Hello,
I have a HTC desire HD with rooted IceCold Sandwich 4.0.4 android OS. I want to revert the phone to original state and for that I am using a RUU rom "RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed.exe".
I am following all the instructions given by XDA forum correctly and data cable is also connected properly (as USB storage is working perfectly after connection), but unfortunately everytime I try to revert to Stock RUU, I get an error "ERROR[170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR".
For diagnosis purpose, I tried downloading another RUU stock rom and followed the same instruction. Now also same error appears.
There are few issues I am facing in my rooted rom and hence I want to revert to stock rom. But always a failure
I request you to please help me as to how I can manage installing stock rom which can connect with PC.

You downloaded and installed HTC Sync for the correct USB Drivers?

Yes Andy, I have latest version of HTC Sync for my DHD. Version = 3.2.20
Anyone here who can help me to get rid of this issue.. Please Please.. Its been 2 days my DHD is in power off state.. I need the resolution to awake my DHD.. :crying:
Did you unlock using HTC's Bootloader unlock program or did you use any tool found here on XDA?
If you used HTCs system you will need to relock the bootloader before you can flash any RUU's.
If you can get into fastboot try these commands

fastboot oem lock
Then try to run the RUU.

Is there any other way to relock the bootloader? I'm having the same issue with the latest HTC Sync Manager installed.
EDIT: Thanks., Locking it via fastboot and running RUU in that mode got past the 170!
hi,i have a problem with fastboot mode in lt18,my arc s goes to fastboot mode but i cant flash any kernel it shows this problem(remote:your device must be rooted first)
i rooted bur no difference i really confused where is the problem and how can i solved it,sorry for my bad english
You need an unlocked boot loader to flash custom kernels.

Trying to relock the boot loader after phone was rooted to go back to stock firmware,I have found threads but keep coming stuck with downloading the flash tool always leads to some site that wants to run a download program .
Please your advice is very appreciated

i was trying to unloack bootloader of my htc 526 g plus but by mistake i click on firmware upgrade and then my phone was totally dead now i am trying to flash firmware but usb not detected i installed all drivers which need to flashtool please help me
