sony arc facebook 'show status updates' ? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my option for the 'show status updates' is greyed in the sync menu and cant activate it. running 2.3.3.
ive all the sync tabs checked and facebook syncs the photos etc but never been able to see status updates under the contacts
anyone experience and fix this yet ?

Do you have 2 faceboook sync account in setting? One that have normal faceboook icon and other one looks like square faceboook icon.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App

yes the first one is from sony integration second one is just facebook both are on

Remove that two sync account then create again (I don't know whether reboot is necessary after removing account) . Try sync contacts in se faceboook integration first than sync contacts in other one. When done the Grey menu in contacts setting will clickable.
I've just did that thing after reading your post, just realized my menu greyed out too.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App

ok deleted both restarted you cant install sony one untill facebook account is added first, then the sony one automatically gets added each time. again each contact is syncing ok with the 'show status updates' greyed. annyoing me now. i seen someone posted the exact same problem on sonys board with no reply ha.
i also read that its a beta app for sony at the moment that their currently working on so maybe thats the problem
but still if anyone has it working could you confirm it thanks!

Reading this I just noticed I dont have these either twitter there but there no option for Facebook in the show status option in contact settings Facebook integration is there and working as gallery syncs weird :-(

go to facebook on your browser
''in Privacy Settings - Apps, games and websites, "Information accessible through your friends"
You can untick things you don't want to share, and those that have done that, don't appear in your contacts facebook photos / interests as it's an app, not directly through Facebook...''
interesting have a look at this!
still doesnt solve the problem

To Enable the "Show Status Updates" Create an APN under Settings -> Wireless & network Settings -> Mobile Networks.
For some reason if there is no APN, the option is disabled.

The "Show Status Updates" option under Contacts app -> Settings was initially greyed out for me. Adding a Facebook widget to the homescreen finally activated that option for me, and now I can see the statuses of my contacts.

mine eventually started to work in the end aswell

Upload photo Picasa folder list blank?

Hi Everyone,
I just noticed this recently when trying to upload a picture from the gallery to Picasa - the folder list is blank, clicking it or the new folder button does nothing (screenshot below)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've used it in the past so I'm not sure what changed - also working fine on my T Prime, and, all of the folders are visible in the gallery itself, just not the upload screen.
What I've tried so far that hasn't worked:
1) rebooting phone
2) disabling then enabling photo syncing in accounts and sync
3) clearing gallery and media storage data
4) multiple combinations of the items listed above
Anyone else have this issue? Or know how to fix it? ( I'm running stock ICS )
Thank you,
Kelly

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a solution to this problem or not, but I'm having the same issue now and stumbled across this thread in the Google forums:
hxxp://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/mobile/android-devices/kW1D7jt-DMw (replace xx with tt, since I don't have URL posting rights)
Long story short, the problem appears to happen when you have any accounts on your phone (under the "Accounts and Sync" menu) that use the same email address as the one Picasa is trying to use as your Google account.
For example, if your Google account for your phone is "[email protected]" and you also use "[email protected]" as your Dropbox/Linkedin/Facebook account, Picasa upload will break in the way you described and showed in your image above.
If you remove all accounts that use that primary Gmail address and only leave your Google account, the problem goes away. I sent a message to Paul Wilcox on G+ to hopefully address the issue, but it looks like the only way to fix it is via the workaround I mentioned above.
I'll update here if I hear any news about it.

Glad to know I am not the only one with this issue - not going to remove my other accounts because I want them to sync. Been using PicasaTool in the interim until they fix the issue (hopefully with 4.0.4/5)
Also, I added "me too", and a note about it to the google thread you found, thanks!

How to remove pictures from Google+/Picasa from the Gallery app

Hey everyone, does anyone know how to remove the Google+/Picasa pictures from the gallery app? I went to settings and disabled Google photo sync but there are still 3 extra folders in the gallery - scrapbook photos, profile photos, and posts. I don't want them to show up in the gallery app.
Thanks.
This is an irritating issue. The only way I know how to solve this issue is to remove your account from your phone. After you add it again, you need to quickly navigate to your sync settings and uncheck "sync photos" before it begins.
I BELIEVE...clearing data/cache in G+ and Gallery after making sure the sync settings are disabled works.
But, indeed... irritating. I had it once. And it's a pain in the ass.
Thus, I'm not about to check if the above works =] I don't want to deal with it again, lol.
Edit:
As the above poster said: Deleting your Google account WILL work.
I'd then clear Gallery and G+ again just to be sure.
But it's again, a pain.
I've frozen Google+ (I don't use it), go to Settings> Apps> All> Gallery> Clear cache and all the Picasa/Google+ pics will disappear. Don't sync again. Cheers!
I just got my phone yesterday and noticed this issue. Thanks for the tips. Will try them out.
Get a file reader app and browse thru your folders until you come across a file labeled ".no media" copy it and paste into each location you don't want to show in gallery.
EDIT: any folder/file with a "."will become hidden unless you set hidden to show.

Android is upgrading...
I ve got a better solution.
Download picassa app from play store. Delete those pics from google-linked picassa account.
I was also annoyed by that issue. But i found this way to solve it.

clearing the data/cache in the gallery app works! Thanks guys.
Try downloading the gallery app called QuickPic. It works on both ICS and JB.
It auto hides those folders. You can hide and unhide folders from with in the gallery. Its been my go to gallery app for a long time.

Hi, to remove stuff from Picasa, go to settings,click on Apps,then wipe the screen right to left 3 times through Downloaded.... Running.....All.....scroll down to Gallery.. don't rely on the icon, read Gallery, click on, then Disable and clear Data from the storage area. that should clear the gallery icon from the Apps screen and the offending pictures, good luck

Duplicate Contacts in SuperZen

Hello, I am having trouble with my newly installed SuperZen custom ROM and I am hoping one of you can help me troubleshoot my problem.
Traditionally, my contacts were merged like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see above, the phone numbers HOME, MOBILE and Whatsapp were together in 1 entry.
After installing the latest SuperZen custom ROM, now entries were shown like this:
3 entries were found under Angela Hp and clicking on individual entries resulted in the following:
Under Contacts > Contacts to display, I have selected Whatsapp and Google ticked.
My question is "What should I do to get these entries merged like it was before I installed SuperZen ROM?"
Thanks for your time and help.
Any help? Anyone?
Open up your dialer and hit the contacts icon. From there, hit the contacts to display menu on the too left. You will most likely have sim, device and other sources checked. That will cause mutiple entrees in you contact list. Just leave one source checked. Either device or sim.

Not sure. I have had to manually delete contacts before. Maybe one of the other members will have an idea. Possibly look on youtube for a solution. Sorry I could not help more

New Outlook.com sync problems

I use outlook.com for my emails, phone book etc. Everything was fine with my contacts on my phone, I had all the small avatars for myself and all my contacts. I've got a big problem since MS updated me to their new style Outlook.com.
All my contacts Avatars have gone and I seem to have every contact in my phone from Facebook even though I have only chosen 'Outlook' in the settings. More annoyingly I have about 300 'Unnamed' contacts appear in my contacts and none of them have any info inside. I have deleted my account on the phone and resynced and it is still the same?
Has anyone come across this and any ideas how I can get my original properly synced settings back?
I have about 300 of these empty names now,

Did you already check in Settings > Apps > Outlook if all permissions are granted. If not, delete your Outlook account, set all permissions, re-add your account.

I'm using the outlook that is in the accounts settings and not the Outlook app itself. I've got my mail,calendar and phone numbers synchronised.
Maybe I'll install the App and give it a go that way and chose that setting in the phone app to see if that sorts it.

If you guys want to know some good email apps the type mail app works great so does blue mail I use both and they rock. They have like a 4.6 or 4.7 rating not many apps get praises like that. Just thought I would mention that as I think the outlook app has a lot to be desired.

Thanks for that but it's not the email I have problems with it's the Outlook account sync problems that give me hundreds of false empty entries in my people phone book when I sync to Outlook.com. They are obviously not in there so I don't know where they are coming from. It has only happened since MS updated me to their new Outlook.com style of page.
Oh I had that issue on Tuesday with the outlook servers using Thunderbird email software I had to force close a couple times now seems to be fine all day Wednesday yesterday and still going fine.

gmail as standard on Huawei M2, how?

On my Samsung Handy:
If I click on a sendto link, the Gmail app opens
On my new tablet Huawei M2 10 there is a selection without an entry for Gmail
How can I fix it?
Thank you

See if you can set Gmail as the default app for email.

First, ensure that Gmail is installed on the device, and is up-to-date with the latest version in the Google Play Store.
Then, press "Settings" -> "Apps", then press the "Advanced" option at the bottom left of the screen. From the "Advanced" menu, select the "Default app settings" option.
This will bring you to the "Default app settings" page shown above. In this page, press the "Email" line item, then select "Gmail" in the page that comes up for you to select the default email app.
At this point, Gmail should be set as your default email app. Good luck.

It is possible to set Gmail as Standard, but my HUAWEI M2 ignores.
Hmmm... Is your ROM a Lollipop (Android 5.1.1) ROM? I did have some issues with setting default apps on lollipop - i would set it but it seemed like the device would not use that setting.
Did you try setting email specifically to gmail like my screenshot shows, instead of "standard" like your screenshot shows?
Any joy with working this out?
I have the same issue on MM where the tablet ignores the default app setting.
Cheers
EDIT: ignore that, worked it out - but it does mean that the native email app has to be disabled in order to get the choice of Gmail or other email clients.

No, there is no need to disable the standard email app - AFAICT what this option does is that it just causes any mailto links (links which send emails) to cause the gmail app to open instead of the native exchange app. Both apps should still work.

With the native email app enabled, all email links were opened by it regardless of the default app setting.
With it disabled I then got the choice of my other email clients when clicking on an email link, again the default app setting was ignored as all email links should have been handled by Gmail which is already set as default.
Thank you beast.in.Black. You helped me figure this out on my P30 pro!
Solved. Disable Huawei email app
I had to also disable the built in Huawei email app to get this to work. It's bad that Huawei does that as they require email access to my Google account which I refuse to do. Poor respect for privacy it appears.
