[Q] Samsung Desktop Dock + CM7/Miui - Captivate Accessories

Hello there, I have been eyeing the Samsung Desktop Dock for a while, and was wondering, does it work ok with CM7 and Miui? I don't care about audio out as i probably won't use it, and there are a million clock apps on the market I can use, but does charging work? might be a stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure as CM7 and Miui aren't samsung roms, so there is no guarantee lol
Thanks!

I can not speak about those two particular ROM's but I have run several ROM's with no problems at all charging in eithe the Desktop Cradle or the Car Dock.
I have had issues with the "Stay awake while charging" with the current GB ROM I am running but no other problems.

Audio out does not work with CM7 (only one i tried). Charging does. If you want audio you can try xcal Dock Sound Redirector, it works for me on Gingerbread but I didn't try it on CM7

Oh alright cool! All i really want it for is charging and alarm, so it should do well then thanks guys!

Anyone know if this dock will work with the black phone cover from at&t?

I use my Apple Mighty BT Keyboard and it works perfectly. I'm using CM6 and I know that ROM had an upgraded BT stack. I'm not sure if other ROM's have it enabled.
BT keyboard + Evernote = WIN

Same here, the IMAC keyboard and mouse both work with CM6. Mouse is not much use now, but it does work, just don't orient the device horizontally, last I tested, CM6.0 it doesn't alter the mouse directions with the display.
CM6 is the ONLY ROM currently that will allow you to use it. It won't work stock, or with any other custom ROM. There is one other AOSP rom that someone was working on, but it had the same flaws as CM6, i.e. no 4G, HDMI, FM radio etc.
I would go with CM6 if you wanted this.
so me running fresh 3.1.0.2, that keyboard would not work? only CM6? :-/
Ideas on another keyboard? Id want to keep my phone horizontal with the stand and use it to take notes on in class. It would keep things simple than taking a netbook with me to class
Nope no other way. There is an alternative though which requires you to be at a computer but lets you tour from the pc and display on your phone.
Check out AndroidCentral.com its on the front page. It must likely won't help but its a cool read.

[Q] Some general questions about Sense from a new Android user

Hey everyone!
I am formerly of the Windows Mobile camp and finally made the jump over to Android. My Droid Incredible 2 comes in [hopefully] by the end of this week. I've played with Android as a dual boot on my HTC Touch Pro2, but it certainly doesn't compare to the look and feel of a real Android device.
So, I have a few questions that have been burning in my mind, maybe some folks could help me out.
What are the different versions of Sense on HTC's Android devices? I hear good things about the newest version, but I am told that the DInc2 doesn't have the latest and greatest.
Does anyone playing with the leaked Gingerbread ROM know if the Sense version was updated at all, or are there hardware requirements stopping that from happening?
What is up with HTCSense.com, I hear the DInc2 won't be compatible with the site, any idea why? It seems like a really good value-added type of feature.
What are some of the benefits of the upgrade to Gingerbread?
Any good suggestions for managing notifications? My fiancee just got the DInc2 and she charges it in a different room. I like to use my phone as an alarm clock, but I noticed notifications going off all night on her phone. Any way to stop notifications between certain hours or even just toggle them on and off easily? Ideally I would like to automate this with a way to override sometimes.
Any general advice that folks have for the phone itself?
Thanks everyone, and sorry for the extremely noob questions.

I only have 1 thing to advise. Wait for root. Don't put that ruu on, the you can try whatever Rom comes out. Cm7 blows sense out of the water

Try Shush! Ringtone Restorer. It silences your phone, and lets you choose when it will automatically come back on.

Kind of like Timeriffic??
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.alfray.timeriffic&feature=search_result
sense was not and will not be updated throughout the gingerbread roll out for the dinc2, probably any bugs or issues in the system will be addressed but i don't see them giving us a different version at all.
Thanks for the help folks!
Shush and Timeriffic seem like they might be what I am looking for. I'm not too hung up on Sense being an older version, I think what I was thinking of was when I heard HTCSense.com and its backup utility was said to be not compatible with the DInc2. From other things I have read, it appears that it will purposely never be compatible because of Verizon.
I'm also really really hoping this phone gets the ability to play Netflix Streaming. If the original Incredible can get it, I can't see why they can't find a way to make it compatible with the newer model.

[Q]-A working BT keyboard

Dear god and baby jesus in heaven. Save me from spending more money and resources on a working BT keyboard for my Tbolt lol. So far I've tried both a HYPE mini BT keyboard and the Freedom Pro. Both result in the same outcome.
The HYPE was the first one I snagged. It works on my itouch, main PC with a BT adaptor, laptop with BT built in and my HP touchpad running CM9 (ICS). The touchpad was running GB at the time of the first pairing and it worked there too. After doing some research and seeing most BT keyboards don't play so well with the tbolt, I saw a few people say the Freedom Pro does. So I snagged one of them. It has the exact same issue. It pairs properly but then never connects once paired. Basically the phone acts like a cat. You push the KB entry in the BT list and it acts like you didn't touch it. Clicking other BT items in the list do attempt to initiate the connection.
Are there ANY BT keyboards people here have working? I found a thread linking to the EVO forums where somebody got a Dell BT keyboard to work but that's a bit too big for what I want. I just want a BT keyboard to work with my phone so I'm not always undocking it to reply to a text. The drivers for the HYPE install but never register with the net either over wifi or 4G. The Freedom Pro ones install but don't seem to change the issue. Is it a ROM thing or a phone thing? I'm shocked the Freedom Pro didn't work as people have said this one has worked. My phone is Android 2.34 under the current ROM and a BT of 2.1+EDR
Are you looking for a full-size keyboard? I personally have the Logitech MediaBoard Pro for the PS3 (routinely on sale lately for $30) and it works really well. I've also been using AOKP roms, I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
I'm hoping NOT to go full size if I can help it. I'd rather something not much bigger than the freedom pro. I saw a link to a desktop replacement using an EVO that somebody used a Dell BT keyboard (with the EVO at least). This is the kind of setup I'd rather avoid. Can you post your BT stack info? I'd like to compare it to mine. I'm using Bootmanager and have a Thunderstick ROM going and ODJDub.
Whatever you do, avoid the Motorola Xoom keyboard... HTC phones reject it every time...

Hi Moss. If you want a working BT keyboard, get Thundershed. This rom works with BT keyboards.

I am beginning to see proof of this with sense related roms on devices other than just our t-bolts. I asked the t-shed creator if he could release his bluetooth stack in something that is flashable but he seems pretty busy.

[Q] Lockscreen Gestures!

I used to loved the lockscreen gestures in CM7, easy to unlock/run custom apps directly from the lockscreen but tricky for sticky-fingered nosy people to mess around with my phone.
eg. draw a > to unlock, C for camera... a heart to direct dial my boyfriend.. lol.
If AOKP (or even widget locker) could someday include this feature I would be very happy =)
But anyway, does anyone know of any ROMs for the gnex that have this feature?
I have seen a couple of apps in the market which do this but the reviews aren't too good, they seem to have a few problems, can anyone recommend something that works well?
Not yet implemented in roms. I'm sure it will come.

Automatic theme changer/switcher

When my phone is inserted into its car dock I'd like for it to automatically switch to a theme that resembles my cars dash and information system. Has anyone seen anything like this? Or any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
There is one app that kinda sorta attempts this (NFCar Car Dock) but it's not a very good app and I personally wouldn't recommend it.
you could create your own "car dock" look using the Scene function of Tasker. It could then be triggered by an NFC Tag on your car dock. But I don't think you're looking for that. Sounds to me like you'd like to completely switch your home launcher app to a different style/theme specific for being in the car. I don't know of anything that will easily do that for you, though if you're rooted then I'm sure it's possible somehow though probably not without a lot of work.
