Hey guys,
So in order to prepare for our (eventual) Vibrant Gingerbread release I started working on porting a couple of my mods to JVP just to learn and this just sort of happened.
With Gingerbread, I only needed to change one thing in the system, SystemUI.apk. The rest is set with my app. Furthermore, with how the app is setup, these mods can easily be ported to (I'm guessing) any Gingerbread ROM.
How the mods work: with how it is setup, there's almost no smali editing (I'm just as surprised as you are). I simply coded widgets in Java, and decompiled the new Smali classes and put them into SystemUI. Then all I had to do was change the SystemUI statusbar.xml layout to include my new widget. However, I had to add in some smali code to get the battery & the signal bar to toggle, however, they're very easy edits . Now on to the good stuff.
Installing
You can install the EDT Tweaks app or you can push it to /system/app
You must push SystemUI.apk to /system/app
I don't want to make a flashable quite yet because I want more experienced users to test this out, etc.
ROM Developers
You may use this in your ROM, however I have a few conditions:
-Keep the EDT "About" section intact. You may add to it, but do NOT remove anything from it.
-Do not rename the EDT Tweaks app, but you may provide your own icon for it
kanging is bad mkay
Sources
For people who wish to incorporate this into their own framework or modify it the sources are in my github (link in my sig, I suck at github btw)
Porting
As I said earlier, there's minimal smali editing. So. To port this to your SystemUI.apk you need to first decompile both of our SystemUIs, then grab the extra files from mine (BatteryText*.smali & Clock*.smali) and put them in yours.
Next, you can just grab my SystemUI.apk/res/layout/status_bar.xml and put it in the same location as yours. I doubt yours has changed much .
Alright almost done! Now to get the icons toggling (my text widgets will toggle without the following smali edits) you can just copy my StatusBarPolicy.smali over to yours OR if you really want to know the edits I did (if you're not using a Galaxy S based phone) open up com/android/systemui/statusbar/policy/StatusBarPolicy.smali and search for "# start." All of my additions start with it and will end with a similar tag. I can help if you like, just message me.
Bugs
- any modifications to the icons will take a minute to update (signal bar toggle & battery icon toggle, just unplug/replug to toggle it, or it will show when percent goes down)

NOTE: I can't support this anymore as I don't have i9000 anymore. As always flash it at your own risk.
Update: I hear this one works with I9000 latest nightlies, ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1368083). To restore original, you need copy from the I9000 CM7/Insanity zip file cmparts.apk, systemUI,apk and android.policy.jar and put them in the restore file i have linked to be safe.
This is a mod to enter custom carrier name on CM7 based roms ( nightly, Insanity etc). I used doixanh's mod for his GingerDX rom as the base for this mod, stripped out the extra features and implemented a fix for the custom carrier name to appear in notification bar in addition to the lockscreen.
I wanted to do this as some members like me only saw carrier numbers when using CM7 roms and not carrier names. CM7 doesn't use spn_conf.xml like MIUI does or look into eri.xml like CM6.1 used to. Now I can enter whatever i want If you leave it empty, it will default to what you saw before you applied this mod ( carrier number or whatever you saw).
Link:
v1.1
v1.0
Installation is simple. just flash in CWM the zip file from above link. Once rebooted, in your settings->cyanogenmod settings you should see an additional category named Custom settings->custom carrier text. Here enter what you want, press done. Lockscreen takes effect immediately. Use the attached notification restart apk to restart your status bar and voila you should see it there as well.
Thanks to
doixanh ( for his mod and knowledge sharing)
ngiordano75 ( for lending a helping hand with android modding)
tenthstone( for notification restart app)
Have fun with the mod!

Fo the battery percentage you are right and for the theme also.
What i mean is a mod like this we are now.
To change through the CM settings the battery icon or the clock colour etc
As for the colour of overscroll glow i don't think there is an option in CM settings,
only to change between edge glow and bounce or both.
In SGS2 custom roms(not CM) there is already a mod to change colour of overscroll glow and even battery icon and colour of clock.
Hope to see them in CM too

Hi all,
I have looked all over and tried a few patches here and there and tried modding the file apk's myself but keep ending up with issues so I thought I would ask if there is anyone that would be will to make a blue/green theme or that could help me with issues I am having to do it on my own. Was able to change colors of files and such on my 3D but on the SIII it just keeps causing issues.
What I am trying to do is something like JellyBomb for most things but with highlights of neon green (close to stock green) here and there like in the toggles, few notifications, the spinner (green outside, blue inner). Or something like the Anaconda theme in the works but with blue/green of course.
Any help would be great, thanks.

Are there any settings that you would recommend to make this work with the SIII or if there are certain theme portions that I should stay a way from?
Thanks

Was using freegs3 by Clark. I had read something about different systemUI files but I didn't know how to tell which one I was on after searching or how to tell which was loaded with the ROM. I may give a try with another rom tonight if you think that would work or if there is one you would recommend that you have confirmed working with UOT. Thank you again for pointing me to it, I just need to keep learning.

Got The AOSP Locksreen to work on stock deodexed Touchwiz Rom.
I'm using NOTEorious Prime RC1.5 JB 4.1.2 AOSP/TW Mash-up N7105
Should work on other Roms as well
This is has Ink Mod Red/Black Built in to the Settings so no need to flash both.
Just Flash the Attached Zips [SECSettings AOSP Lockscreen Addon] and [AOSP Lockscreen] You may need to wipe Cache/Dalvik
As Always BACKUP before you flash anything.
Clock is White Right Now and I am Working on color mods for it.
Have a mod for blue Lockscreen Text
Manual Way:
It is getting hard for me to keep up with all the mod changes and everything going on in my life so I will post the changed files for this mod so that dev's can add them to any ROM.
AOSP Lock.rar has 4 files in side, just replace the files in your ROM with these.
android.policy.jar
\com\android\internal\policy\impl and open LockPatternKeyguardView.smali
SecSettings.apk
/smali/com/android/settings/ folder and open LockscreenSettings.smali
res/xml folder and open lockscreen_settings.xm
The 4th file is only needed if you have problems recompiling it has the changes need for wfd_picker_dialog.xml. It goes in res/layout.
TouchWiz LockScreen Mods
I will place My Touchwiz Lock-screen Mods in this post to keep the 2 separate. These do not interfere with the toggle mod so both can be flashed.
Didnt work for me on CleanRom

Could someone please post screen shots? I've been waiting for AOSP lock screen so that I could get the music controls that are difficult to get to in TW lock screen. I just want to make sure this is what I'm looking for before I load it up.
Also, does this add custom app access like modified AOSP lock screen?
Hitting thanks to OP for his effort, whether I end up using this or not.

That's what it looks like on mine with the all blue text. Will probably make an all black for that wallpaper.
Lockscreen icons are in framework-res. So you can change them to anything you want Slide up for Google Now [Hard to see on White Wallpaper]
I am working on lockscreen mods for this. A lot of the structure is in the original system so it makes it a little easier but I still have to find the hidden ones.
Lockscreen Targets can be modified but not easily. Would have to redirect the targets manually.
It seems this doesn't work Saurom install unfortunately ):
Flashed SECSettings AOSP Lockscreen Addon.zip with AOSP Lockscreen.zip in TWRP. I tried it with and without wiping the cache. All I got were bootloops.
Luckily I had a backup so this was no real problem for me.
Still looking forward to this mod when its working!

Possibly. The framework for the aosp lockscreen is already built in. All I had to do was reference it. Samsung just added there stuff on top. If you send me your android.policy.jar and secsettings.apk . I can look at it and try the method I used for the note 2 if you don't mind testing.

Hey guys, I'm a relative from the AT&T LGOG community.
I made a small (amateurish) theme for the mms.apk for my phone and wanted to try and port it to the sprint variant.
I used the LGUSMms.apk from a deodexed ZV9 stock ROM (posted by b-reezy HERE).
I do not have the Sprint LGOG and therefor have not been able to test this.
Some great users have tested and reported it works. Thanks guys.
LINK to original AT&T thread.
I have spent the last 2 days re-theming the conversation skins for the stock LGUSMms.apk.
I was inspired by whiteguypl's theme HERE.
This has his dark holo theme included. (Has the same little issue where the text color of links that people send you is the same as the background color).
(If you have an issue with this whiteguypl, please let me know).
I have included screenshots for all the themes.
I know they are a little rough, I am still brand new to themeing.
This was some pretty tough work (mostly because I had to learn a lot and made a few mistakes in the process).
Usual Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for any harm done to your device from flashing this.
I have flashed it fine on my phone without issues but cannot promise the same for you.
This replaces the LGUSMms.apk from /system/app/, so I strongly recommend either a system backup in recovery or at least making a copy of your LGUSMms.apk before installation.
Install via recovery.

Are you on a deodexed rom?
If not, maybe try renaming /system/app/LGUSMms.odex to LGUSMms.odex.bak (I'm assuming this is the name of it).
Then reboot.
I had a user say that that worked for another mod on a stock odexed rom.

Right, if you are deodexed there shouldn't be a .odex file, so there shouldn't have been anything to rename (if you renamed the .apk then the system won't see the app anymore, you'll want to change it back).
Did you try changing the conversation skin at all? Maybe one just didn't work (my guess it would be the blue striped background, the image names were different).
Can you try copying the THIS file (just the .apk in the .zip, maybe the .zip didn't flash right) to /system/app and making sure permissions are set to -rw-r--r--.
You'll have to reboot every time you change an app in there.
Thanks, and sorry it didn't work like it should have at first, I appreciate the help.

Great!
By copying the .apk or something else?
If so, maybe the .zip was messed up.
I'm thinking maybe the script is not mounting the partition correctly due to differences between the AT&T and Sprint versions.

Looks like that may have been the issue, changed the script, updated to V1.2.

And I was hoping to do more, but don't know when (see above) and was also hoping to fix the text color issues. I have been looking around in the .xmls and think I may have found the link colors, but I have yet to find out where the colors are set for individual skins (ie. the green "nature" theme has blue text in it because the original paper skin had blue text in it, I haven't been able to find where that is set).
Just wanted to give you an update, changed ROM's and flashed V1.2 and it worked perfect.
Works great wish we had more color schemes or choices

If I could make a request for a blue and yellow theme, like from IGPX, I'd love that option. Lemme know if you need help, I can try to assist

Can we please get this for ZVB jellybean?
The stock themes are aweful. I know all I really want is the blue/gray one.
Thanks!

WELCOME
To
LIGHTSPEED DEVELOPMENT
The latest version, LSD_25.025 uses the M919 T-Mobile Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update as a base. The project's purpose is to offer extra functions and better looks over stock while maintaining maximum stability.
Aesthetics have been considered and vastly improved over stock.
Summary: Going for it all here, aesthetics, speed, battery, extra functions. I have finally come very close to satisfied with this ROM and the device in general.

DEBLOATED
CSC TWEAKS
Theme work

thanks to Dsixda, IbotPeaches, google, XDA a very helpful post from Jamison on his page that I read about adding some code to make the framework apps build right, thanks Jamison904 , you are Cool.

***DISCLAIMER***
First of all... If you have rooted or flashed a custom recovery to a device then you have voided that device's warranty. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD_Cards, thermonuclear war, and no one but yourself is responsible if you get fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me or anyone else for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Collectively, and at the same time. By downloading you agree that you alone are responsible for your actions and device(s).

Installation Instructions:
If .tar then use odin... Read about using Odin first.
If .Zip file then follow these instructions
WIPES ==> wipe all except external sdcard and internal sdcard
1. Install TWRP recovery. WIPE the following partitions in TWRP recovery ====> /system /data/ /cache/ dalvik cache/ everything but internal and external sdcards... unless you want to wipe those as well then go right ahead.. also wiping everything is a good way to start over if coming from builds of another source.
2. Install ROM from /sdcard/ aka internal /sdcard/
3. After flashing completes, reboot into Android
4. LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES
5. Sign in to WI-Fi if available, then sign into your Google account
Remember to Reboot.
Note:
do not change the name of tar.md5 files, why? it checks itself (md5sum) and its name for your safety
If both are not exactly perfect Odin aborts the flash for your safety.

that'd be cool... Who's that guy that made it?? Maybe if he likes my ROM he will let me use his framework =]
maybe you can do it for yourself? dont know the depths it goes into to install it but could be easy... in fact I think that is how you are supposed to get it if you wanted it...IDK if you get any info on uf i can then let me know, James or anyone.
Hi,
Before I'll try this rom I would appreciate if you someone will tell me the speciality and the advantage by using this rom.

It's gharrington. Here is his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41361132&postcount=1 you would definitely have to speak with him to see if you can get permission to use his framework. He asks all devs in his thread not to use it. The only dev I know that has permission is Jamison904. 2 thumbs up on your rom by the way!!

I worked on it for months... it is half the size of a regular ROM ... one third of stock...
I am not begging you to try it btw.. you however are privileged with access to download it for free with no adds no bs either.
what is it that you would want dear?

yeah I remember the name now.. ing in his name so maybe we are distant cousins and he will grant me the use of his framework.

no. sorry this ROM is very traditional in that it has no fancy aroma installer or theme engine =]
to the crowd:
the main feature of this ROM is its theme all blacked out bars and dialog boxes, like you know the ugly blue bars that are present in all the other tw roms right now lol ... now I am sure those bars look good to some but to me those blue bars and blue dialog boxes are gross. and its not like there aren't three hundred different little bars to theme and dialog boxes who knew that was ugly haha yeah no kang please no kang ahaha.... And to a certain love... see! hahaha =]
and being very light it is very fast, hence the naming.
Enjoy responsibly,
and there are rules to sharing... but let the master do as he pleases. I personally don't even want the 3minit framework besides Kitkat is coming soon.. so enjoy this.. this is not a first run ROM like I stated earlier I have been using this version of this ROM flawlessly for over a month so its likely final without saying.
Thanks OP...great work.
