery to turn the phone off.
Putting my Deck 1.3d nandroid on my sd card as I type and am going to flash in just a minute to test and see if I can even boot anything...

You sure you got the FULL WIPE version? If you flashed the UPDATE version you will get these exact same problem.
I got both.... originally thinking it was an update TO the ROM itself. (idk why lol) Decided to keep it for if I ever have to reflash the main rom due to a user error....
But no, I made sure I was flashing the full wipe version. You think I should redownload again and try it out? I had the file saved on my friends laptop and hadn't touch it since I put it on my SD card so.... figured I could just delete the one on my SD card and retransfer
Just restored my Deck 1.3d and its booting as I type. Will post back with details.

I'd do a complete wipe on everything and start from scratch. I just got a new SDcard and formatted it and did a fresh install of MikG 3.11 and it runs like no other.
Back up your SDcard to a PC and format and start fresh. I noticed a HUGE difference in function and performance although it sucked loading almost 10gigs of music back on.....lol
you think it might be an error on the sd card like a bad sector?
Just booted back into Decks.... Although the backup of my sd:ext didn't take apparently and it's stock Decks.... Kinda odd; No apps or anything. Or is that supposed to happen? Same wallpaper though....
Gonna try and reflash MikG and if it still doesnt work I'll follow your method. Would rather not as I did that a few months ago when I partitioned my SD card for a2sd lol...
Will post back with results
Redownloaded and flashed MikG full wipe. Its good now. Thanks to you anyway.
Hi Guys, i have searched a few Threads but looks like, im the first one with a problem like that.
Today i installed a new ROM from -> AOKP Milestone 4 to AOSP LIQUIDSMOOTH-v1.2.
But latley i have seen its not Multilanguage Support included. So i tried to go back to my old Milestone 4 ROM via Restore from Recovery Mode.
But its stuck in Bootscreen. So i decided to install it fresh, as i have the last Build still in the internal Storage.
But also i get stuck in Bootscreen and restarts... So back to AOSP and even that is not better, its Booting but then it tries to refresh the Apps and restarts on half way, and i made a full wipe also dalvik cache. I dont know what to do yet... anyone can help?

Can you still get in recovery? I know it is a bit drastic but relocking and unlocking your bootloader , re rooting and reflashinh might be an option. Off course you will loose all your data but you might have your phone back...
Hi, yeah thats what i have done yet!
I thought there is may another way to get on the storage and getting my files. But however, got a fresh Rom now
I've been using a ROM on my ATT Galaxy S3 that has been acting weird; maps force closing, black screens constantly, apps freezing for extended periods of time, and I want to start fresh. I'm going on a road trip for the holidays and would really like to use maps as they were intended.
I wiped all my personal data but there are still some pictures showing up in gallery and some app folders that didn't get deleted. My understanding is that this is all on the internal SD card. Is the ROM itself (AOKP 4.1.2) on the internal SD card also? If I were to go into CWM and format the internal sd would I lose everything and would the phone be unable to boot or would I be able to simply re-flash the ROM? if i were to put the new ROM on an external SD card would i be able to go back into CWM and flash it from there?
If I'm missing something feel free to correct me or point me in the right direction (a guide would be ideal). I've searched on various sights and can't find exactly what I'm looking for, everything seems a little vague.
Thanks a bunch and Happy Holidays.
Wiping your sdcard probably won't fix anything. Try this
Download the latest versions of your ROM, gapps and if you choose a kernel. Go into recovery backup your current setup, factory reset, wipe data, cache, and dalvik. Flash new ROM, gapps. Boot it up then boot back into recovery. Fix permissions. Then you should be good.
Brilliant. It looks like that fixed all my problems thus far; no flickers, no black screens, maps are working.
Thanks again, hope you have a good holiday.

Ok here it goes. my network service is off so i use my droin inc for games and such. running custom rom wildstang83 IceCream Scencless 1.0. im not sure what happened to my phone but i left for 3 days and come back to my phone being totally jacked up. It wot dl apps the google play reverted back to the old market icon. wont save my passwords for google sighn in. every time i go to youtube it says to re dl the google play services. im sure other stuff is messed up too. i have tried to flash another rom but when it gets loaded back up it keeps saying process. whatever failed and there a bunch of those that loop and i have to pull battery. when i try to factory reset it says everything was formatted but when i reboot phone its the sme as it was before apps and all. So is there anyone out there who can help me with this. Sorry if i posted in the wrong place or what not. i wasnt sure where to post it cuz its kinda an advanced question but not really a question just need help.
not a virus but it does sound like your phone might have exhausted all the space in the /data folder. I had a similar thing happen to me before I rooted and fixed my phone where i exhausted the space, itt went a factory reset and put the phone into an unusable state.
i don;t know anything about the rom you are running but are rooted and have CWM installed? if so, you should be able flash a new ROM to your device, GAPPS and optionally, the low space disk fix.

Yes i do have cwm but i tried to flash a new rom via the recovery section. after i choose the zip to flash everything goes as expected untill after the reboot and it goes into the setup part where u have to put gmail password and stuff in then it basically freezes up with unlimited process failures. but i will try again. cant hurt from where it is now.
if you are not doing so already, i would wipe cache and dalvik cache after flashing the rom. that may fix the FCs.
I would also suggest you run a newer jelly bean ROM like Tiny;s 5-16 with his version of GAPPS(4-05) version plus the low space disk fix so you can maintain parity with what is the latest.
I am currently using evervolve 6-25 and it is working well for me.
the reason I say that is these newer JB roms have the ability to let you skip the activation easily. I don;t know if it was some feature of GB roms but the activation wizard in the JB roms seem to be better my opinion.
When switching to a different ROM, it is crucial to wipe /system. This can be a source of FCs. Also, if switching, it is also a good idea to do factory reset.

I just flashed another rom i used in the past by the same dev and so this is my step by step. 1. choose zip from sd. 2. factory reset. 3. wipe dalvik cache. 4. wipe cache partition. If this doesnt work i will try jb roms but i would hate to have to dump the dev that im useing. there the most stabe roms i have come across so far

what do u mean wipe /system. where do i find that. only reason i ask is cuz maybe ive never done that. but i have never had a problem withthe other 15 roms i have flashed before so thats why im so confused about what happened to my phone. all i did was shut it off and leave it home. nothing changed from my daily use before that and it was working top notch before i shut it off
im getting settings fc. youtube fc, my uploads fc, market fc, clock widget fc, internet fc, rss reader fc, htc sence fc, all those off of a fresh flash ad new sd card
Just lost my bckups that were saved on sd card so now i cant even get on it i dont get it. its not bricked but yet it i unstabe to run any rom but the preivious saved backup (now there deleted)
maybe the rom you downloaded is corrupt. worst case scenerio is that your phone is on it;s last legs.....
i would suggest you try downloading the JB rom and Gapps plus the low space fix.

it;s kind of proven to work in my opinion. the 5-16 build is pretty stable.
what I do is flash the rom zip, gapps zip and low space zip, then wipe cache and dalvik. it probably should not make a difference but I am using TWRP as my recovery instead of CWM.
goodluck!

when i do a factory reset i get a wipe completed. but it says "no app2sd partition found. Skipping format of /sd-ext" could that be part of the issue?? ive never noticed that before
i don;t know if switching to TWRP might help you but it might be worth a try. maybe a coincidence but the last time I had a screw up on my Dinc installing a ROM, i was using CWM. I switch right after that. I think i did read something about TWRP specifically supporting the EXT4 Low space fix.
maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in.
