Not judging at all, but I'm just telling you it is very very easy to perm root, you already have visionary too. You can use this method, it is the one I used for perm root. This version is much less daunting, and for some reason, all the XDA root guides wouldn't work for me. Consider it... once you have perm root it makes your life a whole lot easier and you don't have to worry about it again.

I thought the official gingerbread was not rooted yet on the g2 yet and visionary isn't recommend anymore? Correct me if im wrong
Plus this should be in the general thread.

Safe to root T-Mobile G2 with 2.3 update?

After getting my replacement G2 I found it had the 2.3.3 update from T-Mobile on it. I was wondering if it was safe to root with using the method from the XDA wiki or not.
Base Number is 2.13.531.8 CL56018 release-keys
if that helps at all
2.3.3 for the G2 currently isn't rootable yet. However, the guys at #g2root are currently working on it.
Thank you, I guess I have to sit and wait then =/
The only reason I would want it rooted is for dsp manager and kernel. Other than that the official release is pretty damn smooth

I wanted rooted because of Cyanogenmod, other roms when I am in the mood for it, and good root apps

any updates on root for official 2.3.3 update ?

just wondering if any one has heard on any developments on how to root the desire on 2.3.3 , i pray someone is doing something, im pretty dam fed up of this update -.-
Heres an idea. Instead of spamming the q&a section about the gingerbread update again, I suggest you go find the other 7 or so threads on gingerbread and find out for yourself.

sorry :/ i just really want this peice of **** software off my phone, quick question is there any way to fake a bootloader ( eg make the boot loader in the 2.2 ruu seem like the 1.xx boot loader you get with the 2.3.3 update but its actually the 0.94 bootlader ? if you get what i mean, maby that way the ruu would flash propperly and i would be back on 2.2 )
