Just received the two styluses’ that I ordered from Deal Extreme on July 16 and I have to say that I am very impressed with them for the price that I paid. Being only $2.40 each I decided to order 2 of them setting me back only $4.80 total with free shipping and no tax. The shipping however took exactly 2 weeks since it was shipped from Japan so if you need it in a hurry your out of luck.
Each stylus is packaged in cheap plastic with a cardboard backing that says for iPhone/iPod touch, etc.
Now the stylus itself has a solid black aluminum body with a chrome clip and chrome right above the rubber stylus part of the pen. The aluminum body feels sturdy and is just a tad bit thicker than your average pencil. I have never owned a capacitive stylus but the rubber end on this one seems to be fine with no quality issues that I can tell. It also hasn’t scratched my device which is important. As far as overall build quality goes, the only part that feels cheap is the clip that has a fake/plastic chrome look to it. The clip has worked fine for me so far when attaching it to my SGT case.
As far as performance goes, it does take a little bit of getting used to, but I’m assuming any stylus for these screens would be the same way. All the touches have registered with great accuracy from what I can tell. I was having some trouble with using Swype but I think that’s because it was on my Moto Droid. It was registering a lot better on my SGT then my Moto Droid. I do have an XO Screen protector on my SGT and it is working perfectly with this stylus as well if anyone was wondering.
Overall though, for the price, you can’t beat it! I got 2 of them for under $5 and am extremely happy with this purchase. This is my first review but I thought I would help anyone that was looking for a stylus. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

That's certainly a good deal. I went ahead and ordered one.
3 bucks, why not
I bought the same one at Walmart under the brand of targus for $14. That tells you how much they overprice everything and you're basically paying for the brand :-(
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
When I was at best buy they tried selling me a Targus one as well, bet its the same one as Wal-Mart
I picked up the targus stylus at walmart. It doesn't seem to be very sensitive. You have to press the tip down and compress it quite a bit for it to make a reliable input. It's horrible for drawing. My finger works 5 times better. Are all capacitive styluses like this?
Did you opt for the paid package tracking when you ordered?
My stylus seems to work fine as long as I'm not charging. Odd.

Nope and I anxiously waited 2 weeks
how do thee styluses perform for hand writing?
anyone know?
Ordered a pair on the 3rd of July, I opted for the mail tracking for an extra $2 bucks. The tracking directs me to some Hong Kong Post website saying my order is still being processed for departure? I guess this is Hong Kong's version of the USPS tracking process. I don't know how good it is once it leaves Hong Kong and into the states? I wonder if the tracking # will still be good once in the states, USPS? Don't have as clue to look? I don't think I will ever order anything out of country again?

You should usually be able to use the same tracking number on usps.com as soon as it gets in their system, or at least that's how it works with China Post.
Thanks I'll keep everyone updated.
That same stylus is available for $1.78, in different colors, at Priceangels
http://www.priceangels.com/Search_Result_t.html?advancedSearch=true&searchname=4.5-inch+stylus
I have ordered from them before. Got the items delivered fine. Pretty much works like Dealextreme, except IMO it has a better design.
I have been ordering quite a bit from dealextreme.com.
So far so lost packages or defect goods, just have to wait patiently for it to arrive.
Located in Singapore though, and I think it ships from Hong Kong.
Wait time is usually 2-3 weeks from time of order.
Performance is going to be more based on the app than the stylus itself. I found navigating and typing to be fine with a stylus, but the drawing apps and lacking....for now.
I got mine yesterday and I've been playing with it a bit. It works *okay*. It's definitely not as useful as I had hoped it would be. It only works about 75-80% of the time - some touches receive no response. It seems to be pretty sensitive, if you touch it at the wrong angle or press too hard or too soft, it doesn't work. Drawing is impractical. Hand-writing notes (which I was hoping for) is not really practical due to the thick rubber end on the stylus.
I decided that I'd go ahead and get a tablet so I went with this device. I primarily got this so my daughter could watch movies on car trips and my wife can dub around the net at home. Most all the mounting discussion seems to be front-seat mounts but I'm looking to mount for the back seat, prefereable on a driver's side headrest. I was looking at the Grip Daddy (http://gripdaddymounts.com/) mounts, and debating between the two they offer but I havne't been able to find too much about them.
I was wondering if anyone had any feedback or experience with them, or alternatives they'd prefer? I'm looking for rear-headrest mounting and would prefer the ability to position it near the middlle, but directly behind the driver's headrest is also fine. ('08 Dodge Caravan)
Thanks for any suggestions, or even tips in general about mounting this thing.
Wouldn't something like this work as well for a fraction?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320731033899?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Thanks for the response, I didn't articulate that clearly enough, but that's the reason I'm asking. I see a lot of mounts that are around that price, but I didn't know if there was something about the Grip Daddy and it's $60 price tag that actually made it worth it, or if the inexpensive non OEM ebay/amazon items are as good as OEM. (That's what I usually buy for my cell phones)
I haven't seen any discussion about headrest mounts at all so I was just kind of throwing it out there in case there was someone else who had experience with this type of mount. I'll just end up getting the cheap one and posting something about it.
The Grip Daddy defenitivly looks more robust, but is it worth it?
I don't know if the eBay / Chineese stuff is sturdy or loose, but usually it's "decent enough". And for the price, well, even if it's a worthless peace of junk, it's 10$ so you will still be able to put food on the table!
I will most likely buy one in the next month or so, I'll let you know if you didn't got one by then!
NOTE: The Grip Daddy is installed on the "upper" part of the headrest, that might be a problem if it's used by kids (mostly)
Well, my daughter is young so she wont be interacting with it unsupervised. We're basically only going to use it as a television for longer car trips so with her strapped in her car seat, this will be just the right distance away.
I went ahead and ordered this one. I didn't want to buy from overseas, as well as wait for the overseas shipping.

I'll post back, with some pix about how it goes.

So I got this in today and I set it up. I can't say I'm too impressed. It's probably fine, unless you hit a bump. It's flimsy and cheap. I initially mounted it with the support holding the tablet upward, but that was way too flimsy. I opted to mount it going down rather than up and I figure if I can put some sort of support behind it to make it secure, but overall it will get the job done.
If you're looking for a headrest mount and plan on using it relatively regularly, I'd spend a little extra for a more rugged mount.
I'm in my third cheap headrest mount. They all broke on the same spot, the pivot joint, different brands bought on amazon and eBay...enough. the grip daddy seems interesting and cheaper than the pad holder...can't decide yet.
Oh yeah, what broke them was my 7 year old daughter
Leaving the car with the backpack, other times, the 2nd row seat laying on it for passengers coming in and out of the 3rd row.

I totally agree with you.
Mine has not broken in over a year of operation, but it makes noise. it is always creaking if it is holding a tablet. I am looking from something more robust as well and had not seen that one that you found. There was another brand out there that looked promising for a $30 price range, but I cannot think of the name right now. (Arkon? http://www.arkon.com/tablet-accessories/universal-tablet-headrest-mount.html).
Anywho, If anyone tries out the Gripdaddy, I would love to know how it works. That creaking is driving me insane!!!
I ended up buying the proclip mount. No ball joints, it's aespherical joint hold together by a screw. Can't easily break this. Expensive, but versatile, since i already have a coupke of device holders.

do you already have it, or are you waiting for it?

I'm waiting for it. After i got just the headrest support bits, I ordered the 10.1 holders from the main page, they're suppose to be compatible with any device holder they sell.

Okay, got it, installed one, going to install the other later today.
BEST HEADREST MOUNT EVER. Solid as a rock, at least as solid as your seat/headrest poles. It can stay as close to the back of the seat/headrest as you want, so if any removable case [edit: holder] could be slick, this is it. The other ones I bought on ebay/Amazon (4 in total, all broken by kids/3rd row seat reclining) were big, and they would leave the tablet in the way (say when the kids need to go through one door only). Not this one.
As a bonus, since I bought the slide mounts (male/female) so that the tablet mount is removable, it can leave virtually no trace there's a mount there, quick and easy in/out.
Very expensive for what it is, but you're not paying for the material, but for the engineering. At least that's what I told myself after forking close to $250.00 for it...grr.
Thanks for the follow up,but $250 is not worth it to me. We don't spend enough time in the car at this point to justify me spending that much money on a mount.
If you're happy with it, that's what counts.
anyone else find any lower priced successful options?
Go with Gripdaddy
Although Gripdaddy is a bit more pricey ($60 instead of $10), yes, there is a reason. Unlike the other cheaper models, Gripdaddy does not just break. I've had mine for several months, and it has yet to fail me. It's not made out of cheap plastic - it LASTS! I don't see the shaking either. Instead of spending tons of money replacing the cheap, plastic headrest mounts - I suggest buying the Gripdaddy once and not worrying about future problems.

Just ordered the car kit cause It looks like a great product. I love this idea!!!
The best thing is that if you send them your case. They'll punch a hole in it so that the magnet can mount straight to the phone and is a little more discrete.
They were originally on Kickstarter and almost doubled their goal.
Just wanted to post/support a (what seems to me like a great product) that is MADE IN THE U.S.A.

That's unfortunate. Did you try to email them to see if they can help you with possibly offering different shipping options?
Saw these guys at a small town fair in Louisville, CO a week ago. Looked like a good product and the guys who own the company were very enthusiastic and helpful. I specifically asked about GPS interference etc. and they said they'd evaluated several phones with no issues.
I also expressed concern about the size/thickness of the engagement point on the phone and they said that they were working on a lower profile version.
Would really like to see these guys do well. Another small business emerging from middle-class America. Gotta love that.
Similar idea to tetrax, but may be easier to find a mounting spot since it looks like it doesn't need the same sq inch spot if you're not using the vent mounted version.
Wow, this is awesome and perfect for my needs! Just went in for one!
I have a window mount currently but it's a pain if I want to rotate it at all because you have to loosen the ball joint and then tighten it back up. And it's almost impossible to do it with the phone in the holder while keeping it at the angle you want.
That, and the suction cup will fall off from time to time. I've also gotten "yelled at" by a cop for having it up as well, so this will "obstruct my view" way less!
This is so much simpler to use, even though it will add a slight bit of bulk.

Thanks for posting about this here, Iv been researching this product everywhere that I can, but its a hard product to find info about, and whats even worse is that the company has not returned my calls or emails in 3 days since contacting them. Either way I found the steelie product on sale here and I already bought it. http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/accessories-product/ST_C.html and now Im hoping it can be used with my galaxy note i717. Now this is a big phone, probably the biggest and heaviest on the market and im worried it will not work. Does anyone know if my phone will work? Also the steelie on this website looks different than all the other steelie pictures iv found, is the one I bought an older or newer version of the steelie? I already contacted 123 ink cartridges and they assured me that its not counterfeit.
Let us know how the thing feels with a big ol', honkin' magnet on the back of it. I'm intrigued, but think having a magnet the size of a 50-cent piece on the back of my GNex would make my having a pretty custom case rather pointless.
The site also says it doesn't interfere with NFC. I'm dubious and would love to hear from some third parties.

NEVER MIND! the one i bought was a counterfeit... lame. oh well im getting a refund on it.
Any updates?
I see that they offer the Steelie Magnetic Phone Socket for purchase by itself, but dont see it listed for sale anywhere. Would be nice for different cell phone uses that drive the same car. I guess you could always mount it to a easy to swap out phone case if you have the same phone as other users.
This review is for a Sony Xperia Z Ultra, but UtorCase is tailor made for over a thousand other smartphones at https://www.shapeways.com/shops/utor-case where you can search for your phone name. If you cannot find your phone just shoot an email to the UtorCase designer, that is how I finally got one made for my extra large Phone.
Disclaimer:
I have been nagging the designer for a Xperia Z Ultra version for a long time and finally he did it. I bought it on my own money first but after chatting with him as he wanted me to let him know how I liked it, I commented that I was going to post a review of it and he offered to refund my money for me taking the time to post a review. So, I like to make this clear because even though I am a LONG time member here and never have tried to do shady businesses, well..someone is always going to be a smart ass about it.
So with that said...Greetings!
So, as I have a BIG phone, the Xperia X Ultra, I have been looking for a way to play my games with a PS3 controller (specially emulators). Unfortunately the ones like MOGA that I was using before cannot hold my Phone plus I much prefer the PS3 controller.
So finally I found this UtorCase design which is simple and effective. As you can see by the pics, you just wrap this around your controller and it locks in perfectly.
If it can hold my phone when lying on bed to play games then it can hold any phone!
Please notice in the close of up pictures that my phone wont fit perfectly because I have a glass protector which adds .4 thickness and YET, as you can see on one of the pictures, it is so good at keeping it in place that even when not fully fitting, I can play with it lying on bed without it falling off. :good:
The material is also very light and gives the impression of not being tough yet it is.
Of course with anything designed for one single device there is always the situation of when you upgrade the phone you must buy another but to me, I dont upgrade right away since usually you need to wait a generation after yours to get real improvements and for all the enjoyment I will get from it, it is well worth the money.
Thanks for reading! :good:
Honestly I think this product is over priced, as a brand new Linx 7 only costs £39.99 in UK and this piece of plastic will cost £23 includes shipping, bearing mind, it is only a pure piece of plastic regardless how awesome this idea it is. I'm not going to buy one but good luck if you have already god it.

mmmm considering you are replying to this TWO YEARS later, things have probably changed on the market.
Plus I dont see how first one item relates to the other because I dont see that tablet you are mentioning holding my controller. At the time there were pretty much no alternatives for this phone and a controller so you know...supply and demand.
Also, I dont see how shipping charges are at the sellers fault. You live in UK and I doubt international buyers were his primary target.
In any case, not sure why you say "good luck if you already got it"...I mean I provided photos of it holding my phone and did a review of it which I thought you have read before posting but looks like you didnt read much...

When I saw the plastic inserts on the metal band Moto 360, I got excited because I thought Moto had finally rectified the issue with the potential cracking back. I was hoping/assuming that it would be a softer plastic insert to absorb some of the pressure put on it by the metal band. Well, if you take a look at the attached pics, you will see that, unfortunately, I was wrong. The plastic is VERY brittle. I was wearing the watch when I tilted my wrist reaching for something and heard a snap/pop sound. I thought for sure the back just cracked, but it had not. Instead the part of the plastic insert that sits between the band and the back completely snapped off. Now, (it's kind of hard to tell but) it looks like the metal is now pushing up against the back. It's obvious that metal beats plastic as evidenced by the fate of the insert. So I'd imagine it's only a very short matter of time before the back cracks. Oh, and this happened LESS THAN 24 HOURS after purchasing the watch. I'm wondering if maybe the insert may have been slightly cracked to begin with because the other one seems fine. Also, this is already my SECOND metal 360, as the first had what was either a tiny bubble or some sort of reflective debris under the screen.
Has anybody else had this issue with the inserts? I'm wondering if I should exchange it, or just get a refund and wait for the 2nd gen Moto 360. Other than this issue, I REALLY LOVE this watch, which is why I'm struggling with returning it.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I do have tiny, girly-man wrists, and I wear the watch somewhat loose as I like to wear my watches lower on my wrist (closer to my hand, pretty much resting on it).
Pictures:
1) Pic of broken insert
2) Pic of other side still intact
3) Profile shot to see the difference when hanging. Can see the broken side resting against the back.

Mine just snapped, same thing. No way in * am i going to send this back and wait four months for a replacement that will most likely have dead pixels or other issues after the h**l ive been through getting this one shipped to me from them the first time and all the cracked backs for other people with OEM bands that are leather. If they refuse to send me replacement plastic links at no cost free expedited shipping I'm going to file every consumer fraud report on them that exists after the bs they are putting me and others through with the nexus 6.
The content should speak for itself
Ryan: Hi, my name is Ryan. How may I help you?
Gary: Hi My name is Gary, My email is ************@gmail.com, I just spoke to a representative Eddie over at moto maker online chat support, reference number 141129-015287. I have a 22mm natural steel moto360(Serial #P0******GX) that I have had for less then a week. Before this version I had the horween leather version bought from best buy, I returned the leather version within 14 days because the back of the watch cracked from the leather strap putting pressure on the plastic back(Sic design flaw). I ordered the 22mm natural steel band version from you directly online at your site with moto care insurance. Today the plastic link that you added between the 22mm steel watch band and the watch body to correct said design flaw snapped on one side -- this IS a user serviceable part, when you purchase the 22mm natural steel watch band for $80 seperately it comes with this tiny plastic peice, and users are able to get new metal links sent to them when requested as well which are much harder to put on yet are STILL user serviceable parts. Well, Eddie insured me I could have a replacement plastic link protector peice sent to me and gave me this number to call to speak to the moto360 specialists: 866-320-4780 Well I called them, I spoke to jose who told me that I would have to return the watch and wait two weeks for a full replacement, this is absurd, there's not a damn thing wrong with the watch or watch band, I demanded to speak to the manager, and Jose hung up on me. I'm not returning my watch and going without it for two weeks after the hell ive been through just to get a tiny plastic peice worth less than a penny -- if that's the case I'll just wait until the back of the watch completely snaps or smash it myself because you guys created a faulty design and then motorola is out more money not me as they will have to replace it no questions asked. If there's some other resolution here I would be glad to hear about it as would everyone else with this problem over on xda and the other android forums who I will be reporting to with our chat transcript, any support is appreciated.

Gary: Let me say ahead of time I'm in a real bad mood after dealing with some of the phone support guys at moto, so please don't take it personally.
Mak: I understand you with that.
Mak: Yes I can see the previous chat transcript.
Mak: Please give me a minute to read it first.
Gary: If this isn't a user servicable part you guys can send out -- you really have to make it one.
Gary: the watch band is supposed to be user changable.. it's just a tiny plastic peice that slips over the band when you attach the band.
Gary: They added it to prevent the problems that were happening with the backs cracking on the leather versions.
Mak: Will this for the Moto 360 device?
Gary: Yeah exactly. the 22mm natural steel moto360
Gary: In this link there are photos of the peice: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...nsert-metal-banded-360s-t2953580#post57120023
Gary: there's alot of people that are popping up on the various android forums that are having this issue.
Mak: In this case sir since you have reached the Technical support for Android phones, I have to give you a call and transfer you over to our Moto 360 department.
Gary: Would it be possible to get the number for the moto360 specialists? was it the correct number before?
Gary: It seems silly that they want to spend the time and employee resources instead of sending me the tiny plastic peice that's worth less then a penny
Gary: they don't have them to spare with the nexus 6 stuff going on
Mak: Sure. Please give me one minute.
Mak: Here is the number that you can call 8663204780.
Gary: That's a bummer, that's the number I called previously..
Gary: Is there a way you could escalate this to some one in charge of moto360 returns and repairs? they really need to be made aware of this issue
Gary: if we are allowed to change watch bands ourselves.. and this plastic peice is a part of the band.. it seems it should be a user servicable part
Mak: Yes. I will and I will let our higher management know about this as well.
Gary: Thank You Mak.
Gary: I really appreciate that
Mak: You are very much welcome.
Mak: Will there be anything else?
Gary: I'll try again with the moto360 phone support. Have a good holiday season mak
Mak: Happy holiday as well Sir.

So i'm just going to wear it until the back snaps, then take a sledgehammer to it and send it back to them in peices in an envelope for return.
I'll continue to do this until they fix the user support problems, eventually they will get tired of me costing them money on watches.
I just want to add, that after being passed around alot more online chat support people who were "in the wrong department to assist me" and being hung up on a few times I finally found my way to the moto360 forum on motorola.com's official website.
I posted my problem there and I was actually able to get some real help from people that knew what I was talking about, and it seems like this issue is going to be passed up the food chain so that hopefully I and others in the future who break this plastic protector peice do not have to do a full rma return procedure.
Nothing has come of it yet, but it sounds promising, I will update when further progress is made.

Yeah. I decided to return mine and not even bother with an exchange. I don't want to have to worry about RMAing it every month for a cracked back, especially since it appears to be a lottery on whether you get a good unit or not. Since I LOVED having an Android Wear device, I knew I'd miss having one. So I lucked out and picked up a LG G Watch for $80 + a $50 Google Play credit from Best Buy yesterday (so probably cost me like $40 after selling the code for like $40). Yeah, it's not as pretty as the Moto 360 is, but that price was too good to pass up. Hopefully, it should get me by until they fix the issue or come out with the 2nd gen 360. Having notifications at a glance is so much more convenient than I ever thought it would be. Good luck to you and everyone waiting for them to rectify the issue. I really do hope Moto get their act together for you guys.
My watch had the black plastic piece break as well after two weeks. Of course it happened after the two week best buy return period. The black piece is still installed, just had a few pieces break off. I figure I'll wait a week or two for a Motorola response.
I'm on my 2nd watch. Bought it from BestBuy and got the 2 year replacement too. They took the first one back because of the cracked back. It was a full semicircle from each side of the band. I googled a bit and found Moto saying its a warranty issue for cracking backs. I'm extra cautious now with mine. Even if its not an issue and no one ever sees it, I know the crack is there. I have about 21 months still of replacements from BestBuy. My bet is that a new model will be out within 2 years and eventually I'll get store credit towards a new one.
One of my little black spacers just cracked too. Only been wearing the watch since Christmas. Any updates on the people just trying to get this one piece replaced?
Ill have to try to contact moto when I get off of work today.
I received my 360 for Christmas from my wife (silver metal band)...the day after Christmas, I felt something poking my wrist while wearing the watch...one of the black spacers was cracked and had a sharp point on it.
I had tried going the route of chat help and calling the support number...
Every rep I spoke to (about 5) was telling me that they do not make these spacers for individual replacement. I would have to send my watch in to have it repaired...or I could purchase a new band and it would come with the new spacers. I told them that this was absolutely unacceptable to me.
...I went to Twitter and asked for help with this issue...that afternoon I received a response from them asking for my name and information. I was told that someone would be in touch with me soon (which I was expecting the run around again). To my surprise, when I came home from work the next day...there was a fedex envelope for me containing 4 spacers.
Needless to say, the sharp piece ended up falling off but the band still feels pretty solid. I have opted to hold off on replacing it until I actually need one, but I'm grateful that they were able to replace it (and send me a few extras just in case).
Help is out there...just have to go to a public audience to get it
I have questions about the help you get from the Moto chat...one rep was telling me that they do not use any plastic on the metal band version, that I must have purchased a different device or a counterfeit and that I would have to go to a local jeweler for help fixing my watch.

Glad you got replacements. I'm going to try the twitter route. Which twitter account did you contact? @motorolasupport ?

Well after reading about all the cracked backs due to the steel bands I have decided on remains with my leather band.
The design of the 360 is fantastic look wise but has an inherently bad flaw due to the position of the band and pin locations. Yes there is a design flaw.
I have had other Moto products, I had a Moto x first generation and very familiar with moto's design flaws. The Moto x had a Kevlar back which cracked and yes mine did crack in around the volume and power buttons.
I guess sometimes beautiful designs don't always work as planned.
I do think Moto has and will improve upon their next generation Moto 360 or design pin attachments that sits tight in the band slot.
If I had the right tools or time I could easily design an attachment that would prevent the steel band from cracking the plastic back.

Pretty close, although I would prefer if that extension pin would be fixed. I would have also preferred if screws would be used rather than the typical expansion wrist band pins, this would allow for much easier and user friendly customization
Just and update. Going the twitter route worked out well. Received two plastic spacers today priority through FedEx. All I had to really do was send a pic in an email.
I did go ahead and order the m180 from steelconnect for when these spacers break. Might have to get another band as the moto band probably won't look right with it. Will have to wait and see.
Overall I was impressed with the moto support I had through twitter/email.

Congratulations on getting some help through twitter! What users helped you out in receiving your information?
call this 1-800-734-5870
they are aware. they are sending me a pair and i requested if possible to give me 4pcs and they said yes.
i hope the plastic on my black metal band doesn't give out
since i'm in Canada, i'm not sure i'll receive the same level of support
I guess it pays to have a big wrist. I've had my 360 since September with a bunch of different bands both metal and leather with no cracked back. But, with a big wrist the band leaves the watch perpendicular to the housing and doesn't touch the back.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I do have tiny, girly-man wrists, and I wear the watch somewhat loose as I like to wear my watches lower on my wrist (closer to my hand, pretty much resting on it).

If you wear your watch literally on your wrist where your joint moves, then this will be the reason why you were able to break the plastic inserts. By wearing it on my arm, no matter how far I bend my wrist naturally, it doesn't cause any pressure that could break the plastic inserts or the back.
It's likely how you're wearing the watch that's the cause.
