Since installing CM7 RC0, my phone's average temperature is around 38 degrees celcius. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Mine even goes up to 43°C ,so I'm interested too.

even my defy shoots up at around 43 C,
Location :: India, Surrounding outside temp around 39C
but even my indoor room temp is around 30 C still my defy goes upto 37- 43
Mine's been at 39 °C lately
Anyone know what's causing the issue? My device was overclocked, turning that off lowered the temperature slightly.

Have you git the correct basedand set fir your area.

How do you know which one is the correct one?

Is that temp just running as normal or when your playing a game because thats way to high im running cm7 Rc0 and im on 23 degrees never seen 40 degrees unless i play a game for an hour does any of your cpu drop back to 300mhz ? or constantly on 1ghz the way to fix it is download set cpu and set the scaling to 300mhz (on demand) to 1ghz
Mine hits 38 celsius in the uk when only 16 celsius outside using the standard 2.1 rom!

Normal operating temp of around 35-40 celcius. I can't figure out what the problem is.

Program from market called temp + cpu v2 download that its a widget put it on the main screen and see if your cpu is scaling to 300mhz if you dont touch it if not and running constant 1ghz thats your problem right now mines on 27 degrees my room temp would be about 20-22 degrees

Go into the baseband app - it'll tell you at the top which one it is set to (CM7 comes set to USA as default I think) then just go & choose the correct one that's listed for your area.
There may be a few to choose from for your area eg for UK there's several in the list.

How hot is too hot for the phone? What's a good setting for battery temp.. I have mine set at 50 but easily gets there.. what's a too high of temp to stay away from?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I lowered mine just a bit from the default, so its like 46c. Your doing something wrong if yours hits 50 easy..
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I've seen mine break 50 once according to Battery Status and it had (Overheated) next to it. That was only cuz I left it charging in my car on a hot day.

Hey all. My defy when set on 3G only signal seems to get very warm after about 15 mins of use. Is this normal?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
It's perfectly normal.
I get 47°c when using 3g on hot days. If it gets any higher SetCpu will drop the processor clock

3G with GPS on using it as a satnav i can cook beans on mine
Open reovery , goto system->overclock and set scaling_governor to 'conservative'. Try other options if still not resolved.

Mine would get pretty hot too whenever 3G is using.
What this scaling_governor to 'conservative' would actually do or help in this matter?
It allocates clock frequencies more dynamically , rather than staying at 1ghz esp in 3G mode which causes heating. It is set to "ondemand" by default which is not so smart in handling the frequencies I think. Conservative saves me the heating by almost 6 degrees (from 42 to 36) without compromising on the performance.

Almost forgot , after changing the scaling governor dont forget to "Save" the configuration and make sure youve enabled all modules.

I've been trying to UV my phone to save some battery. I generally keep:
Max: 1080 MHz
Min: 384 MHz
smartass or on demand
However every time I reopen SetCPU it's actually at:
Max: 1080 MHz
Min: 1080 MHz
The governor is sometimes what I save it as...sometimes something else.
I'm currently on Juggernaut (Bullet kernel) but The same problem occurred on Bombadier (Synergy kernel) also.
Any help please?
*Edit
I used to have an SGS Vibrant but never had this sort of problem so I'm a bit confused

Don't use SetCpu. Use the Faux clock listed in the juggernaut thread. It does a great job both with clock speeds and undervolting.
Still have about 20% left after 17hours using 384-1512 lagfree with 384-384 offscreen and -25mv

i ran into this issue and discovered that busybox was no installed properly thus causing this problem.
grab from the market "busybox installer" and make sure you have it installed properly.

I searched "Faux" in that thread and couldn't find anything. Am I missing something?
*just kidding, found the link in the changelog. giving it a shot. Thanks a lot!!!!

Did this, just rebooted. Fingers crossed.
Using nenamark2 as a test when I normally test I get in the 26-27 FPS range using leankernal however opening and or setting any clocks in setcpu will lower my score to no more than 20.5 FPS.

By setting any clocks, do you mean raising the maximum clockspeed? Testing has shown that overclocking to 1.3 or 1.42GHz can actually harm performance on some SGNs.
No, I mean any changes. Even setting it to 1200 MHz will cause the performance hit.

I wonder wat causes all the random reboot,is it got to do with undervolt, overvolt,CPU speed and minfree value?

..overvolt?
Anyway undervolting and CPU speed can definitely cause reboots. Some phones can't go beyond 1.2GHz and I know undervolting can cause instability when brought down too low.
Personally I haven't had a random reboot in as long as I can remember, but I also don't undervolt and I don't OC past 1.2GHz.
Well,I'm using sense rom in the moment, enabled swap and supercharge.. and oc it at 468-1458mhz.. =\ still reboot, does vm heapsize affect rebooting?

My phone's upper limit is also at 1.4GHz, runs stable on it, but haven't really felt the need for that. One thing that comes to mind is that your lower limit is pretty high. What governor do you use? Do you have a profile for screen off and what's the frequency fork there?
I would assume that with that setup the phone gets pretty heated, which could very easily cause random reboots. Any idea what temperature it usually runs on?

468-1457mhz smartass screen in,122-468mhz screen off conservative.. =\

Maybe you should try lowering the upper limit to 1.2GHz for a while see if it makes any change... in the meantime it might be helpful to know:
a) Which specific rom are you using?
b) Any custom kernel?
