hey guys any one tell me how to add new notification sound in htc desire??????????????????????????????
Put it on your SD card in the folder
Code:
/media/audio/notifications
Be sure to rescan the media after you do this (remount the SD card may work or use dev tools if you're rom has it).
It won't be available when you mount the SD card and if you set an app to use it, it may reset every time the SD card is dismounted (this may also happen when you restart). If you're rooted and s-offed and you can put it in
Code:
/system/media/audio/notifications
to avoid this.
how can i find this folder??????/
i have to join my mobile with computer?
You may connect you phone to a computer and mount the USB storage using the 'UBS connected' notification that should pop up and then you sould be able to access the CD card as if it were a USB thumb drive.
Alternatively you can use a file manager like 'ASTRO File Manager' or 'ES File Explorer' (both on market) and create the folders and move your music files there without using a computer.

Hey up until yesterday my memory stick could be used in WMPlayer on wm6.1 but when i update library list it finds the files but it freezes when adding to library...i can play files if i go open file in wmp or in audio manager but not in Windows Media Player... Also my memory stick wont open as a removable drive when i activate WMStorage...any idea's? thanks
can you put memory card in a card reader? make sure you can see hidden files and delete the folder that wmp uses, cant remember the name of it?
then try to update library again.
1) clean out your SD card slot.
2) error check your SD card via your computer
3) Tick "show hidden files" in folder options and del a WMP meta data file.
Hey guys,
My HTC Desire is not rooted and when I mount the sd card using the usb cable and then I took out the cable. Some of the applications icons are mission, the icon is replaced by the default Android icon. And when I click on them, it says application not found.
How do I solve that problem?
By not putting them on the sd card

That's not a very helpful response from you.
Anyone else?
Are you trying to install new apps pt placing the .apk files directly on the SD card?
If you want to install new apps from your computer use HTC sync to install the apps instead of mounting your SD card from your phone. HTC sync sends the apps to your system's app directory (can't remember the full path right now) where its installed properly.

He's right though.....
If you're connected to your PC in disk drive mode, then anything on your sd card is unavailable to the phone - including music and any apps you have installed or moved to the sd card. If there's apps you need to use whilst connected in disk drive mode then move them to your device storage - options to do that are in the Applications bit under the system icon.
As in, I mean when I mount the sd card to put in songs and files then after dismounting the sd card, which means I plug off the cable already and the applications do not open.
what, straight away or after a while?
sometimes it takes 30 seconds to a minute for the sd card to remount.
and if you have widgets on the sd card then quite often you need to restart to get them to display again.... widgets on the sd card are a big no-no because of this.
not that I used to worry too much, but I always now use 'safely remove hardware' in windows rather than just unplug - seems to resolve any problems with sd card corruption.
Hi guys,
I would like to use iSyncr so I can sync between my phone and iTunes, but I can't seem to install iSyncr.
The faq/tutorial on the website of iSyncr mention that I'm supposed to install a license on the phone itself and afterwards I have to run an .exe file which is stored on my phone's internal memory. I do not have an SD card since I don't need it.
When I try to run the .exe I get an error message stating that iSyncr can't find the license and that I should try to mount my sd card as a removable drive. Since I don't have an sd card, is there anyway to install this app?
Edit: I figured it out. Had to enable USB Debugging in settings - applications - development
Is there any reason that I can't move Ringtones folder from the sdCard
to Incredible's internal storage seen when connecting USB cable to windows
computer and choosing Disk Drive option? Thanks for any thoughts on storage options....
Confused...
The Ringtones folder is in /system/media, which is on internal storage. Moving it to SD you'd need to browse to the ringtone each time you wanted it, it wouldn't automatically pull up since the system looks to the default location.
The only way you can see it is by using adb or Droid Explorer.

Thanks for answer
But the Inc can actually find them on the sdCard: I have different ring for
each phonebook entry, and it finds them without pointing.
I was asking because the internal drive doesn't seem to have much more
on it than DCIM, and I wondered if there was any reason not to put ringtones
on the internal drive. I don't ususally adb, only visualize phone's drives on a
windows setup with windows explorer.

You can copy the ringtones folder to emmc (internal storage) and the phone should find them on reboot.
Below is where they can be put.
Internal:
/emmc/ringtones
/emmc/alarms
/emmc/notifications
SD Card :
/sdcard/ringtones/
/sdcard/alarms/
/sdcard/notifications
Hi
I moved acouple of avi files from internal storage to the sd card connected the phone to pc but the files. wont trasnfer over i can see the files on the sd card click copy but when i go to paste the files onto the pc nothing happens. If i remove the card from the phone and use a usb adapter to connect it to the pc the files copy ok.Obviously i don't want to unmount the card from the phone everytime i need to transfer a file to the pc can anyone help me with this
Maybe a formatting error. Sounds ridiculous I know... pointless getting technical, so just wipe the card and see if that fixes your issue
Hi stevepork
I just tried that and its just the same. i was wondering if it might have something to do with kitkat 4.4.2 which the phone is running.

What is your USB settings ? PTP or MTP ?
Hi
It's mtp when on ptp i just see an image of a camera and have access only to the photos on the phone
What you you see when you right-click on the sdcard file from the computer to show its properties ?
properties doesnt come up only open and explore
Maybe you need this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
As I've only had it a month i don't want to root the phone as it'll void the guarantee which I'd have to do to use the app

Dont worry about warranty when rooting.
There is a way to get everything back to normal.

I'm using the folder mount app to move the files to external sd.
I can move files from internal storage to sd card but i cant get them off the sd card without removing it from the phone and connecting it separately to the pc
it's the security measures that prevent unauthorized access to the sdcard. if you don't want to root, you can move your movies to the dcim folder then you can access it under PTP
Thanks alot for that i just tried it and it works a bit slow but better than keep having to take the back of the phone off and on and unmounting the sd card.do you have a link to rooting the g3 I'd like to look into it sp long as its fairly simple and can be reversed
Read this thread for rooting, the unroot method is explained in the second post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2821000
Hi
